    Hi Ladies,

Nice to hear from other WI women. I just finished neoadjuvant chemo and having mx at UW hospital on Sept. 5. Mammos missed my cancer they think for 2 years because of dense breast - ugh!

Hello peace! Sorry you have to be here. The waiting is the hardest. I hope you are recovering from the chemo, that is a rough bit. Will keep you in my prayers on the 5th. Much love.

Monica, Sorry to hear that they only removed one drain. Hopefully, the other one isn't too far behind. You have had a rough go of it and I hope this is the last rough spot for you.

I take my Tamoxifen at night, too. I have hot flashes every day and toe/foot/calf cramps almost every night. I have an onc appt next month and they'll check my hormone levels to see if I should switch to an AI. I had both surgeries, all chemo and radiation at UW - Carbone.

Carbone is doing a fundraiser/fashion show next month and all the models are cancer survivors. It's called Passion for Fashion and I think it's Sept 12. I went last year and it was well done, appetizers, silent auction, gift bag and fashion show. The program contains a little bio of each model, diagnosis, etc. I'm not going to attend this year since I'll be out of town.

Not loving this heat, humidity on top of the hot flashes! Hard to believe this weekend is Labor Day~~~where did the summer go?

    Take care, Gina

hi ladies and welcome peacestrength!  I had bmx then chemo in 2010 so am three years PFC (post final chemo).  Glad you've got the chemo behind you and good luck with surgery on Sep. 5.

Beth, I've been on tamox three years and will take it another two.  Then maybe an AI, we'll see.  My hot flashes have leveled off to maybe a half-dozen a day LOL and I don't get night sweats any more.  Still get foot and leg cramps but not as often.  The bar of soap trick works for me.

Monica, sorry to hear just one drain out but it's good you're down to 80 cc's and you're right, they won't leave the other one in much longer.  Hang in there!  Third time's the charm.  Third time's the charm.  Third time's the charm!  ♥

Welcome Peace! We'll be in your pocket on the 5th! Keep us posted!

Gina, that fundraiser sounds great! I just might have to check it out! I hear you on the heat and humidity. Yuck!

We'll be moving DD #1 into Oshkosh on Labor Day. She'll be a soph. This year. I just hate this time of year. DD # 2 is a junior in high school, so the nest isn't empty just yet.

Badger, I'm going to have to give that bar of soap a try!

Monica, hoping that drain comes out soon!

Hope you all enjoy the long weekend. Sounds like the weather will be beautiful next week. Enjoy!!

Hi ladies! My mammogram today went well. I took a pain med before hand, so that helped. It really didn't feel much worse than normal. They took 5 pics which the radiologist said it looked good. They want pics every six months. I also asked the nurse practitioner about my cough. She said it was from the radiation and will go away with time. My lungs are clear so that's great. My energy level is going up, I don't think I've had to take a daytime nap for about a month. My stamina sucks, but that will come back with time, too.

I'm in your pocket tomorrow peacestrength! Good luck with surgery!

    How was your appt. Beth?

Hope everyone's having a good week. (((Hugs))). Sheila

Hope the drain situations are resolving! I read that someone said she would never drink Hawaiian Punch again after dealing with the output...

Is anyone planning to attend the ABCD seminar this month or the UW program at Monona Terrace on October 18?

Need more info on those things.

Ok. You know how my BC journey has had a lot of scenic detours? Well.

I got a call this morning from my PS. he informed me my cultures from surgery were clear for three days. But the final reading showed a growth of a bacteria. Not just any bacteria mind you, but a "very RARE BACTERIA" . Oh yeah thats me alright.

WTF??!!??? So I waited all day to hear from the Infectious Disease Dr. No call. If she doesnt call tomorrow I will storm the bastille. Well ill call and ask.

So now when I take my temp and its 98.9 I am worrying. I am just wondrring what the heck I was in a past life to have all this fun???

Oh well. Keep your fingers crossed third times the charm. Third times a charm. Third times a charm.

    Screw unique and rare bacteria.....

Well maybe I didnt storm the bastille, but I called. They are doing a C&S to see what abx kills this lovely little bacterium. I still feel good, no fever. So maybe the heavy drainage helped keep the counts low enough for my body to deal. Maybe the D is doing the same? LOL oh well. I should know if it will be oral or iv and what theyll give me by tomorrow. What fun!

    Ill check out those links.

    Much love to all.

Monica - hope they get it figured out soon! Peace - wishing you a speedy uneventful recovery from surgery. I finished my AC chemo and start my 4 rounds of T today. Steroids are playing havoc with my diabetes - fasting BS this morning was 233! (95 yesterday) so need to talk to dr about that! I'm nervous about T today - hope I don't get the awful bone pain some get! Hugs to all! Lana

Lana, congrats on finishing the AC and good luck with the T.

Monica, hope the keflex does the trick.  Has anyone suggested eating lots of cheese?  Maybe you could take advantage of its binding properties LOL.  3TTC!

Hi Ladies, I'm not in Wisconsin but not too far way from it! I am considering getting some of my treatment at Green Bay Oncology. Has anybody gone here, or familiar with it? It was recommended to me by my oncologist (who is several hours away and therefore not easy to get to, especially in the winter).  Thanks!

hi Macy, sorry you find yourself here but welcome to BCO.  It's a great place for info & support.  I'm in the SW part of WI so not close to GB but maybe someone else can help.

Great day to be at the Farmers Market.  Picked up local brussels sprouts and a few ounces of that new Hooks three-milk blue cheese.  YUMMY!  Will pair nicely, crumbled over roasted brussels sprouts.

Macy, sorry you have to be here. I cant help either. Hang in there people check in here a couple times a week.

Badger that sounds pretty good. Yum.

My kidd were here for lunch and dinner. We went to Baltica for lunch. Its a tearoom in Port. Yum! I had the turkey, cherry and goat cheese croissant sandwich. Wow. So good. Then after a pedicure (my first one!) And talking we went out to the new restaurant. TWISTED WILLOW. Amazing. Locally sourced food amazing. I had a three mushroom and kale pasta stoganof. I started with curried butternut squash soup. We ended the meal with table top smores. Made with peanutbutter cups and marshmallows and graham crackers. So fun to toast them inside and visit eith the kids. Prices were so reasonable too. Fun time.

    Much love to all.

hey ladies!  Hope everyone is doing OK.  Been enjoying the run of nice weather, then the much-needed rain.

Anyone up for a trip to New Glarus this fall?  I'd like to walk the Sugar River trail and leaf peep, tour the brewery, and eat something yummy at the bakery.  Do they still have a Tea Room?

Thank you, ladies for responding! I contacted GB Oncology and they seem great. We'll see what happens next. Hope those who wanted to go on leaf peeping tours get to do so! I think you might still have a couple of weeks to plan; the leaves up here have only barely began to start changing!
