INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Susan3: the 'normal spaghetti' pot's always on for you, and we might even be talked into be making coffee for you. Ping me when you want company, and keep in mind that DH and I are within spitting distance of downtown Chicago.
Sensi: I'm cool with belated birthday wishes, given that I tend to spread my OWN birthday out over a several-days period. Why limit yourself to just the one day?

MamaRay- wishing you a quick release from the hospital and a speedy recovery. I love doing yard work.
Patty dear- so sorry you have been sick. Sounds like you are doing better now. Did the funeral go okay for your DH's loved one?
Queenie- congrats on going back to college! I have known several sisters here who have gone on to finish degrees or started new adventures. We wish you the very best!
Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Queenie, Good luck with school. I returned and got a master degree when I was 54 (the same age my great grandmother graduated from high school). Grandma was the oldest and my mother was the youngest.

Sensi - Congrats & good luck on your first day back in the real world. I sure hope it doesn't totally wear you out.
Well, here he is, my new little guy at 4 weeks of age. Only 34 more days until I get to bring him home. He does look a bit like a "Kirby", doesn't he?
Patti - I hope you're feeling better today and will be able to get some restful sleep tonight.
Queenie - I agree with you on the spreading your birthday out to a birthday week, etc. After all it only comes once a year.
Susan - Is that owl really a cake? If so, who ever made it sure is skilled in cake decorating.
Shep - You've been rather quiet. I hope you're doing okay.
Feline - That little mouse winking back at us sure is cute.
Well I'll say goodnight for now. Sleep well everyone!

Patty so sorry you have had another horrible tough stretch I am so hoping you are feeling better.

Thanks all, for the 'good luck' wishes; for me this is by way of doubling back to do classwork after my life changed direction. I'm finding that basic business precepts (how to write a marketing or business plan, how to draw up a contract, how to manage employees) would serve me well in the future....so business classes it is.
And a hootie hoo back at Patty and whomever else finds themselves awake in the darkest hours of the night.

Queen- I am a self employed consultant and all those things you will take will help you. I took a lot of business classes when I opened my first business in the 1990s, they helped even more with my next consulting adventure I started in 2007 (almost 10 years now!) Those classes will always serve you well in any business, including your own if you go down that path.
Good luck sister. We are rooting for you!

Jazzy: how right you are. It's all business, even non-profits! (learned that the hard way as a librarian, about as non-profit as it's possible to get. I knew how to be a librarian, but not how to run a library, how to supervise people and so on.)

I don't think our chances of seeing the super moon are very good here (rain predicted), so please take photos where you are and post them.
Wishing everyone a peaceful, pain free day.

love the puppy. How adorable
Had another horrible night. Lots of tummy issues both ways. Feeling a lil better today. Trim to stay hydrated. Really really don't want another hospital stay. Have an appt with Mo Friday. Hoping he prefers scans. Hoping Mo new progression. Ahh. The emotional rollercoaster

Well, owlettes, if you look at my signature you'll see something new. Had a PET scan Friday and saw the oncologist today. I have mets to the spine, cervical and lumbar. I will start halaven on Thursday. Dh and my cousin are pretty broken up but I was not surprised. Either that or it hasn't hit me yet.
Just what the actual heck. I don't know if I'm going to be able to have my dental work done with getting chemo and being immune suppressed.
Well maybe it will hit me later. Right now just numb

Well I didn't get anymore work done on my paper today. Will do some tomorrow and hopefully I will be into the third page or close to it.

Magdalene: I'll be joining your cousin and DH, if that't permissible? (bummed doesn't even begin to cover this)

Mags- so sorry to hear this news. I would be numb too. Hugs sister.

Mags. So sorry. The good news ( if there is any ) is bones is better then organs.

Mags, I'm so sorry to hear. Another kick in the ass...does it ever stop?

Peeking in.....eyes half closed. Made it thru my first day back. Was good to be back, though my body did not like being up at 5. I will adjust. Went back with my mostly bald head and didn't have any negative reaction, which makes me happy, because the couple of "hot flashes" I had, made me thankful I had chosen not to wear anything on my head. Took Chance into vet for routine shots and then to the dog park. He was quite happy to have me home. I think he missed me being gone all day. He got a trip to the dog park and I made myself some beef stir fry. Heading to bed soon.
Jazzy-"Kirby" is adorable. So happy for you.
Waving to everyone else. Have a good night.

Mags, So sorry to hear this. Sometimes they can zap bones with radiation and it won't suppress your immune system. Hugs.

Mags- so sorry. Sending you much love and healing thoughts. I hope you find the right combo to keep you going for years.

Mags so sorry to hear of additional mets. Maybe a bit numb is a good thing, a defence or protection mechanism that is in you, to keep you sane while you organise your treatment and find out about your dental etc.
You can let the feelings, whatever they are, come in slowly as and when you are ready. Remember you are not the mets, and you are not your feelings either, feelings come and go. Good days and bad. You are more than either of those.

i tell you what, my friends, post-surgery insomnia is worse than the regular mess, in my opinion!
You're stuck between talking more meds and sleeping till 4pm, or just not getting any of your much needed rest.
Either way, being up and restless at 6am stinks. Especially when you can't get up and do physical work to wear yourself out!
Anyhow, just wanted to pop in and say hi and pass hugs around.
Anyone know if Sas is still ok?
I've been enjoying everyone s baby and pet photos, along with all the funnies.
Lurking around every once and a while when i can.
I think of you all regularly and hope everyone is ready to start getting ready for the holidays.
I think decorating this week will help cheer me up. Might as well do it now with some help from friends while im on med leave, right? That way i can enjoy it longer
Peace,love, &light to you all

Getting rain today

Feline, Thanks for the pics. It was raining here. It was raining so hard at 2:30am, it woke me up.

Mags: Is there any way you could do your dental work first and get it out of the way? Since you have bone mets now (boo!!!), they may want to put you on Zometa or Xgeva, and you'll want to have any major work done b4 you start that or chemo. So sad for you.

jwoo. Waving hi. Glad to see you.
Mags. Thinking of you today
Pretty quiet day here today. Hoping that means y'all are to busy enjoying life. Yea.
I had another horrible day. Darn tummy both ends. Dh and dss trying to push for hospital but I don't want to. I don't feel to dehydrated so we push on.
Hootie hoo.
