ok. I don't want to type it out again so I'll point you in the right direction. I have posted a seasonal poem on the thread Haiku for fun. What do you all think? Captures the season? LOL

    Much love

Just checked the Haiku thread: ladies, we have real talent in our midst! Monica/Moonflower is so creative (and modest - she actually started that topic over a year ago). Funny ones, also poignant contributions, good reading while I'm on the LE pump for an hour each day...

Back from the Polar 5K and did walk outside.  Sunny and 4 degrees.  Thank goodness for silk long johns!  Also silk socks & glove liners, a ragg wool sweater, a windbreaker, and a fleece hat, scarf, and gloves.  All for a good cause.  No t-shirt but that's OK, they can send more money to St. Jude's.  ♥ to all

Oh Badger, good for you! You'll be at 5,000 before you know it! But now you can cuddle up.

I am bummed. Last year the bag with my Christmas tablecloths and towels and the family stockings went missing. Looked again this year. Can't find it anywhere. I keep thinking that my DH and DD were cleaning last year and threw it out. I am terrified to think that but where is it? I couldn't look last year because I couldn't get down the stairs so well. This year I went down and looked. Also we put out all the decorations for various seasons and didn't find them hiding there either. My first xmas tablecloth were there as were the kids special stockings. I never found any more like those they were adorable. Two dogs and two bears in white and brown wearing pants. You put the candy in the pants. They were so cute. We'd been using them over 28 years. I am so bummed. I know it's just s tuff but it was important stuff. When they were cleaning they got rids of hundreds of my paperbacks. And no, they weren't just thrown around most were on bookshelves I bought to put them on. They got rid of them to put other stuff on the shelves. It wasn't worth getting upset as I was going through chemo at the time so I didn't say anything. But if they threw those Christmas things away I will be p*ssed!

OK I'll quit whining now. Much love to all.

Thanks, Monica!  Bummer about your Christmas items (and books).  I know how much sentimental value things like that have.  Mom's going through a lifetime of stuff and giving away or selling most of it and it's hard on her. ♥

    Hey Ladies,

It seems that the only time I check in is when I have questions.  But, that's because you are so very educated.  gynecologist wants to do a hysterectomy due to cysts found on ovaries and uterine fibroids.  Not to upset about it.....not like Im going to use it anymore.  I just hate the thoughts of another surgery.  Please pass on any information/thoughts/concerns or questions I should have or be asking.

Thanks and WARM thoughts to all of you!   Brrrrrrr, it is very cold out

hi Cindy, I had an ooph (ovaries out) last fall because there was a big honkin' cyst on one of them.  Found it by chance when I had an abdominal CT scan prior to emergency appendectomy.  The laparoscopic surgery wasn't bad and neither was the recovery.  I had it done at my hometown hospital.  Uterus looked OK so the surgeon left it but I did get baseline measurement of endometrium and we will be watching it due to the tamox.  Good luck!

It'll be fine Moon/Mon: I had follow-up surgery on a Friday the 13th in 2011 (of course I now have lymphedema as a result but at least all the nodes taken out were negative!)

I have fear that someone will "help" clean out my basement not realizing how stuff is stored. Those vintage items sound really cute. It wouldn't be the same however you could see about having duplicates made. There are people who might be able to recreate the design, provided a sketch and description. Otherwise, hope you have photos to let the memories live on...

Cindi, can the proposed hysterectomy be done via laparoscope or do they need to open you up? Recovery should be a bit easier with the less invasive procedure. If you are on tamoxifen, getting rid of the uterus eliminates the risk of endometrial cancer. Fibroids are mainly a nuisance due to bleeding, etc. Perhaps you can wait and decide later when it might be more convenient.

Still conflicted about the port removal. Needed another magnesium infusion today. Chemo nurses say keep. GP says keep. MO says whatever. Still needing infusions every 4-6 weeks 18 months after chemo ended. Left side will have had 2 nodes removed and 7 ops. R is 1 node and 2 ops. So conflicted. Will probably have flip a coin. Infusion nurses worry about how I will get more mag cause the don't want to stress my arms for fear of LE. Yes . No. Yes. No. Good reasons for both.

Hey Moon/Mon, how'd it go? There are probably 2 or 3 haiku poems percolating by now.

As far as the port, those chemo nurses are "on the front line" with problem veins (more than the docs!) so I'm tempted to give their opinion more weight.

On the other hand, you might have the superhighway of lymphatic drainage systems and never get LE: I figure mine is more like a one lane unpaved country road that floods when it rains and then turns into mud...

ok everyone. I know the holidays are here and summer is just a gleam in our eyes. But i really want a get-together THIS summer. If you like roughing it we have the old farmhouse. If you like your comforts we have a modern place to stay. Hiking. Shopping in nearby Stevens Point. Just relaxing. We can take turns feeding people or plan on eating out. If we plan on the middle or end of July you can pick blueberries until you turn blue. I was thinking the last week of July. See if that works for you so I'll get us on the family calender. No cost except for food sharing. Bring your own camper or tent if you wish. So let me know your thoughts.and, yes DH and kids can come too if that's more relaxing for you. Golf cart tours of the land and a lake about 10 minutes away. Much love.

Hi WI girls, just a quick update...I had a biopsy 12/6 and was diagnosed with DCIS on the other (right) side. I had an MRI yesterday and have a surgical consultation tomorrow afternoon. My surgeon just went on maternity leave so I'm meeting with the Breast Center Director at Carbone. And I got the call at work, 4 years and 2 days to the day of my first diagnosis, my husband was out of town and I had a mouse in my kitchen drawer. It was a crap-tastic day. The bright spot was that my onc called me that night and told me that this is very early, very treatable and I will do well and be fine. He said he was a little miffed that the Tamoxifen didn't prevent this, I said "well, that makes 2 of us." They are referring me to the cancer genetics folks since this is my second time around. I'll let you know more when I know more.

Monica, I hope you are well! The July gathering sounds wonderful...and warm!

Badger, Have a great trip to FL!

Lana, How 'bout that Packer game??

    Take care, Gina

Gina so sorry about your recurrence but its great that it was caught so early. At least you know what to expect so hopefully it won't be as scary - do what you need to do to kick cancer to the curb again!!!  Monica - a summer get together sounds like fun! Gina - the Packer game was awesome, at least the 2nd half! I had my 2nd rad today and did some Christmas shopping. And have my Mega Millions ticket - can you imagine what it would be like to win that! Take care all!

    aw gina

Crap. That goes for the mouse too. LOL.

But the DCIS sucks big time. Although only 50 percent of DCIS goes on to IDC. Well hope yours is on the right side of that statistic! I just wish we understood this sucker better. Sigh.

Well. You Will DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE to.

I hope you all plan to come to the farm in July. We will have fun.

    Much love.

At least half a foot in Waukesha with ice underneath...

Gina, were these nasty cells/calcifications seen on your routine mammogram? I'm probably making a switch from tamoxifen to an aromatase inhibitor next month. I think I need more estrogen supression than a receptor blocker provides. Also, some people are rapid metabolizers and the active drug doesn't stay around long enough to do a good job. I met your pregnant surgeon in Madison at the annual cancer meeting in October - seemed very competent, I'm sure the others are also.

No family weddings on the calendar for next July so we just might be up for a trip!
