INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Still here,.
Will be taking Chance for his surgery consult tomorrow. See what the doc says. I've used a harness on him since I've had him, for 5 1/2 years. He wears a collar, but I don't use it with leash. Been feeling like a bad mamma, he hasn't been to the dog park in over a week. Don't want to over excite him, and no walks because of our heatwave last week. Will get better idea of what we can do tomorrow. He has tramadol prescribed to help sedate if he gets to exited or if he starts coughing. Hoping to get plan in place tomorrow. A little anxious as I've had a vacation in the works for the past year. Heading to Ixtapa, Mexico with friends....partially a "celebration" for getting thru a shitty year last year.
I'll give update on the boy tomorrow eve.
Hope everyone is well.

Thank you Wren44.
As I was attempting to post the pics. of Kirby my computer suddenly went completely black. Actually it shut off. So I move my foot around under the desk and what do I find, Kirby snuffling around down there and he had turned off the Power strip/Surge protector. Little Turkey!

Finally, sitting here on BA waiting to take off to SFO. When I presented my boarding pass earlier, alert red light came on as the my boarding ticket was scanned. " Come this way with me for a security search."...or something like that. Found out I was on the TSA bad list . Told the person searching me that this is my first time on the bad list. Ha! Glad they didn't find anything illegal in my hand bag.
Saw this at the Amsterdam train station. Almost took it home for souvenir.

Dsgirl and Mara---hi! Don't stay away too long or I might think you are new and welcome you
Dsgirl, which was your homeland? Denmark??
Ms. Sas, glad you didn't do major damage with the dog fall. What's a dog fall anyway? Dini or Schatzi made you fall or you tripped over them again?
Kirby...💕❤️💕💕
Lori, you actually look great with short hair. Just spike it a little bit and 👍
Mommy, how stressful with your new neighbors.
Oops plane is moving...taking off soon.

Was there really a bad list or are you just joking?

Not looking forward to the weekend, suspect it will be party central this weekend across the street at the new neighbor's house. Plus it don't help with people around here shooting off fireworks, upsets my poor furbaby Jackson something awful.

Loveroflife
Denmark is where I grew up, and will never visit again, no family left there.
Eons ago I was an insomniac so it has stayed in my favorites, alas, I am not much of a poster on any threads, just a reader, my bad. I am getting close to 8 years out from surgery, but can't seem to let go completely of BCO. Sassy kee[s me coming back.

Loverly & ShepK, thank you for sending balloons my way. ShepK, be careful that tail is tacked on, don't drop me. Sassy, thanks for the hello and I got your PM. I do need to come out for some air. Progression is not something I worry about. For almost 7 years my Onc and I finally agreed on what my diagnosis should be from the start: that I was stage 4 from the beginning. The chemo sapped my energy, other than that it is tolerable.
I chose eeyore as my avatar, because it is so opposite of me. But several events happened around me did put me in a crying meme mood today. BC diagnosis on a niece last Friday, 2 deaths news received today one of which is my SIL from ovarian cancer. I feel the dark clouds are above my head, and Saasy is right to call me out for some air. I will do it tomorrow but will keep hiding today! I will be ok tomorrow.

Sensi, Hope the consult went well.......But.....would rather talk by phone. Been through it. I had to calculate how old JB was, born in 1983. Problem time was 1996. So, 14......I think I sent you my phone number. ............The very hardest thing to do is calculate risk and benefit to outcome.. It sucks, but it must be evaluated.
Loverly is coming home YAY. Stopped. I would be stopped in a heart beat. I made so many waves in the early days. I was just such a "rights' person.
One right----gloves should be changed when asked when a bag was searched. The TSA guys wore gloves and used the same gloves from bag to bag. WHOA NELLY. I asked for a glove change. That caused a hornets response. " What are you trying to hide" Asked for a supervisor. Explained that whatever was a contaminant in the pervious bag was then transferred to my bag whithout a glove chabge. The supervisor then explained the rules only allowed for the TSA folks to wear gloves. My response was "what is the point of the gloves?" The guy said to protect the TSA people. My response was "How am I protected from transference of unknown stuff from a previous bag." They were befuddled. It wasn't in the rules. The rule was eventually changed. With this one we went to the TSA office and I wrote a letter. explaining the problem.
2nd right. A separated area had to be established for someone not wanting to walk around without shoes. I raised hell about the uncleanliness of the situation. That caused a area to be set up where they took me to a separate area and my shoes were taken back to be scanned. This first scenario thingy. They expected me to walk over and get my shoes. I said no, it's unclean. There was a conference of bosses. They then directed the officers l to bring me my shoes.
3. cigarette lighters, I was likely responsible for cigarette lighters being banned. Episode before the were negated. On this particular trip, I had a slew in the bottom of my purse. They got nervous. I was told I had to give them up except for one. I made a big deal about who would reimburse me for my property. They got a boss. It was a very strange conversation. There was no rule about surrendering lighters at that point. I gave in, but not without a verbal go around. I just wanted to bust his chops. I held them up to the light. They said what are you doing. I said I wasn't going to surrender a full one. They got all tense. What was funny, is I had a quart of Crown Royal they passed without question. DUH. Since, then alcohol was negated as a carry on.
I was such a serious bitch early on, abridgement of rights.
Now the whole world has changed b/c of terrorist.
Primo bitch Hahaha...............some get it.......others don't.
It's an age thing-----pre terrorism there was a different mind set.

Eeyore. Dear one, it makes me tear, what you had know idea from the beginning, only confirmed now, plus, many around you. Totally sucks. But this all sucks. No clue why any of it. The whole Karma thing when I hear it, or see it, makes me want to puke. AND I tell folks Karma doesn't exist. No one, I have ever known ever deserved a deadly disease.
How do we keep going. We work one day at a time. We walk one step at a time. We hope. We do. We think. We care about whatever we care about.
We try to keep believing that there is a reason for surviving. We hold that. We hold that tight. There will come a time when we say that there is a time to let go.
Till we reach the let go point, don't let go, enjoy. It may be vicariously, it may be in a Rocket-tub, it maybe in a beautiful forest.
Prayer or meditation can so soothe you. L&H&P's sheila

(((Eeyore))) I'm sorry to hear you've had a rough week. Good thoughts being sent your way.
Lover-welcome home! Are we still meeting for lunch the first week in July?
Sas-had consult today, left feeling that I'll proceed with the surgery mid-end July. Had questions written down, but know I didn't ask everything I should (still feel like I have fog brain at times)......damn chemo/tamoxifen/BC!!!!! As I'm home and am reading the summary profile, I know I need to research more.....ask more questions. Where the Vet said, if it were his dog, he would do the surgery, I have to do as you say, calculate risk and benefit to outcome. I'm going to try and copy and paste some info to you for tonight. Don't have your number. I'm heading to bed here in a few. I'll try and catch up towards the end of the week. Still have a double to do this week. I have time. Won't even consider surgery till towards end of July. My head is scrambled.
Waving hello to everyone else.

Arrived home yesterday evening. It was a challenge to drive 2.5 hours home from San Francisco airport with the jet lag. Had to tell myself to stay awake and not to curl up and fall asleep. Thank God for His protection. DH was snoring away along with DDs. This painting describes how we feel.....more likely how I feel today.

Feline, I named the list. Ha! You know I like to goof off. Not sure what the security people called it. That was in Heathrow London airport when that happened. I asked the guy who walked me to the person who did the searching and he told me that my ticket was flagged possibly because of similarity in the names. We do have bad apples among my peeps.
Eeyore, that is way too many bad news at one time for anyone to handle. I am sorry.
Celia, have a fun and safe trip.
Ms. Sas, you are such a trouble maker. I didn't think about the gloves. Yucks! Too late to sanitize my bag now.
Sensi, yes
It's Wacky Wednesday!

Sensi, I got your PM, I wrote a lot of stuff. Sorry I forgot my phone number. Your Vet sounds wonderful. Very thorough too. Just want to reinforce that info about looking at the thickener. It sounds awful, but I have seen patients that choke on ever mouthful or sip of water. Then with the appropriate amount of thickner, no choking. The way they determine the amount of thickner in humans is the speech therapist is right there and adds the thickner to the glass and the patient drinks while real time fluoroscopy is being done. Once their is no aspiration then a chart is made for the bedside with the instructions. I'll take a look to see if there is any dog info.
OHHHHH Celia Yay another traveler. On an old boat, what fun. Should have Wenchlori with you for that one aye matey.
Hi Tapper welcome here . Curious about your screen name? Kids? Furbabies? Guys/gals? Work? My screen name is me and my dog Schatz 10 y/o, one son Stephen 32 just married in Feb, He travels a lot too. I have a live in BF named Donnie. His nephew is living with us right now. Donnie's furbaby is Dini a lab pitt mix about 10-12. I'm retired b/c of the cancers, but doing great this year.
LOverly, delighted you are home safe and sound. Have a nice restful sleep. Hahaha, it's totally true about the gloves isn't it yucky thinking what could be in other peoples bags. Then add to that braindead TSA officers that are clueless of why they are doing something.

Sensi, I'm going to put this here and in a PM too you. I found this great article. citing the work of " Bryden J. Stanley, B.V.M.S., M.Vet.Sc, DACVS, associate professor of surgery, and her colleagues at Michigan State University suggest renaming the condition geriatric onset laryngeal paralysis polyneuropathy (GOLPP) to more accurately define the progressive disorder." It describes the history and present work being done by this group.
The thinking at present is that it is a genetic condition and that certain breeds are prone to it. Newfies and Labradors more often than the other breeds mentioned.
What is very gratifying for me is to know that 20 years ago there was the collar connection, but the current research does not support that. Reduces my guilt of all these years.
The article does mention about elevating bowl placement as I noted in my PM.
I contacted Michigan State at the number listed in the article and asked regarding the thin versus thickened liquid. The gal said that they have done research re: liquifying the food and then increasing the thickness up to kibbles using the realtime fluoroscopy. The gal wasn't sure that same work had been done on water.
At least at this point, there's a possibility that Dr Stanley will call me back b/c the question re: water was out of her range of reference.
What's great about this is Dr. Stanley has made this a major area of study for many years and will continue to do so for many more. Go figure I hit upon the unique person( the PRO) on the topic in the first article. Cool.

you are the best Sas! Chance and I thank you!! ❤️. Will read tomorrow, working my double today

Thanks, sas! I've been lurking and reading here but didn't post for a while. My screen name goes back to the days when my daughter (now 32) was little and I started taking tap dance lessons. I tapped for 13 years and sure do miss it. But the name has stuck. My DH had one cat when we got married (34 years ago) and we've always had at least one and as many as three; have two now - Xena and Lucy.
In the midst of reading about surgeries and rads and AIs, it's nice to read about travel and fur babies. It's inspiring to see how others deal with so many challenges. I've said it many times but it's true - this forum has been my lifeline. I don't know what I would have done without all of you.

Tapper oaky you are Tapper, it makes you happy. Always nice to be happy. A member named me sassy. I loved it b/c my maiden name initials were SAD. Totally sucked. It was nice when I got married my initials went to SAS, totally suited me. Then the FuzzyLemon nicked named me Sassy. Whew, I was in heaven.
A couple of decades ago, I read a sampler from a century or so ago that said " A child of many names is much loved" A sampler was a needlepoint and or a cross stitch. It was used to teach young girls the art. With my real name Sheila, you can't do much as far as nicknames. Always was a bummer. "She" Whoopee negative.
Whereas, take WenchLori, she's Wenchie or Lori, Loveroflife is Loverly. Sensiofheart is Sensi. Magdeline is Mags.
The point being is, by our nature we love endearments. By having a special name for someone, we say to them how dear they are to us. What does get confusing for anyone entering here, is we keep changing everyone's name. AND those here may love calling someone by their own endearment that no one else uses. Can be very confusing. I think I'm the only one that calls WenchLori I love the word Wenchie b/c I perceive strength out of it. Others may not . But it goes back to when I asked her the same question regarding her screen name and she gave her explanation.
Thank you for sharing your info. The best way to help our confused drug addled minds is to refer to each member by the name you choose to call them, and often, in time people will recognize that it belongs to that person. Plus, we are all into furbabies, and kids, referring to them often helps lots too.
Only this week I started to say my real name Sheila. Why after 8-9 years. Seemed right. Anonimity(sic) is important. But then dunno...............anywhooses made a change. Perfer sassy, it's much more fun.

Tapper your quote " I've said it many times but it's true - this forum has been my lifeline. I don't know what I would have done without all of you." Me either.

Sassy, wonderful analogy on our names of endearment. I love it!
Sensi, sending healing thoughts and prayers for our dear handsome boy Chance.
Lover, awesome example of use what you have in time of need lol
Here's an updated picture of my straw bale garden. As you can see it's an awesome success! I should be getting lots of tomatoes, peppers and cucs soon. Yummy!

(sleepily) Accounting class is done, and I got an A. Also good: parted on good terms with the veteran (Navy)--we sat next to each other and swapped PTSD symptoms.

Thank you; now back to my regularly scheduled program of computer classes. (New track in the Business program, plus an unexplainable interest in hardware and networking.)

Wenchie, glad you like the endearment analogy. It flashed when I saw that sampler. 1982 we had our first litter of pups. One pup was Moose aka as mooser, moose-moose, and moosie. Totally made sense. Made me dislike my name even more
Your garden looks fabulous. Do you can/preserve anything? Bake? Sell? I remember an old story about zuchhini, that it drove them nuts trying to find all the different ways to use zuchinni b/c of a bumper crop.
Loverly--rested yet?
Queenie, YAYand A. Quite nice since you so disliked the course
Shep why do dogs lay in the middle of the walk way?
Waving, Have a great weekend
