I think I earn a Master degree in undomesticated woman. Burned soup, burned boiled yam, and now burned stew with pressure cooking. Not aiming for PhD.

    Loveroflife, very funny

But I think I beat you because I killed live bamboo plant by using miracle grow.

And I could not cook corned beef. Did not defrost and put it in microwave

    Hi You guys! (gals)

Lover of Life - You are way to funny.  the slow cooker actually told you that you burnt your meal?  Hope you got a kiss out of it.  Pretty fancy machine - does it talk? It could have told you in a nicer way! (Darling, a little less drinking please)

Don't feel bad - I got an "F" in Home Ec in school.

Yup, did it again - should have gotten on here instead of buying on Amazon last night.  bad girl. I was up all night with mouth sores and eating ice.   I was concerned I'd swallow and choke on the ice cube.  Got some of the rx Magic Mouth Rinse Potion.  Its helping a lot.

Wrenn - I'm in the Midwest "You guys" gives it away!

I'm in Seattle and we say "guys" too. Objects sometimes not just people.

Lover - that's what I would do w it too. I have a memory of my mom with the old pressure cooker. She was so afraid of it, when it would start whistling she would yell RUUNNNNNNNNNNN as she did an adjustment on top then hightailed out of the kitchen while pulling her shirt away from her back in case it exploded so she would not get hit by shrapnel. I am glad today's pressure cookers are safer.

My Mom wasn't that afraid of her pressure cooker, but she treated it with the care you'd use driving on ice. It was clear that she'd seen one explode in the past. MIL had a smaller one and used it all the time. She loved to cook and still had great dinners after she went back to work.

Mommy, oh we beat you to the snow, in south Texas! We got some wet snow last night, first time since 2011. It barely covered the bushes, but shut down our power for 5 hours. This morning the traffic halted most business will not open until 10. This is what south Texan do with snow.

Eeyore, We lived in Houston when it snowed there. Neighbor kids woke us up at 5:30 to get the kids up to play in it. My Mom bought the kids rubber galoshes that they rarely wore. I put them all out on the front porch and said anyone they fit could have them. Offices built snowmen. How to celebrate snow right!

    Hey there everyone,

Here it is another Friday again. It has been a busy week for me. I had a bone scan on Tuesday in Portland, then two other appts. on Wed. & Thurs. here at home. Today some friends took me to lunch for my birthday and it was yummy. Unfortunately, after eating that great lunch I took my Ibrance and for some unknown reason it caused me to be so nauseous. I had to go to Costco from the restaurant and of course they had all kinds of demonstrators giving out food samples. The smells just made my stomach churn.

Because it's been so busy for me I forgot today was actually Friday, I think I thought it was still Thursday. Anyway, I forgot to go volunteer like I normally do on Friday's. I'm gonna have to call them on Monday to apologize.

Here are new pics of my Kirby boy!

Kirby watching me sew on Sunday.

Speaking of sewing, I've had a special order for an apron for a woman. Her DH ordered it. The surprise was when I found out the size she is on top. 38K. I couldn't fathom just how large that is and had to Google it to get an idea. So now I have a pattern and the fabric and I need to make it this weekend. Will need to do some adjusting of the pattern to try and make it fit right. This is why I DON"T do clothing. But, I seem to have this need to make people happy and can't say "NO" sometimes. I hope and pray this works out since the man has already paid and is expecting the apron before Christmas.

Kirby wearing his new parka at the hospital on Tuesday where I went for my bone scan. It was 33 degrees outside. Thankfully we are having very cold, but dry weather. so far. Praying for it to continue so I can get to the airport on the 25th.

New to Owlettes. Love it if its a late night non-judgemental place that you can comment or post and no one asks why were you still up or oh you were up late. To much to try to explain.

Not sure if I am in the proper forum.  I have had a rollercoaster of a day, but I am not in a crisis situation.  Insomniac, yes that has become my new normal since diagnosis. Today I had my core biopsies done.  I thought at this appointment that I would get more answers.  My family doctor initially aspirated a cyst/tumour on November 13th.   A week later he told me I showed positive for colloid cancer on the right breast.  At that time he did not have the pathology results and said they had just called him to tell him.  He told me what would happen would be mammogram, ultrasound, etc and that I would need a PET scan to yet to check for cancer in other organs.  That I should call later for pathology results.  I had the mammogram and ultrasound, which found another mass on the left breast.  Today I had the core biopsy procedure and at this time I asked for a copy of my pathology results from the aspiration  They said they didn't have them.  I also asked for copies of my mammogram results and nobody would give these to me.  Is this normal?  I then asked if they would be scheduling me for the PET scan, I was told no your family doctor has to do this.  When I got home I called my family doctor, I asked for my pathology results and was told they are not yet available (sample was taken November 13th)  and then I said that he is supposed to get me the PET scan....then I was told to book an appointment to see him. By this time I am really frustrated. My doctor is a 1.25 hour drive one way and I have already missed a lot of work so I said no he just saw me so please give him the message.  Am I being unreasonable in my expectations of getting my own results?

tessie - You are not being unreasonable in wanting your results, but they are not released to the patient until the ordering doctor has had a chance to review them, then he should call you ASAP. Once that is done a copy of the pathology report has to be available to you upon request. Since 25 days since the aspiration have elapsed I would think that is more than enough time to get results. Do you have access to a patient portal like "My Chart"? If so, then once the doctor releases the results you can read them there.

As far as the PET scan, the doctor does have to fax the order to the facility and since you had just been there and it would create a hardship for you to have to drive there AGAIN, you should not be required to make another trip. Especially since he has already told you that the PET would be one of the steps in your process and all he has to do is FAX the order to the facility. You did good in advocating for yourself. Do not be afraid to stand up to any doctor. They put their pants on one leg at a time just like you. Plus, never be afraid to find a new provider if the one you already have won't listen to you or doesn't take the time to explain what you need to know or treat you with dignity. I've had to do that before. I am thankful that at one point I had a friend who pushed me to take care of myself. I even went so far as to call the Mayo Clinic and ended up getting treatment there. For me it was an excellent decision.

Help anyone? New and not sure how to post new topic but if anyone's up can you please help? Either with an an answer or telling me how to post in the proper forum? I had a biopsy today, meaning Friday, and now it's 6 AM and I haven't slept yet and I noticed an itch & when I went to scratch it , I saw my scar for the first time, & realized I saw it because the Steri-Strips completely came off and there was a little bit of blood in the center of the Steri-Strip! They had used 4 or 5 small strips to make a cross pattern..I didn't know what to do so took a small alcohol swab and swapped around it and noticed what look like a tiny hair (maybe part of a clot? Or could be a part of gauze that got stuck in wound? Was afraid to tug on it for fear of dislodging if clot...and it's the weekend so can't reach my doctor. I couldn't find any information online on how to Steri-Strip it myself! Have Steri-Strips in my house so I just did what I thought I would do for a wound and made like a tic-tac-toe pattern and left the center exposed a tiny bit, but since they did crisscross and didn't expose I wonder what I should do? I'm afraid if I make a crisscross, if I am wrong to do this if someone lifts it up or I lift up in a few days it will rip the scab/wound..I wondered if anyone knew if there was a reason why it had to be covered completely, or since it's already been about 16 hours from the biopsy, do you think it's OK to have a small spot of it exposed? I also covered it with a small cootin pad that I ripped off the center of a Band-Aid...thinking that was the most sterile gauze I had. (feel like Mrs. Mcgyver) The pads came undone also so I just took some surgical tape and taped them the best I could so they don't fall off my breast, but I'm not really sure what the point of them or since they don't seem to be over the wound per se but the center of the breast where I guess the actual biopsy pieces were taken? I'm scared of getting an infection and I'm scared that I'm doing all the wrong things… Has anyone else had their Steri-Strips come off prematurely? If anyone is out there, thank you for listening. I feel so alone and scared. If I am replying to someone's post and not posting a new topic, can you please tell me how? And my apologies. Ty

Concerned2018, I also had my biopsies Friday, in the afternoon.  I was told to leave the bandages on for a minimum of 24 hours and not to get them wet.  It is a shame they didn't put yours on better so you wouldn't have to be dealing with this problem.  I was told to watch for redness or sign of infection.  Did you put ice on after?  Do you see any redness?  Hopefully the itch is just a sign of healing.  I was also told to expect to see some blood on the bandages.  You would think what you are seeing is from the gauze but who knows?  I have never seen a clot.  I think too doing the alcohol swab would be a good thing.  I asked if I should put polysporin on after and they said I likely wouldn't need to.  How long is your incision?  I haven't seen mine yet.

Hi I will join you both, I had my MRI guided biopsy on Tuesday, December 5th I am still waiting for the results, This is my 6th biopsy on my left breast. Last year I had to have a surgical biopsy and a lumpectomy after a biopsy showed Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia. I was started on Tamoxifen as a preventative last Sept 2016. But this has been a long week and I haven't slept a wink..

Welcome, MissMariss; it must have been a slow night last night. I'm sure others will be along to give you a more comprehensive welcome, but the "waiting for your results" is most certainly the worst of the insomniac phases! I've had nasty insomnia for all two of my followup testing cycles.

Concerned, it sounds like you crafted a reasonable solution to your steristrips coming off for now to keep your wound clean, just watch for redness, heat, fever, drainage as signs of infection until you call again Monday or can go in to get it checked or send an iphone picture to your doc of what it looks like.

However, you need to get clear ASAP with your medical team what numbers you are supposed to call after hours and on weekends when you say you cannot reach your doctor. Most all docs have some kind of cross-coverage set up for off hours, even if it is just a nurse chat hotline to start for simple things. Is there no emergency number to dial when you call his office? No online contact nurse? Most private insurances and also Medicare and Medicaid offer a 24/7 nurse advice line, check your plan, so you are prepared for next time

    Hello ladies,

It is my birthday today and I am in the hospital with an infection in my right arm. Probably cellulitis. On IV antibiotics. Don't know how long I'll be here. When I had this 2.5 years ago I was inpatient for 3 days and then 4 days of daily outpatient IV antibiotics.

I sure could have found a much better way to spend my b-day. Arrgh! I am so bored.

Tessie, Miss Marissa - I hope your incisions are doing well and that you get your results soon. Try to keep busy to distract yourselves.

Oh, JunieB! I bring you a birthday cupcake, with ooscoobs of frosting and a CANDLE, and a stiff drink as desired/permitted, and companionship. And most importantly, the suggestion that you declare you birthday this year to be some other convenient day, 'cause this is so NOT your birthday. Just saying.

Yes, do pick another day for your birthday. Or order a cake delivered to let the staff know you need special treatment. Hugs.

    Thank you ladies!

kathindc - My precious Kirby is with his trainer. I called her last night at 8:30 p.m., just before she put her jammies on, and she drove an hour from her house to pick Kirby up, then an hour back. I miss that little bug sooooo much.

Kirby has 7 Papillions & 5 Shepard to play with. He's probably having a great time.

Here he is watching me sewing last Sunday.

Plus, I agree with you on celebrating my b-day on another day. When Loverly, Sas, Shep & I get together would be an excellent time.

A friend of mine did bring me cupcakes today. That was very thoughtful of her. I kept 2 and shared the rest with the staff here on the floor.
