Ah yes, well now that our "big" snow storm is over, (we actually had reporters standing in the middle of these clear roads) we are now in danger of dangerously frigid temps. at night. Well yeah, it should be cold, it is the middle of Jan...Please!!!

I'm with you, Mary. I don't want temperatures in January to be 70+ degrees like they were last weekend!

Oh Kathy thank you! The book arrived in today's mail and I am so excited I have begun to read it immediately! I will be forever grateful for the copy. I love history and American history has always fascinated me. As most people in English speaking countries I had heard stories of the legend of your famous relative so I'm looking forward to some facts.
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Haven't you ladies ever heard that "little boys that tell lies grow up to be weathermen" That is what my daddy used to always say. It was better to check The Farmer's Almanac!

I am down in Nelson which is my home town, where we celebrated my brither and sister in law's 50th wedding. I was a junior bridesmaid -too old for flower girl and too young for bridesmaid. It was fun catching up with people I haven't seen in years including someone I baby sat when I was 16.
Have had a couple of unsuccessful shopping expeditions. I am looking for a dress fo DS's wedding but so far nothing. Nelson has lots of dress shops but can't find what I want. Never mind will keep looking.
We are off over to Golden Bay today so hope it stays fine. It is beautiful over there with stunning beaches. We are going off by ourselves because it is quite tense here at times. My DB and SiL have very strong religious views and thinks that anyone else is wrong.
Just hope I can get around easily as I am having so much bone type pain which I will check out when I see the doc in a couple of weeks.
Big hugs to you all

Alyson - I feel for you with the shopping. My son was married last June and it seemed a good idea to wear something appropriate but I am so not a shopper, hate looking at myself in mirrors and have no idea about clothes. (I really should have appreciated my body when I was young!) A friend who knows about clothes came with me, selected something I never would have tried on under my own steam and sent me off well dressed and feeling comfortable with the selection. I hope you have such a person in your world.
Here's hoping the dr can deal with your bone pain.

Alyson - hope you can find a dress you like soon. And that you doc can figure out something to help with your pain issues. AJ

After not posting for a while it has been so nice to read a week or more worth of posts all at one time.
Isabella how could these people possible have the bullocks to complain to you about your dog in YOUR fields! Seriously screwed up.
Not to worry all I learned about bullocks because a young woman I know is a documentary producer and is located in England of late. She had a friend make up a poster as an incentive for donors to the project and I received one last week. It said something like, "Nevermind the bullocks." I am still unsure of the exact meaning but may put it up on the bathroom wall just to see the reaction I get. lol
Our weather here is also announced like the first, most, biggest, most dangerous ever! Our summer is very brief, some say one week long, so that also receives huge broadcast covereage. I am sorry to hear of the heatwave down under and any damage it is doing. I suppose I always think the real weather news is dramatic enough without any need to embelish it.
I am sorry to hear of any pain being difficult to manage.
It seems the AJ's granddaughter is coming along better recently. I will continue to keep her in prayer for full recovery as well as Isabellas little Granddaughter.
I also extend my sincere condolences to Leah on the passing of her dear Mother.
I was gone for three days to a Serger conference about 75 miles north of here. I stayed two nights in a Holiday Inn express and it was really nice. I felt bad for the housekeeper though. The first night I clogged up the toilet. red faced here... then the next night I must have pushed my pillow over and knocked an almost full cup of DR Pepper off onto the floor.
Anyways, the serger class was super good, the teacher was Sue Green Baker and she was simply the best instructor for this sort of class that I have ever had. She travels the country for various machine manufacturer so look for her in your area if you are tired of less than great instructors taking your money but probably more importantly your time. I actually bought a new Baby Lock serger due to this event. I have always been a Viking girl before now. This serger actually threads the loopers with a blast of air and hallelujah it works! I shouted out in joy when it put on its little show and blasted the thread right through the loopers.
I have gone on enough to make up for whatever time I was away haven't I.
Hugs every one

Ginge, a bullock is a castrated bull. Kept for meat.

Gorgeous flower, Lisa. It's especially cheerful because today we have a windchill factor of
-26F or -32C. Very cold in either language.

Had to kind of laugh at myself, after all this complaining Ive been doing about weathermen over-reacting, woke up this morning with my pipes frozen!

Oh my goodness! How cold is your weather at the moment!!!!! I can't imagine it at all......our weather has cooled to between 28 and 33 degrees Celsius. As far as I'm concerned I can cope with this and my lymphadema doesn't react too badly.
The long range forecasters here announced the other day that the rest of our summer would be below normal temperatures with no rain in sight. I'm still not sure how they come to these conclusions and I guess only time will tell if their forecasting is correct.
Hope you girls all survive the cold....no,.....freezing weather without getting frost bite!!!!!!!..........BRRRRRRRRRR!
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Frozen pipes are terrible things. Many years ago our pipes froze on the day we were to have DH's entire family (about 30 people) at our house for their Christmas gathering. We had a well at the time and DH was frantically trying to thaw the pipes out with a blowtorch. It worked, and we had bathrooms!
Now we have a forecast for sleet beginning Friday afternoon, so we shall see. I'm envying you your summer, Chrissy!
Lisa, what a beautiful rose! Thanks for sharing that.

Our thermometer read 18 degrees this morning. We are on a well too, but had our pipes changed over this summer and some of them are closer to the outside walls. We'll just have to insulate them some I guess. Fortunately they didnt stay frozen for too long and we'll know now to keep them dripping tonight.Gotta get ready for our next big weather-maker Friday.

We had snow then sleet and freezing rain that started around 10:30 this morning. DH stayed home and built a fire in the fireplace, where I have stayed all day! Daisy the dog did not want to go outside at first then we could not keep her in for long. She has run in and out all day. She would come in long enough to get warm then run back outside until she was almost frozen. She is such a silly dog. It was nice to have DH home today as he takes such good care of me, especially when I am not feeling well.
Hope everyone is staying warm and dry and not having to get our in bad weather. For those down under hope you are having a mild summer and that rain comes to renew the ground and plants. AJ

We didnt have any snow here, just ice which is no fun to get out in. lots of 4-wheelers out tooling around though. As usual bread and milk flew off the shelves. Ive always wondered about that, why just bread and milk?

We had ice also, according to the weather reports only .11 inch but certainly enough to cause havoc on the roads. Nobody can (or should) drive on ice!

Feeling quite a bit lonely tonight...NOT like me at all ( the queen of loving my own company)
G/son went home yesterday, after 5 days. I think he was going stir crazy blocked in with me ! He was an enormous help, but he is a young man, and has young man things to do !!! The snow was particularly bad on Wednesday and Thursday night, about 12 " fell, and on the second night it drifted badly.
DD hasn't made it here for 3 weeks.... am not getting any answer when I call her...so left her a message on FB asking if all were OK and managing to get out and about in this awful weather. ( no reply ) We WERE supposed to be going to the theatre 10 days ago, to a pantomime with assorted small family members ! I wasn't sure of the date, and was waiting for DD to get the tickets, let me know the exact date, and make arrangements to pick up the little ones between us, when I saw she'd BEEN, (on FB) all done and dusted.. I don't know quite what to say to her when I see her, feeling a bit sidelined on this one at the moment ! I was really looking forwards to this trip. She'd better have a very good excuse !
No1 G/son is away ski-ing, he goes each year. No2 G/son has been here with me this week. No3 G/son I very rarely see, he always has other fish to fry! G/ma's don't come very high on his visiting list! No1 GD is busy working. No 2 GD is very busy doing important exams this week....and of the 2 GD's in law one is working like mad, she is a social worker, and has a very heavy caseload, and the other takes her driving test this next week so is spending hours and hours on the roads ( which is quite a problem with all the snow ) The little 4 yr old GD I just miss so much, she hasn't been here for 3 weeks, and I am getting severe withdrawal symptoms from her chatter !
There is just no pleasing me !!! I complain when I have visitors each day stopping me when I am trying to work...and I complain even louder if I don't see any of them. Turning into a real grumpy old woman !
I think I might be able to get my car out by either Monday or Tuesday, it is now howling with wind and rain, so will thaw quite quickly, I hope. About 5" has gone since this afternoon. My driveway is totaly impassable to me with anymore than an inch of snow on the ground, my car just does not like snow....so will feel a bit easer when I am free to come and go again. G/son has been telling me I should consider moving nearer civilisation, but, NOT yet ! Don't think civilisation would relish me and my animals in their midst !
Isabella.

Oh Isabella there is nothing worse than feeling lonely. Being alone and feeling lonely are two very different things.........it is possible to be lonely even in a crowd. I sure hope the snow melts quickly so you don't feel trapped........I think maybe that is causing you to feel the way you do..........I know I feel that way when my DH takes my car instead of his van as it is my 'way out'. I know you know what I mean.
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Sending warm thoughts to you and your family.

Isabella, I hope things are better today and you've been able to get out a bit. Feeling lonely and somewhat abandoned is a very bad feeling indeed, and to have it made worse by being snowbound must be dreadful. Hope you've had some contact with someone by now. Well, anybody but DH... we all know disaster usually ensues with HIS contact!
We're tired tonight. DD and DSIL closed on their house last Thursday and are moving in next weekend, so both sets of parents went over today and helped them clean. DH blew leaves in the yard and we two mothers cleaned the inside, disinfected everything, etc. Now, I'm taking it easy.

I'm wondering the same thing, Isabella. Not much has been happening around my house so I haven't posted in a couple of days, but surely something's been going on somewhere!

I post here occasionally but am more of a lurker on this thread. I would like to ask for everybody to say a special prayer for my daughter, I posted it on the stage 4 forum yesterday, anyway, she has found a lump in her breast and is only 23. Shes my wonderful only daughter, and is terrified, (as I am), but trying really hard to be brave. We all know how that goes...the only good thing about having bc is having good connections and my nurse-navigator is working to get her in for a mammogram asap. Its just tooo close for comfort though..

Wow Mary I know how scary that is! I've been through this with both my DD's so know just how worrying it truly is. Thankfully for me they were both benign but thankfully also, the doc that they were with is the same one that treats me so removed their lumps and sent the whole thing for path each time. Prayers that your DD gets the same result.
Not much happening in my world at the moment as the weather is neither too hot nor too cold........actually it's perfect!.......lol........not too often we can say that about the weather.......lol. Well, I slept through my appointment for hydro today.....grrrrr!......I had such a bad night that I eventually took a sleeping pill and set the alarm so I would wake in time for the hydro .........nope, didn't happen!.......I slept through the jolly alarm and woke half way through what was the appointed time. Seeing as how I have a half hour drive to get there I really didn't think rushing for five minutes in the water was worth it. Never mind, there is always next week.......no biggy.
Isabella have you been able to get out into the world yet? Sure hope so.
Hoping everyone is well and just busy.
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Mary, I'll certainly be praying for your daughter and so hope it's nothing. So glad she's got connections for a mammogram ASAP. Please let us know how it goes.
Glad you're having the good weather now, Chrissy. Here it's utterly strange, from an ice storm last Friday to a beautiful 70 degrees today. I was even tempted to turn on the A/C in the car today, but resisted.

Mary, Will pray for your daugter. I had surgical biopsies on both breasts at age twenty-one. Benign cysts both of them. No cancer until age of 65. Hope everything will be okay.
