kathindc - Thanks, I know this training will be in Kirby's best interest and safety. Did you ask to be put on the cancellation list at the Rheumatologist's office? Maybe you can be seen sooner. I hope.

Oh good grief, you poor lady! That poor car of yours does seem to have an invisible target on it. So glad your insurance premiums haven't been jacked up. Do the homes in your area not generally have garages? So frustrating.

Until reading the post about someone attempting to sell stuff on these threads, I had no idea it was possible for non-members to access/read what we post here. That is so unsettling. Now I understand Loverly's comment a few months ago regarding the posts back and forth between Lita and I about our B-days. I'll make sure to use a PM in the future for that type of info.

Loverly - I'm not sure I'm going to be able to sleep without that little fuzzy-butt next to me.

Poppy - How are you & Gus doing with all the rain?

Smaarty - I keep going back and looking at the pic of the dress your holding on the right. So pretty!

Susan - Hope you're feeling better soon.

Goodmorning Feline! How are you doing? How's the weather in your corner of the world?

Only 30 more days until Spring. Yeah!!!!!

Kathi, sorry about your car. At least you had notes a couple of times. It will cost 2k to get my car fixed. We have a 500 deductible.

Scan results reveal some progression in sacrum area of lower back and more activity in lumbar area as well as kidneys (already new about kidneys). Stuff going on in colon. MO suggesting radiation, so we have options. At least it's not as bad as I originally thought.

So we live to fight another day.

    Praying for us all.

Lover have never been to Netherlands. Our neighbours are Dutch. DS has been to Amsterdam on school trip. Was hugely struck by the house in which Ann frank and her family were hidden. Said everyone should see that if poss. XX

Awww....I loves you gals SO much! Very humbled by all the kindness and concern 😊

Smaarty ~ Wow! Beautiful top and dresses. They look like the'd be nice n' cool during the summer while lookin' ever so glam. May I be the first to request an online Smaarty Boutique? There would have to be tuffetts too! And look at all that hair on Little Miss Muffet! Evie is changing so fast now with every new picture. She's looking more like a little school girl than a little baby girl. Yes, Feline! also relieved for the lack of spider. And I agree with Loverly about those pretty eyes 👁👁

Oh Spookie.... So heartbreaking about your dear Vulfie. What a handsome boy! It's hard to explain to non dog people how devastating it is to realize that our loyal and hardworking pups have been suffering in silence because they don't want to disappoint us. When they finally do give in to the pain, it's only because they have no other choice. If only humans could love one another so fiercely and unconditionally............

M0mmy ~ Good for you taking a little "vacation"! You work hard all day, everyday - even when you should be resting from surgery! You deserve a few more days off!

Peppy ~ You need to slow down too! Stop bleeding yourself! Hoping the itchies get gone soon. And Little Gus was crushing on Loverly? Those shy guys seem to have a special sense about people who are extra special :) I looked up the Abandoned Art - that is sooo cool! I love your plan to leave things at your cancer center to make some other folks happy. I wish I had some kind of artistic talent; it would be fun to make things to abandon when I start rads in a few weeks

loverly ~ When are you cruising? What other places will you see? I think the Netherlands are always cold and snowy. With Reindeers. Oy, your poor dad and all his silent pain. I keep thinking of what Eeyore said, that he is a Dragon. Brave, strong and protective of what he holds dear. I can see it :)

Jazzy ~ You made an angry face back there! I do not recall ever seeing you with an angry face. Any more spammers thinking of coming here better watch out!

Susan ~ Hope you get some good rest. Awesome you have a sleepy puppy! I bet he looks adorable all sprawled out. I slept great for one night, okayish last night. I do have Valium but it doesn't help much. You would think I would be comatose with all the stufff I'm taking all day; pain meds + Benadryl + Sudafed + Claritin... If the pills weren't so dang small, Id try cuting the Decadron into quarters. I'll probably be stuck with it for a while even after surgery. Need it to keep the tumor pressure manageable so the migraines stay gone. really wish I could properly see. Have no idea what to expect after surgery. My plan is to wake and be all hunky dorie and peachy keen and skippy twist my way out the hospital door :)

Kath ~ WTH? Why are people so bad to your car? Man oh man, I hate bad people. With that big airbag recall from awhile back those things are probably as valuable as gold right now. FFH has been on a waiting list at the dealership for months as the replacements aren't being manufactured fast enough. Hope the Doc is good when you finally get to see her. How has your DH been? Any more "episodes"? Your house has got too much stressfulness going on. Closing my eyes right now and concentrating on sending waves of peace and healing your way 🎆

Lita ~ Damn....hope your docs can figure out a way to knock those buggers out for good.

Feline! Shhhhhh....I might have told Loverly the wrong stuffs about those Where-ever Lands.............

JunieB ~ read your email and remember that I loves you!

Hey WildGrll, Lookie, Sensi, Chevy, Mags and Queenie!

My official 4 year cancerversary is Feb. 14th. How whack is it that on that day in 2013 I got an MRI that totally devastated my world by showing my swiss cheese surprise cancer spine - and this year on that day, I was ecstatic to get MRI results that showed only one big tumer and some treatable spots in my brain? At least I'm still outliving the original dictor's prognosis, the one who broke the cancer news to me by saying I was "going drop dead in six months".

This year I bought myself an anniversary present - wish the photo was better, the shirt is a pretty pink. I think it is hysterical. Might wear it for surgery day 😜

I have read about abandoned books. You write a note in the front saying you enjoyed the book and hope whoever picks it up will too. Then you leave it where it will be found. People here also have little free libraries: a spot outside sheltered from the rain that contains books. They are free to take and you can add your own if you want.

Smaarty, Your dress pics make me want to get spring flowers. They'll be both cool and comfortable. Amazing how much sewing you can do when you're away from the nagging household chores.

Adorable dogs, but I'm sticking to cats.

    Shep, Love the shirt!

Loverly, I think it's you going to Netherlands? I've been to Amsterdam. It's attractive and friendly. And Ann Frank's house is impressive. I don't know when you're going, but if tulips are out it could be spectacular.

Today has been a bit busy today. Thinking of going to the pet store tomorrow and getting a Betta or as they are commonly know as a Siamese Fighting Fish.

Shep: WHERE did you find that shirt? I want one!!! I agree, it's hilarious. Is there a website?

Since I'm still going to be on pill form xeloda for another couple of months (at least until the next scan), I'm going to get my hair cut and roots dyed this afternoon. Gotta enjoy the hair while I still have a little left. It's getting thinner tho. Best friend and I are going wig shopping soon cuz onc is going to switch me to IV chemo soon. The little bit of progression I have is an indication that xeloda will soon run its course.

DD is home from school this weekend. We will all go out to dinner on Sunday for a belated Valentines day dinner. No wine for me, boo hoo, cuz I'm back on chemo on Monday.

    Stay warm and dry, friends.

M0mmy ~ Fighting fish? Is that even legal? Don't be going all Michael Vick on us now!

Lita ~ This been a hell of a beginning to 2017 for so many of us. Hate it, hate it. I will do rads after surgery and then MO is thinking about the pill form of Xeloda . I've not done any chemo yet. Kinda po'd about it all....but there's no one to be mad at. (sigh) Enjoy your time with DD! So wonderful when we be lifted up by our loved ones :)

Medtees sells my shirt via CafePress and has a bunch of good designs. Bonus - every purchase contributes to programs supporting related research and treatment! If you sign up for the CaffePress newsletters, they will email you sale info and discount codes. The shirts are nice quality and only take a few days to arrive in the mail.

This will be the next one I get to wear for my rads :)

All the Bettas I have had before got along well with my other fish. My tank has Tetras, a Cory cat fish and a Plecostomus or Pleco, for short ( it's another variety of a cat fish). Tried raising live-bearing fish like Mollies but I have no luck. The reason Bettas are called Fighting Fish is that if you put more than one male in a tank they will fight until one submits or dies otherwise they are pretty peaceful. They also tell you that you shouldn't put another tank with a male near it or a mirror around it as the fish will still act aggressive towards what it presumes is a competitor for territory. These fish are quite legal to own. I prefer the male Bettas as they are more colorful and the fins come in a variety of styles. Most of the Bettas I have had this style of fin

kathindc, sorry about your car. Long time ago, similar bad luck stories happened to my dads car. We were all, thrilled when it was finally stollen 😜 Hope your story is a better one :)

Sheps, praying for your upcoming surgery :) be well. Xeolda can screw up feet....the best thing I had found when I was on that was Mary Kay emollient cream for your face. I put it on my feet with socks, it kept them from cracking open.

Juneb, sorry Kirby is away for awhile. It will be easier for you in the long run. Hang in there :)

Lover, sounds like a great trip, when do you go?

And yes, I am very busy...whoever said that....but I have found a cure to insomnia!!! I sleep well these days. Or should I say...I pass out well these days.

The kids were over for dinner today. Elena is getting so big. Wiggle dances when she hears music now. So cute. And she eats anything and everything. She ate chicken shiskabob shredded up tonight and some of her moms tuna kabob.

I sign d up for a hiking trip to Vermont in September. Might have bit off more than I can chew. But we stay in a 5 star spa hotel. So if I can't do the whole week, I still will be good. Pampering is nice too. This hiking group I belong too is great:)

    Night night

    Sweet dream

Mommy, the bookkeeper in my dentist's office use to put a Betta in a wide vase she grew a philodendron in. It was really cool to see.

Junie, when I made my appointment I was told if there was a cancellation that I would be bumped up. So far, I haven't heard a word but really wasn't expecting a call. Bummer. Hope you get to see the Kirbs when the trainer is in the area.

The car is only four years old. Seriously thought about turning it in last year as I think it's jinxed. It would be different if it was at the end of its useful life. We are known to hold onto our cars for 15+ years. We carry a low deductible so it isn't too bad. Our neighbor carries a high deductible and will have to go out of pocket for the cost of the window. Our block is 75+ years old so no garage. Most of the neighborhood is very old so very few private garages.

Shep, love the tee shirts. I have to look into one. Husband, notice I didn't say DH, runs hot and cold with his moods. It is a drag to be around. As I've gotten older, I've mellowed out about a lot of things. Him, not so much. You would think everything was a catastrophe. There are times he acts paranoid when I'm texting or checking my e-mail. I text the kids and a couple of friends. He absolutely hates for me to be on this site. So I try to do it when he isn't around. The funny thing is when he goes off. he ends up not talking to me. So I don't talk. Here's the good part, I get "So, you're giving me the silent treatment. How long is that going to last." I laugh and remind him conversations are a two way street and he's the one who stopped talking sooooo. Rental car had a smoker in it and I'm a non-smoker and sensitive to the smell. Doesn't help the asthma either. Hubby got PO'd with me to bringing the subject up. The guy at the body shop checked the rental when I mentioned it and he agreed. I was told I would have to deal with it but hubby goes in and takes care of it. Dag gone if they didn't spray the interior of the exchange car with an overpowering sweet air freshener. I left the window open to air it out and caught hell for that. Just reminded him that I do like to breath without gasping for air. That shut him up!

Miss Chevy, you behavin' yourself. Hope your lungs are clearing. Be careful and don't overdue things.

Lover, have a safe trip and a wonderful visit with your daughter.

Hi Jazzy, Mags, Poppy, Smaarty, Wren, Feline, Spookie, Teka and all the other lovely ladies here.

Mommy, me and DD had several Betta fish over the years. Incidentally, we named them after all the "HOUSE" characters on that show with Hugh Laurie. We had a "Cuddy," a "Wilson," a "House," etc. Then we had to move on to other names. Most of them only lasted about a year or so, sadly. But we absolutely adored them with their beautiful full fins. DD is in college now, so no more Betta fish. Sure do miss 'em tho.

Good luck to you, and keep 'em alive. DO NOT over feed them. Learned that the hard way. Just about once a day, or even once every other day.

Cheers to our favorite, Beau 2.

I love having Bettas in my tank. They always brighten up the tank. I have had red ones and blue ones. I had one red one that I called Fireball and one of my blue ones I called Bluebeard. I don't know what I color I will get for my tank this time

I LOVED raising fish! I had so many tanks, over the years.... Raised Angel Fish, watched them spawn on huge leaves, raise their babies, and then fed them baby brine shrimp that I raised. Sold them to Pet Stores.

I had Betta's.... divided a 5 gallon tank with a piece of glass, put a female on one side.... They watched them, and knew when "she" was ready to mate. I took the glass out, and it was a "dance" they did! Very beautiful! Finally, when the time came, they met at the top, and he folded her in his flowing fins.... she let her eggs go, and he fertilized them while they were dropping to the bottom. He immediately swam down to get them, put them in his mouth, and blew them carefully up into his bubble-nest that he had been preparing!

She would sink to the bottom.... for a few minutes.... then go back up, and they did this until she was done laying her eggs! The babies hatched, but I could not keep them alive. He would accidentally eat them with his food.... But I tried so HARD!

Yes, I raised one in a huge vase.... even bought a little heater to stick inside.... Fed them live brine shrimp.... A little mirror on the outside kept them entertained. They are really easy to raise!

I got allergic to the water..... changing and cleaning the tropical tanks.... But I had fish for maybe 15 years!

    susan3 Member Posts: 2,631

we bred fish too chevster. Convicts were the ones that had babies. I used to laugh as the mother would blow a hole in the stones then transfer the babies there. Prob to keep the, safe from predators, she kept changing locations. She was the only one in the tank with her young...but instinct is instinct I guess :)

    Have a great Sunday everyone.

It was 70 here in the Chicagoland area yesterday. This week 60's. Weird weather around here. Nice to see the sunshine:

I used to help my mom raise fish. We would get live bearing ones like Mollies, Platys and Swordfish. My mom preferred getting a male/female pair. We always tried to get females that were as pregnant as could be. One time we got a pregnant female Black Mollie who looked like she was ready to have her young anytime. We didn't even get her home and settled into the nursery unit we had for inside the tank. I just happen to look in the bag and I went "Oh Crud! The female Mollie is having the babies!" By the time we got home she had given birth to all her babies. She was our most prolific breeder and we named her Big Mama as you could always tell when she was preggo

morning ladies. Susan, you have our California weather. You must have taken it home with you! We are cold, wet and windy. Another big storm coming in on Monday and Tuesday. Flooding in lots of places.

We had tropical fish for a while. Tried 3 times, after the last time when our a/c went out and they all roasted we quit trying.

Been at the retreat. Brought several unfinished projects. Here's two I got done. The blue one will be a pillow.

Recovering from chemo. Hate this. Headache today. Sister is visiting this weekend, it's a good thing. Cousin fighting off a bug, hope I don't catch it.

Kath, Febreze has a new spray, allergen reducer. We used it on everything when our friend was here last week as he is highly allergic to animals and usually doesn't last the evening. The spray allowed him to stay most of the week, he was very impressed.

Smarty- been at a retreat too, yoga for me and quilting for you. Lovely work!

Evie is super cute, and growing up fast. Looks like she is moving into toddler now.....

Mags- I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Praying you get no viruses. Maybe some comfort food when you are up to it.

Kath- sorry about the car issues. I can relate to some degree on the dual problems. One of my cars got some hail damage in Nov, just got that fixed in January. Then that one was just back when the other got broken in to. ARRRGHHH......

Shep- I keep my angry faces for the right moments. I really despise the lurkers here to try to take advantage of the sisters during a very difficult time in their lives with dx, treatment, etc. Unfortunately, I have learned too many times in life that there are those that want to capitalize on others misfortune. Glad we have the mods to monitor for us.

I know your surgery is coming up and keeping you in my prayers for good outcomes.

Lita- I hope the meds you are taking help with everything going on sister.

Junie- hard to see your lovely puppy go off for training, but good to let the pros do it for you! I hope Kirby is back with you soon!

Susan- I bet your little Elena is growing up quickly too. Are you doing okay sister?

Wishing all of you a good Sunday. I want you to know I put all the sisters here on BCO in our yoga circles whenever we do group practice. Hoping you feel the love Heart

Mags, thanks for the Febreze info. Will have to try it. When people are sick around you, do you use a cloth/paper mask over your nose/mouth like the type a surgeon uses? My DDIL is Japanese. She uses one when she flies or is sick.

My mother had a fish tank. Had to get a second one when we noticed the babies getting eaten soon as they were born. Sometimes by their own mother! Yike

I KNOW! But isn't it fun watching how they breed, and take care of themselves? I also had a "walking cat-fish" of some sort.... He was digging under the sand, raising all kinds of commotion, so I took him out, to take him back! But I had the little bowl on top of the stove, and when I looked again, he had climbed out of it, and went somewhere underneath the stove plate! I never did find him! Ugliest little thing you ever saw!

Yes, I loved the red Sword-fish, for the live bearing also.... I even had those little frogs, and newts at one time.... in with all the fish! Except the frogs were little tail nippers !

I even tried Sea-horses! The Male has the babies....... This was so long ago, I don't remember everything about them..... I just remember him having the babies.... I hatched the brine shrimp for THOSE babies also! But Salt-water tanks are a lot harder to take care of....

I started out with 2 little bitty fish bowls, and 2 beautiful gold-fish.... And that hobby just went crazy! Our girls loved watching the fish..... I wound up with a 55 gallon show tank, and smaller ones, to raise different fish.... The Angels were my favorites!

So today I am working outdoors.... mixing our compost barrels with older potting soil, from last years plants. We saved all of our "garbage" this past Winter.... Coffee-grounds, peelings, cut-up rinds from pineapple, watermelon, grapefruit, and any food that we had left over! Used a lot of dried leaves from the Fall..... We got rid of our disposal last year, and it saved a lot of plumbing problems! Remember when we didn't even HAVE disposal's????

You would THINK I lived out in the Wilderness.... Hah!

Chevy - I hope your pneumonia is getting better.

Lita - So sorry to hear of your progression. I hope treatment kicks Mr. Cancer's butt, that dirty S.O.B.

Kathindc - Even though you haven't heard from the Rheumatologist yet there is still time. You said your appt. isn't until mid-March, right? Another patient could cancel at any time.

Shep - I want one of those shirts. Where can I find it? Sorry your not sleeping well.

Mags - Glad you have your sister to keep you company. Distract you a bit from not feeling well. I hope it passes soon.

I've called Kirby's trainer each day so far. She says he is doing incredibly well for a dog so young, and she is impressed with how well I've socialized him. He is a very confident and happy dog. I just hope he'll be happy to see me when he comes home. He went with her to 3 of her training sessions yesterday and he got to play with a clients' Dachshund too. One client liked Kirby so much they asked if I'd be willing to sell him. ABSOLUTELY FOR NO AMOUNT OF MONEY!!!!! It took me 6 years to finally get him and I miss him so much. But I know the training is what is best for him at this time.

Susan - You are so fortunate to be experiencing 70 degree weather. We STILL have rain and snow is being predicted again. CRUD!

Smaarty - That yellow quilt is beautiful! Isn't that what they call a whack & stack pattern?

Smaarty those are beautiful! I love the one block wonder pattern of the silhouette! And what a fantastic idea - buying and selling "unfinished projects" I never have heard of that , how does it work, are they really something that someone started? Are they deliberately started and then left for people to buy and complete?

Been going loopy stress cleaning and prepping for Friday. I started when I woke up this morning and kept going 'til a few hours ago. I forgot all about eating and ended up having breakfast at 10 p.m. Gah!

You know how those first 9 months of pregnancy are the roughest? And how just before birthing time the "nesting instinct" kicks in and there is much frenzied activity to make sure everything is just right? Well, I am pretty darn certain that doctor made a mistake and I am not having a brain tumor. I am having kittens! 🐱🐈😺

Off to go snuggle down in my dresser drawer to try to get some sleep......

Oh EEeeeeeeks! That's not real, is it? Is that the only fish bowl you could come up with? And you have to add de-chlor to that water ! They didn't have much of a view, did they?

But that toilet is sure clean! Hah!

Years ago, I had bought this program....http://www.serenescreen.com/

And it has sounds.... either "bubbles" or soft music, AND you can pick the fish you want displayed.... I loved it! Don't use it much anymore, because you have to just sit in front of your computer screen, Winking But the fish are so life-like, and beautiful! It shows the date, month, and even a pretty under-water clock... Surprised they still offer this for sale.... You can pick your fish, and how many.....

Thanks for reminding me I have this on my desk-top!

You can find lots of free screen-savers on You Tube, and you don't have to take care of any fish.....SillyHeart
