I can not wait to have some fill in the hollow under my right arm, never thought I would want fat anywhere, but no fat there is the pits.  (pardon the pun).  I am having general, he said about 4 hours of surgery.  Having mine down in a hospital, but I go to a major medical center.  I do think this could be done at surgical center too.

Susan, good to hear that this FG round might be the winner under the pits! I would have never thought of putting fat into the underarms...so glad I found this site and all this info!

I love all the info I get here, too!

I am now all "spanx-ed" out! I had to go and buy some new ones at Marshalls tonite since mine at home were waaay too tight, pre-FG spanx dont fit the same as post-surgical! Helllooo, swollen belly! ;-) I am so glad to hear all of your experiences, I feel so much better knowing what's happening isn't wacky, but just part of the healing process! Ok, maybe it's still wacky, but not just me! LOL!!! Thanks, gals!!!

Hi all, ran across this on another board, so I signed up. http://www.lbbc.org/Events/2011-09-20-Monitoring-for-Recurrence-and-Managing-Fears It is on a website called Living Beyond Breast Cancer.

At our September teleconference, Carey K. Anders, MD, will discuss the feelings you may have when treatment ends. She will share practical tips for managing your concerns and follow-up care. During this teleconference, you will:

    • Explore how your doctor will monitor for recurrence over time
    • Understand the feelings you may have after treatment ends and the lingering fears of the years beyond
    • Learn skills to cope with your feelings and find more support
    • Discover practical tips to ease your concerns, including making a post-treatment plan with your doctor

I was invited today to be part of a trial on using metformin to further reduce the chance of bc returning. I am considering it as it looks like it is pretty far down the pipeline for effectiveness, however, I am also considering just asking my docs to figure out a way to give me a prescription, so that I can guarantee that I bet the medication and not the placebo.

Upside on the study is that I would get blood work and xrays done oon a regular basis that my onc doesn't like to do without symptoms. Hmmmm....

Are any of you familiar with this study?

Looks like it's only being done in Canada. It sounds promising. I would go for it myself but I just passed the 1  year mark of my BMX Aug. 31st. I think that makes me ineligible.

Lago Thanks for posting this study, I heard about Metformin from another BCO friend, and I'm asking my DH the Pharmicist about it and will let you know what he says.

I think it may have originiated in Canada, but the studies are being conducted in several places in the United States. I know that one of the oncologists I talked to at IU said that they were waiting on the as it was stuck in Canada or something and that was several months ago.

From all the research I have done, it sounds like a great thing with a drug that is pretty safe and has been used for years. I am trying to decide if I just want my oncologist to prescribe it, or take my chance with the study and hope I get it and then get all the free testing that goes with it.

I may start it and then see where it goes. I can always drop out. Supposedly one for sure way of knowing if you have the real thing is some gastric issues for a short period of time.

A lot of what I read kind of says that they already know it works and that this study is basically to confirm it.

Metformin is a drug used for Type II diabetics.  The study was done on patients with this medical issue.  Not sure it should be used if your A1C is normal.

If it is working for patients who are diabetics--I would assume that additional research studies are in progress.

    Thanks my thought.  Eileen

Just an update - I believe I can still legitimately post on this thread.  Exchange was 9/13 so still pretty swollen, but I think I got my wish - downsizing from DD to B+ or C- with two 455LX Allergan 410 gummies.  At least I can button blouses w/o the dreaded gap.  Drains out today & nurse says wait 6-8 weeks before getting measured for bras.  Thanks for all your good words & advice these last months.

MinusTwo ~ So glad you got your wish!   I've never had the "gap" issue with my blouses and don't intend to. :)  I'm actually wearing a tank/camisole without a bra at work today.. and it feels fabulous! Kiss

I noticed your siggy change!  Maybe Ill have to change mine soon!  No more ( o Y - ) for me!

By the way, I still chuckle of the name of this thread - I just found out that in certain styles, I am a 30 E  - HEL-LO!!!

    30E?!?!?!  ROFL!!

HEL-LO indeed!  Have you told your BFF yet?! lol!

N day is only a week away?!  That went so fast!  So did Jan ever loosen up for you?

Yeah.. I changed my siggy line.  I'm trying to simplify. ;)  Plus.. now that I'm this far out from the reconstruction...it just felt weird telling everyone my boob size each time I post. Tongue out

No - Jan is still high and tight...I guess that goes with the name of her!  LOL PS says its not grounds for postponing - she may never move.  Its my dominant side so it gets flexed a lot.  Oh well - Ive made peace with it and wont shoot for a revision or anything.

And no I never did tell ex-bff....She and I are very through.  Ive moved on with my bad self!  LOL

The 30 E is because Simone Perele doesnt make double D....But the tag goes in my scrapbook!  wah ha ha ha!

I miss your boob size!  And your dum de doo doo!

Don't worry. I'm still adhering to the sage advice of Ms. Gaga. Tongue out

Too bad about the BFF, but I'm glad you are embracing your bad self and moving on. :)

How great that you are almost done!  I don't blame you for opting out of a revision.  It's like starting back at ground zero again.  And if it's not bothering you, why bother with it.  And remember, just dance ~ it will be okay.  Do Dum Doo Doo. Tongue out

SueBee-30 E! OMG. I work part time at Macy's in the home department which includes lingerie. We used to say the Wacoal G ones could be a hat for someone!

I'll hold up the thread title! I was a large C, small D and now should be a full Bish. I will have 400 high profile mentor implants in exactly one month from today! Can't wait. Got a vacation built in there, so the time will fly by, I hope.

Oh! Tried on my swimming suits with the TE's today. Wowza!  I'm a real Barbie Doll! Perky rock hard chest with no nipples! (yet).

Now if I just looked like Barbie, it would be great.

Fluff - I honestly dont look as big as it sounds.  Most bras I am a 32D (look like a C)...its the manufacturers that run large that I have to step down to a 30DD....and Simone Perele goes from D-E instead to a DD...thats all.  Its just sounds huge!  I dont look any bigger than my C friends.  Its funny when I started on this thread, I really WAS planning on a full B.  My PS at the time didnt think I would stretch that much further than that so I settled that in my mind.  My new PS let me go a little bigger to get the C I wanted at first...I just wanted to fill out clothes without looking unnatural.

I looked at Macy's for some bras!  Some of those bras DO scare me!!!  They dont carry my size however and JCPenny even chuckled when I told them what size I was looking for.  My unwanted side effect of having breasts now - I guess people with a small frame arent supposed to have boobs bigger than an A?

Yes those TE's are rediculous in swimsuits and clothes - but you take heart at how different it will be after exchange.  They wont be as big, as out there, and as hard!!!

I have better luck in Nordstrom Rack and Marshalls than I do at Macy's.  Nothing at Macy's fit me properly.

I don't even buy mine there....and I did laugh at the 30 D. We never have that! Get lots of complaints from implant folks who are little is size and big in boobage.

Fluffqueen...I am betting at 400 you wind up a C at least...my 350's put me solidly in a 34B and in less coverage bras I can actually wear a 34C (have a Calvin Klein C on today). It's all about the width because they really look like a small B---they don't stick out far at all and are not even big enough to have drop to pass the old pencil test. They are the right size for my frame but this bra sizing thing defies logic.

I agree, the bra sizing thing does defy logic.  But I also think part of it is that most women never go for a professional fitting.  I was buying 36 or 38 A/B bras before BC.  Knowing what I know now.. I'm sure I should have actually been a 34C.

    I have 397cc (allergen 15) implants. I'm wearing 34Ds and I have one that's a 32DD

According to this link I should be a 36 A… Hmmm I don't think so. The gal in the sports store measured me at either a 34C or maybe a 36C.  She fit me in a 34C but I didn't like it. All I know is these 34Ds and 32DD bras I bought fit great.

lago ~ I think the operative word here is "sports store".  I'm not sure if the personnel at a sports store would be the most accurate bra fitters. Wink
