Blessings:  Isn't that just great!  I had two pair of jeans that I bought about 15 years ago when I was much smaller and never gave them away..they were expensive ones.  Well the same thing happened to me...I tried them on today and they fit!  I LOVE them they are so comfortable...they fit around my waist instead of hugging my hips like the jeans do today.

Wren - even though we still have our cleaning crew come twice a month, the only way DH and I really declutter the house is when someone visits!!! Laughing Then we scurry around and throw stuff in boxes and lug them to the "throw-all" room and close the door.

Kaara - Awesome! See? You kept those jeans for a reason!!!

Thanks, 2jaysmom - I went on Optifast really as part of my BC treatment. I desperately needed to lose the excess body and belly fat for my ER+ cancer. So now my MO is thrilled! Still have more to go, but it's been easy for me. No thinking about it. Just doing it.

If you have things that still have price tags on them and you have an account at the store you might want to try returning them. I returned 4 boxes of things a month or so ago and am still getting checks for things they have processed through. It is much more money thna I expected. The store is ColdWater Creek. I am a customer for life after this spectacular response from them.

I also got two boxes of donations out the door. I feel good about this. I have two piles I want to go through before I put them back in the closet or the dresser. I am still procrastinating.....................

Today I'm making a trip to Goodwill with a load of "stuff"!  It's unbelieveable what can accumulate in even a vacation home!  Just because I have lots of storage space doesn't mean I have to use it!

    WOW!

Found a person who will take the couch/sleep sofa downstairs with the tiny cat scratch on the leg of it.

No group wanted it when I told them it was scratched!

She lost her furniture in a fire and Habitat for Humanity contacted her for me.

What a great way for a good piece of furniture to keep on going...

Now I will just need to keep the "couch spot" empty of clutter.

GramE, Kaara and Ang7, Yes, yes, yes!

I found when I was emptying my mom's house that large organizations were picky about what they would take. Justifyably so,  but on a few things the guy doing the pick up didn't want to work any later. I am only talking minutes to load out a good leather recliner, but he refused. The fellow taking the scrap metal was totally thrilled to have the recliner for himself. I was happy to give it to him.

My Dad also had a bunch of naval cannon balls that the metal scrap guy was equally thrilled to carry off.

I'll tell you all what my DH did one time. I had two plant stands, wrought iron, sentimenal value to me and over 70 years old. He put them out for trash because I wasn't currently using them in the house. He never mentioned them until I was looking for them when we moved to a house with a wonderful sun porch. I have forgiven him, over and over, but I still get angry from time to time when I have cause to think of it. I do not throw his things away. I suppose I am hurt.

    Hugs Ginger

I didn't do any official declutering yesterday, but I did do some heavy duty cleaning.  The master bath needed detail cleaning.  DH realized it was time for a new toilet seat when he found our on the patio.  I decided to take the caulk from around the shower when it had mildew under it.  That led to me finding an area where the caulk was missing and there was a spot of water damage about 2" x 8", so I got that area prepped.  DH said he'd do the finial patching today.  I also pruned my bathroom plants and cleaned the carpet.  Unfortunately I didn't throw one single thing out, but the room looks so much better being orgainized once again.

Meece, replacing the caulk reminds me that a plumber contractor friend once told me to fill the tub at least half way before you put new caulk on.    When you in the tub, it "sinks" a bit and if you weight 125 pounds or so -- it can leave gaps.   I hope this makes sense.

Unfortunately I am in an apartment and the (may I use the word crappy ?) tub and caulk get sprayed each day with bleach.   No big deal since I live alone and keep the shower curtain pulled.

Makes a lot of sense, GramE.  This was my shower only and it is full tile over a cement shower pant, so I don't think it would have mattered.  At least I hope it wouldn't sink any when I got in.

DH did not do the final patching yesterday, but at least I have it sealed and protected.  Won't be doing anything tonight as the kids are coming over.

We are getting ready to head out of state to attend DGS's first birthday.  We had a "Koi club" meeting on Saturday and I suddenly got worried that my fish might spawn while we are gone.  Spawning can really mess up the water quality and clog filters.  SO, we decided to force a spawn with the female we were most concerned about.  Took most of the afternoon Saturday to prepare but luckily it happened overnight.  Cleaned it up, and tried with our other female koi yesterday, and last night we had success with her as well.  That being said, our pond will not endure the mess or danger of spawning while we are gone.

The down side... I got no de-cluttering done at all.  Yes, I got the house straightened up pretty well and fairly clean, but nothing made it to the dumpster or donation boxes.  Tonight we pack, and we head out tomorrow after work.  Can't wait to hug my little man!

Meece:  Glad the spawning thing worked out for you.  Now you can relax on your trip and enjoy that DGD's birthday.  They are special!

I still have a pile of clothes sitting on my bed in my guestroom...need to take them to goodwill, but keep thinking my BF will add to the pile.  He doesn't seem to want to part with his fat pants although I know he is not planning to ever wear them again.  He says they are too "new" to give away...lol!

2 bags of shredded papers down the trash chute.   File cabinet totally empty, but pile on table to be sorted and probably shredded.

where DO all the papers come from,???!!!

i did a really big sorting-cleaning, right before marybe came to visit..

i had boxes, and boxes of photos unorganized, so , i bought containers for them, put contact paper on them, and made really pretty boxes stacked with the file cabinet.. since she's here, we still managed a trip to goodwill, and one to recycle my used books, so slowly, but consistently, we're getting it done. i have very little energy, but the "little every day" s still working..

the problem is, when i look at the total sum of the project, in 20 years, i'll be done..

oh well, not doing much of anything else, so onward..3jays edited to add: ave a great visit with the b day, Meece, and congrats with the koi pond!

Hello ladies, long time no see (post). Teka: I love it that de-cluttering and gardening are your hobbies.  It has been fun to catch up on all of you.  Kaara:  I would love to have a vacation home in NC. NC sounds nice & cool. 105 here yesterday. Meece: I love koi and never thought about having any. What a cool thing. Gingerbrew: thanks for sharing about your wrought iron plant stands. It helped me.

I think that life gets in the way of decluttering.  I went on the trip of a lifetime.  I went on a 7 day cruise with my husband and family.  So of course I bought new clothes, travel books, new wig, and spent hours and hours researching what to see. That all took a lot of time. One reason I had not posted lately. We had a great trip and now that I'm home is seems that all my "Stuff" has grown again.  I'm tring to make that last push to get every room clutter free. My house is better than it use to be, but I feel like everytime there is some change in my same old - same old routine (ie. big trip, college graduation, niece's wedding) that I get behind.  What am I doing wrong?  What can I do different?

hotandcold:  I hear you...it took me almost two weeks to unpack and get organized when we arrived in NC.  In all fairness, I had to clean out the closet of all the old clothes that no longer fit us (we both lost weight over the winter) so they wouldn't get mixed in with the ones that do, so that was time consuming.  Once it's all done though, my life is back to normal...I just have to make that trip to Goodwill with the bags of stuff;)

I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip...half the fun of going is planning and packing...the rest is having it unfold almost exactly as you planned!  I love travel, even if it's just a Sunday drive!  Always something new to see and explore.  We have two timeshare weeks that we can use over the next eighteen months and haven't decided exactly when and where we'll use them, but it's fun to dream;)

Right now my hobby room is cluttered with all the trappings of a new computer, plus a new wireless ergonomic keyboard and mouse.

The computer can stay, but the keyboard and mouse are such pieces of junk they are being returned tomorrow.

Anyone have any good recommendations for a good wireless ergonomic keyboard? Heck, I'd even go back to my old ergonomic one with a wire...but there's no place to plug it in. And I just can't type on that small keyboard that came with the computer!!!

    Sheesh! Yell

ptdreamers - I've been using a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic keyboard FOREVER....but when I got my new computer, there was nowhere to plug the old keyboard in. So I ordered their newest wireless keyboard and matching mouse and UGH!! HORRIBLE!!! Took it back and got a refund. I did take a look at the Logitech keyboard, but the key placement is not the same as the Microsoft, and therefore, is harder on my wrists. BUT - just came back from  Best Buy with a "USB to PS/2 adapter", and got my old keyboard plugged into the new computer!!! YAY!!

3jaysmom - had to laugh about getting stuff done on Prednisone. Last fall, right before my BMX, I got SO sick with a terrible upper respiratory infection. I couldn't clear my airway, so went in for a breathing treatment and a Solu-Medrol shot. Well, I had been bedridden for a week before I went in, but as soon as I got home, I started cleaning the bedroom and bathroom in preparation for my surgery. At 4 a.m. I was in my hobby room, lifting up the daybed BY MYSELF, putting those risers under the legs. I felt like the Incredible Hulk! I don't think I slept for two days. Hope your stress levels are going down by now....hugs to you!

Hope everyone had a great weekend....

Blessings, Glad you found a solution. I was going nuts for the longest time trying to deal with my laptop and not being able to see alot on the small screen. Got a twenty inch monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse and hooked it altogether. What a difference.

I'm so excited! Just sold an old table & chairs we had stored in the garage.  We had kept them thinking that our kids would use them some day.  HaHa, what in the world was I thinking? They all said they didn't ever want them.  So I made $75.00.  I can't believe how much space they took up even though it was very small apt. size.  I sold them on Craig's List.  I was worried about using Craig's List, but it was ok.  I had moved them out on the front porch area after 1st lady called.  She came an hour later & bought them.  Yipeeeeee.!  Here's a cheer to decluttering in 108 degree heat.

Back from visiting my angel GS.  I have ben trying hard to get the house cleaned before DH leaves for Chicago on Sunday, so I can spend my alone time declutering.  Our alarm system was acting up so DH cleared out the closet where the main power panel was so the tech could get to it.  All that stuff is in the guest room, so I think that will be where I plan to declutter while he is gone.

Well, I am moving towards so organization.  I went to Home Depot last Friday and purchased the basic wood for my shelves in the sewing room.  They cut some of the wood to length so I could get it in my sedan.  I came home and DH was surprised.  He doesn't have the vision yet, but I will sketch it out.  He was heading to Chicago and asked that I not do anything until he got back, and I complied.  But I could get it started whenever I want now.  I can't wait, but we are heading out of town this weekend, so it will have to wait.

believe it or not, DH helped!!i was asleep late last wkend, so HE cleaned out the fridge!!(k, didn't wash the shelves but what man thinks about that?) i must of crabbed, cause he came back with more odo ban, today, too...

we're deep sixing a shelvng unit, it too "deep" for our little liv rm.. he came home with the wood for shelving on the walls today.. there's hope! he's "resting" from his trip to Hime Depot, but later.. i hope!!!

went to the consignment shop yesterday, and controlled myself.. dropped off a bag of clothes, and bought only two tops!yeah! the good part is, found another walker i love and its Bright
Red.. nothing subtle about a RED walker lol...

so, life is good, just slow going...  congrats on getting more done in the sewing room , Meece.. its a YEAR now, i keep promising to get the sewing machine out, and make some foobs.. the goal is, to have a pocket, and foobs, for every cami. then, just take them out, when i need to wash the shirt, then back in, they go.. nice in theory, but can't motivate myself to sew. feeling insecure with my abilities with the neuropathy.. like most things, once i start, its ok.. but getting started   AAAARRGH   3jays
