Had to cancel our afternoon & evening plans since icy sleet is predicted so thought I would catch up with you gals. Now you know why MOM (Milk of Magnesia) has the laxative effect that my elderly customers in the nursing home appreciate!
Seriously, getting a vitamin D level is important. For those of us over age 50, colonoscopy should be done also. My Froedtert internist checked my thyroid after chemo.
Met with my local BC group last Monday for brunch at the Machine Shed. Still think that might be a good central location for us to meet sometime, right off the interstate.
Fuzzy may want to get another opinion - I suggest trying John Hijjawi since she comes to Milwaukee anyway...

You know, I've never been to the machine shed. Passed it many times. But always on my way to or from somewhere. It would work for me.
Badger, I shouldn't ever to get a mammo, I had a BMX done. But if they ever screw up and schedule one, I am SO doing that!!!!! LOL. Yep, we are warped.0 -
hi ladies, hope you like snow 'cuz we got a bunch! Headed your way Milwaukee.
Worked from home today so didn't have to drive to Madison. That made it prettier.
I'd be up for a meeting at the Machine Shed, seems a convenient location.

Heeeelllloooo SWGEE!!! Welcome to the Wisconsin gals!! WHOOT WHOOT!!
I had all my chemo and rads at the UW as well!! I love that hospital. Never had anything less than great people in there (for this business).0 -
hi ladies and welcome swgeeWi, New Glarus is pretty and there's an awesome brewery there.
Was so proud of Deb Carey for visiting the White House and meeting the Pres & VP.
CC sometimes when I catch DH shirtless I do a double-take 'cuz I forget people have nips.
Colder than all get out here but hey at least we don't live in North Dakota! (JK Ruth)

There's a bakery in New Glarus that is phenomenal. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it!!
People still have nips? Hee hee0 -
LOL fuzzy, I think of beer and you think of pastry!
Now I'll have visions of (tipsy) sugarplum fairies dancing in my dreams.

Hi WI gals,
I 'met' Badger over at the Bonfire forum and noticed that she, too, was from Wisconsin. She pointed me in this direction and it just took me a little while to make my way over. In any case, I'm just outside of Madison and have a consult with a UW RO next week. My surgery was just a little over 3 weeks ago, so I'm still pretty new on this journey. I have to say that I've learned so much from the women on these boards who've walked before me, and I feel much gratitude.
SwgeeWi, New Glarus is lovely and I agree with the comments on both the bakery and the brewery. I also like the Bramble Patch and have picked up a few pieces of their Polish pottery.
As for me. I just got back from my daughter's basketball game and glad to be home. Those roads are getting pretty slippery again. Hope everyone stays warm this weekend.0 -
hi Destina, welcome! Glad you found us!
I'm seeing an endodontist next week for an eval as to root canal. Got an abscessed tooth, on penicillin for jaw swelling and tylenol for pain. No fun! I hear the procedure itself isn't painful, it's the paying for it that hurts. So I may be pinching my pennies for a while.
Stay warm my friends!

Hello ladies I have been visiting this site but my first time posting. Visiting my grandsons in Madison. Live only a couple hours away but this has been a very crazy couple of months for surgeries. HOPEFULLY had my final one on Wednesday P.S. was able to fo my Tram revision & nipple reconstruction. Healing & pain pretty good so far. Only bad part is darn binder I have to wear for a week.

Welcome to our new gals. I don't get on line frequently since the thrice weekly drive to Madison makes for some long days. It's amazing how much working cuts into one's free time...
My hubby also "tele-commuted" during the snowstorm but we were fine over here - got all my errands done, enjoyed following salt trucks out on the roads early that morning (which Dane County seems to not use, even when benefit would be considerable: a few years ago there was a trial of brine spray, to see if it was less toxic to the lakes. Instead, they like to employ solar energy!)
The support group in Waukesha county is a remnant of the YWCA Encore program. Those ladies started meeting in the 1970s when there was a warm water pool for exercise at the local branch and have been going strong since. Across the country over the decades, they held training sessions for facilitators and had good attendance but the national sponsor turned it's focus toward other concerns. There are monthly educational talks at the ProHealth hospital featuring various doctors, lymphedema therapists, etc. I'm on the schedule for April with another pharmacist.

good morning ladies and welcome pegs54. Rest up and heal well.

Hi Ladies!! Yep, UW is the best!! I'm sooooo thankful to be able to go there! And yes, New Glarus is a great place. Cheese, New Glarus Brewery (Spotted Cow, anyone?) New Glarus Bakery, Primrose Winery (yes a winery!), Sugar River Shoppe, Glarner Stube Restaurant with the biggest Urinal in the midwest (how's that for a claim to fame?). There are so many festivals over the summer through fall. I'm all for A Wisconsin Meet Up!!! If there's one thing I've learned on this journey, it's that I need to get out there more. I've def. taken life for granted. Now it's time to make some memories!!
