Seaside- Even if they came out with a study saying chocolate was really unhealthy i think i would still eat it LOL!
Michelle-Thanks, since i got my new computer a couple of weeks ago i have been learing how to copy/paste and changing my screensaver every few days i will keep your picture of the sunset for quite awhile its is so soothing. I have been watching the voice too, omg your daughter went to prom with Javier?? That is too cool. Wow is it that time already for your chemo? Seems like you just had it not even a week ago, Hope it all goes well and you have the same minimal SE!
Beinghopful- Your chili with the fritos sound so good next time i make mine i will cook it like that. I know what you mean about the same ole stuff, sometimes just veggies sound good,
I have a question, tomorrow i go for a yearly mamo on right breast, and having a chest xray for my lungs on left MX side, while they are doing the chest xray on lungs, does anything show up on xray if there were abnormaties on the chest wall like lumps ect.. Not that i think there might be, just curious.

Debbie,
That's a really good question but, I'm afraid I don't have an answer. I tried to google around a bit and couldn't really tell if it would show up or not. Hopefully one of the others will have a better answer for you. Hmmmm... Now that I look at the time stamp on your post, was your appointment today (Wednesday) or is it tomorrow? Either way I hope it went/goes well!
Michelle,
I have tried to post a comment on your blog a couple of times and can't see where what I typed posted. Going to repeat it here and please forgive me if it's posted on your blog as well! Especially if it's posted like 5 times... LOL!! I really AM an idiot when it comes to the computer!
Just wanted to say how much I liked the new 'do' . What a perfect style for summer and it must have really been meant to be, if it fit great and didn't require any additional styling!!!
Beautiful sunset on the lake!!!! Just breathtaking!
Hope your chemo was uneventful today and that your side-effects are little to none!!
Thinking of you!

BeingHopeful1,
Gotta watch those Fritos!! They are dangerous! I am not a big chip fan but can EASILY down an entire bag of Fritos! They are soooooo good and sooooo addicting...LOL
To All,
Tonight is my daughter's birthday dinner and we are heading (at her request) to a local mexican place!! I think there's a large, frosty margarita calling my name!! lol

Michelle- I echo Seaside. I love the pictures, the new wig is fantastic and I was jealous of your toes!! The sunset was a slice of heaven. Hope chemo went well and you are resting and letting your DH pamper you a bit.
Debbie- I don't have an answer either but I would say I think so...but I don't really know. I hope it went well and that you're doing ok.
Well today is once again fish-tastic Wednesday. Once again my son requested steamers at the grocery store today so we'll have that with some baked stuffed cod, corn on the cob and salad. I was all ready to get swordfish and try it, I am trying to widen my taste of fish, I've always been a bit fussy when it comes to it. 11.99 a pound! So I got the cod for 4.99 instead. At least the thought was there right? Lol!

Thanks for the pork recipes Laurie! I've made pulled pork for football tailgates using a port shoulder in the crock pot, but the tenderloins are probably better, in terms of less fat than the shoulder.
I'm sitting here watching the kids in the pool (gosh the weather is Perfect!), but I need to get my arse in gear and figure out what I'm making for dinner. Hubby is at a work dinner so it's just the kids and I. BeingHopeful, your frito recipe is something my kids may actually eat, but I don't have the ingredients in the house. It may just be hotdogs on the grill and some avocado/tomato side for me. I cube an avocado, halve some grape tomatoes and add lime juice, cumin, olive oil and a few dashes of hot sauce.
Seaside, happy birthday to your daughter! I hope you Enjoy your Mexican food! Yum I love Mexican food!
Michelle, good luck with chemo tomorrow. Oh BTW, I watched the first episode of the Voice and thought Javier Colone was fantastic! I didn't really watch the show after that, because I didn't really get into it. However I caught last night's episode and I was glad to see he was still on the show. He is a fabulous singer and is absolutely adorable! I hope he wins!

Hi everyone! Just a quick check-in...I am home from chemo. Everything went fine, but it is a 5 hour process! That's OK, I guess, as I think long term effects are less if the chemo is administered slowly. Hubby just came in from getting take-out. I have a spinach salad with grilled chicken, fried squash raviolis, sweet potato crisps, goat cheese and sauteed Fuji apples. Pretty interesting and tasty!
So here was the "news of the day": first of all, I lost 3.5 pounds, even though I have not skipped a single meal and I've had ice cream 3 times in the past two weeks. Now that is not going to get me DIEP reconstruction, although it's great for the diabetes. I'm now down to 123 pounds - I think I weighed that when I was 21! My white counts were great - a little above the high end of normal, my reds were just slightly below normal and my protein level was slightly low. So I need to add more iron-rich foods and more protein to make sure those levels don't go down. LOL, I am a meat lover and I eat my share, so it was funny to see low test results. I've got more details on my blog, for all you wonderful "followers."
Looking forward to watching the results of The Voice. Our household is rooting for Javier, obviously! The competition was really good, though. In any case, I'm sure all 4 of the finalists will have a bright future.

Thanks, Seaside and Laurie- I asked the mammo lady about that and she said im not sure. Was going to ask the chest xray tech but she never stopped talking long enough for me to ask LOL! Yes, it was today, i was up late.Seasside- Happy birthday to your daughter, oh man you made my mouth water with the frosty margarrita, that sounds good right now!! Laurie- fish-tastic-wednesday, that is funny!!
Sherrill- Glad the weather is nice there for you, the pool sounds so nice, we are rainy and dreary out today but not enough to stop DH from playing gold, im officially a golf widow!! LOL!

Michelle- I just read your blog, you must be tired having such a long day. I know oatmeal has some calories in it maybe you can add that with out the sugar just put lots of cinammon in it?? Wish i knew what foods would make you gain weight for a diabetic! I lost weight when i first started my chemo then i started gaining, but i bet you look great being back to your high school days weight! Hope you are feeling good!

Debbie - unfortunately for me, the only good oatmeal is in a cookie I haven't been a fan since I was a kid. I don't like cottage cheese, either, even though I like just about every other kind of cheese on the planet. I'm not going to worry too much about the weight loss, I'll just try to focus on the extra iron and extra protein and hope for the best.
Had dinner, feeling OK, watching The Voice.

Well it's been a busy day and I am going with a simple easy dinner. Tacos! Wish I had one of those margaritas to go with it!

I'm still feeling pretty good after yesterday's treatment. We are having steak, grilled asparagus and cole slaw. And hubby bought some pizza dough and is intending to make a grilled flatbread with olive oil, garlic and parmesan. This should be interesting!!!

Michelle, glad you are feeling well
Tonight my son has a lacrosse game, so we had to eat early. I made chicken scampi. There are lots of leftovers, so I may eat it cold tomorrow for lunch! We're going to the beach tomorrow, so it would be perfect to pack in the beach bag.
And Laurie, there is no reason why you shouldn't make some margaritas! It is summer, afterall.

Here ya go Laurie! Enjoy!

Michelle,
My offer still stands to be a fat donor for your DIEP!! Sadly, I definitely have enough to go around for everyone at this point
Seriously though, you have been going full tilt with the move, getting settled in and enjoying being back with your family! You are probably burning huge amounts of calories and that's probably where the weightloss is coming from! Hopefully, once you settle into a kind of routine, your weight will stabilise and you may even gain a bit!
The plan for tonight is to have steak here too! My local market had rib-eyes on sale for $4.99/lb could not pass them up! However, my husband is busy building some tomato trellis' for my garden so no telling when we're going to eat!
It was such a lovely day here today.... Warm, sunny and NO humidity!!! Just PERFECT! I weeded most of the afternoon and am feeling a bit stiff tonight!

Sherrill,
Chicken scampi sounds great!!
Ohhhhhhh... Going to the beach!! I will be there 1 week from this Saturday for a whole week!!! Can't wait!!
Hey, is there room in that beach bag for me? I don't mind sharing the space with the chicken scampi... Of course, there may be none left when we get there...

Thanks, Seaside! I've got a donor right here - my chubby hubby, who promised me that if I fought this battle, he'd take better care of himself. I told him I wasn't going to go through all this just to have him suffer a heart attack or stroke! He's got some work to do!
You're probably right about the fact that I'm burning up a few calories. And I am basically eating just half portions of meals at a time because that's about when I hit the "all full" level. Right this minute, hubby is running in and out - he's got 3 things on the grill and he's hopping...LOL. Dinner is almost ready!

OK, First time posting, but, by coincidence am trying something new tonight! I have been watching The Next Food Network Star and Mary Beth (My current fav to win) made a meatloaf with buttermilk and panko breadcrumbs that everyone loved. So, I found a recipe for a bacon-wrapped meatloaf with pank and buttermilk and am giving it a try! I teach and am home for the summer recovering and need a hobby!

Hi Janeybw!
Seaside, you may end up smelling like garlic0 -
Janeybw,
WELCOME!!
I saw that episode last night and that meatloaf was a HUGE hit! Let us know how your dinner goes!
Sherrill,
I'm OK with smelling like garlic! It'll keep the vampires away...lol

That chicken does sound good! And easy. I am going to have to give it a try. Had my second Taxotere and Herceptin on Wed. This is so much easier than AC. Only one more and I will be done with Taxotere!
DH cooked yesterday. He made salmon according to The Barefoot Contessa's recipe. I'm not really a salmon person, but I liked it! Also had local corn on the cob (finally!) and roasted brussel sprouts. Here is the salmon recipe in case anyone wants it:
One and a half lbs salmon
One TBS dijon mustard
One and a half TBS Worstershire sauce or soy sauce
Three TBS good Olive Oil
A 1/4 ts of minced garlic
Wisk together, pour half over salmon fillets and marinate for at least an hour. We broiled, but you can also grill. Do skin side down. We broiled 6 to 7 minutes on first side and five to six mnutes on second side (they were well done). Remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes, it will continue to cook. We served hot, but could also be served warm or chilled. After cooked, pour over remaining marinade.
Happy fourth of July weekend everyone! Enjoy yourselves.

Michelle- Man does that pizza ever look great!! Did he make his own dough? If so a recipe? Hope you are feeling good after you tx.
Chabba- pretty pic, is that seattle?
I didnt feel like cooking too much tonight so bought a box of frozen margarittaville calpyso shrimp which was breaded and had coconut in it, it was amazing, had a great sauce that came with it which was a mango salsa- Only 6.99 at safeway had about 10 shrimp in it. Also cooked some broccoli and green beans, and had a small sweet potatoe, good but seem a little stringy right now, dont think they are really in season untill fall. And of course my dark chocolate bar.
Happy 4th everyone!
