Great news Fluffqueen!  Regarding exchange surgery.  Piece o' cake for me.  Had surgery on Thursday and was back to work on Wednesday.  My PS always does drains...however, he was able to take them out the next day at my post-op appt because of the minimal fluid! :).  WAY less painful than the BMX.  In fact, the only thing that was difficult was remembering the arm restrictions because I felt too good!

That is good to know! I was hoping it would be that way. I hope I only have one day of drains, but I seem to be a drainer so I am not holding my breath on that!

Fluffqueen I had no drains. I would have felt great after my surgery but I was sore from where they took the fat for grafting and general anesthesia makes me nauseous and dizzy. I was able to dress myself although a little wobbley from that anesthesia. This is nothing like BMX though. Much much easier. Recover is so fast. You will want to do stuff but you doctor will have you on limitations.

Fluff- glad things are going well!

I had my FG today, I'm back in the surgical bra, but now I am sporting this "lovely" binder that covers my mid-section to wear for a couple weeks,. I have foam inserts inside the binder to wear for 24 hrs? Not sure why but assuming they were placed at the donor sites to keep it firm?

I should also add that it wasn't the "piece of cake" I'd imagined, surgery was around 2 - 2 1/2 hrs and I look like I got the crap kicked outta me! I am fully purple on my sides, and small bruises almost under my arms where the fat was injected. This is all I can see the rest is "tucked in" the binder.

As usual I felt gross upon waking up and it took a pain injection & a couple percosets to get under control to leave the hospital. As of now I am feeling better, just took a percoset to ensure I can sleep pain-free. I am not comparing this to BMX pain, this is no where near that, but I definitley wasn't expecting the bruising I've seen so fat...geesh, soooo glad I opted to wait till after the summer, I'd look like a nightmare at the beach! ;-)

so, all in all my slope/divots look filled in, whoohoo!!! I hope the FG takes and it stays this nice! It was worth it and I'm glad I did it, I just didn't give it too much thought ahead of time so I was kinda surprised. Oh yeah, I also have arm/weight restrictions for 2 weeks, I was TOTALLY not expecting that, either!

Did anyone else have bad bruising? Is it because FG was done across my whole lower-mid-section? I have two small incsions at my bikini line are and I think one in my belly button, although I have yet to see it...I'm really glad I did it and am sending good thoughts to my fat that if doesn't get re-absorbed! ;-)

    Megan,

Oh my, I am scheduled for fat grafting in 2 1/2 weeks, now I am getting abit scared.  He told me the fat grafting plus c-v nips would take 4 hours, yikes!!  He is going to try and add some fat under my arm/axillary area where I had nodes removed, did you have some fat put under your arms too?  I am hoping to return to work (part time) after 4 days.

I hope you feel better soon!!  And hope your fat takes.

Yes Megan I looked like I got beat into a gang. It healed pretty quickly though. I still felt this was a piece of cake compared to the BMX. Granted I had nodes on both side taken too at the BMX.

Oh, Christine! I didn't mean to scare you...I think I am bruising more than most ladies here. The pain is totally toterable, it was the surprise of the bruising that got me. I am verrry fair-skinned and relatively thin - don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

But trust me when I say I am so glad I did it, I have been so self-conscious of my divots and glad to have filled them in.

As for having fat added under my arms, no I didn't have that. My PS makes small incsions there to transfer the fat from one spot across the breast mound on top.

I apologize for any stress I may have given you, but it's definitley doable, I didn't get one bruise from bmx or exchange so I think it was a surprise, and like I mentioned the pain is under control and I anticipate feeling back to normal in a couple days.

    Good luck!!!

Lago- glad to hear your bruising faded quick...I've never seen anything like it on myself...

Defintley non-comparable to bmx pain-wise, and the 'burning' sensation of FG has nothing on the nodes burning-feeling, I just did a few nodes and wowza, that felt like a fire under my arms!!!

Megan, You did not scare me to much.  I expect that I will be beat up after 4 hours of surgery.  I do not bruise easy and have easy fat for harvesting.  I trust my PS knows what he is doing and will take care of me.

Christine my PS had trouble finding enough fat… that's why he's doing more at the nipple reconstruction. I too am thin like Megan although I do have more fat on my thighs and butt. Maybe this time my PS will take my suggestion of the thighs but he didn't seem that impressed last time. He though my love handles had more.

To be honest I just remember the restrictions being a PITA because I felt fine after several days. Still sore from the fat grafting but I was walking in the park as soon as they let me… just no arm swinging for a while and not my power pace… although I felt like I could do the power pace.

Well, what a difference a day makes! I am feeling bruised and still sore, but nothing like last night. I seriously think fat was taken from alllll over my midsection & lower abs/pooch area. I'm tender from my love handles to my crotch...I was comparing the pain to how I felt after taking my first spin class, I was a little "tender" down there after all that pressure leaning forward on the seat, wierd but it's gotta be from the lower ab area...sorry if that's TMI... ;-) I slept kinda crappy and rested today, but the pain seems under control now. I figured I'd continue the percosets to sleep ok tonite and hopefully be just Tylenol tomorrow. I think anesthesia just wrecks me, I felt worse this time coming out than after exchange, wierd! I guess it was a different "cocktail" than last time, or I was under longer...I'm really happy with my new "slopes" ;-) I finally feel like they look like natural boobs, well, as close as they'll ever look. I'm pretty darn happy about that!

Megan the longer you're under the worst it is if you are the type that doesn't handle general anesthesia. OMG I was so nauseous for 2+ days after BMX I couldn't even sit in a chair. (longer surgery than exchange). Exchange they did give me a patch. I could actually walk right after exchange… granted slowly.

Megan,  So glad you are doing better today!!  I appriciate your description of the pain, if I know what to expect, I will be fine.  I had a patch at last surgery and did so much better.  "Natural" and boobs with new slopes sounds great!  I think I have more fat to get than some of you, maybe I will have less pain.  My stomach is fairly flat, sure hoping he will take from hips or butt.

lago, when do you get your nipples?  I am getting mine with my fat grafting, guess this will add to the fun.

The patch definitley helps...I had 3 iv anti-nausea meds and the patch (or so I was told). I think I'm just one of those sensitive types :-) Lago -I couldn't sit up for a couple days after bmx, after exchange I was fine, and yesterday I was definitley wobbly/jello legged!

Susan - no worries! I think it's just a crap-shoot as far as how you react, etc. Did you wear a binder after all your FG? If you wore one, how long did you wear it for? I was sent home wearing one with extra foam inserts I took out today. It's like wearing a Velcro spanx-type thing...but really, as the day goes on I'm feeling better, I appreciated all your input...I know we are all different and love to hear your experiences, I knew much more of what to expect because of it :-)

    Lago,

Looks like I go first this round, Sept 29th.  I think I will go out and by a couple spanx garments in anticipation.  If I need to wear them I will need to have some to wash.  I am getting excited, if thats the right word.

Megan ~ As my PS told me.. the reason you wear the spanx/binder is because there is a "space" created from where they were taking the fat.  The goal is to have your tissues reconnect so there is no space anymore.  If you aren't properly "binded" then the tissues can "slide against eachother" and have a hard time healing and fluid/edema may develop.  That is why they want you to keep the spanx/binder on so that the tissues stay tight together and have a chance to heal.  I think it's less "critical" for small areas of FG vs. major lipo.  My PS said I could just wear regular spanx after the first week after my lipo.... so you could probably wear regular spanx now (I'd ask your PS) and usually they want you to wear it for 3 to 6 weeks.  Enough time to have the tissues heal. :)

Lago - would you like some of my extra fat for your grafting? Even though I had nodes removed I still have a lot of underarm foob. I don't know how wide these TE's are but they feel like they are huuuge.

Divits - is this another thing to concern myself about?

BTW my PS does the exchange through the same incision as the DMX. I can't imagine these scars will ever fade.

I'm pretty sure when my time comes I'm going to do the areola tattooing with the 3-D nipples. I mean if I'm never going to feel them anyway why have the nips showing if I don't have to? Kind of sucks cause my nipples were one of my most erogoneous (sp) zones.

Fat grafting ladies---do they knock you out like they do for mx and exchange or is it twilight sedation? Was procedure done in the hospital? I have a feeling that my PS might due it in a surgical suite in his office...

You guys getting underarm fat are all making me laugh. Before I had my first set of expanders removed, all I did was complain about underarm boobage. He kept telling me he would fix it at impant, which of course didn't happen. I had been telling him I wanted to be smaller and I think his version and mine were different the first time. When I was totally flat, and I wore my victoria secret 38B bombshell bra to an appointment and told him that is the size I wanted to be filled out a little more, he had a better understanding. I have narrower expanders that feel so much better this time. I will fill only to 400, not the 500 I was at last time. (Even though whippet mom thought I could go to 600, which would have been ok if I wanted to be the size I was before).

I think I look pretty good right now. With the next two fills, it should be perfect.

takeadeepbreath my 1st fat grafting was done at exchange in a hospital under general anesthesia. Yeah I was out cold. Nipples, fat grafting and pocket work on lefty is being done at a surgical center. I don't know if it's general. I'll find out at pre-op.

chiluvr1228  I miss my right nipple too but have no regrets getting rid of that one too. There was LCIS they found after the MRI! I do have fat just not in the belly or any where above my belly button. I just need my PS to look further south.

Lago ~ I would think you would def be doing general considering you are having pocket work done.

I hope. Chances are I will probably not want to do anymore. The right pocket does need to be fixed. I could live without additional fat grafting if I had to but no one boobie lower than the other. (_._)(_•_)

Takeadeepbreath- I had FG under general, in the hospital and it lasted 2 1/2 hrs. I am not sure what all Drs do for FG, but that was my experience.

Susan- thanks for the binder info! ;-) I talked to a nurse practioner today and have moved onto spanx & sports bra, 24/7 for at least a couple weeks. I know I was only in for "minor" FG, but I was grafted from 3 incisions, and seems like the areas were quite large, is that normal? How many areas did you have grafted on your 1st go-round? Did your PS make small incisions close to under your arm to inject the fat over the implant? Or where was you fat injected? I am full of questions now that it's happened, aren't I?!? ;-)

It's in the 80's here today and I sweat right thru that binder while at the playground with my daughters...imagine the heat of the summer, I think I woulda melted! ;-) it should be in the 60's by the end of the week and I think I'm pretty glad for that...

    Hi ladies!

Just jumping in on the fat grafting subject.  I am now fifteen days out, still a bit tender where the fat was taken.  Four areas were used to harvest fat.  I stopped wearing the compression binder yesterday, but I do wear it at home.  Brusing where the fat was injected is fading and the slopes look good.  The cleavage and the area above the cleavage needs more fat.  The ripples are starting to show in these two areas.  The underarm that had the lymph nodes taken from is hollow.  If I have more FG, I will ask to have these three areas filled and possibly right under the areolas (even though one needs to be moved down).

I had fat grafted into my underarm area that was "hollow" as well.  Seems to have "taken" much better the second go around.  I also had fat taken from several different area the first time.

Megan ~ my fat was injected for my armpit hollow in the armpit area... but for my breasts...the entry was in my cleavage for each side.
