Tazzy - it was angel food cake cut in cubes, lemon pudding, cool whip and blueberries.

Bedo - glad you are feeling yourself.  There are lots of women who decide against the anti-hormones.  No one really knows what's safe or whether or not you'll be fine without it.  Or whether or not you take them for five years and still have a recurrence (I have a friend who had a recurrence after 13 years).  BC treatment is a crap shoot, for sure.

Tazzy-Oh what a mess that must of been, I have had my share of mishaps in the kitchen too and it seems like it is something that takes forever to clean. I looked up El gaucho in Aruba and the menu is different but then again its in aruba and may just of changed the menu to fit the flair of flavors for the carribean.Could be though not sure.Hmmm!

Michelle- That triffle looks sooo amazing i will def be making that. Did you cut the angle food cake in bites and layer it? The turkey sounded so delicious too, i have never made it with the coke can up the wazoo but heard it was very good.

Lacey- Your friend is lucky to have you there to support her through this. Sounds like you will be having a nice 4th of july.

Moonflwr- Fresh fruit is so good right now i always try to eat lots of watermelon and other fruits in the summer since it dosn't last long.

Eric- Yay on DW last tx coming up!

Bedo-Glad you are feeling more like you! Speghettos?? lol! i havnt had those in years but used to love them. thats what i like about this thread we can share the most easiest and fun recipes!

Bedo  when I dont cook my DH loves chef boy ar dee   I dont buy it but he stocks up when he does a grocery run.

Debbie  curious as to what a "sheep" pan is? ha ha  Laurie will appreciate that.

Eric  Yes! the end is in sight, good luck to your wife and getting through this.

Had a cookout on the water with a small grill that attaches to the boat...my wonderful girldfriend made 4 pizzas to grill and they were absolutley the best pizza I have ever had. She made four different ones, pre-cooked the dough at home in the oven for just a few minutes then added the toppings wrapped them in foil, then grilled them out on the boat, she added four diff cheeses on each one that was oooey, gooey.....she is amazing!

Selena  Chicken souvlaki?  wanna share how you make that?

Lacey - I don't think there's any relation between the El Gaucho(s) here in the Pacific NW and the one in Aruba - but I could be wrong.  The ones I am aware of that are related are Seattle, Portland, Bellevue and Tacoma.  Great food, but you have to be prepared to spend about $200.00 for dinner - so usually we go for happy hour and are much happier spending about $50.  Laughing  But for special occasions we'll do the whole dinner thing.

Tazzy - that watermelon catastrophe sounded miserable.  I hate cleaning up those kinds of messes.  I did drop a whole one once, but luckily I was outside.....

The trifle looked awesome.  I don't make them very often anymore, but when I do, I use whipping cream and make the pudding using 1/2 milk and 1/2 sherry.  I never thought of using angel food cake Surprised the last one I made I used blueberry scones cut in hunks.

Selena, if you made the chicken souvlaki, please do share the recipe!!!

Gardengumby - I thought about real whipping cream in the trifle.  But I was worried that the cream would deflate and separate overnight.  I'm not generally fond of cool whip, but it does hold up in something like this.  I may try it once, maybe even adding a little flavoring like rum or cognac.

    http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/chantilly-cream-recipe/index.html

This Emeril Lagasse recipe suggests adding one melted marshmallow to stabilize the cream...that sounds like it would work.  I think I'll have to try it.

Michelle - I use Darigold heavy whipping cream (from Costco, of course Smile) and have not had a problem with separation with that brand - I also whip it fairly stiff.  I like the idea of the melted marshmallow, I'll have to try it sometime.  In the past I have used one packet of plain gelative in the whipping cream (when using other whipping cream than Darigold) and that solved the problem fairly well, too.

Ah, I like the plain gelatin idea, too!

    Hi Selena and welcome!

Carrie- Havn't you ever heard of a"Sheep" Pan they are so neat! LOLOL!! Just kidding of course. hehe! Pizza sounds like it would be the perfect food while out on a boat and drinking beer! And a cleaver idea too!

Michelle- I actually tried the marshmellow trick and not sure if i saw a difference or not maybe mine was whipped just right where it didnt make a difference, not sure but i will try it again if i have trouble getting it to stiff peaks. Oh and i was glad to hear that Joyce was feeling better. She got a new puppy?

Going to get my license renewed today, i have lived here for 2 years and have not changed over from Ky, i know, shame, shame. I have to take the written and for some reason im nervous like im taking my first test for school or something. I have been reading the manual over and over my DH thinks im silly he said its common sense,Tongue out now that scared me!!

Good luck with the written test.... Who among us wouldn't be a bit nervous about it....we don't have to take too many written tests these days!:) As a positive reframe, however, just think about how much more control you have over this test than all the other "tests" we undergo at the doc office or hospital!

Tazzy. Do you have dogs? They would probably love to help with the cleanup.

Debbie..where in KY do hail from?

No I am afraid I dont have dogs.   When I lived in England I did - we had shepards, but since I've been in Canada no.   I should've called in next doors dog Tucker - he would've cleaned it up good.

Good luck with the test Debbie.  Brilliant way to look at it Lacey.

gardengumby... my Mum always used sherry in trifles.... she would soak the sponge in it oh! yum.

Debbie - Joyce's new baby is a malti-poo and currently weighs in at about 3.5 pounds!  She's a cutie although a bundle of energy.  She looks a lot like this picture, so cute!

Funny story about drivers license testing.  We had to take the written test when we moved to Missouri, and my CT license was expiring first, so I fretted, I studied, and then went and scored 100% on the test.  My DH couldn't believe I got a perfect score...lol!  So he waited and waited.  Then one day in a little bitty town in southeastern MO, he was coming back from a business road trip and he got stopped - they were doing a license check.  And since his car and insurance were both MO, he got a very expensive ticket.  Then he took the test and got a 95 or so!  I need to get a NH license - we had just re-registered our cars for two years and my MO license had just been renewed for something like 6 years when we moved here.  I should probably check it out as I'm sure we'd get hassled if we ever got stopped.

In Arizona, regular licenses are good until the holder reaches age 65. Commercial licenses must be renewed every 5 years.

I was renewing my commercial license...which listed brown for my hair color....the license lady behind the counter looked at my license, then at me and back at my license. Then she asked the other license lady, "His hair. Should I change it to bald or gray?".

    Whatever.... :-)

No one will let me be the driver because they don't realize how lightning fast my reflexes are.  Also, people see my car and think, "so what if she totals it? It's a piece of sh*T. " So they stay out of my way.  I remember my brother shouting one day, "You're blind! You're blind! Pull over! I can't stand it!!" Ok, so it was raining and nightime and I couldn't see all that well, but I recognize buildings, if I can't read road signs.  My opthalmologist asked me 2 years ago, "How did you get a license?"  I "guessed on the last two exams and passed, really they look like Gs or Cs or Os or  Fs who knows? I did very well.  I can see very well in daylight, but, as I said, they get upset because they don't realize how lightning fast my reflexes are.  I have a good driving record.  I haven't had an accident in quite a while.  "My brother said, you don't get IN them you just CAUSE them" That's a lie. I really do care about other people and wouldn't drive if I didn't think I was safe. You'll do fine, Deb, just remember there was a trick question about what to do at a yellow light.  Don't remember the answer

PS, apple my stomach did feel a bit "odd" today.  I took and arimidex.  I didn't like it. I'm stopping again for a total of two weeks  Summer vacation Wheeeeee!

    Funny stories about drivers licences!

We ended up staying at the lake the entire weekend and had a great time.  The breeze off the lake was amazing and it was great sleeping weather there without a/c.  We all vowed to do it more often.  The kids play on their own and sharing the work load of the meals/chores is great.  We are so lucky to have such great friends.  So....while we were there and opportunity presented its self to me.  We have been tight on money and a friend of ours owns a diner right on lake Winni.  So I am going to go wait tables on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8-2 starting tommorow :0  !!  My brothers girlfriend and my in laws will help out with the boys and we will get some much needed cash.  It's only for the summer and will help quite a bit.  But oh my, I haven't waited tables in 12 years or so.  I have to be there tomorrow for 6:30 and it is 45 minutes from home.  I was told they would show me where everything is and then I am on my own.  So early to bed for me tonight, with a 4:30 alarm set.  I am nervous, but it will be good.  (who goes back to waitressing on July 3rd on a lake?!?!)

Dinner tonight was chicken Madeira, it was yummy.

Oh Laurie - I think that is going to be so hard, I sure hope it works out for you!  I hope the tips are good - you're going to spend some gas money to get there and back.  I'll be thinking of you tomorrow morning when I'm drinking my coffee.  My heart goes out to you, I so remember those days when just a few more dollars seemed to be the answer.

Bedo - I'm going to be watching out for you!!!

Hope the tips are huge to make it really worth your while. :)

Laurie, can you leave Sunday night after boys go to bed and stay over and rest up Monday after work and then go home Tues after work?  It would make for a shorter day, and maybe you could stock up on meals for the family and enjoy some down time if the boys and hubby, are OK with it.  There's lots of ways to communicate these days.  Who does this?  A smart person!

Laurie, before had a great idea, if you can find a place to stay. My daughter stayed at a cousins house when she worked two days in a row with a 45 min commute. It saved her lots of gas money, she slept on a couch. Also wanted to say take good care of your feet you will be on them a lot and some chemo cause them to swell, so just watch out. Otherwise good luck, may your tips be large and the dinner trays light!

Omg! What a long stupid day, but first...

Michelle- I just love those kinds of dogs they are soooo cute i have a friend who has 3 of them and just love them. Thanks for posting that. :-))) Funny story on your dh and the test. I had it in my mind that if i got stopped here i would just say that i still lived in Ky b/c of personal problems but visiting Dh and going from there, i know tacky but dont want a ticket.Tongue out

Eric- I lived in Paducah, ky loved the place except for the tornado warnings all the time. Did you live in Ky?

Laurie- Great news on the new job, You have done it before so i have no doubt you will do good. I second the good shoes and maybe sleeping over for the second day, sure would make it easier on you! It is hard work as you know but good money!

Bedo- I needed a good laugh that was a riot reading your post on your driving. I agree with Michelle will be watching out for you lol! Also im sure that the yellow light is one of the EIGHT i missed on a 35 questionier.... ^&%$#

So it started out with Dh having to take my Chyrsler300 into a shop this morning because it had been cutting out after putting gas in it and then started stalling right after for a few miles been going on for sometime, lots of forums with people with this same car having this problem anyway long story short (too late) It is going to cost about $1500.00 to replace the entire gas tank and some filter thing amajig! Dh came back in a pissy mood and took it out on me ( i didnt make the dam car) I know its because of his steroids but jeezo. So then i roll the air conditioner in the living room for him and broke 2 wheels on it, he was so mad and acting like a d head. so when i went to the DMV i was so upset so im officially blaming my failure on him.... LOL!

I get to the DMV and not only do i have to pay the five dollars for the test but 60 for the license i find i have to reinstate my license for a ticket i got back in 1989 when i lived in oregon before WTH! I forgot all about it and thought they didnt go back farther than 10 yrs. That cost another 75 bucks. So the test starts and i think i have this aced because of all the studying i did but i clicked on 2 things by mistake not paying attention and then they asked stuff about motorcycles What? When you cant think straight and they ask STUPID questions it just spirals out of control lol! I got 8 wrong and thats not out of 35 because i didnt get that far i think it was somewhere around 23 questions boy did i feel dumb i left went and sat in the car and cryed, all over a dumb written test LOL! I came home and felt sorry for myself and wouldnt talk to DH for hours until he apologised. I will go take it again tomorrow i just hope after studying some more tonight i get it right im not sure but if i flunk it 3 times i have to wait like 3 months to take it again and it expires on the 11th! Good Grief i have taken this test numerous times in my life and passed. Wish me luck everyone!! LOL! Sorry for such a long post i really did shorten it too.!

Bedo  Way funny on the driving story!  You should be a comedy writer.

Debbie Some days its just better to go back to bed and hide your head under the covers and then start over the next day. You can whine here all you want, we will listen, and probably serve you some cheese with that whine.

Laurie, I know you probably wont read this for a few days, until you get home and recover, but good luck with the new job. You may just find it invigorating to get out and see new people and have a new challenge.

Tonight is fireworks on the lake.  I am throwing some sausage and peppers in a crockpot to take on the boat and some apps to keep everyone happy while watching. Better than the fireworks is the sight of all of the boat lights out on the lake.
