Mags, I used to eat saltine crackers and visualize them absorbing the acid. I think I learned it during pregnancy.

As hard as it is, try to up the water as much as you can, Mags. It helps dilute some of the acid and flushes it thru the gi tract. At least that's what they told me when I had it. Snacks and mini meals, too.
I also did the crackers when mine acted up.

Hey Y'all!
Haven't been on in a while - eyes stilll too wonky. Ohhhhhh but I did see a big beautiful Rottie girl! Lookie what I came over to share had made me thiink of Mitzy. Now I know this deal was meant for your new grandbaby!
Big doggies are rough on balls. Marti does well with soccer and basketballs - especially the little kid sized ones. Nike is having a sale on size 3 pink and black basket balls for 3.98 each.....shipping is free! Marti will have two coming in the mail for her next week
Here's the link: Nike Mini Basketball
have to go back and catch up reading a little at a time. Doc says eyes and headaches will take some time to heal. And will get worse before before they get better. I just feel so lost being unable to read! I meet with the head of the Radiology Dept who is in charge of thre Gamma Knife at my cancer center next Weds. I'll get zapped the flowing week. Only need to treated one time woo-hoo!
Good Night Ladies........
Love to all of you dear friends 💜

Shep good to see you posting, I hope your wonky eyes improve each day. I am little sore and uncomfortable tonight and I'm having a hard time sleeping. I'm surprised by the amount of bruising I have, especially from the fat grafting . I'm sure things will start to turn around next week.
Yes my dd dog is part Rotti and lab, she is a tad overweight and is on a diet. We took her a few of near new stuffies from our other dogs and some balls, she really took to the stuffies.
Hope everyone's feeling fine and has a pain free week ahead. LIta and Mags thinking of you

Where does the time fly? Just looked at the date and realized in 11 days will be 4 yrs. since my biopsy and the 27th will mark 4 yrs. since I heard the dreaded diagnosis.

Mommy- congrats on making it to 4 years. I remember when they started talking about the whole "five year" thing, including how long I would have to take the AIs, it felt like forever. I am heading towards my 5 year cancerversary later this year, and will be done with the AIs next March. It has all gone very fast.
I am glad you are doing well friend!

I know Jazzy, it seems like it was only yesterday when I started this crappy journey. Can't wait until I hit the 5 yr. mark myself!!!!!

Susan: wow. Yes, definitely live, and love, to the fullest.

Sadly, I probably won't make it to 5 years with all my Stage 4 mets, right from the gate.
BUT THAT'S TOTALLY OK...TERMINAL CANCER...CHECK, ALREADY GOT IT, MY DUDE!

Hi everyone, I've been reading, but haven't taken notes so won't remember everyone personally.
Loverly, thank you for the Dr Mike pic. LOVED it. I sure could use his help!!
Lookie, You had exchange and FG at same time, right? I read you have a lot of busing from the FG...how's your pain?
Thinking of everyone who is struggling.
Shep, I'm so sorry for your hospital experience. I've been thinking of you so much!! Healing hugs!!!
February was such an intense month for me with work and lots of appointments for my kids. I'm having a hard time balancing my time and energy. But, I want to share a happy story, and I'll bold it for Shep. My DS is taking a 10th grade PE class this term, and a week ago at conferences the PE teacher talked to me about having DS join the high school track team. He said my son is so nice that he will have a good influence on others, and it could be a really good experience for him, plus he's a good runner. So, this boy who was 1 lb 13 oz at birth, did not talk until he was 5 years old, and is very delayed, has been asked to join the school track team. Practice starts in just over a week, so I've been scrambling to get medical release forms signed, talking to a coach, etc. Of course, I'm excited, but also freaking out. This means DS will have very little supervision for over 2 hours. (He receives some adult assistance during school.) He'll have about 1/2 hour after school when he will need to change his clothes and have a snack before getting to the track. I know the coaches will watch out for him, but they'll be managing over a hundred kids. Tomorrow I'm shopping for work out clothes. I'm told they will be outside even in the cool weather. Special Olympics basketball goes through the 26th, so DS will be one tired boy for a couple weeks!
Blessings to all!

Susan kudos to you, you set an example to all of us.
Wildtulip I am sore and uncomfortable from the fat grafting , but the pain is not bad. It's just uncomfortable getting up and down or twisting around. I'm able to walk for some exercise , cook, but no baths.
Wonderful news on your son making the track team, he must be very proud of himself

WildT: it is such a wonderful news on DS. You should be a proud mom! Thanks for sharing!
Susan: 15 years on stage IV and still going strong! You are an iron woman! I read that you are still on chemo, just wonder since you are ER+, why haven't you gone thru any AI treatment ?
Lita: you are so positive and happy. Love your "smiling face" ;-) and the t-shirt! Hope your shoulders keep improving and you can do high 5 soon.
ShepK: glad to know your surgery went thru fine, hope you are feeling better every day, and your vision returns to normal soon.
Hi and goodnightto all owelettes.

wildtulip, yeah for son...that is so,cool. Please keep us updated
Eeyore, 15 years total. 10 were stage 3. Last 5 have been stage IV. I was er positive. Hormone therapy for 10 years. Then I became hormone refractory. Cancer used hormone meds as food. Took off like wild fire. 40 plus lymph nodes, spine, lungs, ribs. That was 5 years ago. Been on chemo since, no other options right now. My body is holding up well, fifteen years is a long time on cancer medicine. I am very proud of my liver and kidneys 😜
Shepppppssss, hope you are feeling better
Lookie, no baths!!!!!!! How can one survive . Baths help my aches and pains. I would cry like a baby if I had to lay off for awhile😥
Happy Sunday to all
Queenie, how is school going ?

WildTulip: how wonderful for DS! (that the coaches recognized the combination of 'nice' and 'varsity-level running ability')
Susan3 school is going 3/4 fine, 1/4 slightly AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaI'm in overmyhead, so far it isn't even funny. I'm taking three business classes, one computer--"Routing and Switching". Guess which one's giving me trouble? But I wouldn't have had it otherwise, as it's the computer class which I'm finding most enjoyable, engaging and educational.

Hi everyone! I'm baaaack! I've been gone for awhile as we have very limited internet access. My DH has been doing online college the past several months so I had to give up my daily dosage of BCO so he could get his school work done. He's finished for a while... I hope!
I got thru chemo with flying colors after the first month or two being so rough. My Oncologist said I turned out to be a very boring chemo patient... I'll take comments like that all day long! I get to see all of my chemo nurses every 5 weeks to have my port flushed, we have a great time catching up with each other. After being part of my family for so long I'm sure I'll continue to drop in and say hi to all the girls.
I'm starting week 3 of 6.5 weeks of radiation tomorrow, so far so good. Crossing my fingers radiation goes as well as chemo did. I love all the techs that take care of me during my radiation treatments. My radiation doctor Dr Wu is fantasic too lol
It's going to take me some time to catch up but I'm going to jump in here feet first and get myself up to date as well as I can. I'm looking forward to being part of this wonderful group of people once again!

I'm so happy to see you back Lori. I was worried about you!!!! Welcome back

Hi Lori- welcome back!

good luck with rads Lori
Queenie, I bow to you for going back to school. If I needed to hide from people, school would be the place to go...no one would ever think to look for me there😏

Welcome back, Lori! We like to hear that we are boring patients, don't we? I was, the first time around, too. Oh well.
WildT, I can hear your heart bursting with pride over your DS. What an awesome testimony to the job you've done bringing him up!
Susan, you failed to mention that 5 years from stage 4 dx is still pretty impressive. Most only get 2-3 years. It was quite a wake up call to me when MO said that without tx I'd have 4-6 months, tops. Whoa Nelly.
Queenie, my mom got a bachelor's in social work at age 65 and went back to work. She'd only had a hs diploma. You've got this. What degree are you going for? If any.
Shep, are you able to get some rest while you recuperate? Hoping so.
I'm in between naps right now, seem to be sleeping an awful lot. Can't shake the cough & congestion, and the acid reflux keeps hanging on as well. Fortunately no more N&V since Tuesday. And I took a leap and asked cousin for spaghetti last night, though I ate about half what I normally do, and had a bit more today sometime. Keeping up with the acidophilus and probiotics. My left jaw has been acting up again, I still have a tiny bit of emla cream which really relieves the pain. I'll ask doc for more tomorrow when I call to tell them I've been a bad girl and not called 911 when my temp has hit 100.5 like I was told to, and that it's because the ER is the ghetto of the hospital, they can't access a vein without blowing it out, and no one's ever taught them to access a port, and I've never been there less than 6 or 7 hours, and that's when it's not busy. So if they want me at a hospital, they just need to admit me. And that is that.
And Lita, I am stealing that picture! I love it!
*waving at the ones I missed*

Well done you Wenchie. Nearly done! Here's to onwards and upwards!

mags, I was shocked when I found out most don't access ports. I think at this point right now, I could access my port . Spaghetti sounds good. Quiennie's husband makes the best !
Morning all. Hope everyone feels better today.
I went to sleep at 6 last night. That felt good. Bailey wasn't as happy, so at midnight we were throwing the ball in the backyard. Then back to bed. I have a long work day today
My hubby got a new job...yeahhhh. Starts the 21st of this month. I could quit my job now if I want to....not sure what to do. Maybe I will first cut back more and just work one day....
Happy Monday:)
Chevster, is your breathing better?
0 -
Lori: yes, "boring" is the way to be!
Mags: yeah, I wouldn't want to go to the ER either, and ours isn't bad, for an ER department. Small town's are good for something!
As for my educational goals, it's either stop at what this community college has to offer me (combination of computers and business) or pole vault into a graduate program elsewhere (probably a variant on MBA) if I can figure out how to pay for it, and what to do with it when I'm done. (I have a masters in library science, but don't care to go back to library work.)
Susan3: spaghetti--everyone's favorite comfort food! But glad it's not me whom Puppy Bailey's getting up for Ball at midnight.

Listening to all the problems accessing ports. We had a client who had been a heroin addict. He said it was all he could do to watch them approaching the vein at the wrong angle. He wanted to yank it out of their hand and do it himself. When they ask me if my veins are hard to hit, I lie like a rug and say no. The actual record is 2.5 hours with everyone in the hospital taking a turn. The blood bank does OK though. I figure they're going to do a better job if they feel confident.
Mags, I agree with your assessment of the ER. The only way to be seen right away is to arrive in an ambulance, sirens going, and heart symptoms. Otherwise, it's back of the long long line.
