Any ladies from WISCONSIN??

hi ladies, I'm back from vacation in FL. It was good to get away and see family but happy to be home. Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday.
Boy, I got outta Dodge just in time! Flew out of Madison early Weds morning 12/19, the day it started snowing and didn't stop until Friday. Madison got 20 inches of snow and we got over a foot. Thanks to a nice neighbor with a snow blower who did our driveway, hubby only had to clear the walk. No sidewalk in front of our house TG.
Today is one of those ice-blue mornings, so very pretty but so very cold. As the sun hits the treetops, a layer of snow melts just enough to un-stick from the branches and fall. Looks like it's snowing but it's not. Geez, I love winter. Could not live in FL. Just not Christmas when it's 80. They string lights in the palm trees and blow up plastic snowmen and sing "Let It Snow" and I think BS! Come up North if you're dreaming of a White Christmas.
Wishing you all a healthy and Happy New Year! ((hugs))

Welcome home BADGER! Yes...Christmas really isn't Christmas-y without snow. But, you came back to the winter wonderland and some chill! Are you feeling Great? All healed up?
We are doing our Christmas today...kinda stink because my mom is still in the hospital but I'll take her up a dinner she was in the hospital on Christmas Eve and Day so our delayed celebration really didn't hurt any plans...but it was suppose to be delayed because of me...not mama.
Any New Years Eve plans? We usually wing it. I'd like to watch movies, eat comfort foods, play games....and go to bed about 10:30!! HAHAAAHAHAAAA!0 -
hey fuzzy, I started to reply then the football game started so I logged off PDQ. Great game! Too bad we lost, must've been all those Bears fans rooting for the Pack, it threw off the cosmic balance.
I'm doing well, healing up nicely. You doing OK? Hope you're getting better & better. Sorry to hear about your mom being in the hospital over Christmas. Did that last year (in FL) with my mom and it's a rotten way to spend the holiday.
No NYE plans as DH has to work and I'm not going out. Maybe a drink around the Bonfire of the Goddesses with SAS. I can't make it to midnight either.

Its always like a perfect bowl of vanilla ice cream when I read your posts Badger! LOL....just so sweet and exactly right: ) LOL
Mama is definitely getting better! She requested her cell phone, glasses and an eyebrow pencil today! LOL she's a tough tough woman that's for sure.
Im getting better everyday...I have so much pain and adjusted my meds up a notch...but I guess I did go through a lot and I have to pace myself...realize that my body needs to heal and get use to this "new stuff". Really not sure the reconstruction thing is worth all the trouble...mainly because of the radiation damage, ya know?0 -
LOL can I be Breyers Natural Vanilla? It's the one with real vanilla bean specks mmm.
I didn't have rads or do recon so can't advise there but can say for sure, pain is bad.
Pain makes me cranky, and pain pills are constipating which makes me even crankier.

Happy New Year everyone!
Badger - a question - how are you tracking those miles? Are you using an Ap?
0 -
pebee, I use a cheap ($5) pedometer to log distance walked and track it manually.
I programmed the pedometer for miles but I dropped it and it switched itself to kilometers. I'm too lazy to change it back so first I have to convert km to mi. Then I add day's miles to the running total and update my user profile with the new number. I find great support and motivation at the Let's Post our Daily Exercise thread which you (all) are more than welcome to join!

Well. Guess ill be watching tv alone tonite. Oh, well. DH had to work today, and he just now got off. He had to drive up to his dad on Friday and do all the snowblowing for him and his sisters staying at the other house. Then he drove home in the snowstorm to get here for a Round Robin we have in the neighborhood. Then, we cleaned house cause his family is coming over tomorrow. So I understand, but I am a bit sad right now. Weird, especially since I haven't gone out for new years for years! LOL.
I wish for a better 2013 for everyone! Much love.0 -
((Monica)) my DH had to work today/tonight too. I'm used to it though, he always works NYE. He'll wake me up late so I'm looking forward to the Rose Parade tomorrow morning.
I'm sipping a nice glass of Prairie Fume from Wollerscheim Winery. Gonna make some kale chips in a while, and see who's around the Bonfire of the Goddesses. C'mon over yourself! Maybe someone will bring s'mores.
Meanwhile, here's Melissa d'Arabian's recipe for Crispy Kale Chips: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/melissa-darabian/crispy-kale-chips-recipe/index.html
Ingredients
- 1 head kale, washed and thoroughly dried
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Sea salt, for sprinkling
Directions
Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F.
Remove the ribs from the kale and cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces. Lay on a baking sheet and toss with the olive oil and salt. Bake until crisp, turning the leaves halfway through, about 20 minutes. Serve as finger food.

Oh Moon....I'd love to be hanging out at Boston Market with you tonight!! LOL
My oldest daughter is running a fever so we're just at home watching TV. Im still recovering too and pain meds and alcohol would probably make me lose my cookies!! LOL0 -
((fuzzy)) sometimes, all we can do is keep breathing

There's an old blonde joke about breathing. If we get together in Madison or Milwaukee sometime this year, ask if I remember all of it. We did not make our commute the day of the blizzard last month. Looking forward to a Florida trip in February.
The 9 days I spent at Froedtert for various BC-related reasons back in 2011 were all good: make that your hospital of choice in SE Wisconsin! Zogo & I both love our plastic surgeon. He's listed in the current M magazine as one of the best in the region.
Anyone see the Hobbit movie? The reserved seats for the 3D show were great. Felt we could splurge since this was the first motion picture I had been to in half a decade at a theater (son & hubby usually go by themselves). Found my old paperback copy of the book and am rereading...

Happy New Year, fellow Wisconsinites!
I got to ski with my family at the newly re-opened Little Switzerland in Slinger yesterday. It felt really good to be on skis again.
Hoping for a Badger win in the Rose Bowl today. Go Badgers!
(Oh, I did see Dr. H in the M magazine. I love that man)

Aw, too bad, the Badgers lost! Three times to the RoseBowl and no win. That's gotta hurt!
Happy New Year to all, Much love. Keep breathing and / or swimming. LOL0 -

CC: Welcome to the club nobody wants to join! Love your "flat & fabulous" attitude. Even if chemo is in your future with that positive node, you can do it. Are you waiting for Oncotype results?
0 -
Welcome Cc. Waiting is always the hardest! Feel free to ask questions. Someone usually has answers or can point you to the answer. Much love.

Hello CC.....Us Wisconsin girls are a great bunch! We're here for ya!
0 -
hi everyone and welcome CC. I'm nearly three years post-BMX and also flat & fabulous.
I was self-conscious at first but that feeling has passed. Most people don't even notice. If they do, it tends to make them more uncomfortable than it does me.
Chemo is no picnic but it can be done. And we'll be here to support you no matter what.
How ya doing, fuzzy? Still breathing I hope.

Hi WI gals...I've been MIA due to crazy year end BS at work. Finally, 12/31 is behind me.
Badg - Hope you had a great time in FL. Let's try for lunch soon.
Fuzz - Glad you're feeling better and hope your mom is ok, too.
Moon - Happy that you're breathing!
Sorry that the Badgers couldn't get anything going...even with Barry as coach! I feel badly for those boys who work so hard. At least it wasn't a blow out. Keep your fingers crossed for the Packers.
Happy and Healthy 2013 to all!
Gina

WAHAHAAAA!!! CC - that's perfect for a TShirt!! Love it!! Um...I'm so proud of you for biting your tongue. I lost it during round 3 of AC Chemo....I ripped the head off a doctor who tried to understand how I was feeling. I feel terrible about it now because she was sweet as pie!
Oh yeah...I'm breathing!! LOL I'm seriously considering never going back there. Which makes me consider changing PS. I can't handle another F-Up. My lungs are still not 100%. I'm struggling with the lower right lung. But, I keep working with it. Those dorky little blue & clear breather gadgets that you get out of the hospital, SAS told me her way of making them work and I had immediate improvement! Wild, eh?
Gina!! Sorry work was beating you up!! Glad that's over for ya!!
Moon...my dear therapist...love ya darlin'! Thanks again for all your time today: )0 -
hey CC sorry about the phone SNAFU. Great sentiment - wanna trade? Bet the answer's no.
I had long hair that I donated to Locks of Love before I started chemo. Got a really nice bob cut, very flattering but labor-intensive to style every morning. Hair started to come out 14 days post-first chemo (taxotere & cytoxan) so then I got my hair buzzed short but not shaved. Hair dresser recommended against it because she said shaving can cause ingrown hairs, and I believed her.
A really nice splurge is a satin pillowcase. Felt so good against my nubby head.
((fuzzy)) let's hear it for the incentive spirometer! Gimme an "i" gimme an "n"

OK that last bit was dumb -sorry - how about gimme a "P" gimme an "A" ... go Pack go!
