lover, yep, she will be a handful. Babysat yesterday, didn't realize taking food out of her mouth was a no no. She had a breakdown...but she didn't choke!! She understands me....but I don't understand her...so she whines cause I don't know what she wants. It's soooo funny, cause when I ask her something she shakes her head no and yes at the same time.....got a few months for her brain and her actions to work together...they grow so fast

Lori, so glad your skin is doing better. Rads help tremendously but there is that downside we all have to put up with. We're all so much stronger than we think we are, so I know you'll get thru this.
Hope you'll be able to sleep better as this improves 😃.

Susan I love seeing pictures of your dogs and your GD. How are the dogs getting along? They look happy.
Lori I had a rough time with radiation that started after I finished treatment. I also had some dark skin and moist desquamation. After two weeks I was fine. I did look like a marshmallow with all the cream I applied. My dark discolored skin has improved over time, butit doesn't hurt to get it looked at.
Loverly could your headaches be caused by seasonal changes,I have headaches in the spring in fall. I am seriously jealous of your spring pictures.
Mags I hope you get relief for you pain.
Shep good news, no headaches or nausea, fingers crossed that was your last gamma knife operation . it's too bad about the fatigue. Are you able to get outside for some fresh air?

Junie, I got my implants back in Dec, and this surgery will be fat grafting. Just part of the reconstruction..looking for some symmetry. So glad Kirby seems to be doing well.

Poppy, Sorry about your dad.
Loverly, How's your head? I don't follow a specific diet plan, but I am aware of anti inflammatory foods and incorporate them into my days. I'm sure if/when I do a nutrition program this summer I'll learn even more about ways that would benefit me!

Hello to everyone I missed.
Brief update on ex-H..he has apologized for how things went when I met his gf and then this AM we actually had a lengthy discussion about the situation. I think it was the most adult conversation we had ever had. (He's not exactly emotionally aware.)
Today I had pre-op with PS for fat grafting..I love my surgeon. I can say and ask him anything and he's so patient and really wants to give me good results.
I think in my last, or recent, post I mentioned my fatigue and how much sleep I was needing. That will teach me..haven't slept well for 3 days. LOL So off to try to catch some zzz's.

Poppy - Sorry to hear that your Dad passed. So Glad your little Gus is on the mend. Any idea what could have caused the puncture? Kirby will be home in 16 days. Yeah! Then my work begins, cause it will be my turn to be trained to work with him. His trainer came and got my 2 wheel walker and is teaching Kirby to walk beside it and not pull or walk in front of it.
Shep - I am glad to see your post and that you are doing pretty well. I look forward to the day you tell us that your vision is improving.
I went for my treatment on Tuesday and my MO told me that since I am doing well, I don't have to see her every month anymore. I'll still have treatment monthly, but see the MO every other month. It is hard to explain, but while I am ok with seeing the MO less often, but it is also kind of scary too. Scary as in it somehow feels less secure. Weird I know. I guess I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Do we ever get past that?
Wren - Your adventure to Mt. Rainer sound like fun. Do you have pics to share?
Sensi - I hope you find a job that you find more satisfying.
Feline - What do you do in your volunteering job? I went to the place I volunteer on Monday and was told by the Coordinator that she has resigned and will be leaving at the end of the month. This is the second Volunteer Coordinator that has left in the 4 years I've been there. I'm thinking it might be time for me to make a change myself. Not sure what I'd do, but maybe I'll just focus on Kirby's training and then start with taking him to the Children's Hospital or a Convalescent Facility.
Wenchi - Glad your Rads are coming to the end. Even if you don't use the pain meds before driving home, you certainly could use them once you get home couldn't you? I hate to think you are suffering needlessly.

Hi everyone, the skin in my radiated armpit has broken open. Any and all suggestions appreciated. My RO said to continue with the A&D ointment and it's just making it worse. I'm going to request something better from him tomorrow.

Lori sorry to hear this, I used wellskin glaxal-base moisturizing lotion. This was the only cream recommended by radiologist. Unfortunately it will take a little time to heal. I feel for you.

Lori, I had the same issue, my open wound was about 12" wide by 3" high. My RO rxed silvadene, but only for use on weekends. During the week I could slather on the Aquaphor or calendula and there was another cream they could sell me but I elected not to buy; I tried their sample and it did not seem cost effective. One thing I will say is, do not use any kind of adhesive tape anywhere near your would site, as it will pull the upper layers of skin right off. Curad makes the 4" square telfa pads (they won't stick to the wound) and they have a variety with adhesive strips on two sides. This adhesive does not tear the skin. Buy lots, you won't regret it. I also invested in some cheap men's undershirts as it can get weepy. I'd show you my pics but you'd be grossed out. It took about 3 weeks pfr for the wound to close. I had 36 doses.
Junie, we have a sweet Maltese at our clinic, Sarahbelle, everyone loves her. Her mom brings her around every week.
Had a follow up with ENT I saw last fall for swallowing issues,he looked at my jaw and seems to think I could have osteonecrosis of the jaw , from chemo, rads, or both. The hits just keep on coming

Oh Lori, I am sorry. That sounds painful. I didn't have radiation treatment, but I would consider asking for silvadene cream (unless you are allergic to sulfa) to prevent infection.

Hi Junie Good luck with working out what is the best use of your time. I do some volunteer coding classes for children, I collect for Saint Vincent de Paul (charity) when the national appeal is on, I am also secretary of two clubs.
Belated Happy St. Patricks Day to everyone. It is often a surprise to people when I tell them that in Ireland there is no special food associated with St Patrick's Day. (The corned beef and cabbage is an American St P tradition).
DD is dancing in a show last weekend and this coming weekend so a busy time, spent last weekend in the theatre and same for this weekend. Love to all.

Don't know if this has happened to anyone else but I feel as if I am the only one!!!!!! My hubby knows that I have wanted to see Phantom of the Opera for a very long time. Last Fall it was announced by our local theater that it was going to be coming there sometime this Fall. So I have been checking off and on to see if they had the dates finally set for when it was going to be there with no results. Last night I checked again and I saw that one of the days it will be showing is on my birthday. I said "Holy Cow! Phantom's going to be showing on my birthday!" My hubby said he wondered how much the tickets were going to be and so I went to check and found that they were not on sale yet. So when I told him, he didn't say nothing and I felt like I was getting the big brush off over it. I didn't say a word to him and left the room to put dinner away and then to go do other things. The whole time the resentment just kept building and I kept muttering to myself silently over the whole thing. So when I finally went to sit down he looked right at me and asked if there was something wrong. My response was "Nope! Why should there be?" He kept pushing until I blew up and told him exactly what was wrong. He told me to keep checking on when the tickets were on sale because I may get to see it finally!!!!!!!!!!!!! So needless to say I feel like an idiot now over something so stupid.

Mommy, silly you. Men don't read mind. From what you have shared, DH sounds like a wonderful caring guy minus the wining when he is sick 😃 He seems like a guy who provides for his family and loves to spoil his wife.
Edit: I wanted to share that during my youth Iexpected my DH to read my mind too , so you are not alone.

Thank you for all your experiences with radiation peeling. I woke up this morning with no skin in my armpit, at all! It's so gross! I had a nurse look at it when I went in for my treatment and she couldn't believe what she was seeing. She had my RO come look also, he said the same thing. He said us women give them problems with this situation when it gets warm out and we sweat more. He'd never seen it happen so fast before. When he checked my skin on Tuesday everything looked really good and now it's just gone. He gave me a silvadine script, some telfa pads and recommended I get some white t-shirts to wear until it heals andto expect it to get worse before it gets better. Just 4 more treatments to go!

Lover, he is the best thing that ever happened to me and our furbabies. Don't know what I'd do without him. At times I have this irrational feeling as if he is either ignoring me or he's up to something and I am letting my imagination get away. Yep, sometimes I am really jumping to conclusions.

Lori, so sorry that your going through this. Was lucky not to have had to go through rads, only chemo. Stinks when my favorite gals are in pain or dealing with nasty side effects.

Mommy, thank you 😊 It still gets to me that at the time of my diagnosis I was told by my BS that there would be no chemo or rads needed but here I am! Almost done! 🤞

Mag, OUCH! My RO prescribed silvadene and gave me some 6" telfa pads and I picked up some t-shirts. He told me to no longer use any other ointments from now on. I can slather it on over the weekend as much as I'd like but not to use it before my treatments but it's ok once I get home.
Mommy, I did the same thing when I was younger. Now I know the "look" that I get if he's 2 steps ahead of me, he usually is. It only took me 28 years to learn his "technique" and we've been married for 32 years. I'm a slow learner! My DH took me to see Phantom of the Opera when we love vex in San Antonio Texas a lifetime ago. I like cubit and I think you will love it too!
