oh I know, the stories of what he heard and what I really said. But typing on iPad is rough with mistakes and correcting so I will type stories on keyboard sometime.

Wren, I couldn't imagine if both of us were hearing challenged!

Another day with the attorney. Four hours. Ack. And now to memorize the original deposition and to have Hubby rehearse q and a as I give one and two word answers. He has permission to flick my nose if I editorialize. Or answer a question before it has been asked. I do that. Intuitiveness maybe? Not good for a courtroom. Oh my.

Added sauteed mushrooms to leftover comfort food and made Shepherd's pie.

Tomorrow we shop for grocery deals.

forgot. My poor puppy. He is alive regardless of our stupidity. He was being given chewy for joints called phycox. Ran out so used some joint support we had used last Spring. On his food. He stopped wanting to eat. I asked Hubby if the bottle needed refrigerated after opening. Sure enough. Tossed that! Could have killed him. Have money now to order more pills. They helped. I can tell the difference. Spent three hours tonight to order dry food choice different than have been feeding. Requirements was no canola oil, potatoes and tomatoes very low in ingredients, no soy, corn, wheat, must be food sourced from North America, New Zealand or Europe, Australia. Let's see, fish from Atlantic, wild caught only. Hmmmmm no GMO foods, any oats and seeds had to never be sprayed with glyphosate to dry the crop. I found four out of maybe 80 I read. Ordered one. Sun Gold. Hope he likes it. Anyway, he has been getting pretty much all this. Though I was not THAT careful lately. But after all that was when we realized the cause of all his problems with intestinal fecal could have been from the bottle of joint formula we did not refrigerate. That said, canola oil sensitivities are common and intestinal disruption is the usual outcome. Which could be a rewason for his often requested trips out. And the dropsies. It was the main fat in his last food.

Poor Danny Boy! Hope his tummy is better now. Tomato in dog food? Many breeds, especially the smaller ones, can get very sick or worse from them. You really have to read labels and do research. Pet and people food should be closely regulated - too much garbage in our foods :(

While my bad critters are sleeping...........

Here are a few of the pics JunieB took of us at the Flying Fish Restaurant during our December mini vacation. Loverly caught me with a mouth full of chocolates in her pics of us at the hotel. Junie got us all with mouths full! Very sly of her to be the picture taker during the feeding frenzy - no photos of Junie with butter on her chin, ha!

Me & Loverly sharing snow crab legs

    image

How Loverly could eat SO much after emptying that bucket of beer I do not know

    image

Look at her eyeing those crab legs! We both LOVE 'em. A true test of friendship; sharing the crab in a fair and peaceful manner without inflicting damage upon one another.😋

    Loverly and Sassy

    image

    See? Mouths full (again)

    image

Sassy had asked me what was the best standout moment of our get together. Without a doubt it was the very first time we we all met in the hotel lobby. Loverly and I met in the "right " parking lot - after figuring out we were each in a different, yet identical side by side parking area. Frustrating, but funny after. We triumphantly walked together into the lobby's waiting area and there were Sassy and Junie! Immediate exclamations of joy, hugs and girly mushiness. I wish I had a picture of the smile on Junie's face - she lit the whole place up. Best smiler ever! Oooh and snuggling with Sas on the sofa while lazing all together in the living room telling stories. If any of y'all ever get the chance, I highly recommend getting in a good cuddle session with her. Sassy is the snuggiest person in the entire world - I am certain of that. Loverly....hmmm. Very Euro-Chic in her black skinny jeans, boots , sunglasses and trench coat - like a supermodel or an assassin (maybe both!) She is warm and funny and just "Loverly".

Our time together was extra special because we were able to share some of it with MammaRay. Loverly sent her video clips and we texted pictures to her too. Although she was nearing her time in this life, our little Wonder Woman rallied and excitedly texted us back. For that little while, it was as if she truly were with us. Ray had texted me when I was back at home. She so wanted to call and hear all about the adventures we had but needed to rest up first. We never were able to have that phone call. Dear MammaRay had to rest up for her own journey. Our stories will have to wait until we meet in the next life that awaits us.

Sas has stressed many times the importance of connecting with each other in person, not just here. Emails, texts, phone chats.....reaching out and forming real, solid friendships. I don't know where I'd be without my BCO sisters💕

Kath - yes we did get the pup. She is adorable but exhausting. Here's a pic of Ellie Mae sleeping in the van on the way home from Georgia (4 hours!) and another of her settling in. She was 8 weeks old when she came home last weekend on the 20th.

More pics and puppy/kitty stories later!

Shepkitty - the little clip made me grin. She is like, ball get off the rug, I am eating it. You big softie - you got the puppy. She looks cuddly actually.

I love seeing all the pics of your gathering, the stories. Reminds me of a gathering a group of us took to Sedona several years ago, 11 women for a week. Very interesting, hysterical and emotional.

Insomniacs - I want to sleep. Was so tired. Went to bed late bcz the Indiana Jones movie from 1989 w Harrison Ford and Sean Connery (played his father) was too good, not the plot but the acting. Bed, and right away I was feeling a pain in left side of head. Turned over and then it added a ringing in left ear. Decided this is what kept me up several nights ago. My worries go to is it in my brain now? Sleep anyway I told myself. But then my back started warning me to change positions or else, that is a level 9 pain and I have a minute or so to comply and figure out how to stop it or else. SO I did and then I had to pee. oh bother. Dressed in gown, sweater and slippers, sitting here catching up. Ear stopped ringing for a few and now is again, pain is gone, back is 90% better. 5:12 my time. AM. 5:12 AM. ugh I need sleep, when I don't get sleep I usually get deathly ill, a lupus thing from 2007 to now. Going to try again. g nite! Thanks for being out here with posts and stories.

Hi ladies! I’m loving all the pictures, keep em coming,

My exchange surgery went very well, I have foobies! They are so much more comfortable than the expanders. I never realized how much pain I was actually in the past year and a half until they were gone. I figure I just got accustomed to it and went on with my life. DH reminded me that my pain tolerance is very high and of course he also reminded me that I went on with my life as usual when I was walking around for 3 days with a ruptured appendix and my small intestines being blocked and lived to tell about it! Now I know how it feels to be a horse that’s got a bad case of colic. Crazy stuff!

I have more surgery coming up as my PS only did extensive work on my cancer side. He thought doing the right side would have been to much for my system to handle. My expanders were under my chin and in my armpits so he had to do some extra cutting along the breast bone to get them in the right position. I love my PS, and a lot of women were telling me to go with the older doc, boy am I glad I didn’t listen to them! My PS is very soft spoken and quiet but that doesn’t make him the creepy guy I was told he was. I’m going to cry when I have to find another PS in TN. I called my insurance and asked if I could travel to see my current PS? Of course not! We’re thinking of postponing the listing of our house so I can finish my surgeries with my PS. I hate starting over with new PCPs I know I’m going to be very picky with my new PS

Sas, I’ll get some pictures up of my grandbabies soon. The garden turned out wonderfully, but I missed the end of the season as I was in Texas at the time.

Shepkitty, Sas, JunieB and Loverly, what a great time you ladies had on your mini vacation, I wish I could have gone. Anyone near Memphis TN?

    Shep, your puppy is adorable!

I’ll be back later I hope. Sending lots of prayers, hugs and kisses to all!

    Until next time

Running through to post a little I learned about the flu 2018. I got in to my nurse 2 hrs after Hubby called them. They did a test in the room and knew in 6 min I was negative. Whew! The test is not fun, Matrix style OMG but not awful ---- a tiny long swab high into nostril on each side and swirled. But it sure was easier than a liver biopsy through the diaphragm. Since I lived through that can I live through anything? : )

I was wheezy and nurse G has me on an antibiotic I responder well to Spring 2017. I will take it in morning when we are by the ambulance service near restaurant, I am serious. WITHOUT DRUGS! Goal, to keep me out of ER and hospital and not to be any sicker than I am right now.

Will be by later to read and post. A short short on why am I eating my popcorn with a spoon? Why Hubby?

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health...

Of note on that article is the back of the throat being a target for the bacteria.

"Q: What does flu do to the body, and why do some otherwise healthy people die?

The virus causes damage all by itself, but the immune response it triggers, especially among young, healthy adults, also makes people sick and can lead to death. After entering the body, often inhaled through the nose or mouth, the influenza virus begins hijacking human cells in the nose and throat to make copies of itself. The virus implants in the mucous membranes at the back of the throat and upper part of the bronchial tubes. In doing so, it weakens or destroys the feather-like protective cells in the bronchial tubes that push out bacteria and other material, "like so many little oars," said William Schaffner, an infectious disease expert at Vanderbilt University.

Without that protection, bacteria — including the kind that causes pneumonia — can work their way down the bronchial tube and into the lungs, causing complicating bacterial pneumonia, he said.

Influenza virus can also trigger such a massive immune response, especially in adolescents and younger adults with robust immune systems, that these otherwise healthy people are basically drowning in their own immune cells and proteins, said Stinchfield at Children's Minnesota. Or, as Schaffner put it, the overwhelming immune response "can make your whole body's metabolism go awry. It's like an army set off bombs and killed all the good stuff while targeting the virus.""

Poor Danny Boy. Hope he is on his way to recovery from the mishaps. Thank you Blue for the info on the flu. Just as Feline always said BCO is educational.

So mad at myself. I set the alarm clock so I can catch the Super Blue Blood Moon. I foolishly trust my body to snooze for 5 minutes after I turned off the alarm. Slept for hour and a half afterwards. Ugh. I need to stay healthy so I can live another 150 years to catch another one. I did manage to snap a photo of the moon tbe evening before the event.

I bought this tea to try. Supposedly good for health. Refreshing when chilled. Fragrance is heavenly. I love everything roses.

TaRenee, best wishes on tapering off of Effexor. I thought about getting Peridin-c too, but want to try eating food high in Vitamin C and colorful fruits/veggies first. Man made can't be better???

Lori, good to see your post. Isn't it amazing how we learn to live with pain? Hope the foobs are twins.

Blue, you are in trouble with the law? And you gave DH permission to flick your nose if you put your foot in your mouth? You know how painful that is (I am sure it can't be more painful than the liver biopsy you had)? Ms. Chevyboy told me one time that if I ever put mine in my mouth, don't get upset andjust continue putting the other foot in also. You are right about Shep being a softie. I told her I knew she would fall in love with the pup despite the breed’s flaws.

Shep, our mini vacation had many “comedy of errors". That was so wrong that they built the parking lot mirror image of each other. I bet you they have hidden camera just to record people like us. That was hilarious. I agree that was memorable. One of the things we didn't get to do was wearing our animal hats. Ms. Sas and JunieB were too embarrassed to be seen with us with the our hats on. Such party poopers. You know I was quietly picking out the bigger crab legs in that picture.

Ms. Sas, I really have to apologize to you. The crab legs were so good, I forgot to ask you if wanted some. I was afraid that shepk would hurt me if I offered you some.

Poor JunieB was not feeling well, but chose to put up a front so we could enjoy our dinner (found out afterwards). I am sorry you didn't get a chance to enjoy the dinner, JunieB.

    Ladies,

I think this is the busiest thread out of all. It's also fun. I agree with WrenchLori, keep those pics coming. Bluebird, sorry you got the flu. I know we have to keep our immune systems strong. I had my first flu shot in November. My oncologist insisted on it. I was afraid the flu shot might do a reverse, and make me sick. Well, I've been fine.

This is probably a stupid question due to our breast cancer history, but do you ladies always get your flu shot? Bluebird, thanks for sending that article. I've always wondered the same thing, how do healthy people die with the flu? And the scary thing is, it can hit at any age!!! I had a cousin at the age of 24 who died from pneumonia. She left behind a six month old baby. Also, as we know, cancer doesn't care what age we are.

On another note, Shepkitty, I love those pics of your dogs. I just found out recently that there is a cats, cats, cats forum. I'm sure there is one for dogs, I've been lurking on the cats forum. So much cuteness. My daughter and I have two cats. Do any of you ladies post your pets on the cats or dog threads? Or both?

If you don't mind me asking, where in South Carolina do you live? I'm in North Carolina, so I know South Carolina very well. Of course, many of us go to Myrtle Beach. Also Hilton Head. My favorite is Charleston.

Jaymeb, I always get my flu shot, but got flu anyway this year. Three weeks and coughing until my muscles hurt. I post on the Cats thread. Mostly my foster cat because my cat is black and very hard to photograph.

Jaymeb, I use to get the flu shot every year but haven't for about three years. Last shot I had, I ended up with an intense, condensed version of it. For some reason, I can't shake the thought of it. Yes, I can be a wuss. I try very hard to stay away from crowds. I post occasionally on cats, cats, cats. A few pics of our deceased cats and now post pics of the neighborhood ferals I feed.

Lover, glad to hear your dad is doing well. You were very quiet for a while. See you are back in form with your posts. Your tea reminds me of one I got in Japan over 10 years ago. It was a Lipton tea for their Asian market called Pure Beauty, rosehip and orange. I had actually contacted Lipton to see about it coming here, no luck. It was heavenly. Had to have DS send it to me periodically. Neither he or I, the last time I went, can find it now.

    Junie, how is Kirby doing?

    Hmmm

Guess everyone is sleeping. As usual, still up. Sighh. Has anyone ever tried melatonin? Does it help with sleep? Never tried it, not sure if it would work with me due to ambien. I wish there was some way to get off this addictive pill.

Can tamoxifen cause forgetfulness? I swear, I've been on this pill almost a year, and I think it's affecting my memory. I'll be on hormone therapy for 10 years instead of 5. Apparently, from what I understand, 10 years is supposed to be more beneficial. But, then there's always something changing in the medical field. Can't keep up!!!

Exactly, that's why I never wanted the flu shot. Not guaranteed we're better off with it. Oh, well I'm supposed to take it every year for the rest of my Iife. Gotta love breast cancer🙄🙄. I think that's a good idea to stay away from crowds. However, if I lived in DC, that would be hard. I love that place. Just don't like the metro, so confusing. I guess if I lived there, it wouldn't be so hard

Jaymeb memory and concentration issues are a very common and under-reported set of SE's of tamoxifen. You will find many on these boards who experienced it. It is the reason I switched from tamox to AI's. Didn't sort it out. (But did cure the massive muscle knots I was getting in back, neck and shoulders, also from tamox, so that was good). A couple of months ago DH bought me a supplement that I can actually take (as you know many of those midlife type ones are oestregen based and therefore not a remedy for us) I am now on my 3rd month taking it. It is called Clear Brain by a company called New Nordic. It is not dirt cheap here it works out roughly €1 a day, but looks like it is a little bit cheaper where you are. I do feel better on it. It is not a cure, but an improvement.

This is it on amazon.com if you are curious https://www.amazon.com/New-Nordic-Clear-Brain-Tablets/product-reviews/B01LYSO8VS

Jaymeb, Metro can still confuse me. The routes I’m ok with, BUT I invariably want to go to the exit furthest from my destination even after looking at the signage. I really have to think about which way to turn coming off the train. Being underground distorts my sense of direction. Don’t think I could ever be a mole person, LOL. I avoided rush hour at all costs if I could. Now qualify for senior fare, but if truth be told, I prefer driving. One too many derailments for me to want to chance it. DD2 uses it all the time. Worry when I hear any reports

I get a flu shot every year. Mostly because I teach school and my docs always told me to get one. I got mine late this year due to dx and surgery, but I still got it.

Lover of Life - I am trying not to be in trouble w the law. That is why Hubby is still here. His latest moment in mal judgement is another blog post. I am outlining a short story book w the working title It Was the End of Days. Read into it what you will.

Seriously though, the accident was the fault of the driver that came in our lane and wedged their little car under our truck before the vehicles went in other directions, and the one who t-bones us after for driving too fast too and having no time to react or brake. I have been waiting nearly 3 yrs for a settlement and now am forced to videotape my second deposition in case I cannot talk, am in no condition to testify or am in an urn the day of court. oh bother, right? Thursday I will be done w that and off to do other things that I hope are more enjoyable, like bahahahahaaaa planning my own funeral which indeed I have found a pleasant experience regardless the unpleasantness associated with these things.

Danny Boy is better - no more needing out, he is his old self. No more dropsies. We are idiots. No brains no headache and all that jazz. His new dog food arrived and 4 bags of cookies. We call the UPS guy the COOKIE MAN. When he would be in the vehicle w us and see an UPS truck anywhere he would point, when we or they drove by his whole face just fell.

Jaymed - can you wean off the ambien? Has the doctor told you how? I use melatonin, low dose. I need 8 hrs at least if I take it. But a naturopath at the center told me if I wake up groggy to sit in the sun or at a you know, those special bulbs that gives off light bulb sunshine and it would turn off the sleep hormone and on the wake hormone, that is my putting it into a nutshell, simply as I can.

I feel like sharing a story for those who are awake at night. Not new.

Bluebird, I love that you love skunks! We have a few in my neighborhood (WILD as heck) and I try to just stay out of their way. But I love to watch them. Last spring there was a whole family in my back yard. They were so cute. I think they left the area when we started having problems with coyote. (I hope they found a safe spot!) Thank You for sharing pictures and stories.

TeRenee - our first was a wild kit, Pooh. We caught him in a field as he was an orphan and out scratching for food in the sand of the neighbor's front yard in the hot sun. He was the love of my life but don't tell Hubby.

Pooh - otherwise called Sequoia. We got a permit to keep him because he got pneumonia and then imprinted on us humans and so would be a high risk release. Desaced and spoiled as they come.

I have been so sad that I lost my singing voice - love love love to sing, blues, R & B, folk.

Good thing is I have just tried to hold my throat on the side the vocal chords don't close right (nerve damage from cancer lymph nodes) and there is an interesting sound.

Just had Danny Boy sitting in front of me and we were dancing - he was drooling and dancing because I make his ears fly in time to the music. He had great fun ! So did I !

Music is one of my stress releasers. Writing. Gardening. Painting. Playing w the dog. Milk chocolate. Strawberry ice cream. Designing publications.

My son-in-law in the UK where DD is now, he is a musician and caregiver. He writes, plays several instruments, his voice is dynamic. He likes to do accompanying videos for originals and covers. He wrote a song for my daughter that I cried over, hot white tears. I cannot wait until he is ready to release it on youtube. I will see what I can find to share for these midnight hours if you are stopping in. Of course, it is barely dusk here now. But I plan to be in bed tonight and not have a nightmare and sleep through.
