Thanks for all the warm wishes!! Deborye, that blanket that the bear has himself wrapped in looked so soft and comfy.... Much like the one I wrapped myself in on Friday.... Beverage in hand... TV set to junkie programming.....

Apple, Wish we could all go back to those days! Where I used to be sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for results hoping that they would call right away, lately, I find that my train of thought is... If it's going to be bad news, I would prefer a few more days of ignorance.... Funny what a difference a few years, and a whole lotta water under the bridge, make!

    Michelle,

Hope the book is a good! I looked at the reviews and they have been very good!! Since your daughters have read it, could spark some interesting (or hilariously, uncomfortable) discussions! Currently reading 'Sarah's Key'... It is good but, the subject matter is a bit depressing.... Last book I finished was 'The Help'... Loved that one.... who knows.... I may add this one to my list...lol!

    Laurie,

Hope that monitor shows you have nothing to worry about!!

    Debbie,

Thank you for thinking of me! It means alot! How is Chuck doing? Hoping he's healing up and that his jack-hole boss found religion and is treating him well.... lol!

Seaside- Chuck is doing ok. His Jack-hole (Lol) boss is treating him better, even praiseing him now (wth) dont know what got into him but hope it keeps up (Knock-Wood) But rumor has it they are not planning on keeping the new GM (jack-hole) I tell ya this place is like a soap box. Chuck just keeps his mouth closed, does his job and comes home. Hope you are doing good!

I had my appointment with the dentist today to talk about exactly what he will be doing during the extractions of all my upper teeth. I can not believe how much it is going to cost just for extractions and dentures, almost 8grand. Is that a rip? I mean it sure dosnt sound right to me. I like him he seems very honest but he could be pulling the wool over my eyes. My dental insurance sucks, so going to be paying almost that amount.

I am all sad that you guys didn't like the Dragon Tattoo books. I thought they were good. Not exactly deep or anything, but good plane reading.

Oh and every since Apple mentioned Rueben sandwiches i have been craving them so after dentist appointment we went shopping i asked DH, how does ruebens sound for dinner with some macaroni salad (store bought) He said, that sounds good. So i go to get the rye bread, he says, how about sourdough, ok, i say. I go to get the baby swiss, he says, how about jack cheese. ok, i say. I go to get the pastrami, he says how about ham instead. ok, i say. I go to get the saurcrout, I say is this ok or would you rather have applesauce on it. LOL- he didnt find that amusing but crap a rueben is a rueben. So rueben was ham, jack cheese, saurcrout on sourdough. So much for my Rueben. but it was still ok.

    Debbie,

Glad to hear that DH's boss has backed off!! In this employment environment it is most often a bite your tongue, show up tomorrow nd do what you need to do to get paid at the end of the week.... Sucks but... it is what it is...

As far as the dental work.... My DH has periodontal disease and requires quite a bit of visits/work and I know how poor the insurance coverage is..... The out of pocket charge is just shameful!

Sorry that your Reuben turned out to be just Rubenesque..... Lol...

    Momine...

I read the first Dragon Tattoo book and thought it was OK.... Haven't ruled out the follow on books but, since I haven't read a lot of books recently and have been gathering lots of suggestions, there are a lot of books that I want to read.... Soooo many books.... soooooo little time!

Debbie- thanks for the chuckle!  I laughed reading your post :D  It still sounds good, but not a reuben!

Seaside- when do you get more results/tests etc?  I am glad you indulged with junk tv and a beverage.  The little things can do wonders at times.  I swear, since this heart thing I have been having an extra glass of wine....or 2... ;) and it helps.  Whether I can't feel them because of it or it slows them down I will take it!

Laurie- I'm glad the wine helps, so sorry you have to even deal with this. Like others said you are too young to be dealing with this. I hope they figure it out soon and get you back to feeling normal.

Bless all of you dealing with issues right now. Your all in my prayers

    Much love to you all!

Laurie:  A little red wine is supposed to be good for the heart.  Hopefully this will turn out to be just those pesky PVC's and a beta blocker will calm them down.

I had to chuckle too Debbie. fortunately i never take my husband shopping with me.. Even if he gives me a ride, he stays in the car and does book work and talks on the phone.

Unfortunately i am not really into going to the store at the drop of a button, so often substitute important ingredients, but never on Reubens.  since they are so fattening, they have to be authentic.  However, any grilled sandwich is good, so I bet you had a wonderful meal.

Finally, everyone will be together at dinner tonite.  If I find the ingredients for Mee Krob (I've been looking) I will make it tonite.

Apple- I feel cheated because it was my idea and he got what he wanted not me LOL!  Seems most of our arguments are inside a grocery store, and i just didnt have the energy to argue yesterday lol!!

Dh leaves Thursday for Chicago to a huge food show, he will be gone for 5 days, I will make my own ruebens while he is gone... Maybe do a little  gambling and eat what I want!!

Zumbagirl- I like my turkey slices like that as well, I buy sliced pepper turkey at the deli and try to skip the bread and put cream cheese or feta cheese and roll it up.

Debbie - my DH and I eat lunch together most days, and the man loves his panini maker!  He eats his reuben his way, and I eat mine my way...for me, that means it had to have sauerkraut.  The good news is that he's ok with the rest of the traditional ingredients.  And regarding the dental issues - perhaps you should get a second opinion.  This is a big deal and a second opinion will probably make you feel more comfortable with whatever you decide.

    Laurie - red wine, woohoo!

OK, got my appointment for my PET scan - Friday, May 11th at 11:30 a.m.  That all kinda sucks because I've got to wait a week and a half to have the test, then I'll probably have to wait over the weekend to get the results.  Well, now that I think about it...my daughter's college graduation ceremony is the 12th.  For that day, ignorance may be bliss!  Still trying to hang on to "false positive"...

Michelle and Seaside, I'm hoping for good news for both of you.  As for tumor markers, I read here on bc.org that some drs. don't order them because they can be so unreliable.

Laurie, I'm glad the monitor won't cause you a lot of inconvenience.

I will be going to my PC dr. on Thurs. morning with my record of blood pressure readings for the last two weeks.  I'm expecting some more adjustment of medication.  My guess is that I may have to split the dosage and take half in the morning and half at night.

Last night's dinner was meatloaf (mixture of pork and beef), red cabbage cooked German style with diced apple, vinegar, brown sugar and carraway seeds.  Also home-made mac and cheese left over from Sunday.  I added more milk and grated cheese and heated it in a saucepan to restore the creaminess.

Tonight's dinner will be slices of meatloaf heated in tomato sauce, mashed potatoes and garden salad.

Debbie, I, too, got a laugh out of your modified reuben sandwich.  Your first mistake was consulting your dh!  Nothing is better than a good reuben sandwich.  My fingers swell with the salt as I'm in the process of chewing and savoring every bite!

Oh, goodness, tomorrow is CSA pickup and we still haven't eaten all of last week's veggies.

  • LuvRVing
    LuvRVing Member Posts: 2,409

Carole - is your CSA every single week?  I've thought about signing up for one, but I don't think every week would work for me.  My daughter did one a couple years ago and I think it was every  weeks.  The season here is short - they usually run from about mid-June to mid-October.  It might be better for me to focus on a couple of good farm stands.   Hope they get the BP meds figured out for you!

  • carolehalston
    carolehalston Member Posts: 8,214

Yes, the CSA pickup is weekly.  The spring membership runs for 12 weeks.  I paid for 11 weeks, $30 a week, because we plan to head north the last week in June.  There's supposed to be enough veggies for a family of four and we're only a family of two.  I'll be glad when the tomatoes and cucumbers and summer squash start to ripen.  We had zucchini in last week's bag and it was delicious.  Two varieties I had never seen in a grocery store.

It gets so hot down here that gardens are about spent by the end of June.  People plant fall and winter gardens in late Sept.

Michelle- Glad you got your appointment set. Wish it was sooner but hopefully you can stay busy and we wait with you hopeing for good news!!  Thats a good idea on a second opinion, the price just doesnt sound right to me, DH makes decent money but he is whineing about the price so i will shop around.

Carol- Is CSA all organic? Im going to check into this but dont think they have it here.

    Seaside- Any news yet?

Michelle, I'm glad you have a delightful distraction while you wait for the PET scan results. As I always say to the kids, if you can't actively do anything about the worry, try to change your mind's channel. I hope your clicker works for you!

Loved your faux reuben tale Debbie...and I hope you can find some good (less expensive options) for the dental procedures. Of course, I'd value going to the dentist I know and trust for such a big procedure. Good luck!

I have my first post-treatment mammo tomorrow at 7:30AM so I can get right to school after. Am first concerned that it is really going to hurt....then who knows about the results....

Dinner on my own for the last two nights....popcorn last night since I got home at 7 and had to call a close friend whose mother and (!) dog died within days. Finished the popcorn tonight with some bought hungarian mushroom soup. Nice! Even with the popcorn. :)

For tomorrow's lunch, I made myself a roll up (I make them like you do, debbie) with lovely lean roast beef (still working on "beefing up" those mitochondria:), Lacey swiss, a bit of horseradish mayo, and a leaf of kale instead of lettuce. First time I'm trying my roll ups with kale.....will let you know.

    Dear God:

These are my friends, whom I love and this is my prayer for them
Help them live their life to the fullest.
Please promote them and cause them to excel
    above their expectations.
Help them to shine in the darkest places where it is impossible to love.
Protect them at all times, lift them up when they need
you the most, and let them know when they walk with you,
    They will always be safe.

    Love you Girls♥

    Debbie and all....

I am thinking I will be getting my results in the next day or so.... Not sure what the end result will be but, where the uneasiness comes in is, they saw something.... Brought in a surgeon who I had never seen... He did the repeat ultrasound (and at one point during the US the US tech said to him.... I don't think your in the right spot anymore)... Then they got back to the right area (I think) and did a compession where the shadowing disappeared (a good thing)... and said this is typical of Cooper's Ligaments (the ligaments that keep our boobs from sagging).... Don't know how much I trust this guy...

All of this crap will have to be addressed in the report so can't wait to see it... My BS will also have to sign off on the report before they will release it to me... Hopefully, if there's any doubt in her mind, she'll order a closer look.... In any case, if I see anything in the report that a I am uncomfortable with I will put in a call for a meeting to discuss results....

All in all... I am thinking the results will come back OK.... It's more of a matter of how much I can trust the results I am given.....

    I want

Lacey... Hoping your first post-treatment mammo goes well!! I found at the place that I go to that they were very cautious and considerate with respect to ensuring your comfort during the whole procedure! If, at any time, you feel uncomfortable, don't be afraid to speak up! You have definitely earned those stripes!! Thinking of you tomorrow AM!!

    Deborye...

Thank you so much for the prayer!! Love ya, too and remember you all in my prayers each night....

    ((((((everyone))))))

It seems almost strange that so many of us are going through health issues or tests at the moment.  I am thinking of all of you and sending prayers and love your way.  Lets all keep each other posted on how things progress.  I hope in a month from now it is all history and needless worry.

Tonight I will admit I am tired.  The heart thing makes me tired and I have been too busy the past few days.  Tonight by the time I got out of the Dr's and got home with the boys it was almost 6.  I fed them left over spaghetti and chicken from last night at their request and after they went to bed DH and I made tuna melts.  I prepped everything and he grilled it all on pumpernickel.  They were good and what I felt like having.

So I want to end the day sharing a proud Mama moment.  Around 11 I could hear one of the kids whining in bed and went to check it out.  It was my older son, I asked him what was wrong and he said he had to pee.  He actually woke up and knew he needed to use the potty.  This is HUGE!  He hasn't worn a diaper at night for a couple of months and I have a 50/50 chance of changing sheets at 3am.  I think he finally has GOT IT!  I was so proud I almost cried.  I am going to let him pick the days activities tomorrow as a reward- life and errands be damned.

Good night all and sweet dreams.

Laurie- Awe, what a cute proud mama moment you had. I remember when my DD was finally potty trained, i cried too, its such a sweet moment when you know they are growing up! Your son deserves a great reward! I'm so sorry you are tired, i bet this heart thing is wearing you out. Bless your heart!!

Seaside- Dont you just hate when they talk in front of you but not in the sense you can understand it and they wont tell you much and leave you hanging. I have never heard of coopers ligaments but hopeing thats what they saw and nothing more. Hope you get your answers soon!!

Hope everyone has positive results on their tests, and Joyce, praying that your eye surgery goes well and enables you to see better.  Amazing what can be done with eye surgery these days.

Laurie, the stress alone from those PVC's can make you tired, so please take it easy and take time to rest until you get a good dx.

I've been really lazy since we returned from vacation and haven't done a lot of creative cooking...just enough to get by.  We ate our big meal lunch out yesterday at Grand Luxe...salmon picatta, so I made split pea soup for dinner with a salad.  Dried fruit and nuts for dessert.

Welll  yesterday was the day from hell for me!  I have had a full blown head cold that quickly dropped to my lungs,  was so close to calling the doctor on Monday as I have had a fever since Saturday that would get better with tylenol but then start to climb again.....argh.....then right in the middle of my online schoolwork the computer crashed!!  I am trying to get everything done early this week as we are leaving for Ohio on Fri for my sons college grad.

there must be a little dark cloud hovering over the east coast right now giving us all of our little challenges and bumps in the road.  Lets hope it passes soon and we all get some good news and reports.

When I went in search of drugs for my cold I bought some pre-made salads, macaroni and potato, and my poor husband has been eating them since Sunday with first some simple chicken breast, then a burger, then hot dogs. He said it was like a 3 day picnic..ha ha  told him it was the best I could do being sick.....I may call the doctor today!

sorry you are sick carberry. Oddly since being treated for cancer i haven't even had a cold. go figure

I made the Mee Krob last nite. it was a lot of work and tasted absolutely awful.. nothing like the delicious dish i remember. However, the family liked it and we had a lot of fun prepping garlic, frying the noodles (they literally pop fried in like 30 seconds), and making the sauce. My bossy son #1 totally took over the wok. He has managed a bbq for the last year or so, has always been in charge and was literally pushing me away from the stove.. "Mom.. this is too dangerous for you - I know all about deep frying". He is an expert on everything.

Tonite I am grilling boneless chick thighs and corn - I'm going to try and grill it in the husks like they do on tv.. Had a wonderful day yesterday with lots of energy and got a lot of cleaning done. Now i need to plant the rest of the bulbs.. maybe today.

about potty training... I was total fail with my first. He was almost 3 before he finally got it. Son #2 however was a champ. At about 18 months he ran to the toilet, tore of his diapers and did a number 2... and he was trained. I never even contributed to the learning process. The daughter was easy too, mostly because she had a bladder the size of a football. She could go for hours without peeing in spite of drinking lots of water and strawberry milk.. (she was totally in love with the stuff).

Apple:  So glad you are feeling better!  I'm sure your meal was delicious...you just haven't gotten your taste buds back on track yet.

Carberry:  If you have a big event to attend, I think a visit to the Dr. to get a zpac is in order to help that lung congestion.  It can zap that right away and get you on the road to recovery.

My DGD is going through potty training right now.  When I visited her last week, she always wants to go to the potty with me, so when we went into the bathroom, she took her little seat and put it on the toilet for me to use.  It was so cute!  I had to explain that grandma was too big for that...it was her special seat!  She is such a joy.  I enjoyed my older grands as well...they are now in their teens and twenties.  I have a GS who is 9 then my little DGD and DGGD.  It's fun having them spread apart so you can continue to enjoy them in their development stages.

Yeah, a big east coast cloud!!!  I looked at all my lab results very closely today and I can't see any sign of trouble anywhere.  I looked specifically at the calcium numbers (bone mets cause calcium to leach into the bloodstream and may cause an elevated calcium number) and anything related to the kidney or liver.  Everything is extremely good so I am relaxing a bit.  False positive.

Deb - thanks for the prayers! You are very sweet, and always put something on here to cheer us.

Carrie - time for a visit to the doc.  If you have a fever, you probably have an infection.  Antibiotics to the rescue!  I'm with apple - haven't had a cold since two months before my first diagnosis in 2010.

Ah, potty training.  Two of my grandkids (ages 6 and 4) are STILL in night-time pull-ups.  Drives me nuts as my kids were all dry through the night by the time they were 3.  Sometimes I think the pull-up gives "license to pee."  I think my DD is finally really working on it with them, so maybe the end is in sight.  Congrats, Laurie, on making good progress at such an early age!

And Laurie - hope you can catch up on your rest today!

Joyce - safe travels, and enjoy every minute of Las Vegas...well, except for the time when you're locked in a conference room.  Hard to "love" that part of the trip.  But I'm sure you'll learn a lot.  Sometimes these things are like trying to drink from a fire hydrant - information overload.  Be sure to take some mental breaks   Slot machines are good therapy Wink

Joyce- Sorry about your eye problem hope the surgery corrects it! Have a safe flight and have fun in vegas (Love that place)

Kaara- It really is hard to get your energy back after a trip- Took me weeks before i felt better after hawaii.

Carrie- I have been fighting my cold for over 3 weeks now it turned into pnemonia dr. gave me a zpac i felt better but still coughing a lot and still congested this seems to just hang on. You should go to the dr so you can get some antibiotics if its in your lungs. Hope you feel better soon. Funny comment on the 3 day picnic lol!

Apple- Like Kaara said I'm sure your dinner was delicious but your taste buds are still off. You DS sounds so cute, trying to protect his mom! Here you are the culinary chef and he tells you, you'll hurt yourself lol!

Michelle- Well, that sounds like good news, so when will you know for sure? . Are your calcuim levels high too?  I know on all my blood test it shows my calcium levels are high but no one ever says anything about it to me. Hope they tell you somthing for sure here real soon.
