go well for you1st, thankyou, Barbe for the profuse, and public apology. Ginger's right.. i usually get the sense of humor you have, mines' acerbic, at times, too. no problem, im over it all at this point.. but, thank you..
Isabella: we also, went to "the farm" in Maine a lot, but with a cooked ham, and all the sides. my mome knew what to do.. and Gosh if we got on the tractors and stuff, we wouldn't sit for a week!!!
we did have all the fun a farm has to offer akid, but didn't stop any of the work.. i could ride a horse, milk a cow, and even spend time with "billy" the goat noone else could get near! carrots worked with him, as well as ..

we've got just a small 16' fishing boat, but oh I do so love going out in it. I put up my feet and read my kindle while hubby fishes. He prefers that I fish, too. But I prefer lazing about. Normally I persevere.
We want to get a slightly bigger boat, as the one we have now is too small for the ocean or straight's, so we're a little more limited than we'd like. We'll see how the finances work out now that all my surgeries are done. 0 -
One day after filling the gas tanks, we were running some friends through the waves, just glorious!!!! The guy turned to my DH and said "I wonder what the poor people are doing?" My DH and I looked at each other and said "Driving their boat!" No one ever offered to pay for gas.....sigh. We had twin Lincoln 454's and they really moved that boat!!! The twin screws made it much easier to maneuver as well. One day I caught the kids sitting downstairs watching a video when there was the whole friggin' marina to play in and explore! I kind of blew up, but that was the downturn of the boat. The TV was only for movies at night all together. I had thought the kids were all off on an adventure somewhere!! I didn't have a TV from age 28 to 40 and only bought one for videos. No cable till I turned 40 and my Dad got me a cable dish thingy. I was annoyed, because then we had to go out and get a bigger TV!! My Mom got me a sewing machine and I opened my quilt store within 6 months!

I remember when cable first came out - I couldn't understand why on earth anyone would pay good money to watch television when there were so many other things they could be doing. When the kids were young I had a rule. No TV Monday through Thursday. When they were done with homework they could play games, visit friends, read a book, or, of course, do chores... but no TV.

Good morning friends,
I got good news about the echo. My heart is good. Still no clue why my lungs are so damaged. And the darn pulmonary doc is still on vacation. So I have to just stick to what I'm doing along with the new bp med until I can see him again. Pain in the neck! I don't know who I am anymore. I had a hard day yesterday, but have a MH appt today.
I have had to let go of so much this year. No boat in the water for the first time in many, many, many years. Had to turn over maintance of yard and pool to professionals.
I've been blessed to live in a rural area. There were lots of kids my kids ages living in the neighborhood so they were outside a lot. Riding bikes and playing "man hunt". When I was a kid we played "kick the can". My DS and his best friend used to dress up in cammo and really take the game seriously. My DD and her friends not so much, would make them mad. It's funny, b/c they both joined the military when they were old enough. I would not buy toy guns, but they would make them out of sticks and wood. DS went into the Marines and his friend, the Navy. Now they are both going to the same college with the GI Bill money. smart kids no student loans.

Great news about your echo Nancy! Now if you can just get the pulmo doctor back in town and on the ball--. Goodness, I hadn't thought about kick the can for years! When I was a child we all got to "play out at night" during the summer and this game was a favorite. Don't think either of my children ever played it, though.
Gumby, I so agree. We do owe them, very much. I too am glad they came through it unharmed.

Thanks everyone for the gratitude for the boy's service. They both did tours in Iraq which they don't talk about much. Neither one of them has any interest in going to a fireworks display, tho. I, too, am very thankful that they are healthy.
My kids are so different. When the war was starting in Iraq, my DD was in a picture on the front page of the local paper protesting. 3 pages in was an article about how my DS was one of only three boys on a debate team arguing the reason for going to war. It meant many a heated discussion around the dinner table.
I feel better today. I saw my therapist this morning and this is what she said. "I have a degree in crazy, so I know crazy and you are not it."

Yep, my therapist is a keeper.
Today I took my car to a youth car wash fund raiser at my church. They were so sweet, fed me lunch, washed the outside of the car, washed the inside of windows (got all those doggy nose prints off), took the mat out of the back and washed all the mud from the dog off and gave me lots of hugs.
I hope everyone is just real busy enjoying life.

Hi all. Hope you are having a lovely weekend. DH and I are in Rotorua, the thermal region of the country for a couple of nights away as we are celebrating out v40th Wedding anniversary today.We are about to go for a dip in one of the hot pools. (this is despite the LE hope it helps my joints.) You can just sit in them not actually swim. Just had alook and have some good photos taken on our walk around one of the thermal fields at Waiotapu, it is as if you are on another planet all together.

barbe, you are right! I am challenged in more areas than one. I was surprised (read pissed off) when they made me take an english class in art school.

Chrissy, I would PM this if I could figure out how. Do women in Australia wear pants as much as they do in America? Or do they wear dresses a lot? DH and I are dreaming of a trip to Australia. No real plans at his point. Seattle is SO casual that I rarely wear skirts.

Wren, if you get to Australia you must come here as well, we are just a couple of hours by plane away. About pants, we (in both countries) wear them all the time just as they do in most parts of the world. Certainly for travelling they are great though on a couple of occassions on our last trip it was so hot I wore a lovely cotton skirt I had and that was in Pennsylvania. When I was teaching I wore skirts more often but not so often now and really enjoy getting dreesed up for some events.
Must get moving as I have to take my sister up to the doctors as she an ulcer on her leg. Thought it had cleared with antibs but now its nasty.

Hi all,
Surgery is next Wednesday (Sept 5) so I am now officially nervous. I got a call today that I need to come in Sunday morning and go to pre-op. I already did pre-op in May (which the secretary who called knew) so I really don't know why they want me then. I sure hope it's not for the markings. How in the world would they stay on for 3 days? There's no way I'm not showering - it's HOTHOTHOTHOT here. Just as long as I don't show up and they say, Oh, sorry, you didn't need to come.
The day I'm REALLY looking forward to is Sept 6.

Afternoon all.
My news is that I have booked for Australia, going to South Australia where Chrissy is. Talked to her this afternoon even know when we are going to visit her, yeh!!! We go to Melbourne on the 13th Oct then Adelaide on the 16th. Now just have to sort out what we are doing, I am so excited. I am so pleased we have something definite sorted at last.
Leah will be saying a prayer that all goes well with you.
Elisimo wondered where you got too as well.
Has turned cold tonight, looks like a frost but that means we will have a lovely day tomorrow.

hi all.. checkin to letcha know, im stil here.. Isaac was kinda a no show, but it was a "wind and water event " as the weathermen say.. we didn't get flooded, nor lose electric, but some in my town just got their electric back today, so im real grateful.. we lost internet for 12 hours, but i have plenty on the dvr, and we had electric!!
we once again, moved the whole gazebo garden, but have an idea on how to board it over next time, so we will only take the important flowers in. marybe told me to pretend i was in Butterfly World, when i went in my kitchen. we had 3 poles full in our kitchen, with three shelf units in the hallway full!! enough, already.

3jays it's always good to hear from you. So glad that storm was an almost non event for you. I can imagine all your plants in the kitchen and walkway.....almost like a jungle....lol.
