My dad was from Williamsburg. I spent a lot of summers there and in Akron, OH, my mom's hometown.

Akron was OK, but I much prefer living in the country....and 5 miles outside Williamsburg was certainly country.

Bedo - funny story - I was laughing out loud!

Laurie - good luck with your job.  It sounds exhausting, but tips can be pretty great.  My DIL is a waitress and loves it.  Commuting can be rough, but once you get into the groove, it's not too bad.  I drove my commute for a long time, but eventually gave up and now do public transportation.  It's easier in many ways - and certainly cheaper than paying $20+ to park each day...

Debbie - you'll pass the next time.  Just try not to worry too much and all the stupid little stuff will fall together.

Sharon didn't pass the commercial driver written test the first time. She got 100% on it the next day.

    You'll do fine Debbie.

Debbie- I am so sorry you had such an awful experience and day!  I know you'll do great tomorrow.  I'll send lots of stregth and calm your way!

    Bedo- great driving story!

Thanks you everyone for your well wishes for me today.  Holy crap.  lol!  I have been up since 3:45! My youngest came into bed with us and I never fell back to sleep as I had to get up at 4:30 anyway. I am exhausted to say the very least.  But it went very well, the money was fantastic.  It is a small place so there are no trays, just carrying on your arms.  I will say I am glad it is only for a few months.  I do have places where I could stay if I can.  I may do that if I can get extended babysitter coverage until DH gets home from work.

Ok, I need to keep moving or I am going to lay down.  Dinner tonight is the easy camping recipe, the burger dish with tomato sauce cooked with zucchini and served on rice.  Easy  easy.

Laurie - I'm so happy that it was a good day for you, even though you're dog-tired!  Keep it simple on these work days, for sure!

Debbie - good luck, I'll bet you're rocking that test today!

I had my annual eye exam today.  At least BC hasn't yet messed with my eyes, but I'm still dilated.  I hate that part.  We're going out for Taco Tuesday tonight, there will be 9 of us.  It's going to be a party!!!

Debbie, I hope all went well today....so you can chuck yesterday out altogether! You had many positive vibes for test passing coming from this direction today. :)

Laurie, so glad your first day went well. Yea tips!

Carrie, sounds like a fun fireworks feast on the boat, and Michelle I'm sure your crew will have fun making their own fireworks at taco night! :)

    Happy Fourth everyone!

    Yippee Deb - great news.

Yeah we just had Canada Day (July 1) - just like your Independence Day.  As it fell on Sunday most people had yesterday off.

Tonight I am doing bbq steaks with a green bean and cherry tomato onion garlic mint thingy.  Dunno what its called as my sister made it up.

dice one medium onion and 2 garlic cloves - cook in olive oil over medium heat until onions are just soft.  cut handful of cherry toms in half and add to pan - squish down and cook for couple of minutes.  then add green beans (enough for 2) with about 150ml water.... add chopped mint (fresh is best but dried works too).  Cook until green beans are al dente - add fresh mint to serve.  Delish either hot or cold.

They are saying we are finally getting some hot weather this weekend.  Hope so DH and me are going camping with 4 friends.  This will be the first camping trip this year.  Am so looking forward to it.

Debbie..glad you passed...I had the same "oh crap" moment too when it stopped early for me.... :-)

Tazzy...thanks for the well wishes for us. Wwhat is hot there? No, i'm not poking fun. While in Kentucky I learned that it doesn't have to be hot to be uncomfortable. 100F in Phoenix is actually very comfortable. 95F and raining, like would happen in Kentucky is not the greatest.

I'm so far behind I'll never catch up.  This is the time of year we work 5 long days every week.  I'm reading - just no time to post.  Laurie - glad the first day went well.  Lots of good advice to stay overnight.  Debbie - congrats on the pass.  Hi everyone else.

When you were all talking about spaghetti-Os, couldn't help thinking about Beenie Weenies.  I still like them & always have a stock in case of hurricanes.

Happy 4th to everyone.  I have water aerobics class in the morning.  Not loosing weight but I think I feel more "trim" (or not?).  I'm going to lunch with two ladies in the neighborhood since none of us have family around.  Can't decide if I'll have prime rib or fried shrimp.  Duh - the prime rib will win.

We are at our sixth day of over 90 degrees. It got up to 93 today and was not quite as humid as it has been, so the weathermn was calling it abreak in the heat. I usually don't complain about the heat, but I am wilting. At least we've had no issue with our power, some areas not too far away have Ben without power or water for days. I can't imagine going through that.

Roasted zucchini tonight with a big salad and some leftover pizza. I hated turning the oven on. The fruit has been great lately. Had some great cantelope, watermelon, cherries and blue berries. Tomorrow is DH's birthday, but he has to work. :(. Don't know what I will make for dinner tomorrow, we're going to wait and go out on the weekend.

Good news Laurie and Debbie! Happy fourth everyone!

Made Meatloaf for supper, a small one so it didn't heat up the kitchen to much.  I still love spaghetti-O's.

Michelle, that dessert looks scrumptious.  Everyone's dishes and desserts sound delish.

If it is raining in the morning we will NOT go see the parade in town but will go to some friends house for a cookout.

Just a quick note - we are supposed to have a neighborhood breakfast tomorrow but now the forecast is for rain.  We've had nothing but gorgeous weather and it was supposed to be nice all week.  Is it really gonna rain for the single day holiday?  Wouldn't that just be a bummer?   Let's hope the tstorms pass us by!  We're planning on breakfast sandwiches or eggs benedict.  The guys are supposed to cook.  Coffee cake, fruit, pan fried potatoes, mimosas and bloody mary's.  Mother Nature had better not fail us!

Have a fun and safe holiday, everyone!

Wishing you all a wonderful July 4th - may you find relief from the heat or find the heat if you need to.   I hope all your bbq's/picnics are full of food, good company and happy memories.

Debbie  In the poo?  the whoe time?   hmmmmm sounds interesting.

I like the sounds of the green beans also.  I can never come up with different things to do with veges.

Was supposed to rain today, but totally missed us, we need rain so badly, the yard is dry and crunchy.

Today is a bbq at a friends house after enjoying the lake and then on to another friends for fireworks. WHEW  I am tired too much fun wipes me out.

We never ate the hot sausage and peppers yesterday, so today I will add some spaghetti sauce to them and take to bbq.

    Happy 4th everyone!

has anyone made mini meatloafs.. they are fun, taste about the same and can be frozen for future emergencies.  i just form them into little loaves in they cook in like 20 minutes at 400.

No.  I have seen them and thought what a great idea.   Maybe I will make and put some in the freezer so DH has them there when I have surgery.

DH is at golf again this evening so I have a spinach and provolone pizza in the freezer - that may be dinner.

Debbie yay on passing the test!

Michelle- Hope your breakfast turned out ok.  It rained here until 9 or so.

Apple- that is a great idea, I need to learn to freeze more meals.

Happy 4th everyone!  Sounds like everyone has great plans.  Today is actually my DH's birthday.  Poor guy has to work but he is hoping to get out in the afternoon.  We actually don't have much planned at all.  Where it falls on a Wednesday it is kind of business as usual for us.  We are hoping to spend the afternoon together in the pool and Dh has requested that we go out to dinner.  There is a Japanese steak house he loves where they cook in front  of you etc.  It is my least favorite place to eat so we never go.  So....he gets his birthday wish and we will go there tonight.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
