    Hi everyone,

I've been gone for a while as I spent some time focusing on my life outside of bc. I'm sure you all can relate. I had an awesome trip to Boulder for a conference which was a real turning point for me in helping me to feel more like my real self again. So grateful for that. But then....I was hospitalized last week with two pulmonary embolisms from tamoxifen. Crap! And the kicker was, I was diagnosed 24 hours before I was supposed to travel to Ireland with my husband, just a trip for the two of us (bought it as a groupon in Feb when everything was yucky here and I was in the midst of cancer treatment...something bright to look forward to). Needless to say, the trip had to be canceled, doctors orders, and I'm slowly on the mend. On twice daily injections for a month until the tamoxifen clears my body, then they'll shift me to Coumadin for 3-6 months. Of course, I'm glad it was caught, but also horribly depressing. The thing is, I mentioned to my RO that I felt like I couldn't get a deep breath a month earlier and it was dismissed. When I saw my MO last week, she took it seriously and sent me in for testing. When the scan came back positive, you'd think they were expecting me to drop then and there even though I told them I'd been on my treadmill earlier that day. It was scary. Now, I'm just working to heal and bring my spirits back up. All this mortality stuff has been pretty challenging. :-(

So, I'm coming back here because I know you all get it. Please forgive my coming when the going's kind of rough...

On another note, I'm hugely impressed with your walking achievement, Badger! I'm a walker myself and that might just be a vehicle to help me recenter myself and move out of this funk....again.

hi Destina, good to see you back but sorry for the circumstance - scary!!!  I hate it when the docs dismiss our concerns.  So glad the MO listened.  I don't come here as much as I used to but keep posting so I can see my mileage rack up in sig line.  Motivation, one step at a time.

Monica, hoping with all my heart that the third time's the charm.  ((hugs))

Doing a Firecracker 5K fun run/walk tomorrow.  (no surprise, I'm walking LOL)

    This week's delight - fireflies!  ♥

Destina so sorry you had another f*ckn Scenic Detour! And NO ONE. Blames you for dropping in when things aren't going well. I figure if we lose track of people, they are just going on with their life and can't face coming back too often. But, I am glad you can come back when you need it. Badger, I love fireflies too. Much love.

    Thanks Badger & Monica,

This turn of events did stink. I am working to heal and to shift my attitude (again). I'll get there, it's still fresh and I have lots of tiny, and not so tiny, bruises on my tummy from the injections. Patience must be on my life lesson list, and maybe openness and trust, too.

Not sure what I'm going to do with regard to further, if any adjuvant therapy. It was a difficult decision to take the tamoxifen in the first place, and I thought I was doing so well handling hot flashes and night sweats (ha!). Not too excited about trying another endocrine therapy.

It's kind of funny (and not), that after all this, they hand me back to my family doc, who I haven't seen in some time, as it's been all the specialists since dx. I'm actually looking forward to talking with her.

I just want to slide back into 'normal' again, you know?

((Destina)) I know exactly what you mean and hate "the new normal".  Eff the new normal.  I want my old normal back.  I saw my family doc last week for thyroid check and med refill.  It was nice to talk about a routine health maintenance issue for a change.  Plus I've lost four pounds since seeing him last year so that's good.  ♥

Just back from the Farm. We had a great time. July is the time everyone seems to make it up there. So on the 4 th they had 40 people for supper. By the time I got there on Friday, most had gone home, but that was why I did not go in the Fourth. LOL. Everything looks good, but it is so different without the folks. But it was a happy time and a begining for a new time. If I don't have your email please pm me for directions if you are coming. Looking forward to it. Much love.

Wausau has the Pink Boutique mastectomy shop and they have a small collection to try on and purchase or order different colors (30 ish maybe?)

I went to Sharon's Wig Salon 13723 W Capitol Dr, Brookfield, Wi. They fit me, after I started to lose my hair, buzzed my hair first. bought some cute hats there too. It took her about an hour to get my wig to sit right on my head, she cut and sewed to fit it. Sharonswigs.com

I bought the wig when I still had hair, so I could match it. The price included the fitting and buzz, which was done in a private area in the salon, next to the wig shop. She and her husband were so helpful.

I also have a list of shops I got from Aurora Health Care . It has about fourteen shops. Also, TLC catalog has wigs, but fit can be a.problem, cause you can't try them on first. I got this list from the cancer care coordinator..

Lanam - I found a salon on the east side of Milwaukee with a separate room for when my head was shaved and then she fit the wig I had picked out and cut it to flatter my features. I would check your hair salons. Plus there was a shop in West Bend where I bought a lot of scarves and they had wigs there too sorry don't remember the name.

Super excited got my last drai pulled today, some feeling of normalcy is returning to my body!

So are the mosquitoes bad where everyone else is in Wisconsin because here in Waterloo they about carried me away tonight!?

Lana and or any others in need.

I have 2 wigs from TLC never worn...just couldn't do it.  They are short style, brown to golden brown.  I wore hats or dew rags so I have plenty of them also.  Just not as excited about getting rid of those because I was going to have them made into a quilt  But now I think.......do I want that reminder?

    Hope all is well!!!!

Very busy here with preparing for my sons wedding in August and being a grandmother to the most beautiful little girl ever

hi everyone and welcome to kad22 and chattipatti.  I'm in the southwest part of the state, the beautiful Driftless Area.  Mosquitos haven't been bad but ever since chemo they avoid me LOL.

Good to hear from you Cindi, congrats on son's wedding.  And being a proud gramma. :-)

Been crazy busy at work but it's all good.  Take care!  ♥  ((Fuzzy))

Saw the pink fire trucks at Froedtert yesterday: channel 6 filmed me signing one of them but did not show it on the evening news (good thing since I was in yoga gear & had just come from a water exercise class). Not only for breast CA despite their color, the national tour promotes awareness and supports patients with funds raised.

Hello to our new gals. Still trying to figure out if I can make it to the August gathering. Will be doing music at church the week before instead of the usual rotation. More busy now than when I had a part-time job!

vin, hope you can. We will have fun. And there is air conditioning. When I have a count, we can decide if we want dinner out on Sat. Or just grill stuff. I will make a strata for Sunday morning. First one up can put it in the oven! Then just fruit and of course COFFEE! LOL, OR, there is a cute little diner for breakfast. Everything will be done as easy as possible. So if anyone else wants to come,.let me know. If your husband wants to come, my.DH will take them fishing or they can take the threewheeler out. Just a couple days to relax. Much love.
