Hello Ladies & Happy New Year! I just wanted to stop by and wish everyone a healthy 2013. I'm trying to get back into exercising after almost 2 years of not too much activity. My son is taking great pleasure in pointing out how flabby my arms have gotten so I'm trying to change that. I'm blaming everything on chemo! Has anyone tried green smoothies? I'm toying with adding that to my health kick. Thanks, Badger, for the kale chip recipe. It is one of my favorites!

Been hiding out. See my MO on Thursday. Three months since last visit. I think he's gonna cut me lose to 6 mo. I still don't have disability yet, so if he guys me loose, chances are worse to get it. Oh well, guess I will have to start looking for a job where I can sit for most time, but have the freedom to run to the restroom without checking or getting a replacement. not to mention they can't complain about a cane or knees that make noise you can hear when I walk. Net ill get many many offers! LOL ill let you know. LOL
Sorry, just upset I haven't heard from them except to ask for more info, but that was in November! I applied for the first time in June. Whee isn't this fun.0 -
hi ladies, rain here matches my mood. Having a rough few days at work but this too shall pass.
Monica, the disability system is one of the most byzantine bureaucracies known to man. Have you called the ADRC - Aging & Disability Resource Center? http://www.co.ozaukee.wi.us/adrc/ The Disability Benefit Specialist might be a good contact.
Good to see you keetmom and Kristin. I eat cooked kale 2-3 times per week but am not a fan of the green smoothies.
Anyone up for a weekday lunch at Sunprint in downtown Madison? They're open until Feb. 15 in their current location due to construction delays at their new location.
Take care everyone!

I love the random acts of kindness concept.
My husband is a pro at this...he never ceases to amaze me. I've seen him pay for a policeman's lunch in line behind him at a food cart downtown, run water bottles out to the garbage men during our hot summer, just yesterday he saw an envelope blowing across the street and turned his car around to stop and pick it up. It seemed to b some lady's life insurance payment ~ he put it in the mailbox.
Check out these links for more inspiration on random acts of kindness.

CCFW, congrats and thanks for the update.
Jane, you bet I will be watching the Packers game tonight!
fuzzy, hope you are doing better each day.
Monica, have you thought about registering with a temp agency? It's a good way to try out a variety of jobs and work situations to see what works for you and your creaky knees.
Headed out soon so talk to you later, ladies!

Hey Badger! Man it go cold as the day went on. I Really do think I'm getting better every day. Its such a slow process. Not sure what's going on in there - I wont get too detailed but it still causes pain and discomfort. Thanks for asking: ) you're a doll!
Moon...good advice there! A temp agency!! You're so talented and intelligent there has to be something out there for ya!0 -
Hey everyone! Pack let us down.
I actually worked with Seek twice. For about two years each time. Once when I started work after my kids were older, and once when I got laid off after 8 years at a job I got when temping. then I went to school for being a Health Unit Coordinator. Got a job there for about two years and that brings me to this crap. I could try temping again, but I hope my brain will come with me. LOL0 -
Moon...ya know what sweetie....all you gotta do is try. You are incredibly smart and I saw that from the first time I met You! If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. But, if you Really want to go to work, I think you wont let anything stop you. With That gorgeous voice of yours, you ought to be a vacation planner...all phone and computer. Shoot, you Could have your own business with that!

It's freaking cold tonight. There us ice on my sidwalk. Every time it melts, it comes back the next day. Oh well!0 -
Hey Badger! What?? What about this deep freeze? I haven't seen anything on it yet..blech!
Moon....WAHAHAAA!!! I see comedy/stand up in your future!! That was seriously funny!!! HAHAAA!0 -

I am pretty sure they have the temperature of hell backwards....LOL. Whew that's cold.

LOL fuzzy, with my hot flashes I'd rather have it be too cold than too hot. Gotta stay indoors in either case, but when it's cold I can just step outside for a sec and stop a flash in its tracks.

Hee Hee! Don't say that too loud...the devil will adjust the temperature!!
Oh geez...in my car, I have the air conditioning on and the heated seats on....and I occasionally have the roof open. Yeah, I have enough hot flashes for at least 3 people!!
I keep forgetting to pick up one of those fans like you have. Those ate terrific!0 -
*are terrific....

I have fogged up the windows on my side of the car, and needed the defroster.
I have driven down the road with the "heater" blowing outside air at me.
Can't do that with anyone else in the car, they'd freeze.
Hand fan was around ten bucks through an Amazon vendor, sorry don't remember who.

Well....you and I could road trip just fine: ) LOL

fuzzy, that would be a blast (so to speak LOL)!
Do you like chocolate-covered espresso beans? It's my fave road trip snack.
Heard this podcast this morning on WPR re: Wisconsin's Natural Splendor. It made my day, just had to share!

Badger, I'm with you. Between hot flashes and hot flushes (from my new mega niacin prescription) I'm dreading another summer like the last. This cold is nothing compared to too hot.

I get cold periods. Seriously cold. Was watching the Packers game at my brother in laws house and I could not get warm. I wore a hooded sweatshirt over my sweater, a hat blanket, and a shawl. And this was inside. I finally warmed up.in the 4th quarter. Then I got a hot flash. Ugh. Had to peel off all those layers. so stupid. I have as many cold things as flashes. Just weird.

Monica, I get those chills from time to time. They usually precede a bad hot flash.
The wind is howling as the cold front moves in. Glad I got out for a walk this afternoon.
Market had some gorgeous eggplant so made Roasted Veggie Ratatouille for supper.

Just checking in to say hi. I hear the wind, too, setting the stage for the arctic blast. My hot flashes are better since I've made a conscious effort to not eat sugar. But I was so hot at work the other day, I went to the kitchen and stuck my head in the freezer. I didn't really care if anyone caught me! Speaking of hot...I've been doing hot yoga for the last 2 weeks. I have an introductory month of unlimited classes at Dragonfly Hot Yoga. There are 2 studios in Madison. The room is heated to 105 for some classes, I've been taking the cooler ones ~~only 95! So far, I like it. I don't think I'd like it in the summer, though. Leaving for a ski trip in Feb to celebrate our 25 year anniversary. I'm looking forward to getting away...too bad we're not headed for the tropics! Take care and bundle up! Gina

I've got bad news, and good news. The bad news is I am disabled. The good news is I am disabled! LOL.yep, I am officially disabled. There are three types of disability. 1 where you are expected to get better. - review your claim 6-12 months.
2 you may get better - review claim in 2-3 years.
3 you are not expected to get better. Your claim will be reviewed every 5 - 7 years
Go ahead, take a guess which division they put me in...0 -
Moonflower.. The first type you are the "healthiest" by their terms but have to dance the paperwork dance sooner and maybe in an endless loop. The last type you get to avoid the paperwork end sooner but... So the second is the best???? But congratulations(??) anyway.
By the way... It's NASTY out there. They just called school off for my district tomorrow. While I'm celebrating with the other teachers an unexpected day off, parents all over the place are bemoaning the fact they will be stuck inside with their children all day.0 -
Gina!! Hello!! 25 years...that's so awesome. I hope you have a wonderful anniversary!!
Moon...I'm hoping its #3. That way, you don't have to fuss wit it so often and...girl, we've chatted and I'd say you need a break! And...#1 and #2 are not as exciting to me I guess...am I looking at this right? Either way, I loooove hearing the excitement you have!
Oh sisters...I go to my PS on Wednesday. I'm kinda in a funk here. If he doesn't give me good news (like, this reconstruction thing can be fixed) I will find another surgeon. Ugh. Very upsetting.
I've been watching the puppy that the girls got from their dad...she is so cute! But man its a lot of Work. But, today she cuddled with me on purpose!! LOL she's a blonde lab mix. And, my Baby is getting along with her really well...he protects her from the cats.
Sorry...rambling! LOL0
