INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Lita!!!! Haaaaaaaaaah! That's the spirit girl! You look just perfect! Glad for the Champagne AND your DH!
Now Mags! I'm so happy for you! Glad you took some time off, to think about everything! Can't make any sense, when our brains are just scrambled, and we don't know which way to turn!
We need to kick our ideas around awhile, and see what others think, then go ahead and plan the best course for ourselves..... You have a great team working with you, and they ARE giving you several options.... Next time, just tell them, I am going to talk it over with my "other team" and see what I can come up with.
Good for YOU! You know, we can get so DOWN with all the crap we have to put up with.... and we start hanging around in that black hole, and it's hard to get back up.... but with a little luck, and a lot of love, you DID it!
And I'm better too! Asthma is almost gone.... just still have Laryngitis, but maybe keeping up with the treatments, and that Hot fresh Ginger, Lemon, and Honey tea helps a lot! Seems like every year, about this time, things fall apart.... Hah!
Supposed to be warming up for a few days.... getting out in the yard, will really help...
Good Morning everyone else! xoxo

BUZZARD ALERT.......
Beatcancer2017
Registered with BCO today - Username is directly from the aforementioned website that was "reccomended" to our Sister who is currently recovering from surgery.
Very disturbing that this person feels it is acceptable to pose as a cancer patient in order to promote his or her for profit organization. Also disturbing that a "company" supposedly offering to sell trustworthy nutritional information and prepared food products is obviously lacking in marketing skills and an advertising budget.
0 -
Shep, did you report the post?
0 -
I hope the Mods are watching and get these people off BCO. I have seen trolls here for many years, they are on all social media sites peddling their crap.
0 -
Hey Kath ~ Yes, I did report it. The Mods kindly PM'd me to let me know they are looking into poster and website. This is what I told the Mods:
"I had been hopeful that the post was sharing information that is very much needed by so many of us here. I did explore the website.......lots of dead links and vague descriptions. There is absolutely no pricing information for any of the services offered. Very much hoping I didn't pick up any type of malware by going there. Geez, I know better......"
Edited to say "Hey Jazzy!"
I really, really hate that the spammer singled out one of our Sisters by name - like a "friend" would do.
I do so wish the boards were password accessible to registered members only with the informational stuff and newbie boards being the only places open to all.

And in the 2nd bestest news ever this week.......I SLEPT!!!!!!!!!!!
BEST news is Mags 🤗
Thank you all for the advices! Taking 2mg of Decadron daily now. What a huuuuuuge difference! Slept allll night and most of the day with Pris Kitty snuggied up nice n' warm. No way I could have handled the sleep deprivation any longer. Phew....
My surgeon's nurse called yesterday - the MRI report came in and did not show any other nasties besides the ones the CT had already shown. Big, big releif. She also told me the hospital would evaluate me before going home and set up any services I may need at home. I had been way stressed about that stuff. Feels like a giant weight has been lifted.
Another nice surprise was a call from Sassy! Gosh her timing was perfect. Love that lady! She's doing great and sends her love to all. Sas was very touched that Teka had remembered DS wedding and has promised to get some pictures together for Teka (and us!). The wedding was perfect with lots of friends and family all enjoying each other. Very happy news.
Lookie ~ Sweet of you to ask about Marti. Only issue she's been having is boredom! She wants to play, rest, rest, play, rest, rest, play... very busy for an old girl. She is happy, social, mobile and eating/drinking well. I know this could quickly change and am so grateful for these good days she has been blessed with.
Spookie - What areas of Agility did your Aussie compete in? Wish we had an interest in it where I am. Love it. Marti used to do so pretty on the weave poles. She liked the jumps but not the tire. Tracking and herding were her strengths. We never competed but had lots of fun. Would you have another Aussie ever? I've wanted one for years but FFH is not agreeable. I'll just sneak one home some day, ha!
Hoping all those that have been feeling icky are feeling better and that all are safe from floods, snow, storms and all other weather unpleasantness.
Eagerly awaiting more puppy stories and pics!

Shep- glad you are sleeping sister and it sounds like nothing more in the scans (good news amidst the bigger findings recently). It sounds like your hospital is making sure you have what you need both for surgery and when you go home. I can a bit of relief with all this and glad to hear it sister.
Anyone asking for money here or trying sell something is definitely up for question. Big NO NO!
Thanks for letting us know you heard from Sassy and glad to hear the wedding has happened too. I hope she is enjoying life!

Shep, I reported it as well. Thought it was such an odd post. Made me feel uneasy, like we were being watched and as you say singling one of our sisters out. What I didn't like was it pushing so hard to make a sale as a first time poster. A rule no, no to try and sell something.
Glad that you still have your sense of humor (welcoming Ninja) with all that you are going through. Definitely will be in your pocket.
Edited to add: glad no more yukkies and the hospital will work with you on home care. Been thinking of Sas and the wedding. Happy all went well. Sure miss her
Welcome Ninja. A great group of ladies. I lurk more than post. Have learned so much from these wonderful ladies.
Mags, glad you took your time to think more about your options and feel you are making the right decision for you. You take care of yourself. Yes, it would make things easier for you if your DH took proper care of himself but ultimately it is on him. Hope he keeps on the right path as you don't need that stress.
Ahh, baby and puppy pictures. Keep them coming. They sooth the soul.
Lita, great picture.
Lover, how's your dad, hope he is doing well, and DD1 doing at college? Hope your mom is doing better. Before you know it, she'll be finished her first year. Is she going to do the spring break thing?
Chevy, take it easy. Good grief girl, you're just getting over respiratory problems. I'm turning the table on you and going to play mom. Give yourself some more time before working in the garden.
Jazzy, your trip sounds wonderful. You have great adventures.
Junie, yuk to pink eye. My kids each got it once when they were in high school. I got it in my 50s once. Worked at a university and it was making the rounds. From that time on, I rarely open doors or hold handles without a tissue in my hand.
Hi everyone else!

Hi everyone-
We looked into the service described by the poster, and while it does seem to be a legitimate business, we can't find anything from people who've used it, testimonials, reviews, etc. So we can't be sure of the veracity of the service, and as such, we've removed it. Thanks for your patience while we checked it out; if there's something that you all may find useful or helpful, we want to make sure you know about it, but our first concern (as always) is your comfort and trust in us.

Vulfie was born in 95. We started in obedience, got a few titles. Then agility exploded in this country about 97. He was in 4 registries had AKC, UKC, and ASCA titles. We had a blast. Great, friendly people, unlike conformation. Yuck.
Then one night he refused a jump 4 times. That was the end of it. I couldn't continue in advanced obedience as that requires jumping too. I thought it was his hips. X-ray showed it was his entire spine.
For all of his 14 1/2 years I thought I'd get another. He was my ❤ dog. Soooooo smart, no grooming expenses, all round do it all dog. Awesome Aussies.
But something told me I should get a small dog, that an Aussie wasn't going to work. My health went down the toilet shortly after he went to the bridge. And so spookie is here, all 8# of her. I still miss him.

Wow, I didn't think I'd been gone that long. I logged in and find I'm 4 pages behind.
Also, I am sorry I missed out on wishing everyone of you a "Happy Valentines Day", so here are my belated wishes.
Susan!!! What a beautiful little fur-face you have there. He is beyond precious. Sweet Baily! Don't anyone tell Kirbs, but I think Baily is quite handsome in his little plaid jacket sweater. I know exactly what you mean when you say how tired our little ones make us, but so worth it. Kirby has brought LIFE back into my everyday existence. So happy for you.
Lita - You look beautiful sitting there on your bench with your glass of champagne. I laughed at your Valentines wishes to Mr. Cancer. I'll have to share that one if you don't mind. I hope you and your DH had a great day together.
Shep - Yeah, you got some sleep! Wow, the docs aren't wasting any time. They got you scheduled for surgery on Friday. I am keeping you in prayer for a successful & smooth surgery. Check your e-mail please.
Jazzy - So glad you enjoyed your trip to Las Vegas.
Antibiotics are doing their job. Pink-eye is clearing up. So glad.
I baked 8 doz. cupcakes on Monday and finished decorating them by 3:15 a.m. Tuesday. So, I delivered them around noon and came back home and went to bed. Hips and shoulders are screaming. I so enjoy baking for others, just wish my body would get with the program.
Sensi - Lexi is so pretty. It appears that Chance enjoyed his Valentine's nap.
WildT - Glad the schooling thing is coming together. One step at a time.
Spookie - Your Aussie was a handsome boy.
Poppy - That whole Dam situation with the Oroville Dam is sooooo scary. How close do you live to it? Are you going to have to evacuate?
I obviously missed something, what surgery did you have that required all the gas? It took me so long to finish this post that you had already posted, as well as Kathindc. Glad your feeling better. You are right, it is fun to do for others, but sometimes so hard to accept the kindness in return.
Loverly - You have you very own body guard. Mitzy loves her Mama. Apparently Xena is a patient dog and willing to give in to Mitzy.
Earlier I was looking at a website for theatreworksusa.org. They are going to be doing the play "Charlotte's Web" here in Salem on March 1st. While perusing the site, I found a play called "Junie B's Essential Survival Guide to School" This must be the "Junie B" you were talking about when I first started posting here.
Well, I just finished cleaning up after dinner and vacuuming the blasted pine needles off the carpet again. I am tired, so I will say goodnight & sleep tight to everyone.
Until next time.

The sweetest thing happened today, Loverly stopped by with lunch/dinner for us. It was so nice to have a visit and wonderful food. We had a discussion about how it is sometimes hard to accept offers from others. Giving comes naturally but receiving is very different. Thank you again!
I think my shy little Gus has a crush on Loverly, he rubbed all over her. Loverly, what did your doggie say when you got home?
Feeling itchy today so I must be healing up already and thankfully the gas has gone away! I overdid it yesterday and started spotting. So tried to take it easy and did some sewing. I found a website about Abandoning Art ... has anyone done this or been a recipient? I made a couple of things to "abandon" at my Cancer Center appointment, hope they will cheer someone.
Susan - Bailey is seriously charming. Its great that you have experience training dogs, I'd have to spoil him hes too cute.

Thanks Mods. You're awesome.

poppy, loverly is so sweet. Happy she was able to serve you hope your itching goes away..feel better..rest up
Morning all. We are 40 degrees today and going up to 60 tomorrow. Record breaking for the Chicagoland area.
Smaarty, I get the energy and big dog. I had Belgians. Loved the first one, he was my buddy. Great great dog. But now I need the dogs that will excercise but don't have to if I'm to tired. Bailey is still sleeping. We usually have our romp in the backyard by now and walk around the block. He is gonna fit right in
Hope everyone has a painfree as possible da

Awwwww geez! What did I miss?? Here I was out messing around, watering my Winter Lawn, and some lame-brains are out trolling sites to make a buck! Sometimes it makes me sad that what we talk about here, can be read by people who are only out for their own benefit.
The Mods have always been on top of this, but there isn't any way to stop it before it happens... So yes, THANKS Mods! You are really our guardian angels. We can talk to each other here as "friends" ..... all finding support because of one common cause, but then learning to "know each other" as real Sisters.......
Spookie.... I LOVE your dogs! Our first dog was an Australian Shepherd & Sheltie mix.... They are Sooooooo intelligent! And Chevy loved everyone he ever met... We would sometimes go up to the Mountains, staying in a cabin, and there were horses penned up.... Chevy would always try and round them up, if they were spreading out too far...Ha!
And the neighborhood kids! They all had to stay in a group, or he would try and get them "penned up." Lacee was just "our girl".... It's unbelievable how you love these little "people" just as if they were your kids....
Junie! I know about Pine Needles! They are just everywhere! We have that Colorado Blue Spruce in the front yard, and I KNOW it has to shed, but MAN! You have to keep them off the lawn, or they will smother it, also! I've started watering.... This tree is at least 100 years old..... Just hope it lasts as long as WE do..... Ha!
it is WONDERFUL to be able to go outdoors again, and fool around.

hi guys, well I'm home from the 2nd retreat. Got 5 summer dresses and 1 top made. This time on a roll. I didn't get anything done before. Tomorrow, heading up north a little ways, for last retreat. This one is for quilting projects I haven't finished. But I also brought 2 new one I want to start.
And Evie on her tuffet. I had her mom put it all together since I couldn't ship it.
Susan, bailey is very cute and tiny. I had a cat names bailey. He was very unusual, part Siamese and Manx, so he didn't have a tail.
Mags, glad you're going to be around, hope the chemo isn't too hard on you.
Shep, good luck with the upcoming sx.
Poppy, I know about the itchy. Glad it didn't last too long, hope the same for you. Once you're feeling up to it, we'll go out again. More pics of Gus please.
I have to go, need to finish up stuff for a meeting tonight. Man, I'm pooped. All this fun is tiring

Evie is so precious:) your tops look great.
Night night...had chemo yesterday, I am pooped

Smaarty - Nice dress & top. How did you manage to make 5 dresses and 1 top in such a short time? Little Evie, cute as ever.
Susan - Sleep well.
Hey there Queenie!
Chevy - We had 4 days last weekend of dry, somewhat sunny weather, then Wednesday the rain returned. But tomorrow (Friday) we're supposed to have no rain and a bit of sun, then at least a week of non-stop rain. ENOUGH ALREADY with the rain. 31 days until Spring starts (Mon.-March 20th). Geez, feels like such a long time.
Okay, goodnight for now. Sleep well all.

Smaarty love the style. That dress you are wearing is so beautiful with the big, vivid colours of the flowers on the white background!
What a lovely photo of Evie being Miss Muffet, (thankfully no spider)

It is a blustery day here today. It is garbage day and more than half of the receptacles are horizontal. Hah! Yes, I am easily amused. Grateful though that the rain has stopped for a bit. Sky is still gray. A perfect day to stay by the fireplace with a good book.
Warning: Bible verses mentioned ahead.
Mags, I see such sacrificial love. I am glad you made a decision based on that. I can't imagine what it is like to be beaten while trying to beat those rogue cells yourself. Many times you have said you are ready to go to the Lord, but you choose to trek on because you have your love one's interest in mind. These verses come to mind when I think about you:
"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends."
John 15:12-13 NIV
Both you and Susan have my deepest respect.

Susan, Bailey is adorable! I agree with Shep. That is no Havenese. That is an Ewok. Hopefully, people won't mistaken him for Chewbaka when he is older.
Ms. S, you are so colorful! Ha! Love it! Evie has the prettiest eyes. She is looking more like her mom.
Peppy, Gus is such a sweet boy and I am not even a cat person. Never grew up with one. Love your neck of the woods. Just beautiful!!!
ShepK, we can always count on you to do police work. Man, you do know how to read a person. It was kind of creepy. I am reminded again to be careful what I share here.
Kath and Susan, thank you for asking about dad. I took him to see the neurologist last Friday. Was surprised when doc told me Dad has carpel tunnel in both hands and pinched nerve at right elbow also. Doc said probably not new. Hurts my heart to listen about all these findings when doc was doing the nerve conduction test. Dad probably already has nerve damage in his arms for a long time prior to the accident. I don't remember hearing him complaining about pain in his arms until after the accident. Neuro doc would like for Dad to get off Tramadol and increase the nurontin dose. He still needs a nightly dose of Tramadol to help him to be comfortable enough to either fall asleep or stay asleep. Can't stop the pain med yet. He feels good when he goes out and started driving this week. It is important for him to be independent. He is used to taking cares of things and people, but not the other way around.
Kath, are they managing The Sjögren's ok? DD is doing ok in school. So far managing to keep the scholarship. I really hope she will consider quit swimming next year as she needs to concentrate on the academic. She was really bummed out for not making the National cut for the freestyle....only a few milli seconds away. Told her maybe it was a sign. Will see.
WildT, the other person whom I admire because of your love and perseverance.
Forward, when is exchange surgery? Funny you had a fur baby who liked to rollin stinky stuff too. Yeah, Mitzy is stubborn also.
Lita, best wishes on the scan result.
Ms. Spookie, there is always that one fur baby that took the biggest piece of your heart.
Hello to my other friends who I didn't mention. Got to go make dinner and prepare for our trip tomorrow down south to visit DD.

Well, I just said good-bye to Kirby for at least a month. The trainer came today and worked with him and he did quite well, but I realized that I am physically incapable of doing what is necessary to train him myself. So he will be staying with her for at least a month to get on the basics, then we will re-visit how much more time will be required to get him well on the way to the basics. To get him to a full service dog level it would take 2 years, but that is not in my budget. As it is the trainer is giving me a huge break on her fee and letting me make payments as well.
My apartment is soooooooo empty now. But in the long run it will be for the best.
Has anyone heard anything about Shep's surgery?
Have a enjoyable and safe trip Loverly.

JunieB, I was about to respond to your post. Yes, that is the same JunieB
Aww so sad that your baby is not there. How far is the trainer from you? Are you able to visit? Now you can catch up on your sleep and recharge. Ha!
You are right about Xena being patient with Mitzy. It could have turned ugly if Xena fought back. I thought about that when the two were near me. I was ready to get out of their way if they both get into a scuffle. And Mitzy is no bodyguard. She would be the first to run and leave me behind. She did it once the first week I got her. Took off when two dogs approached us. Thank God some how she managed to find her way home, jumped the fence and stayed in the backyard until I figured it out she ran home (only because the other two dogs were hovering around our front yard smelling the ground and bushes). She scared me to death because we live about 1/4 of a mile from a busy street. She is a chicken. Just acts tough.
Shep's surgery is next Friday around noon. Hope she is hanging in there.
Feline or anyone here had visited the Netherlands? We are planning to stay there two days prior to boarding the Baltic Sea cruise. Any recommendations?

Loverly - Kirby is about 20 miles away, but the trainer has plenty of clients near me, so she could bring him with her for a visit. I just called her to check on how Kirby is doing and she said that he is doing great. She has several Papillion's and Kirby is looking at them trying to figure out what they are and they are looking at him like "Where'd you come from?" She told me she has 3 training sessions tomorrow and will probably take Kirby with her for him to get experience with other dogs. I reminded her though that Kirby is NOT for sale! LOL. I REALLY miss him. It's going to be a long time, but it is for his good.
Thanks for sharing the Bible verses too.
I thought Shep's surgery was today, so thanks for the update. Keeping her in prayer, plus I've asked several other people to pray for her as well.
I am having a lot of new pain in my pelvis and am concerned about it. I see the MO next Tuesday. So we'll see what happens.
Goodnight for now.

Lover, I couldn't get an appointment for the rheumatologist I wanted to see until late next month. I'll let you know what the outcome of that appointment is when I see her. Thank you for asking.
JunieB, I'm sad Kirby has to leave you for a month but glad he will be in good hands becoming a well mannered little boy for you.
Smaarty, you are so talented. Beautiful wardrobe. And Miss Evie is getting so big. Hard to believe she is a year already.
Susan, your hands are full. Working, watching Elena AND a new pup.
I think our car has a target on it. Was hit twice within a month last year. Luckily, notes were left. Took three weeks for the first one to admit fault. Teenage daughter hit the car with the mom in it but the dad took the calls and wouldn't admit his daughter did it. Said it was his wife and we had reported the daughter. Finally, had to tell our insurer that we had the note and would scan it and email it. They had us on hold and I'm not sure who answered but they finally admitted fault. So the car was at the body shop for almost two weeks because of the two repairs. Three months later we are hit again. It was on our block and nobody saw it. Two weeks after getting it back, we were at a shopping strip mall. Parked nowhere near any cars. Came out to see yellow paint way down low on the passenger side. Ok, I'll live with that as it wasn't too bad. Monday the car is in front of the house and was broken into. Smashed out the small back window and ripped out the glove compartment. Took it to the body shop today. The gut we work with is trying to figure out how to put a force field around it, LOL. Was kind enough to take care of the yellow paint gratis. So far no increase in our premium. About a quarter mile away, that area is constantly having their cars broken into. Our neighbor behind us was broken into as well. Weren't both are Camry owners. Our reporting officer said they are a car of choice. Luckily, neither car had anything missing. At 8:30 that morning, our cars were the 19th and 20th cars reported lord only knows if others were involved. Our body shop guy said an entire block in Maryland got hit and driver side airbags were taken.
