Dear dh is the most thoughtful of men. Today he got me just what I always wanted. A new screw gun. We are flipping a house and while I was perfectly happy with a regular screw driver, he decided I really needed a small screw gun. We just had to run to Home Depot to get it. Now mind you, any running we do from my house is a major drive, 20 miles 1 way. I had already explained to him that with the neuropathy in my fingers I really have a hard time with tools like that anyway, but he insisted that it would help my fingers to run this screw gun. So after a two hour trip and thiry dollars for a screw gun I wont be able to use, he is really happy!

Mary, his heart is in the right place even if his head isn't. And now he has a new toy.

Herons remind me of watchmen or sheriffs - no nonsense in my town.
My DH loves his tools, and he's good with them so I always thought of his shop as our precious metals. This weekend it's the washing machine, which leaked for the first time. It took all day to find the source of the leak, but then he went to the computer and found a youtube video by a pro, explaining the entire process of repair of this part, on my exact machine. Sometimes the internet is outstandingly helpful. Part is ordered but he restrained himself from getting the $40 special wrench. What a guy.
Drinks: I've learned to love a Belgian beer - Framboise Lambic - in small quantities. It's like a rich raspberry fizzy punch.
Chrissy, I hope you get some cool weather. We are in record-breaking cold spell. It was 24 (-3?) here every morning for nearly a week. We may start getting into the 30s this week.
Stay well, everyone.

LC, we are a bit warmer than you, it has been 28 here. But we are right on the coast and the wind chill coming in from the ocean has been nasty.

I don't envy the cold weather some of you are having--the past couple of days here in NC have been abnormally warm, in the high 60s and even into the 70s yesterday!

Hi ladies.. this is the 1st i've had to get back. the tile was more thsan a wonderful gift, but it put us WAY back in moving so we're STILL at it!!
tommorrow promises to be the next to last day, or maybe, God please.. the last one. I've cleaned all but one rug, and just have to keep pushing to finish. they're showing the house, and im showing all they did last year, I swear, i need to get a commision..
I confess, i'm even nicer to the people i like, they could be my neighbors.. haha
The mohs has gone south, and they're fighting the ins for daily wound care. been to the ER for debridment 2xs, with their dragging their feet.. if i told them all i was doing, they'd shoot me.
Ive been pretty down, but then, remind myself that having this house, and all in it is SUCH a blessing to us, how can you be down?? grr
Isabella: I discovered pink gin when i was in my 20's.. wonderful stuff. If your EX hubs is going to be around, you need to stock it in the house..
I agree, he needeed the stiff talking to, NOT carla!!!and to complain, whilst riding in your feilds! Carla had every right to gaurd your property!! burns me good..
My poor little blind girl is having a time: this villa is the Opposite of the last, and she hasn't gotten the lay of the land yet. keeps banging her nose. certainly has slowed her down, though.
I've missed you all, and am so relieved for Aj and her family...take care of yourselves, everyone!3jays

Well, after all the hype and warnings and weather men standing out in the pouring rain warning us that this was a big winter storm bearing down on us, it actually snowed about 15 minutes last night. If I hadnt stayed up late I never would have seen a flake. What a joke.

Mary sometimes I don't think the weather men (and women) don't actually know what is going to happen. It seems to be all guess work and supposition sometimes. Any way, glad it was no biggy!

We are having mad snowstorms @ the moment...roads are pretty well impassable. But it can snow for a week for me, I don't want to go out anywhere in this lot !
I have a stock of food in, a great big pile of logs chopped, a pile of sewing , and 3 new books just arrived from Amazon yesterday. My Gson has said he will stay a few days...he can't get to work, so I can do with his help for the next few days....he was out tonight in the 4WD playing around in the snow. My peace will be shattered as I am getting the radio on full blast most of the day, and weird TV shows all evening. A small price to pay for his company. If he carries on going out 'to play' for a couple of hours now and then I can get some quiet ! I am used to him here an hour or so most evenings, so 24/7 is HARD work for me, I like being alone.
My 4 yr old Gdaughter went for a routine checkup at the doctors last week, and a heart murmur was detected, so of course we are all worrying what the problem is now. She has been sending me pictures today of her out sledging on the new BMW sledge I bought her for Christmas, heart murmur or not she's having a good old time ! But, what would life be without these little hiccups !! As a family we are not too good on hearts.
Isabella.

Just thought I would throw this out here. Is it me or are the weather people making every storm "the storm of the century" to the point that people are beginning to not take heed to the severity of the "real" storms that do damage? Here in DC, channel 4 seems to start every news segment with "breaking news." In the past, these stories were just another story during the news cast. I feel the media is desensitizing people.

The TV weather people here get so excited at the first snowflake that it's ridiculous. We like to turn off the sound and watch the pictures of 6-7 reporters showing each snowflake. Of course, if we do get a big snow, it paralyzes the city. Seattle has steep hills and about 2 snowplows, plus buses that bend in the middle. The buses jackknife and block the streets.

Isabella, I hope the heart murmur is something that will possibly correct itself as time goes by. I know when I was a child my mother was told I had one, but no evidence of it now. (Of course, that was a long time ago!)
Here in NC the forecasters are positively rabid about the chance of one flake of snow. Grocery shelves soon become bare of bread and milk and sandwich meats, etc. Why Southerners feel we must exist on sandwiches when it snows is beyond me, but it may be because we often have power outages during snow storms. We're also prone to trying to drive on snow-covered roads but nobody has any idea how to do it. Fortunately, it's been several years since we had a severe snowfall around here.
I saw the onco. today and have been set free for another 4 months. The bone density results were good (no further change) so he does not advise any medication except the calcium and vitamin D. So, I'm happy with that! He mentioned that he and my surgeon want to start a bc survivor's group and I'd definitely be interested in being part of that.
Hope all of us have a great weekend!
Kathy

Great news on the DEXA Kathy! It's good to know that your bones are still strong enough with just the Vit D and calcium supplements.
If we got snow here ( and that did happen a hundred years ago......lol) I think we'd have news cameras from around the country videoing it!.........lol. Don't worry girls, the weather forecasters here are really no better..........it just seems that sensationalism is alive and well and living in the media.
Have a great day all!

I often watch the news and weather reports here to see what outrageous new adjectives they can come up with to report weather that is 'the same old, same old' as far as I can remember.
I have heard our normal, for this time of year, 'king' tides, described as 'massive,' higher temps as the hottest that have ever been experienced here since time
began.
I feel that we are being brainwashed by propaganda that hasn't seen the like since communism was dismantled. The fact that the reporters are 20 somethings who
haven't lived long on this planet or done much research, speaks for itself.
Boy........do I go off my brain when I hear more of this language and I realise that youngsters are hearing/watching this and being scared by it.
Gotta go watch the weather report for my next 'pressure release' sessions.
Sheila.
