INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Back in 2012 when I had a ruptured appendix and was in the hospital for 8 days, I had two IV's, one for high doses of anti-B's and the other for fluids. I remember one person coming in to change one of the needles and jabbed at me many times until I demanded someone else. I will never forget how black and blue my left hand was, even in my morphine stupor. Hospitals are scary places......

Hi gals.... Jazzy, I remember (kind of) when I was about 14.... So sick one day, then worse at night.... Then I remember that sharp pain going across my lower stomach.... The next morning I could hardly move, but the pain was better. They had a Doctor come over, he pushed on my stomach, and thought right away I had appendicitis...
They finally took me in.... surgery, and they told my folks I only had 50/50 chance of making it.... It was serious THEN in 1951 ! I can't imagine anyone having it now-a-days....!
I was only in Hospital for a week..... I remember my Mom stopping to buy me a sweater-set that I liked... At that time, I just didn't care about MOVING much less shopping somewhere.... but she also fixed me cream of Asparagus soup.... my favorite.... Funny the things you remember!
Wish you guys would quit going to the Hospital! Hope you all are doing better!
Yes Susan, I CAN breathe better.... Still do the Nebulizer a couple times a day though.... Sooooooo windy here today! I went out at 6:30 this morning, when it was 45 degrees out... I was shoveling dirt around in my big pots, adding compost.... But THEN all of a sudden, this WIND came up, the temp dropped to 32, and I went in the house! Some storm up in the Mountains, with high-winds HERE! Oh well.... Supposed to be nice out this week....
If it could only just STAY Spring!

That was my other guess, but could not think of the name at the time. Yes, I have heard they are very smart.
Forward, I woke up in the middle of the night and realized I forgot to ask you how you are doing? Pain better? I am not sure if I want fat grafting now. I have an indented spot near the armpit. Right now I try not to look at it.
Mag, hope your chemo week is not too brutal to you.
Mommy, we have tricky weather here too. OHotos from a few days ago.
It is supposed to be in the 70's the next 5-6 days. Hate it when I put away the winter clothes and then the cold front comes in.

Good to hear from so many of you. Hoping the sisters in treatment are having a reasonable week.
The weather here in NM is spring like again and temps up to the 70s here in north central NM. The fruit trees are in bloom, which is common in early March and see the beginning of my weeping cherry starting to do it's blooming thang. I am so anxious to plant some pansies, but still a bit too early for that. So I am doing some yard clean up, dead growth pruning, etc. so things have some room to pop up and grow.
I am off to Denver later this weekend through most of next week on business and will pop in again when I am back!

It's been confirmed more snow on Tuesday. How much remains to be seen

Lover, did you say cold front? At 70? LOL. How's the family? Hope your mom and dad are well. Need another pic of your beautiful niece.
Shep, hope your recovery is coming along nicely.
Lori, welcome back! You were greatly missed missed.
Susan, wow 15 years. You're a true example of strength. Yay to your hubby getting a new job. Elena is soooo cute. She looks like a very happy baby. Bailey is adorable.
WildT, so happy for your son, and you. What a testament to your raising him that the coaches say he will be a good influence on his teammates. How is your DD doing?
Wren, did you say 2 1/2 hours it took for the hospital staff to find a vein? I would have started running for the exit. My brother was a phlebotomist and was aghast at several bruises I had because of blood draws. Said that should never happen and that there was no excuse for not getting the vein properly.
Junie, you've been quiet. Hope all is well with you and that you've just been busy with life in general. How is Kirby? You should be getting him soon, yes? Miss hearing about his antics.
Chevy, I can relate to the appendix story. Was coming home from Norfolk, Va up I-95 and started having pain. My dad was trying to go over the speed limit but our car would shimmy. My mom had stayed behind because a relative had passed away. Doctor came to the house and said I needed to go to the hospital. He thought is was my appendix but couldn't feel it. Thank goodness for blood work. By the time my surgeon got to it, it was ready to burst. Apologized to me for giving such a large scar. Said he had to do it so the appendix had enough room to be extracted so it wouldn't touch the surrounding area and break open. My cousin had a burst appendix. Took a year for her to recover.

Tomorrow is the end of week #3 for radiation and I'm starting to get pink and sore. Bring it on!
Back to catching up on everyone!
Hugs to all!

Kath, I was just thinking about you and was going to ask how you are doing? Dad will have an MRI next week and will see neurologist at the end of the month. He is back to driving around and visiting his friends. He can't sit still which is good. Mom is out of the valley of darkness the last two weeks which is also wonderful. She has insomnia at times and that is when it hits her. She will go through weeks not wanting to do anything because of "migraines". Thank you for asking. How is your DH( hopefully, not FFH)? Any more episode? Did he go in to see doc?
Feline,so I have potential😃? I sent your beautiful pictures and other ladies' posts and pics to our Patty this afternoon. Waiting for her permission to share what she shared. She is going through very emotionally draining time 😢
Hi Susie, good to see you. How are you and Amanda doing?
Jazzy, have a productive and safe trip to Denver. Wil you be visiting Ms. Chevy?
I was so famished yesterday evening. Ate 3 bowls of soup and several slices of Ciabatta bread with butter(yum). I even finished DD2's left over 2 hours later.....and I wonder why I have been gaining weight Will see my PC doc tomorrow for this stubborn headache I have on and offfor 3 weeks. Thank God that it is not excruciating, just dull and right on the left top. Occasionally, I get it on the back of my head near the neck. Can't seem to shake this sinus thingy either. I am usually not sick this long. Hopefully, it is a secondary sinus infection. So annoying.

Loverly- unfortunately, no time for personal visits during my time in Denver. Only there a few days (days around it are driving up and back) and my schedule is packed with meetings, including lunches and dinners with my partners.
Chevy dear, would love to catch you another time when I am up there and have a bit more free time

Susan love your pictures. I do miss my dog, but we want to do some traveling now. I had my first bath today, I never wait as long as they say , even had them with drains in.
Wren the anesthesiologist I had last week left me with a five inch bruise on my arm. On her first try she hit a vein and there was blood everywhere, I don't know if I have ever had a more painful IV insertion. She was a lovely person , but.needs some procedural training.
Loverly I don't usually talk on the boards about problems or pain, I don't want to scare anyone . This is day 10 and I'm doing pretty good, I was even on the floor in a yoga child pose. I'm still sore but it is not bad at all. the breast I had reduced is still quite sore. I have lost a lot of my core strength and need to work on that over the next few months. I hear you about weight, I have put weight on around my middle, I don't know if tamoxifen is the problem or just aging. I do walk and jog (slowly), I want to move my steps up to 15,000 to 20,000 per day. Good news about your dad.
I got an e-mail last weekend , saying the biopsies they took during surgery came back showing no cancer. This was the first time I knew that biopsies had been taken , but I was very glad they werebeing pro-active.
Lori good luck with the radiation, I hope you don't get anything more then pink skin. Are you feeling tired?
Shep thinking of you, hoping you feel better . I don't know how to enlarge the font on my iPad for you

Hooty hoo Patty and everyone!
Lookforward, thank you 😊 I felt like I'm being cooked from the inside out last night for a few hours but it went away thank goodness. My treatment today was canceled due to the machine being down. Makes me wonder if there was something up with it yesterday and why I hurt so much all at once and then the pain was gone? I'm very tired. I had a months break between chemo and rads and I was feeling pretty good, then back to tired. This to shall pass

Oh my goodness, Lori. Ouchie!! Hopefully, your burn is not from the malfunction machine.
Happy Birthday, Susan!
Can you find my finger? Ha!

Hey gals! Kath.... sorry about YOUR appendicitis! I never had a problem until that one night, then they ruptured the next morning. The pain was much better after that, but I was so "out of it".... I mean even more than usual.... In THOSE days, I was lucky to have survived I guess.... They said I only had 1/2 a chance.... Did you have to wear this thick tubing in your stomach? For it to drain after you went home? When they pulled it out, it had started to grow to things in there! MY GOD it hurt! But yes, the scar was always very long.... That's okay.... I never was one for a bikini anyway.... Hah!
Lori, I remember even though I had internal radiation with that Mammosite Device, I was so tired for that week that it lasted.... twice a day.... Just knocks you out!
Now PEPPERMINT! You are still feeling puny??? Can you come over and I'll fix you a hot cup of Ginger,Lemon, and Hyacinth tea with Honey? It will perk you right up. Wish I could do more for you....How are the boys?
Happy Birthday Susan!
