MamaJ, why did they challenge you with Cipro again knowing that it affected your tendon with the last course? Can you take Bactrim or are you allergic to it? They usually give me Bactrim or Keflex which I can't take anymore because of the tinnitus. Are you icing the shoulder? If only it's summer..,, Maybe you can ice it while you get the hot flashes. Ha! Tendonitis takes forever to heal. I have read that high dose of vitamin C and glutathione ( I think Shep mentioned it one time). Also, glucosamine chondroitin along with CoQ10, & magnesium might help speed up the healing.
Regarding car insurance, I don't mind helping mom out. She is on a very small fixed income from social security. She did raise me and it's the least I can do.
Thanks,Jazzy. Didn't think about doing shorter yoga, but you know once you get into the yoga pants you just want to..,,,

Chevy- no you wrote about good stuff. There are a lot of new clinical roles in healthcare to help people and more coming. Population Health is a big initiative around improved patient outcomes, and patient satisfaction is a much bigger deal than it used to be. When I tell people I work in healthcare, they always think I am a clinician. I work on the money side of IT stuff. But I also do enterprise projects that involved clinicians. My recent project was all about that actually.
You want to get a doctor to pay attention to you? I use something like "I am looking for a better outcome from all this". Outcome is a powerful term these days!

Jazzy, my son works for Nuance, the company that absorbed Dictaphone, and what he does is go with the sales force to their presentations and determines what features would be optimal for each facility, then helps with the set up and stuff. I think his actual title is something like Technical Liaison to Sales or some such. By the way, Nuance also makes the Dragon software - voice to text. That's how what used to be Dictaphone runs now. No more transcription.
But he does get to travel, which he loves, and explores wherever he goes, and sometimes is close enough for a quick visit. So proud of that guy

Mags- I know Nuance well. They just installed Dragon a couple weeks at my client site in December before my system change went in. The doctors love it!

Lover, isn't Keflex in the same class as Levoquin? and they both can cause tendon, muscle damage?
I've heard the damage can turn up years after use too. I'm allergic to them, but still worry as I took it several years ago.
0 -
spooks didn't know that. Levoquin is one of the few I am not allergic too. Luckily, I can't remember the last time I had to go on antibiotics. Fingers crossed
Chevy, we have the cold weather now...thanks for sharing
Ok, gotta get off this thing before it becomes possessed

Ms. Spookie, that is a good question. Keflex is in a different class of antibiotics. Cipro and Levaquin are related. Were you thinking about Avalox which is in the same class as Cipro? The two other classes of drugs that can weaken the tendon that I am aware of are Statins ( I don't think to the extend of the fluroquinolones) and steroids. It would be interesting to see how many people report tendon problems with Keflex. I read that tendon rupture can occur up to six months after taking Levaquin. Not sure about years later.
Susan, we will hit 28* tonight. Brrrrrrr

Goodevening Ladies,
Smaarty - OMG! Evie IS SO VERY PRECIOUS! I cannot believe it has been a year already. What a pretty pic of her and her B-cake.
I managed the toe stunt by parking my walker in my bedroom on Monday evening and when I got up to go to the bathroom I forgot it was there and kicked one of the wheels. The pain was like when you see stars. I iced it initially. The toe is still several shades of purplish-blue and reddish, but thankfully is doesn't hurt as much now. But of course the pain meds I take for the Fibro and Osteo help the toe too.
Can we all say in unison "KLUTZ" ;0)
Got up at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday and finally made it home by midnight. I changed my plans of staying in a hotel. I just wanted my own bed & pillows.
Susan - At this moment it is 21 degrees here and is projected to get down to 17. Yikes. The plane I was on to Spokane wasn't a big jet, it was one of those puddle jumper sized planes, so once we landed, we had to walk across a portion of the tarmac and it was 16 degrees and windy at noon. Way too cold for me. It only got up to 18 later in the day. It was 28 in Portland when we landed, but with the wind chill it felt like about zero degrees.
Kirby is afraid of unfamiliar sounds and freaks out, but then once he realizes these sounds aren't going to hurt him, he settles down. Today when I vacuumed, he barked at me a few times, and when I used my hair dryer he freaked, then on the bus he was afraid at first. He just needs to become familiar with all the new sights, sounds and smells. The noise of the plane even scared him, but when I tucked him inside my jacket, he went right to sleep. I think he is going to make an excellent Therapy Dog.
Hi Loverly - How is your Dad?
Mags - Good to see you. How are you feeling? Sounds like your DS has an exciting job. Traveling taboot. Cool! Before my Mets Dx I was going to school to try and complete my degree in Medical records, but alas, it was not meant to be apparently.
Spookie - Your baby is only 8 lbs.? How long did it take to completely get her potty trained? Kirby has had 6 accidents inside over the last 2 days, but I take him out every few hours and when I tell him "Go Potty", he goes like a little champ. 1 & 2. But then he comes in, plays, then pees. I bought pee pads today too. I know it takes time and I am glad I have a carpet shampooer.
Chevy - I had actually thought of doing exactly what you suggested. Copying the memes that Jazzy & Lover posted. I could post one in the lobby of each building or maybe give a copy to my landlord and have them post them in the next complex newsletter. Maybe both.
I also had a long conversation with my landlord today in regards to these particular neighbors. I wanted to cover my behind because these individuals are NOT above making up a story about my neglect or mistreatment of Kirby or him barking all night just to cause discord, drama and cause me harm if possible. I also put my concerns into writing and had the landlord put a copy into my rental file. As we discussed, these people could decide to come together and coordinate their stories and then en-mass file similar complaints to make them sound legit. Believe it. I have lived here over 10 years and am very familiar with their antics. And yes, they are very miserable people. It is only about 4-5 people involved, the rest of the neighbors pretty much stay to themselves and do their own thing.
Goodmorning Feline - Hope you have a good day!
And Hi to everyone else. Hope you are all sleeping well. I am headed to bed myself now. BB

Okay, I just checked FB before going to bed. Anna (the breeder) snuck a picture of me and Kirby at the Red Robin where we had lunch, so here it is. I look awful, but Kirby steals the show.

Long day ahead for me. Hubby woke up in the middle of the night sick. He came down with it from people at work who have been sick.

Susan, Good luck with chemo today.
Mags, Congrats on the mets reduction!
Shep, how are you feeling?
Sensi, I don't remember how long the chemo fog lasted, but I'm thinking it was at least a month. But, I noticed you are on Tamox and I think that can cause some fogginess, so you may has eased from one fog to another.
Jazzy, Congrats on finishing project!! I hope you have been able to breath and take time for you this week.
Smaarty, Evie is adorbs!
Chevy, Sorry to hear about your pain. Gross on the ear wax..throw it away. Period.
Loverly, I hope your Dad is feeling a little better each day. Do your parents live close to you? You have such a generous spirit. Your niece is beautiful! Yes, my joint pain is better. School started Wed and I got a call to work, but when I told them I had a weight restriction, they opted to call another sub. Yesterday got called, but I was busy.
More to say, but have to get kids up and ready for school. Hope to have more time to post again this AM.

Good morning friends- waking up to quite a surprise snow storm! Got a couple inches on the ground here, but the mountains are probably getting a whole lot more. I have some plans to do a yoga class and hit a movie later today, but today may not be a day to be out and about. We shall see!
Wildtulip- thanks for the good wishes and I am slowly getting recovered. Lots of good sleep and some daily exercise helping with that!
Susan- beautiful Evie, growing up so fast! Best wishes on your next round of chemo.
Loverly- I hope your dad is doing better
Mommy- I hope your husband is feeling better. Did you decide to stick with your college plans?
Junie- little Kirby is adorable
MammaRay- thinking of you and hope you are doing okay today?
Wishing everyone a good day. For those of you in the snowy areas of the US (bunch of storms around), be careful!

Mom2 ! OMD! Isn't it just the WORST when these Husbands get sick? It is a disaster of major proportions when this happens! So we were sitting watching TV last night, and I ask my phone "things".... Like what is Tendonitis?... And she tells me... also a whole list of what to do... Then DH says "ask her why I clear my throat all the time, why do I get this inflammation?"
So I first tell him, "Honey! That is not "inflammation"... It is post-nasal drip from your sinuses, running down into your throat".... "BUT WHAT IF I CHOKE TO DEATH?".... And I say..."not likely, because it will go down in your stomach if you swallow it".... Then he says "ASK WHY MY ARM FALLS ASLEEP WHEN I AM SLEEPING?" So my gal Cortana pipes up with the same things I am telling him....... Then.... "ASK WHY MY ONE KNEE HURTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT"....... Cortana is one busy woman! She says basically the same thing I have.... If I tell him to take 2 Aleve before he goes to bed, he thinks he might over-dose & it wouldn't work anyway.
Yes! Same guy that won't go to the Doctor, unless his leg falls off! One time I even researched "WHY DO I SNEEZE LIKE 15 TIMES IN A ROW" I finally found an answer that shut him up.... Something about drinking a lot of beer, will cause in SOME people an allergic reaction from the yeast still fermenting in the stomach! THIS IS TRUE!!!
So no more questions about sneezing... And OH! The belching question.... "ASK HER WHY I BELCH AFTER I EAT, AND SIT DOWN"... Now I have told him, "when you drink anything carbonated, including BEER, and don't move around much, it will cause gastro issues, including expelling air, from the carbonation, and it then is either a belch or a fart. So I say "Why not take a Ranitidine when you have these issues?".....
So now tell me again what it's like when Husbands "have an issue."..... If he knew how to use my phone, and talk to Cortana, I could just sit there watching Sheriff Taylor and Opie.
Then sometimes I get "WHY DO I HAVE TO GET UP MAYBE 5 TIMES A NIGHT TO GO PEE?" But I ain't gonna bother Cortana with this one......... She would think we were both out of our MINDS! And he won't go to the Doctor... But NOW, I have told him...I am making an appointment with the Doctor next month, because our Insurance says you have to have a referral to see your Cardiologist every year, and you are going to see her! Maybe I should type out all his questions, so he could ask HER instead of Cortana why all these problems!
Then SHE would look at him thinking.... "are these people serious"..... WHAT? Did Cortana get tired of their questions?
So it is 1 degree out... Whose Daughter is here? Did she freeze into a Popsicle yet? People should not get out in this weather.... they say.
Also, someone asked me a question one time, and I forgot to answer.... sorry.....
Junie! Such a darling picture! The Kirbs is perfect! Glad you got things taken care of, when it comes to your neighbors! Some old people think the world revolves around them, and they have to run the world THEIR way! People who don't like dogs or cats never had any... they are to be ignored.... we don't like them.
You COULD copy a picture like this.... and tape it on EVERY damn door in the complex.

Unfortunately Maltese are darn near impossible to fully potty train. She still uses pee pads. I go out for one last cig, she lays on the deck. I say go potty. Nothing. Come in house, she goes to her pee pad. Stinker!!! But at least she goes to the pads and not all over house. I really don't mind much, sort of like a cat and a litter box.
Tulip, I was a school baker for 7 years. Understand what you say!!!!
Morning early bird.

Morning to you too~ She is just used to it.... that's all.... No problem. 0 here now.... meaning there is no temperature....

I want to weigh in on the Levoquin...I was prescribed it in the fall and the pharmacist told me it could cause severe joint/tendon pain. As he said so, he looked at me like, you don't want to be taking this stuff. So at the first sign of increased pain I called Dr and requested diff antibiotic and now I have it listed as an allergy.
Junie, I meant to say earlier..that picture of you and Kirby is precious!!
Spookie, Cool...I would love it if I could just bake for the schools, but as a sub, I do everything from food prep to cashiering to dishes. It's the dishes I don't like, of course. I'm confused..is there something in particular that I said you understand about, or just working in the kitchens in general?
I would normally have seen my PS for a 3 week follow up to implants the week after Christmas, but he is on vacation, so I will see him next Monday. On 12/12 I started Femara and shortly after I noticed a rash that occurs when I shower. It lasts about 10 minutes and then goes away. In the fall my DD reacted like this to an antibiotic and I took her to a Dr and she had said that the temp change can bring out the rash and consider it a sensitivity to med. Anyway, I was trying to deny it and playing wait and see, so I kept taking med until a couple days ago. This will be my second day without it and in the coming days if I don't get rash then I'll let my MO know about what's been going on. This is the second AI that my body isn't tolerating. Yesterday I had my 2nd Zometa IV, so I did mention to the nurse about the rash and my experimenting being off med for a few days. With the first Zometa 6 months ago I woke with flu symptoms the next day, so I'm happy that today so far I feel good.
There were a couple ladies that posted to MammaRay earlier this week, and Jazzy this AM, so I want to share (hoping it's ok with her) that she sent me a text Tuesday night that she is going totally off grid. She said she is going to a cabin and will get in touch with me when she's ready. I did send her a text a bit ago letting her know that I'm thinking of her, but didn't expect a response. I know she has faith and would appreciate prayers. I'll let you know if I hear from her.

You guys make me think my Doctor's don't know what they are talking about! Just figures! I took one antibiotic for a UTI a few months ago...Then she called in to change the antibiotic to Cipro, because of the further testing.... to Cipro.
I had trouble THEN, but took it, until my shoulder hurt too bad....
So THIS time, it was before Christmas, and I could not get ahold of them.... I started taking what i had left....And naturally it started up again.... UTI is gone, I think, but shoulder tendinitis remains.... I didn't take anything yesterday, except 2 Aleve last night.... and used heat on my shoulder.
I know I can take the Z-pak.... and the only trouble I ever have, is an occasional UTI.... So when I DO contact them again, I'll tell them "My gals know more than any of you Docs do!" Hah!
It will get better...... no thanks to my Docs.....
What's this about MammaR?

Okay, I read her last post.... she wasn't doing very well..... hope she comes back....

Wildtulip- thanks for telling us about MammaRay. I pray her time in the cabin is helpful to all she is going through.

Tulip, understand in general. The heat, time constraints, the work. Did all of that except cashier. We had dishwasher in last school, still had to do pots by hand. Our daily average was 600. About half the school. DD is a teacher here, tells me lunch is nothing like it used to be. All comes in pre packaged. When I switched to driving bus, felt like I got out of jail.
I had the 2 ab confused. It is Cipro. Another forum I frequent, NeuroTalk, brings them up a lot. And the damage they may cause.

Jazzy, I put off college for a bit. Told hubby that I might look for part-time work after I am healed up from my upcoming surgery to remove the cysts that have grown on the scars from the mastectomy. If I can get a job, I was planning on saving some money to help pay for the cost of a class to lessen how much I would have to borrow for financial aid.
Chevy, hubby is being a total P.I.T.A. today. Think he was not as sick as he was saying he was.
0 -
Hahaha mind over matters or is it matters over mind? Ha

Praying the hours pass quick for Monday morning to come. I can't deal with his wimpyness when he is sick!!!!!

Hope all hubbies get well soon. We went through the bad folds starting just before Christmas. Elena first, then Claire and I , hubby now her hubby. Her hubby says he has never been sick.....as he is blowing his nose constantly..ha..better than complaining:)
So cold dog has heavy coat and boots on to go out.
Mamma ray and I talk often. I will ask if I can keep you guys updated. The two of us are planning a spring trip. Looking forward to that
I love meeting you guys. Wish I could meet all of you
Lover, how is your dad doing?
Junie, great pic of the two of you!! Looks like instant bonding
Off to take ornaments off tree.....sad face

Okay.... I know..... No more Cipro... I SWEAR! YOU guys know more than the whole medical profession! I didn't even ask anyone this time.... I had them, and I knew I had that bladder infection, so I just started taking them again..... I threw the last 3 away.
Mom2.... We all know.... At least most of us do. All you can do is go along with it.... It's never as bad as they think it is........... Or just tell him, "Let's just go to the Emergency, and sit and wait in the waiting room, then wait in the little Doctor room, then wait for them to come in, then wait for the order for the prescription for Aspirin, then we can come back home"........
Geez..... another shooting in Ft. Lauderdale Airport!..... So sad!
Spookie! It has warmed up to 8 degrees!

Ok, the puzzle pieces are coming together. Oh MamaJ! What are we going to do with you? Your doc has no idea Cipro gave you the tendonitis BECAUSE you did NOT tell him/her. And you didn't finish your antibiotics which was a good thing, but bad also. Aww you are just as bad as me. Threw away half the bottle of Keflex (2nd course) away once I figured it was causing the ringing in my ear. So the bugs that caused your UTI was sensitive to Cipro. Hmm I know there are more abx out there for UTI. Doc just have to make sure not to give you a relative of Cipro. And I know what I am talking about because I have my personal doctor whom I consulted with, Dr. Google. Hah!
I hope you don't have any Z-pak left at home. Oh Mama.
Mommy, just give in and give the guy some affection even if you are annoyed. Then, you can come here and rant.
