In fairness, I ended up getting A LOT of help; the school has a tutoring center, but in summer it's staffed largely by other students (not sure what the regular school year's like). They decided to call in the big guns, after they saw [veteran] and me wrestling with the subject: a semi-retired business professor who likes keeping his hand in....and of course, I'm the only one who showed up most days.

She who shows up gets what is, in effect, private tutoring. And worms. And some nice chats with a decidedly interesting man.

A GOOD MORNING to all on this side of the earth. Happy Fourth!!!

Awww Feline, what a treat! Love the smiles. I see that you like 🐬. DD1 loves dolphins too.

Queenie, not surprised you got an "A"....smartypants. It is interesting to connect with someone who has gone through the same struggle. I hope that veteran has the help he needs for the PTSD. And I also hope yours is only temporary.

Ms. Sas, I think I am recovered from the time difference. Had to go back to work two days after we got home and it wasn't too bad. Jet lag coming back from Asia is worse because the time difference is 15 hours. Hate it when I had to wake up in the middle of he night starving and couldn't go back to sleep. It took me at least a week to recover from my last trip to Asia, whereas with this trip I had two or three days of internal clock confusion.

I saw this ad in one of the magazines on British Airways: image

    Thought it was amusing.

It is nice to be home. I wish we had more time at each port of call. A day is not enough. You need at least a week to explore. I would love to go back and learn more about their cultures. My favorite is Aarhus, Denmark because the people were so warm and welcoming (not that the people in the other places weren't). It's a beautiful old city, but there were a lot of young folks living there. It is the home to the largest Scandinavian university. We met a young PHD student on the bus on our way to Moesgaard museum and had a good chat with him. It is such a treat when you get an opportunity to talk with the locals. Most people use public transportation there in addition to cycling. I find that the Scandinavian countries are very cyclists friendly. They have huge designated lanes for the cyclists. Didn't see anyone wearing helmets. Seemed safe. The only thing the cyclists have to worry about are us clueless tourists using their lanes as walk way . Ha

Forgot to mention what DD2 decided to do with the 500 Danish Krone ($75)she found in Copenhagen, Denmark. She spent 5 Krone on ice cream. And at the end of our cruise, she decided to give the remaining to our waiter (who gave us excellent service) in addition to what we had already given him. We told him it's for his kids (3 and 6) whom he only gets to see every 7 months for 4 weeks. So proud of her.

Loverly: love the "fistful of ice cream" photo. I'd so be with that.

As for the veteran, it sounds like he is getting help, though often that means driving to Chicago (we're in SW Michigan) to the nearest VA with the facilities for treatment. Different temperaments and backgrounds, different precipitating cause for the PTSD, but it was interesting to see our similarities. Still working on mine!

Loverly, Looks like a wonderful place to visit.

Feline & Zills - Such a beautiful pic of you both. You're very fortunate to have the chance to meet.

Wenchie - Your bale garden look awesome. I bet the tomatoes and cukes will taste divine.

Queenie - Yay! to you for earning that A.

Loverly - What a sweet thing for DD2 to do for that waiter. She obviously has a very kind heart. Yum! the ice cream looks delicious. Glad you've had an easier time re-acclimating to our time zone.

Really neat pics. Everything shows how tidy the locals like to keep their environment.

I am having a lazy day today. Did too much yard work (as usual) yesterday, but things are looking better. Will be meeting a friend this evening to watch the local fireworks display.

Sensi - How is Chance doing?

Feline was "She who shows up catches the worm (or something like that Nerdy)for me as the "She" Hahahahahahah. "She" as a nickname sucks". Very few names can't be made into many nicknames. Alas, mine was one.

Popping in to wish you all a wonderful 4th of July. 4 more days and I'm on vacation for a whole week with friends. My treat to myself, for my "chit" year last year.

Looking forward to our lunch Friday ladies.

    Hope everyone else is well.

Happy 4th Y'all! I know I'm late for east coast - belated happies.........

    Greetings to our new owlies!

Eeyore ~ so glad you answered our "call". Don 't worry about those balloons pulling your tail off. I'll keep looking up to catch you if you fall ~ promise! Blessings to you and your loved ones. (((hugs)))

Queenie ~ Awesome grade! Yay you! Although I am concerned about the worms thing.....visions of bum dragging across the carpet....... 😵

Sassy ~ Yes! Gloves! Soooo gross strangers pawing through your luggage after touching Lord only knows what. The last time I flew, the security people went through my suitcase and ate half a package of unopened cookies I had packed. Needless to say I tossed 'em out.

MammaRay ~ Hoping you got to have a nice 4th with DS and DH. Keeping you close in thought and prayer.

Feline ~ I agree - you and Zils could easily pass as sisters. You both look lovely!

Wren ~ How is Sir Squeakers? Is he having to share you with anymore fosters? Love reading your kitty stories 😺

Sensi ~ Don't wear yourself out before your vacation! Only four more days? Woo-hoo! Between the vet and Sas, it sounds like you've gotten some good information and advice. Gentle ear lovin's to Chance - those ears look soo soft

Wenchie ~ Cool garden pics! How do you keep the critters from making raids? We have apple and pear trees. The raccies always get to apples before we can. Then they move onto the pears. The pear trees are big. One night last summer there were at least 3 mommas and dozen babies up in the branches. They were adorable. Is your little guy still napping in the green flower box on your porch? If he outgrows it you'll have to get him a bigger one!

Junie, junie, Junie...... You are just as bad if not worse than Sensi. Slow down girl! Gosh, you two make me tired just thinkin' about all the stuffs you do. How were the fireworks? Did you bring Kirby? Marti hates the sound of fireworks. This is the first year she wasn't upset by all the booms. Benefit of her old lady hearing 😛

Posting this before I lose it....

Shep - Yes, I just got home and I did take Kirby. The silly dog is terrified of the vacuum, but not one flinch during the fireworks. He just sat there like nothing out of the ordinary was happening. I suppose this is a good thing though.

I had done some power washing on Saturday and ended up having severe muscle cramps all night from my knees to my hips in both legs. Muscle relaxers, ice packs, nothing helped. I seriously was concerned that the cramps might dislocate my right hip. That is how bad they were.

Goodnight to All. Hoping you all had a enjoyable July 4th.

JunieB ~ Kirby is such a good boy! Marti used to upset by the vacuum cleaner. She was afraid it would suck her toys up. Once she she realized the toys were too big to pass into the hose, she started bringing them TO the vacuum. She would let the it suck onto the toy, pull it off, put back on, pull it back off.....It got to be difficult to clean the house with her constantly shoving balls and stuffed animals in the way. Silly girl. Now we have a robot vac; she doesn't like that at all!

Hoping your legs and hips give you some rest tonight and feel better in the morning. And you give your legs and hips some rest tomorrow! Now close your eyes and have sweet dreams and do not look at my next post. Gottta keep our Loverly entertained with her hunky felllas..............

Dear Loverly shared her wonderful pictures of her incredible vacation. I would be remiss were I not to share some pictures for her to enjoy. The new gals may not know this, but she does have a certain (u-hum) taste in men.

Shep: gee thanks, you made me snort tea out of my nose. What's seen can't be unseen. Or unthought--I didn't get that kind of worms--no bum-across-the-carpet for me. Rather, the nice juicy worms that robins are pecking around for.

Shep, Squeakers is doing fine. His vet pronounced him a healthy boy (especially nice since he's FIV+). We heard an episode about whales on the radio. That's what he sounds like! We still have Chewey. He has been promoted from fospice to adoptable and will be posted as soon as I can get a couple of good photos. He's 15 but he's a real lap cat and people are looking for those. The people who brought him to the shelter found him outside hanging around their house. Since coming here, he has showed almost no interest in going out. Maybe once was enough.

Shep, my raccoon still sits in his green planter on most nights. I'll definitely get him a bigger one when he needs it. The possum I started feeding marshmallows to just comes in the house if your not fast enough with the handouts. I bet she'd take off with the bag if I didn't have a good grasp on it. I had to close the patio curtains to help keep the bugs out the other night and the possum just flung the curtains aside and came in and got her marshmallows. I wish I had gotten it on video!

I came home from visiting my hubby's parents to find the tomato worms munching out on my tomato plants! I went over all of the plants with a fine toothed comb and squashed all of them that I found. My big healthy Eary Girl tomato has been reduced to twigs with 5 nice sized tomatoes on it. I'm not sure it'll come back but it'd be nice if it did.

We had a fun time in Peoria with Stu's family. His mom is fading fast. She has stage 4 lung cancer and I'm not sure how much longer she has. She's dropped down to about 90 lbs and is very weak but she still gets around pretty well. We had to cut our lunch with her short as she wasn't feeling to well. We'll go back for the Hutchinson reunion on August 5th. Anyone in the Peoria IL area want to meet up? That would be awesome!

BBS I'm trying to catch up with everyone!

Aw Geez!! Can't believe you are in cahoots with Shep, Junieb.

Shep, you ought to be careful posting such hunkiness. You nearly caused Queenie to have aspiration pneumonia from all the excitement. And vision of dragging the butt across the carpet? Yuck 🤢 We do really need to check your forehead temperature. Just like Feline, I was thinking about a different kind of worms.

Junieb, ouchie! We got to rethink "do now and pay later". Wonderful that Kirby was not scared of the fireworks. Mitzy was a bit antsy, but wasn't too bad. We tried not to react. Heard a few illegal fireworks and those were the ones that caused Mitzy to pace around. Believe it or not she can sleep through a thunderstorm.

Lori, sorry to hear about your MIL. Tomato worms...ewww.

Sensi, you deserve a break. I am excited for you. I really enjoyed Cancun and Cozumel. Will you be snorkeling? Do share pictures when you get a chance. How is your sweet boy? It will be sizzling this Friday.

Ms. Sas, are you on Facebook at the moment? I am getting notification on my phone. Ha! Haven't visited FB for awhile.

Thinking about LookingForward for some reason. Hope you are doing ok if you are reading. Thinking about my other lurking friends also Hug

Wenchi here we, that's a euphemism, actually it is DH grows toms in a poly tunnel. We often take some of the tomatos in early (green) and ripen them by putting them in a brown paper bag with a banana. It is not as lovely as pulling a ripe red delicious smelling tomato off the vine but it beats thinking you're about to pull a ripe red delicious smelling tomato off the vine only to find that it is an illusion, a shell, all hollowed out by some creature or other. It is a way of hedging our bets.

I had a client from the Ukraine who said his mother would put green tomatoes in his winter boots to finish ripening. It would be a warm snug space. Hope she didn't forget any, that would really be a mess.

Wren: did she wash the tomatoes before using them?

My biopsy results were NED; all that sublimation into accounting homework for nothing, but hey, I got an A and a friend out of it.

Lover - I would be more than happy to put my weight on the guy in the pic!

Queenmom - Kudos on the A in your Accounting class! I remember the studying days from college (Accounting Degree) and then after that for the CPA Exam.

Everyone is making me hungry for fresh tomatoes - when I was growing up, my uncle who lived next door had the family garden and used to bring us fresh tomatoes all the time. Yum!
