I admit it - I am obsessed with boobs...

Since having BC I now look at everyone's chest and on TV try to guess if their implant is under the muscle, what profile and projection, etc....

Am I the only one?  Is there a support group for this or am I already a member?

I am having a love/hate relationship with my implant (I'm a UNI).  Today I am wearing a crossover sports bra and I really like my boobs.

    It's a good day!

I for one am happy that I am smaller than pre-BC and that I can now wear strappy sundresses and tank tops!

    Love this thread!

I am hoping for full B/small C and I posted pics of my journey so far on Timtam's site.

Here is how I view it: Think of your TE's as how you'll look if you wear a padded bra. Because you'll never get the same projection from silicone or saline.

TE's are like tupperware. They're strong and sturdy and don't bend. Your exchange surgery, to follow my analogy, is like pouring 400 cc's of water from tupperware into a ziploc bag, then stuffing it into your bra. "Where is the projection I had with my tupperware", you will ask.

And the answer is, your projection is now smooshed under your pectoral muscles. They are quite adept at streamlining your implants (your ziplock baggie of water, heh heh).

So what's the answer, how do you get that projection you had when you were wearing tupperware in your bra? ADD MORE VOLUME. Fill that ziploc baggie up with more cc's. BUT, the more volume you want, the larger the implant in base width. That is how they are made. So the trick is to get as much projection as you can without getting the wide hamburger bun shaped flattened look.

Soooo...that is how come everyone ends up wearing a D underwire.  From trying to balance out the flattening effect.

Just my thoughts, everyone has different circumstances to deal with, too.

    Also I'm loopy on Vicodin.

    Very good analogy Cameron!

When the PS told me what size implants he was considering for me I actually thought about filling a ziploc with that amount of water and checking it out!

I can tell you that my implant is much flatter than my real breast.  I have one of each now and they are not the same projection or slope - very hard to match up with UNIs.

I wish I had known that he would have considered removing my nipple and aereola on natural side for better symmetry BEFORE my surgery!

But today is a good day for me and as long as I look good in my clothes I'm happy!

Marie I DID fill up a zippy bag - and my husband said "NO WAY!"  LOL.

I also belong to the boob obsessed club.  Unfortunately for me, I was planning on having breast augmentation before I discovered DCIS so its been a while that I was talking about boobs.  Ive always been very small and then lost weight which made the poor little things disappear.  Ive always wanted bigger boobs - since teenhood - and now at 44 I finally decided that I was done having kids and it was time....how ironic.  I wouldnt recommend going about it THIS way however!

LOL, lago! That's exactly what I'm scared of!! ;)

I love the tupperware analogy, Cameron! I will have to use that when explaining to the minions! Tongue out

SueBee ~ Though I liked my smaller chest... I would usually wear a padded bra (to bring it up to a full B) for clothes.... I'm aiming for not having to wear padded bras anymore!

Susan - EXACTLY - the only time I want to see a padded bra from now on is on my left side when my right TE is filling up...once that exchange happens, Im looking forward to some headlights! (well, at least one for a little while)

OMG am I that old? That's from the Woody Allen movie: Every Thing You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * But Were Afraid to Ask

I was 11 when it came out so too young to see it but I did see it years later. Very funny.

Susan - I am going to officially change my name...pornstarannie has a much better ring to it.

I actually called to double check my PS appt.  I have another fill next week. I am thinking of going in and just talking - no filling - about this whole situation.  I am concerned I will be too big!  I was on the foob site and saw people that were getting re-dos because the foob fell.  Like fell down, down, down.

I asked my PS if they would fall and he said no way. Now, having seen these with my very own eyes, I am concerned about getting more bulky weight in there and what if my thin little muscle wears out because i am doing too much ZUMBA???

Anyone else worried about this?  I am a thin girl, not much holding up these new foobies!!!!!!

I have a boob-ache just thinking about it.

New to this thread but this is my thinking at the moment....

Before BC I had D cupped augmented breasts on a 5'9" 145 pound frame with small bones (was AA/A prior)....band size was 34.  I was assured by my PS at that time ( I was 38) I could handle that size.  Now I have had a BMX and the current PS left the old saline implants in for esthetic reasons (although rippled now) until I'm ready for recontruction. HIndsight is 20/20....For the past 7 years I've had neck and shoulder pain that I hadn't had before.  It didn't dawn on me until now that I only have the 450cc implants and no natural breast on top and no neck, back or shoulder pain that perhaps I was too big for my frame???  I am pleased with the size, they actually fit better into my clothing and the sundresses I would cover up with cardigans because I felt like a porn star in I am looking forward to wearing WITHOUT a bra and not having boob all over the place.  All this said to make this point.....I think I'm going smaller when through with chemo and will change from saline to silicone because of lack of breast tissue removed with BMX.  450cc's will be a nice B/C cup.

Anyone have any comments on tattooing nipples?  Don't think I want to reconstruct those....nipples showing through everything I wore prior to BMX was embarrassing and even though I had "good boobs" couldn't go braless because of that!  Besides, they are gone (my MS didn't want to risk leaving any cancer cells)and fake ones don't have any feeling....

Man, I've missed alot of fun stuff in a day away from this thread ;-)  I LOVE the porn star reference...too funny!!!

    the loose boob was funny!

I liked the tupperware reference too, makes sense...

I am beginning to go to the place of 'anxiety' about my exchange (two weeks from monday).  I have a positive attitude that all will be fine, I trust my PS immensly, and I know this surgery will be a breeze compared to the 5 or 6 hr BMX.  But to me, these past few months of my body 'morphing' from one boob-size to the next has me worried - I don't like the unknown, as I think you could all relate...I am beyond curious about the size I will be, and even MORE curious now about what I will measure in a bra...there seems to be a bunch of ladies on this site that are measuring a D but looking smaller...the anticipation is killing me to know my results!

    Ok, I got that off my 'saline-filled' 450 cc-heaving-chest ;-)

Annie - go and chat, great idea...I like to think this is the one-shot at making the most of this whole crappy BC-thing...make sure you voice your concerns and then your PS can go work his magic!

Pornstarannie does have a nice ring to it, doesn't it!? Wink  Annie ~ the "falling of the foob" is a big reason why I want to stay "smaller" too!  I specifically asked my PS what he felt the "size threshold" was for tipping you over the top to HAVING to wear a bra 24/7 for fear of foob falling.  His reply was that although you are going to have some natural sagging eventually no matter what your size...obviously, the bigger you are.. the more weight to work with gravity to pull down your skin.  He said in a reconstruction patient he pretty much would have more serious support concerns for anything over 500ccs on me (my TE/implant width is pretty wide). (For an augmentation patient it would be a lower cc)  I'm currently at 430cc with my underfilled TE's and feel plenty big enough.  I appear to fill out a 36C bra...so I'm hoping my implants end up being a full B.  It's not like I want to run around braless all the time... I just don't want to be so worried that I can only take my bra off to shower!   ... and I love ZUMBA too!!! :)

NeyNey ~ I had an NSM, so don't know about nipple tatooing ~ but I've seen lovely results on some of the ladies on this board! :)  Personally, if I couldn't have kept my nipples, I would have tatooed something fun ~ I joked that since my hubby was the only other person that was going to see them ~ that I should just make him happy and tattoo a couple of wine bottles on them! (His hobby is making wine ;)

I totally can relate Megan!!!  I finally got my surgery scheduled and the anticipation is killing me and I've still got a month and a half to go!!!  I can't imagine what it will be like 2 weeks out!!

I trust my PS too... I actually see him next week for a follow up (haven't seen him since the last fill in Jan).. and am looking forward to picking his brain and getting some reassurance.

When is your pre-op appt?  Do you know if you will have drains?  Have you guys already decided the implant size or does he/she take several in?  ... two weeks is going to go by fast!!! :)

Susan - ooooh, you have a date!!! yay!!! I know 6 weeks may seem a long way off, but in some strange way, it will seem to go faster...it's been at least 4 weeks (about that?) since my last fill and I can hardly believe that, I hope it goes fast for you, too!

I had my pre-op appt at my last fill, my PS told me about some pocket work he wil be doing, but it seemed pretty straightforward.  I don't know what he will bring in with him for sizes, exactly.  I had requested about 400 to 425 cc's (mentor) max!  Hey - whatever he thinks will make a big "B" small "C" works for me, my big thing was to not be "all boob" from my neck to my belly button ;-)  I was MORE than chatty about that one!

...unfortunately, my PS is not a big "talker", but his work speaks for him, he's quite respected & chief of plastics/recon...sometimes I wish he would give me more details, tho...I am a nosy lady ;-)...but, I have to remind myself sometimes that this is WHY he's the PS, he knows his job, now I gotta let him do it...sigh...

The anesthiologist called the other day, I have nothing left to do...so now I just sit back and WAIT!!! ...have I mentioned the waiting is killing me?!?! ;-)

I have just about gotten to the place where I have to "let go" of trying to control the situation...he knows my wishes, I was MORE than clear about that...now it's time for him to do his job, or like I said to Annie above this reply -work his "magic" ;-)

I won't have drains!!!! yahoooooo! At least I hope this is a good thing, I definitley don't want too much swelling either...

oooh, I do Zumba, too!  ...or at least I attempt it - I might actually suck at it, but it's a ton of fun!!!

Susan - I looove your hub's hobby, mmmm, must be fun to taste-test his hobby! ;-)

...I also like your PS's explanation on size-threshold, makes sense, and I am assuming that I could apply that to myself - I too, worry about looking saggy, I mean, no matter what, the boobs are gonna be fake, I'd like them to look a "bit" perky, no need to start off with too much droop...I've got ALOT of years to work on that, myself!!!

NeyNey - I am a nipple-sparing bmx, too...I am sure someone will come along with experience to help answer your question, good luck!!!

Megan ~ My PS isn't necessarily a big talker unless I probe him with questions.. and believe me I do!  He's very sweet and acts like he has all the time in the world for me.. but I'm sure he breathes a sigh of relief when I leave the office! ;)   It sounds like your PS is very skilled so I'm so excited for you!  My surgery date is April 22nd.. only 49 days, 2 hrs , 24 min to go, but who's counting. ;)

Susan - I think you are brilliant!  It did not occur to me to ask for the foob threshold. Until I saw those pics, I did not even think of a foob fall.  Goodness, I can not imagine that!  I can not wait to see my PS and go through all those questions.  Remember, I am at 375cc and measured (by the officially certified mastectomy fitter at nordstroms) a 34DD!  I tried on a swimsuit top and OMG, I look huge.  I just kind of look booby, if you know what I mean.

Now I am in a quandry...do I let my PS do his magic or do I bug him to death (as usual) with questions...I am exhausting myself on this issue and I don't even have a date yet!  Tongue out

Megan - so excited for you...how bout you kill your PS with questions and report back to us.  I have been on the foob website and have learned so much.  Just think, no more coconuts!  SOON!!!!

Oh Annie, stop! You must have been drinking at lunch! Tongue out

..and I vote for "bug him to death"!! This is your one shot! (Well... you could have a revision.. but nobody WANTS to do that! :)  I thinks it's better than just assuming you guys are on the same page.

Personally, I listen to what my PS says, do a little research ~ like on these boards and especially with the help of Whippetmom who is a wealth of information! ~ and then I kind of soak it all in and make a decision based on what feels right/comfortable to me. :)

Edited to say:  Since I haven't had my exchange yet... the jury is still out on whether my strategy works!! lol!!  If I disappear off this thread come May... you'll know. ;)

Ha! Before any drugs are administered prior to surgery I will grab myPS, look him square in the eye...and make sure that the last discussion we had was of me being a perky large "B" is the last thing we discuss before I go "under" ;-)  ...promise!!!!

I am going into this thinking NO need for revisions, unless they are minor cosmetic fixer-uppers...these implants will hopefully be here to stay...wow, look at my positive thinking - I might have to come back and read this when I'm freaking out about exchange, sometime!!! ;-)

I did email with whippetmom, since I couldn't load my pics to the site (loooong story), and she agrees with the PS about size, etc.  I have emailed pics and she has offered her wisdom, which was right on the money.  I feel like if I feel good about the size, & my PS and Deborah both are aiming for the same ballpark, I should be in good shape!

I am just at the point where I have analyzed every angle and it gets exausting ;-) ...I care verrrry deeply about the final look, but I have been boob-obsessed and been thnking about this as long as you guys have, (hmmm, I think you're surgery was a month or so before me, susan)...but my over-analytical head needs to accept that I have done my research, voiced my wishes, & listened to his plan...now it's all about the skill and knowledge of the PS...

...I like your strategy, susan...and if 3/21 comes and goes and I have fallen off the bc.org website, you'll know why!!!   ...I'll be out hunting down my PS ;-)

I love that I can come on here and find such lovely ladies to vent this stuff to - you are all awesome!!!  ...because you know in a couple days I'll be back on here flipping out about something and might not have the "calm, and bizarrely rational head" I have about me today!!! ;-)

If your PS and Deborah agree than I think you've got it made! :)

It looks like I actually had surgery only 6 days before you, Megan! ... My PS gave me the "ok" to have the exchange surgery mid March...but my son has a couple tournaments (with travel) the last two weekends of March that I didn't want to risk missing.   I could have been having my exchange the same time as you! Undecided

NeyNey, I've been thinking a lot about it and I think I'm going to go with the 3D nipple tatoos. So no aereola construction or anything, just the tats.  I had my exchange 3 weeks ago and may end up needing a revision so I guess it will be a while before I get there.

I was supposed to have drains but for whatever reason, my PS changed his mind and I did not have them. I was so happy about that. And I didn't have a lot of swelling.

I know it is early yet, but I am not very happy with what I look like. I'm trying to not look much in the mirror and just be patient for the dropping and fluffing and hope for some improvements.

I was an A or perhaps AA before breast cancer and my PS expanded me up to 310cc maximum.

He said since I'm small framed and narrow ribcage he did not expand beyond 310cc.  What I don't understand is I've read alot of threads where some women who were small as I was(A, AA) and they were able to get a full B or even a C cup.  How did they do that?  I really wanted to have a full B cup, but I didn't have a choice basically.. my foobs look like a full A cup now.  Is it possible to be an A or AA cup and be able to expand to a full B or a C cup?

Thats where i am headed....the doc isnt sure about a C but he has no problem with a full B.  Of course, I need to start having fills to see how I do.  But he doesnt expect it to take very long and doesnt expect my skin to have trouble.  I guess we'll see.

Wasin ~ YES it is possible to have been a natural A/AA and then be a B/C.  There are quite a few women that have done that and I've seen it on the pic site.  Not sure why your PS would say that? Have you been fitted for a bra?
