kmmd, the sports guy on the evening news said about the Brewers' loss today - there's 162 more games (LOL).

    Go Badgers!

Sorry, I went to Purdue so could not get into the recent NCAA hype (although basketball is like a religion in Indiana)...

Was working up a sweat in the yard, trying to dig up some invasive perennials that spread way beyond their intended boundaries - some by root, others by seed. Anyone want some pink blooming very hardy violets? Had to come indoors to cool off! Plus give my LE arm a rest.

We went to the Bucks game on Wednesday. Ended up on the "Kiss Cam" :-)

So here's the story...I didn't even know what was going on, as we were the first couple on the kiss cam. My husband, Andy, grabbed me by the back of the head and gave me a big kiss. He later said he had my hair and hung on tight so I wouldn't pull away and smack him or something, lol. I finally open my eyes mid-kiss to see my sweater on the Jumbotron. Here's the shot afterwards. My son was quick enough to grab the pictures on his phone.

That is a great kiss cam story (you might have smacked him?!) How nice for your son to have the presence of mind to get the pictures, I'm not sure mine would have...

Thanks for the Stillwaters info - those early evening meetings are always hard to attend during the week because, commuting from Madison, hubby will often not get home until 6:30pm. Let us know if the speaker has some good information to pass along.

Vlnrph, No, I wouldn't have smacked him! But, I easily may have backed up wondering what was going on. We were at a rowing regatta in Madison yesterday and two different coaches from my son's team said they saw us on the kiss cam! (you went to Purdue? I was so close to going to Purdue, as was my son. It is such a great school. What did you study?)

Onco, that stillwaters event does look interesting. We will be out of town that week. :-(

Had to rescue our thread from the bottom of the topic list (it was in danger of falling down to the 2nd page!)

I've been outside this afternoon but had to retreat indoors due to all the beautiful blooming trees giving me sneezes & itchy eyes...

I was a pharmacy major at Purdue which means I can self medicate my allergies with antihistamines. One sister did pre-med and another was in engineering plus married a classmate. Our brother had to be different so went to UW, in part to save our parents from paying all that non resident tuition. Now he teaches at Ohio State however his daughter is at the end of her freshman year in Madison.

Hi all - haven't checked in for quite some time. I'm just short of 2 yrs from my original diagnosis and I just found out I have a recurrence and metastasis. I'm going to UW Breast Center next week to find out more details and what the game plan is. Has anyone treated at UW Breast Center?

i went to UW Madison for my surgery - I had Dr. Lee Wilke - she was awesome - very straight forward - no sugar-coating - but she knows her stuff. Always answers any emails right away. She was the only one who would try a lumpectomy - did not get clean margins so ended up with the M anyway but i needed to try.

the staff was always very friendly, helpful & efficient

i am almost 2 yrs out from diagnosis - can i ask where you've had recurrence & how you found out? I had ILC but our treatment looks similar

Lana, so sorry to learn of your recurrence/metastasis. Triple negative sure is nasty business. You really threw the book at it with chemo & radiation only two years ago.

UW is certainly a good choice. I would be there in a second if I were in your shoes. Just a short drive down the road from your neck of the woods. The large medical complex buildings can be intimidating but take someone with you to navigate and look for people with name tags to help you find your way around. Let us know how things go and what your plan will be.

Lana - I'm sorry to read about your recurrence/metastasis. I've been going to the UW Breast Center for years, even before my diagnosis. Dr. Heather Neuman was my first surgeon and I had Dr. Lee Wilkie as my second, only because Dr. Neuman was on maternity leave. I wanted to wait for her return but was advised not to wait. I agree with notbuyingit...Dr. Wilkie was great, very knowledgeable, straight forward and very responsive. I've had interactions with many of the nurses and techs and have found them to be very kind and professional. My experience there has always been good and I hope it is the same for you.

Are any WI ladies doing Race for the Cure in Madison on May 30th?

not doing any races or walks - but would be interested in getting together with WI ladies now that the weather, well maybe hasn't gotten warmer :) but hopefully will not bring any more snow!

possibly an overnite somewhere - for a nice dinner & sitting around swapping stories? could be some great therapy!

    ideas??

notbuyingit - I was having bad chest pains so MO ordered chest CT which had concerns so he ordered PET. Appears I have metastasis to bone (sternum & spine), also possibly recurrence in lymph node in MX side as well as other nodules. I'm having a bronchoscopy biopsy done next Thursday. I wish it was sooner - I want to get going on my treatment again as I'm triple negative which is very aggressive. Thanks for your prayers guys!

Monica/moonflower has invited folks to her family farm property in the past. I could not clear my schedule in order to attend but perhaps she might offer her hospitality again. A few years ago some of us met at the Great Dane in downtown Madison for dinner. Oncowarrior organized a lunch in Burlington towards the end of last summer. I'm open to other possibilities for getting together and don't mind taking a nicedrive!

The holiday probably pushed back that biopsy for Lana. Waiting is the worst time. Will radiation be part of the bone or lung treatment? I would be anxious to get started also...

hi all, would love to get together. Schedule is crazy June/July so Aug before I could do an overnight.

Had a great time @ Moon's farm two years ago, we had to cx last year but maybe this year?

Hey Gina, good to hear from you.  I'm not doing RFC, are you?

Lana, good luck Thurs, waiting is the pits.  In your pocket w/prayers.

If anyone needs a good laugh, check out this hilarious video about pets interrupting yoga.

lana, sorry to hear you have mets. That's really crappy news. But I've heard nothing but good about UW.

As to an overnight, YES! My DH family farm is near Stevens Point.(PM me for details) Camping is welcome and so is staying in the house if no one has it that weekend. If the house is taken, there is another old farm house or even an RV. Everybody check your calendars and give me your best 2 choices. I'll see what works. August is probably the best s well. July is usually busy up there for family visits. We can also just go for a meet up anywhere.

    Much love

Hello from the Stateline area - live in Roscoe and work/doctors in Janesville area. The Madison VA had been arranging all of my care in Rockford but then suggested I go up to Madison to UW for further care and treatment. However, this is an almost two hour journey each way (drive, parking, etc) and from what I've heard from co-workers etc my team of doctors are the "rock stars" of Mercy. Anyone heard anything about the doctors at Mercy or are they just blowing smoke and making each other feel good?

Hi tempy! Sorry you are joining our club...

Keep in mind that the Madison folks are close neighbors, on the same campus and share staff/students, etc. so would naturally suggest them first (also, Carbone is the only nationally certified cancer center in the state)

I don't know the Mercy reputation but you could always start there and then go to UW for a second opinion or if things get more complicated. Let us know what you decide to do.

Happy summer to all my Wisconsin friends!

I miss Booyah, but it does seem fried curds have made their way east. I still only allow myself to eat them if I am in Wisconsin or the Packers are in the Superbowl.
