Morning all, at least the sun is shining and I might get some things done today. My poor bones and joints haven't enjoyed returning to cold damp weather.
The main bathroom is operational with some small things to be finished off. Well the bath isn't plumbed in but that will happen on Monday. Will take pictures when that happens.
Chrissy, I must confirm the dates when you will be here and I have yet to find the bedroom - no just joking it means some things I have been hoarding will get thrown out. And by then the bathroom mirror etc will have moved.
I hope everyone is having a good day.
Big hugs
Alyson

Hi all can you add my friend Rachel to our prayers and thoughts. She had first chemo yesterday. Was diagnosed two weeks ago and it was decided not to do Mx because tumour was growing so rapidly. 6cm x 8cm last week with breast very swollen and red. They will decide after 4 Tx whats happening. Think she is really shocked because she is so fit anjd healthy.
Trying to sort out the bathroom and put things away. Its a great feeling.
Sending everyone big hugs.

Alyson, will add Rachael to my thoughts and prayers--that must be the scariest shock you could have. Prayers for Sonja as well. LynMichel, please check in as soon as you feel like it after the surgery.
To all, just a note--have found out some of my back issues are trunk lymphedema. It's very minor but guess there's not enough muscle to hold up fluid build up. I now have one of those "look thinner" camisole things and the difference is amazing.
I'm seeing a chiro/osteopath guy who politely informed me that I wasn't 20 years old anymore and when you "get old" you have to exercise every day. He has helped though with muscle spasm and what all.
We have summer back for a few days here in Portland so I'm going to find some sun. It's all too short but we make the most of it when it's here!
Love to all,
Dragon

Barbe, re: camisole. I got a maidenform one that was featured on the step-up speak out website. There are two kinds of camisoles that I've found--one that is sort of a tank thing and one that's got thin adjustable straps. I didn't want those thin straps digging into my shoulders and am so glad I didn't get that one. I also have a spanx body suit but their stuff is pretty expensive so can't afford much of it. I think Bali makes one as well. Good luck! After I put it on I got some relief right away, I guess because it keeps fluid from building up.
Lisa, this picture of the pink clouds is just your best so far. I could look at that all day!

Hello ladies!
Well, I finished week 2 back to work and it is taking a toll on me. I am so exhausted when I get home. And so busy with the girls being back at school. Oldest daughter gets her own homework done and it is a good thing because I realize that I have forgotten a lot. I used to be really good at Algebra, geometry and trig when I was in school, but looking at her homework, it looks like Greek! DD # 2 is not as self motivated and I have to go thru her stuff to make sure she does everything. She also struggles with math and at least for now, I can still do 6th grade math and I am able to help her. She is really enjoying middle school. She is taking orchestra and is learning to play the violin. We are renting her violin for $20 and month and they will appy $15 each month towards the purchase. What is nice is that as she grows, we will be able to upgrade to a larger violin and apply all the payment towards that violin. It is a pretty nice program.
I did get the right drain removed on Monday, but the left drain is still in. It was down to 35 cc for 2 days, but it is back up to over 60 cc yesterday and today. If it isn't out by the end of next week, my exchange surgery will be delayed, which is ok, because I now think January will work out better financially for me. I have now had that stinking drain in for 9 weeks! There is now "leakage" from the drain hole in my side and I have to dress it with gauze twice a day to keep it from getting on my clothes. It is also extremely tender and sometimes, when I bump it or something, the pain can be excrutiating. But listening to what some of you have gone thru, I feel like I am being a big baby!
Chrissy: Sounds like your trip is going great. Sounds like the trip of a lifetime!
Dragon: I just love it when my very young and fit Dr tells me my aches and pains are because I am aging and overweight --- like I didn't know that!
Alyson: Prayers for Rachel and Sonja.
Isabella: Hope all goes well with your back surgery. Will keep you in my prayers. Do you have it scheduled yet?
3jays: You and Chrissy have fun with your visit! It will go by all to quickly.
Gotta go!

Phyllis, I vividly remember that pain of bumping the drain site!!!! It is excruiating!! And when you realize how far in that drain goes....you may have problems with sore ribs after it is out. That's what happened to me. I was sure it was mets and the area gave me grief for a long time. I pray that doesn't happen to you, but consider it a heads-up for the pain afterwards as well.
Thanks Lynda, I'll look for that kind of a cami now that the weather is getting cooler. I can imagine it would feel great! I'm the kind of person who never needs a winter coat though, as I feel hot all year. It's always interesting....

Momoftwo and everyone else struggling with helping their chldren do homework...
There is a great site called KahnAcademy.com that offers every different kind of classroom instruction in a very easy to understand style. It's affiliated with Bill Gates but not an Apple site. It is free. The "teacher" presents as if he is standing in front of a class at a chalkboard. Great for brushing up so you can help your child or the older student can use it as a tutor.
Good luck.

Hi Ladies! It's great to be back on line after taking 10 days to go on a lovely cruise through Canada and New England. It turned out to be quite interesting. Leaving Halifax on the way to Sydney, we encountered hurricane force winds for almost 12 hours before the captain in his infinite wisdom decided to turn the ship around and get out of the mess! I think at one point it was reported that we were having 27 ft. seas. I was most proud that I didn't get sick (thanks to my little patch that I always wear behind my ear) and that I was only scared once when the ship rolled on the port side and we were looking directly down into the water from our balcony cabin! What's a vacation without some adventure! All that said, the ship was beautiful, food was great, entertainment was awesome, and we met lots of great people. Returning home, we missed our connecting flight in Philly due to customs delays when we were sent to "secondary screening" by the customs officer who apparently didn't lke the fact that my partner had shaved his beard and didn't look the same as his photo on his passport! So much for profiling. Even that turned out ok when we got a better flight that got us home two hours earlier. Unfortunately our luggage didn't get the memo and is still missing in action, but at least it was on the return trip!
My appointment with the breast specialist in Florida is all set for October after we return from North Carolina, and while I'm concerned, I'm trying not to obsess about it. I still have a company reunion to attend and enjoy before I face that challenge.

The pain in the muscle area is still there for me but the drains are finally out. It is an extremely sensitive area even now, but I think it's because they are in such strange areas of insert. Two holes through the side of your body. The longer their in the sorer and more sensitive they get. Using an ointment around the skin helped me a lot until they were out. The skin still feels like it's bad bruised though it's not. Lot's of nerves alive and well in the area with the wound constantly being irritated with the tubes is probably a part of it.
Momo I'm hoping it's out for you soon. Geez I wonder how many of us would take a trip like this if they'd have told us about all the Bumps and Potholes. LOL
