Laurie, I knew you would understand!

Bobo- And because I know you will appreciate this- I am starving!
I am good all day and do not snack have a light breakfast and lunch and blow it all on dinner

You're right, I do love it when you're starving! I don't know why.
Okay, you know you're supposed to have a bigger breakfast and lunch... but of course that is not always possible... so, that being said... I can't wait to hear about it when you blow it!
We are all counting on you. Have dessert as well!

unfortunately I am not a morning person so I have something small, half a mini bagel and half a banana. At lunch I am so busy feeding the kids I just kind of have a little of whatever. By dinner- almost 7 hours later I could eat my foot.

Hello, all! Michelle, hope the tx puts some color in your face and some energy in your life! Laurie, hope all the cold stuff goes away, yck! Bono, Not sure I met you before so HI! And, I think just DLP is good! That way works for all Life Partners. hi to KAARA and Carberry. And, everyone else I missed.
My DD and I went to a workshop last night. It was for Wildtree spices and flavorings. You buy a set of the seasonings, get a shopping list, prep, (or buy a kit already prepped, ie: meat cut and diveded, onions, peppers and carrots in the correct recipe bags. Etc. Guess which way I went, LOL) and go and spend an hour or so putting together 10 freezer meals for 4-5 people Awesome. I didn't even have to cut up anything, just add the flavorings, and pkg it . I broke almost all the meals in half, so I actually walked away with 17 meals for two people. Tonight I am having the fancy burgers, tomorrow the honey balsamic chicken. Cant wait to try the Italian chicken medallions and southwestern flank steak. I left the flank steak whole, so it will serve 5, I'll save that till i have someone else over. I also left the crockpot meal whole. As it seems strange to cook only a half crockpot. But I could also freeze the cooked stuff again. I'll let you know if it was all worth it. Works out to about 3.25 a serving. So, interesting. Also, I am excited about cooking again. That's got to be good. I eat out way too much, and by myself I get in a rut cooking the same stuff. They also have a website with the menus, so you can do it at home. Of course they use Wildtree products, but still neat, and they are all organic and natural with few if any additives. Guess I am excited about this. But ill shut up now! LOL Much love to all. Anyone out there do these or go to a workshop?0 -
Hi Moonflower!
Congrats on your new cooking system. I love that sort of thing.
I am excited about Mocha Maca Crunch coconut ice cream.

Laurie, I am exactly like you. I try to have a protein shake for breakfast (didn't today).
I like to eat when the kids are not around. When no one is sticking his hand into my lunch, or throwing it. Or asking me to get them something!

I made a tasty soup yesterday. Cubed chicken breast, cubed andouille sausage, chopped veggies (carrot, celery, leeks), diced canned tomato, chicken broth (combination of home-made and boxed), and egg noodles. Had a big bowl for lunch. The sausage adds zip. Love noodles in soup.
Finally getting around to making the chicken enchiladas for tonight. Bought a canned red sauce at Fresh Market. The brand is Hatch. I found Frontera salsas and bought two, one tomato and one green, but no Frontera enchilada sauce. The side dish will be cabbage slaw. I like to slice up the cabbage myself.
Bobo, remember that one person's slop can be another person's appetizing food.
Chabba, do you ever include home-made noodles in soup? Wondering how they would hold up to re-heating the leftovers.
Michelle, hope the transfusion does wonders.
Kaara, your red velvet meal sounds delicious.
It must be spring. The trees are leafing out and the azaleas are starting to bloom as are the redbud trees. Love that spring green color of the new leaves.

Carol, I know you asked Chabba, but I never put noodles IN my soup. Always on the side, that way they dont soak up all the soup! And to reheat, you just rinse the noodles with hot water and add them the reheated soup.

I feel better this evening. I walked upstairs and down, and wasn't totally winded. We watched The Sessions - interesting movie and DH made popcorn for DD and me.

So glad to hear the infusion gave you more energy, Michelle! I really enjoyed your Kauai pictures (not sure if I mentioned that or not). Popcorn sounds so good. For now, I've had to give it up but I plan on resuming my love affair with it once chemotherapy ends.
Debbie, I read your post with great sadness. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and your family.
moonflwer, the seasonings/bags concept sounds interesting!
--
I continue to love reading all of your food stories/descriptions. The other night I made stuffed peppers. I hadn't made them for about a year. I used very low-fat ground beef and brown rice (and the other usual ingredients). I don't know why it is but food like that always tastes even better (IMO) as leftovers. Perhaps it's the infusion (ugh, that word again) factor (sauce/flavors). My Italian husband always swears pasta/sauce is better the next day.

Michelle: Glad you're feeling better!
Laurie: You have had a lot of sickness over this winter...I know you will be glad when it's spring.
Debbie: Prayers to you and family..this has been a sad time in your life, but you must go on.
Looking forward to my BF's return this evening. Today I am visiting my DGD in W. Palm...we miss each other! Dinner last night was stuffed cabbage (store bought) and some leftover mashed potatoes. Since I had no vegetables or a salad, I took a veggie pill last night...lol! Time to get back to healthy eating and exercise...I've cheated enough! It's hard to eat right when you're alone. At least I have my green smoothie for breakfast each day, which is loaded with greens and fruit.
Have a sensational day everyone!

So last night was chicken wings (have not had a chicken wing since? hmmm I dont know) blue moon beer. Some of the group bailed on us for various reasons, so it was just one other couple and us. All in all good night out, but I am not too fussy as I really get cabin fever.
Moonflwr that sounds like a great way to plan meals and have them all ready to go, a real time saver for people working. Have not heard of the program.
Michelle Woohoo on popcorn night!

Carrie- Glad you had fun!
Yes, too much sickness in this house this winter. I think it is a combination of DS1 starting school after being home with me and bringing us all the germs and that there was a lot of virus' this year to top it off. Poor guy is miserable, worse than when he had his tonsils out. I am taking vitamin C and D and airborne like crazy to try to dodge it!
Tonight I am going to make chicken cor don bleu with rice and green beans. Haven't had that in awhile. I have Nancy's minestrone recipe sitting on my desk. I was going to go to the store today and get everything I needed to make it, I have a huge craving! But it was not in the cards. Maybe DS will be better tomorrow and I can do a grocery run- depending on the weather.

Laurie, it's funny you should mention that. I'm craving it too and it's on my menu for this weekend. We are on our way back to reality, sadly. We had a lovely trip to the land of magnolia and sunshine. I only hope the snow has melted off of my driveway!

Nancy- So glad you had a great trip! DS 2 now has a fever of 101- looks like I will be waiting till the weekend to make the soup! I am SO looking forward to it! Enjoy yours!

Laurie you really deserve the mom/nurse of the year award for all you've had to contend with this winter!

Monica, I somehow missed your post about the interesting workshop on putting together meal packets. How is that working for you?
My chicken enchiladas turned out to be more of a casserole. I made the mistake of putting the whole dish together ahead of time and the tortillas soaked up the enchilada sauce. I would have liked more "chewiness." The dish is definitely a repeater but I'll do things a little differently with the preparation.
Tonight we're having pot roast with potatoes and carrots. And tossed salad. Good aromas in the house. I'm such a carnivore. Just like the bad sister!
Bobo, what are the kids eating tonight?
Susan, I hope you're having good meals in Oregon.
0 -
Hey there Carole -- reporting in!
The kids are having vegetarian chili, Israeli couscous, and steamed collards. Haven't heard from either of the other triplets lately. Bedo, how was your presentation?
Laurie, so sorry to hear your little ones have been sick. I know how hard and stressful that is! Hoping you're immediately in your pj's whenever possible, and that you're able to pop a square of choccy or something whenever they are napping.

We had linguini with meat sauce for dinner. DH brought me a big bowl and I thought I wouldn't be able to eat it all, but I did...nice to get my appetite back! I feel so much better today - more energy than I've had in days. I was able to put away some laundry and I actually started dinner tonight. Amazing what a little blood will do!
Laurie - sending you patience with your sick boys. And the good fortune to avoid getting their germs!

Forgot to announce that today is my last day to be 69!

Tazzy, I loved that site! Especially the vegetarian and under $10 sections
Moonflower and Bobo, Moonflower called you Bono! Hahahahha! Sorry Moonflower, I hope this doesn't start another round of mis-typings, Laurie can be hilarious at that.
Carol, good riddance to the 60s! May you thrive and prosper!!
Michelle, SO glad you're feeling better. You have way more energy than I!
Lee A Are we the only ones who like stuffed peppers?? I put ground"crumbles" in them and make then in the crock pot. Yummy I don't even bother buying the expensive red and yellow peppers, and so good for you
Bobo, you can't be the bad sister. Dodo is. Ok you can if you want. I am going to be really bad. I took tomorrow off. I'm going to "return my hair to it's natural color" the home kit didn't work real well) and then go the dentist again ( rolling eyes) all for one tooth. And, I'm having herring in wine sauce. (The jar kind) for dinner. No naughty puppy stories tonight
I think you are right about DD. She is not asking for food and is buying her own fast food. She called me when I was an hour late getting back from work tonight "GOD, Mooommmm, are you ALIVE?!?? You are ALWAYS home at this time. Wondered if you were in a CRASH! Can't you answer your PHONE???" I think Hazel, my Mom who passed before her birth entered my body and has moved on to hers. Or she thinks that I am becoming the equivalent of her daughter.
At a facility today where I did a consult I time traveled back in time to a place where the entire staff were acting like 5th grade girls. I hate that.
Oh, I may pull out some mussles later in butter and garlic sauce.
Monica those sound great! Would you be my personal chef and ship em to me? Eh?
Debbie I am thinking about you still and always will.
Susan, bring us back some recipes!
Hello to those I missed. My post work adrenaline just pooped out and I realized that I need to sit with my fire, kitties (doggies not here at moment thank God), and listen to music ot I will lose what's left of my mind.

Carole: HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Hope you do something fun to celebrate. I'm just over a year behind you. jan

Happy Birthday Carole! Hope tomorrow is a grand day!

Carole, hope you have a fun birthday planned! Have a happy new decade! I'm only a couple of years behind you, too.
I spent most of today making the chicken chili that I am bringing to the local Chili cook off. I now know that I should really not put myself through this in the future.....just because my relatives like my chicken chili does not mean I have to enter it in a cook off!! In the midst of preparing to saute the onions, I had a refrigerator shelf malfunction, and as I was saving an entire bowl of newly made chicken stock from falling to the floor, I forgot about the oil heating on the stove. Suddenly noticed it smoking (learned more today about smoking points of different oils after this little incident) and got it off the burner with a lid on to avoid a fire. But the thing that took up most of my time today was actually writing up the recipe, since it had been an experimental, thrown together dish up until now. It is finally done.....:) Now all I have to do is bring some condiments to go with the chili on Saturday morning.
Laurie, hope the boys get better fast....you need some fun in the sun! Soon, soon it will happen. And yes, this has been a rough winter for newbie students to navigate all the viruses. Next year is bound to be better.
Michelle, glad for you that the transfusion did its job....and that DH just keeps expanding his cooking repertoire. So lovely! Hope your improved energy keeps up!
Closing out on this before I lose the post....:)0 -
Happy birthday Carole! I hope you enjoy your day.
Re: the freezer workshop, the burger recipe was ok. I would add less of the seasoning. But the honey balsamic drumsticks were awesome..I cooked up one of the half servings. So there were 4 drumsticks.I just roasted potato cut in quarters with it. Those were good to, I put on the steak seasoning on the potato. Yum. So now i have two days of leftovers. LOL. My DH is going to his dads this weekend, so I will probably have to go out to eat at least one day, I get lonely, being home alone all week, and the weekends too. So I go to eat with people around sometimes, even if I sit by myself! LOL much love to all. Oh, BTW, the work shops are for Wildtree products. Google freezer workshops and wildtree. You should find more info. I'll let you know about the rest of the recipes as I use them. Also, don't worry about reading me because I allow autocorrect its own way, somethings its too funny!0 -
Carole have an absolutely marvelous birthday, which I recommend to include cake!

Carole Happy Birthday!! Celebrate in style
Bedo I have the same problem with my daughter..She has decided that we (her Dad and I) are totally incapable of going to NC alone and looking for retirement homes. she has weasled into our trip to chaperone us, we will be picking her up in Baltimore. This is the same child that hated us so much in her teen years, she wanted to move out at 16. My mom is still alive and I dont need another one!
Lacey After all that kitchen mishap, I think you really need to share that recipe. It would just make it all worth while for your troubles.
Last night was cheeseburgers done on the grill and mac salad...trying to get in the summertime mood!

Carol- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I know you will celebrate with style! I hope you are having a wonderful day! If I had the right stuff I would drink a dirty martini to toast you! Wine will have to do
Carrie- Your dinner sounds good, I can't wait to get back into summer foods and eating veggies from the garden. LOL at your daughter tagging along. Sweet- even though she might be stepping on your toes a bit.
Bedo- I was cracking up at your post!
We were back at the Dr today with my poor DS1. His throat hurts so badly the kid won't even swallow his own spit! Never mind getting him to eat or drink at all. His shirt looks like he is teething and he has been screaming and crying from the pain since early last night. I was doing Motrin and Tylenol and staggering them every 2 hours and it did not even come close to giving him relief. I love his Dr and was psyched that we got to see him and not a nurse for a last minute appointment. He said he thinks it's a virus, gave him antibiotics just in case and codeine for the pain. He is asleep right now. He must be exhausted because I am- the poor kid was up all last night crying. Fingers crossed that tomorrow will bring relief for him and that DS2 does not get it. I sent DS2 to my in laws for the day as he was destroying my house and trying to eat pudding as I am holding DS1 crying at 7 this a.m. Oy!
Last nights dinner came out amazing, I need to make chicken cor don bleu more often. I have no idea what tonights dinner will be. I don't think DS will let me out of the bedroom long enough to cook. Maybe left overs...
I did laugh to myself when I was at the Dr's and thinkin gof all of you saying I might be nurse of the year! I heard myself as I talk ed to the Dr.... He has a bad cough, like a bark, croupy sounding but not croup. His fever isn't high enough for it be hand foot and mouth and he has no spots. But his fever is down and I believe he has sinus issues because you can see it draining.... the fact that I break it down the way I do...and that I have seen ALL of these illnesses and more. It's just silly.

Happy birthday Carole... (is it a belated one already?). Raising a glass of vino in your honour.
Hugs all xx
