INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Sensi - So sorry we didn't get to meet on your pass by Salem. Hope you had a good time in Portland.
Mags - Glad to hear about the reduction in your tumor sizes. Like Chevy said, only you know what you can handle, but if the treatment is having such good results, isn't it worth it for only 6 more treatments? Just asking.
Loverly - What in the world did Mitzy rub herself in? She looks almost like a statue in that pic. Beautiful girl.
I took Kirby with me to the store on Saturday night and he did really well until he saw some balloons. Holey Moley! He about blew a gasket. I am going to have to get some balloons and bring them home to see if I can desensitize him. Trainer is coming on Friday. We rescheduled since I have the pink-eye.
Lita - $500 is still a lot, but I guess it's better than it could have been. I know what your saying though about the premium increase. Back in 2010 I had a man road rage me because my VW Beetle wasn't going fast enough and he stayed on my bumper all the way to the store, then stopped and cussed me out and keyed the entire length on the passenger side of my car. He got arrested and found guilty and had to pay fines, plus 2 years of probation. But, despite it not being my fault at all, my insurer raised my premiums 32% when it was time to renew the policy. You can bet I found another insurance carrier.
Shep - You seem to be holding it together fairly well despite everything. I know though that you are scared. I wish I could do more than send an e-card. So glad Pris enjoyed it too.
Hello to everyone else. I am off to bed now. I am baking Valentines cupcakes in the morning. Unfortunately Lita, no special ingredient though.
Goodnight to all!

Shep well done you and best wishes with the crime spree (Freeing animals from zoos and laboratories perhaps ?)
Mags very good news on DH pulling himself together and best wishes with your treatment decisions. You will know what is best when you have the complete info.

Loverly- ha ha, I had a couple men hit on me while doing slots.
Here she is

Thanks all for being there with me last week. The Onco Gynocologist said all looked fine, took out ovaries and tubes and sent away to pathologist. Fingers crossed for good results. My big complaint has been the damn shoulder pain from the CO2 gas...so strange but seems to be coming to an end today. Tired, just been watching netflix (Wild China was good, love Mad Men too) which I never find time for and trying to work up energy to sew. Hate that feeling that Im wasting time...
Feel like we are in the middle of a the gods must hate us zone! My town has been under voluntary evac for flooding twice in the last month, a huge train derailed nearby closing the freeway last week and now the Oroville dam. Its mind boggling to think of over 180,000 people evacuated, seems unreal and so sad for everyone. Hope the repairs work.
Thanks again and I'm headed back to read and see what you all have been up to the last few days...I hope you've been good

Hey, there you are. Oh yes the shoulder and thoracic back pain is uncomfortable..., all the trapped gas. I had DH and DD tap on my back like you would burp a baby. Not sure if it did help, but the " burping" did distract me from the shoulder pain. Ha! I remember googling ways to move the gas to the other end. Yes, I was desperate because I was so uncomfortable. Imagine me in a squat position. I don't think it's safe for you with your surgery to squat though. Hang in there. Each day is a day nearer to gas free.
Yes, the gods must be mad at us!
Views from I-5
It looks like we have lake front properties. So sad for those who live near the dam. I have been hearing quite a few helicopters flyingover us. Gosh, I hope this next storm is mild.
Jazzy, Diana Ross' costumes! Wow! Did you get goosebumps listening to her? I am not surprised men hit on you.
JunieB, poor Kirby. Wonder why he is scared of balloons unless they popped on him before. Not sure what scent(s) Mitzy likes to roll in. I am thinking the most recent one was the earthworm's??? I can kind of tell now when she is ready to roll and she always has this " am I in trouble look" afterwards. Yesterday my sister ,who just recently moved here, came over to visit with her little family and dog Xena. Mitzy was good with her until Xena approach me while I was reclining on the sofa with my niece, the newborn. Boy oh boy Mitzy showed her other side. She gave Zena several warning snaps to stay away from me. She is such a brat. I feel bad for Xena who is about almost 1.5 bigger than Mitzy.
Susan, how are you doing? Do you still have the eyelash extensions? I am always afraid to have my eyelashes done. My order for castor oil (comes in a container similar to mascara) came in yesterday. Just in time! Yesterday morning I had put eyeliner on and curled the lashes right after . I was wondering why my lashes on the left seemed longer than usual. Last night when I was about to put the castor oil and oh my dear..,,I noticed that at least an eighth of my lashes were cut short. Immediately I ran to get the eye lashes curlers to see if there were any traces of my cut lashes. Nothing!!!!! They must have fallen off somewhere between my home and church So now I walk around with funky looking lashes on my right eye. Can't help but laugh at myself. Grateful I still have 7/8 of it Also grateful that the castor oil came in just at the right time. Ha!

sheps, hope test results were good today
Mags, glad they got reduced. I don't like putting my 2 sense in when it comes to treatments, I find it's not always well received....but here it goes mags...just for you my friend. I am on palliative chemo...which is that lower dose your doc was talking about. I do really well considering. Ask smaarty and lover, we met in California. I am all for the lower dose chemo cause it has bought me 5 years fo far, and it's doable I think. Ok...that's enough of that. Praying for you and a wise and comfortable decision for you
Kirby is soooo cute.
Lover, no more eyelashes. Loved loved them. They looked like my old ones. Everybody was telling me how good I have been looking without realizing why. Buttttt, I need to spend my money on different things. So I stopped
Yucky pink eye...hope it gets better soon
Ok...are you all sitting down?? You know I have been saying I haven't been on the boards much cause I have gotten busy with grandbaby and I am tired a lot. Ok.....so you know what I did??? Bought a puppy Sunday. Yep...you read it right...ha ha.. I now have a 10 week old havanese. A boy, I named bailey. I will post a picture. So far, precious and a good boy. My 16 year old dog Shelby, is going to be stunned when he is still here after 2 weeks. We dog sit a lot...ha ha...but this one is staying. So I might be a little more tired...but dog since make me sooooooooo happy. I needed this for my every day dose of happiness:)

More puppies! Congrats Susan!

YAY FOR BAILEY! Too cute for words.
Watching a classic episode of Kung Fu with David Carradine, "Nature of Evil," where David's dad, John Carradine and his brother, Robert, acted in it with him. John played the old blind, tarot card reading fortune teller, and Robert played Sunny Jim. What a great acting dynasty.
Waiting for Pet scan results. Will have them by Friday. Picking up the cd images tomorrow, but the radiology written report won't be available til later in the week. Keeping fingers and toes crossed.

Welcome Ninja! Glad Mags invited you to Insomniacs! You'll find It's just a little bitty pissant country place. Ain't nothing much to see. No drinking allowed, we get a nice quiet crowd, plain as it can be. It's just a piddly squatting old time country place...Ain't nothing to hide at all. Just lots of good will and maybe one small thrill...But there's nothing dirty going on. oooooh....sorry, thinking of another place. But uh, ya...nothing but us genteel, well mannered ladies here 😇
Susan! Happy, happy, happy for you! Whatta adorable fuzzy face! And such nice coloring! Most of the Havenese in this area are all white. I can't be trusted with white clothing.....nevermind a white dog. Cats don't count - they are self cleaning, ha! Has Elena seen Bailey yet? How fun to be able to watch the two babies grow up together. Hoping Shelby will take on a doting Big Sister role once she recovers from her "shock"
Jazzy ~ You really ARE the coolest! Eagerly awaiting more details of your excellent adventure!
Smaarty, Loverly, Peppy and Sensi ~ I've been worried for you Upper Cali Girls. (NOT Northern 'cuz I ain't about to refer to my dear friends as yankees) Should one of ya'll go get Peppy, DH and Gus Kitty? Prayers for all to stay safe and unfloody.......
Peppy ~ Simethicone gelcaps work best for gas issues - Phazyme, Gas-X or store brand. Very gentle with no medicine interactions. Same stuff that is given to gassy newborns.
And.... if you girls would just wear your black eyeliner thick enough you wouldn't need to worry about eyelashes and mascara. True fact.
Loverly ~ Oooooh, I hate those nasty jealous fits! Marti occasionally pulls that too. I used to keep her with me during my training classes which helped keep that green eyed monster in check. When she was a pup she would observe the class from her crate. Once she was a little bit older (3 or 4 months old?) I would have her in a down-stay while teaching class. She has never liked me to touch another dog but had to learn to accept it. Now, as a bossy old lady, she feels entitled to do as she pleases. I trust her with small dogs and puppies but not big dogs. I think she is amused by the smaller/younger dogs.....she'll politely lay down and happily watch them do all kinds of stuff she'd normally get irked by.
Xena is an exceptionally restrained young lady to have backed down when Mitzy "showed her arse". You were holding Xena's baby....that could have turned ugly. Hopefully as the two girls spend more time together things will chill out. In the meantime, I would crate Mitzy with toys and treats and let her observe when you are spending time with your niece and Xena. Mitzy is jealous of Xena's attentions to you - could easily transfer to baby niece if she begins to associate the two of them together. On the bright side, now you know for sure Mitzy loves her Mamma ! Goofy dogs.....
JunieB ~ How's the eyes? Hmmm....talking about make-up...now you'll have to toss anything that goes on or near your eyes out. Gosh, I hate that! Good incentive to clean out the cosmetics drawer I suppose. Still sad though. And what is this about a trainer that isn't me? Har-umph! You are forgiven this time as I will be "busy" for the next however many weeks. Stupid health stuff. Are you clicker training? You are doing so, so great with Kirby. If the trainer does anything you don't feel comfortable about, give 'em the boot. Seriously. Don't let anyone wreck your baby - no choke collars, no shock collars, no harsh corrections..... Training is supposed to be enjoyable and stress-free for you and Kirby. Praise, rewards, positive reinforcement.....all the stuff you've been doing Kirby and the balloons - silly boy! Great idea to have some for him at home. Wonder what he thinks they are?
Ack.....must jump off the dog-food pallet (no soapbox in pet store) and "turn off" trainer mode......
WildT - go to http://www.needymeds.org/ and dig around. Great resource Sassy had shared a while back. Kind of a slog to navigate through but there are links and links for all kinds of financial assistance and grants. Lots of stuff for folks with kids, AND scholarship money for cancer patients to continue their education! You could get your class paid for! Had forgotten about that site and was looking earlier today. Need to have DS go through it with me 'cuz I can't see well enough to fill stuff out on my own.
Mags ~ 31% reduction overall is truly incredible! (I was gonna say f'ing but being polite for your Ninja) I've had some reduction of bone mets over the past 4 years....NOTHING like your results. Plus you've got the lung buggers shrinking too? I'm scared witless over my sitch and probable chemo in the next month. (haven't had any thus far) I don't want to get sick from chemo but if I can get results close to yours.....wow. You know what is best for you - of course! But.....If you can continue to do so well on a gentler treatment, then that seems to be the way to go. Like I said, I have no clue of the chemo stuffs. I am just so damned sick and tired of seeing our sisters dying. Please Mags....LIVE. Live well, live happy. Okay? 💓
Feline ~ Ooooh yes! I would love to include animal liberation on my crime spree! Where to put them though? The critters at the local zoo wouldn't know what to do without their peoples. The zoo is privately owned by a family and the animals are raised like house pets. The big cats all think they are kittens Thinking of free range exotic beasts...... There have been sightings over the years of monkeys living in the forests here. Ask your DH if he has ever heard of Monkey Island in SC.
As for my stuffs.......
I slept for almost 5 hours today! Yay! I had been "awake" for about 21 hours or so? I started halving the decadron pills today - half in the a.m. and half in the p.m. , Sleeping for an hour at a time is sooo not working. No MRI results yet. Surgury is for sure next (!) Friday but no definite time yet......they are thinking noon but that could change. WTH? Did pre-op bloodwork at PCP's office this morning. Have not done any of the home prep stuff I need to do. No migraines, but still headaches and vision is still bad. Can't read numbers anymore. Kinda sucks. Computer is hard on my eyes still. Been working on this post off and on for several hours. Ya'll are my fave distraction
Lots of love and good wishes and happy thoughts to everyone......
Gonna try for another five hours of zzzzzzs

Shep, Thank you SO much for that link!!!!! I will definitely check it out, if not for school (keep reading), then who knows. I'm so sorry for your sleep and vision problems. Stinks that it is so laborious for you to keep up with your fan club here on insomniacs. Hugs, friend. Does this bold type help you see the words better? We could try to bold print to you.
I'm trying so hard to keep up with all of you, cuz you all have a special place in my heart, but am having time management issues. Never enough time or energy to do what I want.
Hoping my memory is accurate as I scanned recent posts...Lita, Shep, hoping for good test results.
Jazzy, So glad you had a good Vegas trip!
Loverly, funny..what I noticed first in the pics was the green trees and blue sky. It's so brown and gray in MN. We have had temps in 30s and 40s recently, so snow is melting and everything looks dirty.
Poppy, glad you are recovering well. Good luck with results! I know what you mean..when I have surgery I always think that while I'm laying around I can do some sort of passive project, like paperwork, but it never happens.
Love the puppy pics..kinda makes me want one.
Pink, welcome!
I did find out the nutrition school is partnering with another organization to offer scholarships, and I got in my application. I got an automatic response that I would hear by the beginning of next month, but if I don't get it, I can re-apply. The way it was worded, I'm concerned that if I do get it, I would have to start the program right away, but taking it one step at a time. Overall, the kids and I are good. I turned down work today and I have a huge to-do list. My DD has a check up with one of her specialists this afternoon, so have to pick up kids early, which means less time for my chores.
Love and hugs!!

What am I gonna do??? Zero sleep agian.. eighteen hours with no nap. Ativan and benadryl no help. Is it the Decadron? Or my increasing panic about all the upcoming scary stuff? Not usually so train wrecky. I need Jazzys magical foot massager 😢
WildGrrl | oh yeds.! Bold type is nice! That website has stuff to help the twins too.... not just for cancer. So excited for you and wicked awed! I am confident you will succeed tremendously at all the good things you set out to accomplish. 😊
Susan ~ that's no doggy.... you have a fur real Ewok! 🐻
gonna yry to snooze again.......

Shep, Yes, the Decadron wrecks havoc on the nervous system and can cause you to be jittery and not sleep. Oh, the stories I could tell of the times my DD was on it. Your emotions are playing a part too, of course. Maybe try this...warm bath or shower, fresh jammies, then pile on the blankets for some deep pressure. (You may need a fan on if that would be too hot for you.) Or, roll yourself up tight in a blanket..think baby swaddle. Then deep breathe. I did take a brief look at website already and will dip deeper tonight. I did see it covered many Dx...thanks again!!!!

There is a Havanaese at dog park who is a golden apricot color. He doesn't play well with other dogs. Is a rescue maybe that's why. Are the national dog of Cuba, can be any color. Thought to be related to Maltese.

sheps, do you think you can get a prescription for Valium. I can be a horrible sleeper, that is the only thing that does it for me. Other than a tranquilizing dart...lol. Good luck
Bailey is great with other dogs and people. They are suppose to be great Velcro dogs who get along with everyone. A couple of friends have one and those two are great. There are a lot of mixes of them now. With poodles and King Charles caviliers. Yes they are the dog of Cuba. So fr he seems great. But not into trouble at 10 weeks. Those days are coming. But I love training dogs. I hope we can do agility and a therapy dog
How are you doing mags?
Lover, how is your dad?
Chevster, hope your breathing is better
I know I missed a lot...sorry. Hope all is well
Happy valentines to all

Shep steroids certainly play havoc with our sleep cycle, and worring about your up coming procedures does not help as well. How is Marti?
Junie yuck for pink eye , I have had it and it is not fun.
Loverly I had a white bichon frise that loved to roll in smelly stuff . I used to walk him on trails that horse riders used. We had a contest of wills on those walks. He was a lovable happy dog with a strong personality.
Susan your puppy is adorable, I always wanted a Havanaes the same color as your Bailey. My daughter is adopting a rescue dog this week, part Rottweiler, she doesn't look look too big though.
WIldtulip I going for my exchange surgery at the end of this month, did you have fat grafting with yours? I having fat grafting from my stomach (yahoo) and wondering what the recovery is. I have a part time seasonal job starting in March.
I'm back taking more knitting lessons, learning different stitches and really enjoying myself.
I off for a valentines lunch with my dh today. It's beautiful here, sunshine and melting snow

I did agility with my Australian shepherd. He had a few titles. Was a LOT of fun. Wanted to try with Spookie but it didn't work out.

Shep, about the decadron, I had to take it when I had my first rounds of chemo, 2 the day before, 2 the day after. I started off taking one in the morning and one at night and not sleeping at all. When I told my chemo nurse, she said, you don't have to take the second one at night. Don't take it after 3 in the afternoon. Of course you should talk to your MO before changing anything, but I can tell you that helped immensely.
Well Owlettes, I have made my decision. I'm going to go ahead with 6 more weeks of chemo. It's 2 weeks on, one off, another 2 weeks on, one off, then another PET scan. I'm glad I took a week off; I was so emotionally fragile that I had no business making decisions. But with input from all y'all, I have weighed all the options and decided I can do it. I called the MO's office and left a message with his nurse but haven't heard back, and nothing on the patient portal. Hopefully I haven't fallen through the cracks.
Susan, Bailey is just the cutest! Rivaling the cuteness of the Kirbs. Love the jacket

Happy Valentines Day to all my dear friends at bc.org
And Happy Valentines Day to you too, Mr. Cancer, you son of a Bitch! I'm not going to let you ruin my day. I'm enjoying a glass of Domaine Chandon Brut Rose champagne with DH on the patio. It's a beautiful day, 72 degrees. PET scan results can go to hell until Friday.
BTW, the pin I'm wearing says, "stupid cancer"!

Lookie, I have not had fat grafting yet, but I'm scheduled for it in April. My PS does not do FG at the time of the exchange. My PS told me that I'll be on pain meds a couple of days, then slowly getting better. But, some paperwork I got from the office said to limit activity for a couple of weeks. My understanding is it's the donor site that is painful, not the chest. A nurse told me that I will have surgical wraps, but that some women prefer spanx, so that's an option. Hope this helps. There is a Fat Grafting thread on BCO, for more info.

Mags, Best wishes on your next set of chemo treatments.
Junie, I hope the pink eye is healing. Yucky stuff!
Loverly,
