just wanted to update you all. I'm feeling better than I was when i last posted. The pain is much better now despite the tightness which is still hanging around. Good thing is im getting my first fill next week!! some ladies have handled it well some have had pain for a few days after. guess ill find out which group im in after thursday.
I was driving again about three and half weeks after surgery so that's pretty good. Think the fact i was reasonably fit before has helped my body recover alot. Still no potential love matches on the horizon but im keeping my heart open

Happy Thanksgiving for those who celebrate. I am working tomorrow. The staff will bring dinner and we will celebrate together. (we have some awesome cooks) I opted for the easy part of bringing the plastic ware.
I truly had a wonderful weekend with my niece. I savor these moments with my sweet "babies". (they are 10 and 11yo). I have to stop calling them my babies. I was able to see my other niece and nephew when the fam came to pick up my oldest niece. My mini me hung all over me......I do not want these times to end, but enjoy watching them grow and become the little individuals they are.
Off to do........nothing.....hahahaha.
wishing everyone a wonderful day

Melp- things are coming along nicely. The bruising and scaring does fade will fade so don't worry there.
Dinner was a great success and everyone enjoyed the visit to the house, meal, etc. My sister has not been here in a few years and much to see with some changes I have made here since 2012.
One more day with the family. Off to the bird refuge today.
Wishing you all a good post holiday. I am not working today and hope those here who are working have the day off too. But expect maybe Enerva is working as their holiday is earlier than ours......

Hi folks. Posting a few photos from the trip to the bird refuge yesterday. We had a wonderful day there and the family left this morning and are on their way back to the west coast, as I get back to my life here.
Snow geese at the Bosque Del Apache. There are thousands that winter there and live on these ponds.

Field of sand hill cranes at the refuge. Thousands come down from Idaho to winter here between late October to end of January. They can be found from Albuquerque down to this refuge 100 miles to the south along the Rio Grande valley.

A few years after diagnosis and mastectomy, my husband and I separated. The last thing I wanted to do was date but when I saw that he was (and I was so sad and lonely), I tried my hand at it. I only went on 4 or 5 dates (met online). None worked out. One man did come out and say that he had never considered how he would feel if a woman he met had lost a breast. (I had reconstruction. Not pretty but it is what it is. And, he never saw it.) He actually suggested, however, that I should have put that in my profile (been more up"front"). Needless to say, first and last date with that one. The others never panned out either but not because of the mastectomy/reconstruction. My ex and I are back together. He doesn't seem to notice and I'm not overly shy that way. I do believe that if there is a mate out there for you, he/she will NOT make you feel insecure about your look. A sister married a man that was a parapalegic. We all have our issues - physically and otherwise. I think that we should embrace all that we have and don't. If someone can't appreciate you for you (which is not about your body parts), then - Farewell!

Hi fellow Canadian- your story is a good one. I am glad things worked out with your husband. I also think the story about the guy you dated expecting you to put it on your profile you lost a breast is amazing to me. I would never share something so personal on a social media site, including a dating web site. Hopefully that man you dated will be a bit kinder to the next woman he meets who may have been down a similar path.
A friend of mine has been on line dating this fall and said she met a man who told her on his first date he had six open heart surgeries. She freaked out, and told me about it. I reminded her non of us are kids and many people in middle age (as she and I are), have something going on. I think disclosing health information is a very personal decision, and think her date decided to be up front about it on the first date.
I agree we need to accept ourselves as we are in order for others to do the same. Thanks for your encouraging words!

hi all im doing pretty well at the moment nearly two months post operation. Going to be getting back into going to the gym soon. Have resumed all of my usual activities. Still sleeping alot on my back but apart from that im good. Next fill is 23rd December. Am now at 340cc in the expander.

Melp- good to hear you are coming along. Glad to hear you are thinking of going to the gym now too. Be careful with doing any upper body stuff for awhile. It took me a while to be ready to do weights and the like. But getting some cardio going would help you getting stronger and help all the rest. It is hard to sleep on your back for a long time too, been there a couple times.
I learned yesterday my MO, who I was supposed to see for the first time in a year (we did 6 months as we started, and then went to yearly) went out on a medical emergency. I will be seen by a CNP instead in January. I am having a bone density test this week and our goal this visit was to be sure the AIs are sending me towards osteo as it has for some women. I was slightly osteopenic to begin with. I have been doing all the things to help keep my bones strong like taking calcium, high Vit D, and weight bearing exercise. If it is not good, I may have some decisions to make. The apt is Jan 5th and will let you know what happens.
I also went to the dentist yesterday and found my BP is LOW! I am on high BP meds and going to call the PCP this morning to see if we need to adjust the meds. My guess is the personal training and increased fitness is doing the job here. My hope is with some more weight loss that I come off the medication completely.
Hope everyone is having a decent start to December.

BB- well, theoretically, the AIs are supposed to keep the estrogen levels down in our body that may contribute to those of us with estrogen positive tumors. My sister does not take them at all, but her tumor was not hormone positive. I question how much they really understand about the long term effects to the heart, brain and other things. My first six months on anastrazole was really rough. I will be two years on it in March and am doing better now. But I worry about my bones. Tomorrow we do the scan......

BB- I am going to ask them to send me a copy of the report before I go in to see the CNP. I want to be sure I am ready with my questions depending on the results.

BB- I have only had the Dexa scans, never had a bone scan, which surprised me as I thought they checked the lungs, liver and bones for any spread when you get diagnosed. I had a lung x-ray and a CT scan for the abdomen before surgery, along with the MRI on the other breast (where they found the DCIS). The CT scan is what caught the ruptured appendix (even though I had been sick with abdominal stuff for several weeks and no one figured it out). Some day I will write a story about that, but anyways, your point is well taken. How can all these tests say different things?
I talked to my personal trainer this morning about bone density and weight bearing exercise. I told her up front when we began working together about my goals with bone health on the AIs, and being slightly osteopenic and the risk of osteo with the long term use of these meds. She said she has a current client who was at the borderline of osteopenia and oteoporosis, did Prolia shots and it helped nothing. Now she has been doing weight bearing exercise with her for six weeks, and her bone density has improved. I have had heard that keeping up a good regime of weight training can help with bone health, but can it build bone? Apparently so as the muscles build, so does the bone to support them. I am more inclined to just keep a commitment to weight exercise vs. any more meds. I don't care to become a walking pharmacy......
Off to meet someone for lunch and then the Dexa scan. Will let you know the results when I get them!

Melp- good job on getting back to the gym! I remember when I went back it was so hard at first, but just do a bit more every time and you will be back to your old strong self before you know it.
Glad you have your next fill coming up, will that be the last of them or are there more?
Hugs to all the other gals here. Been very busy with work since November, end of the year business activities, and more. Nothing new or exciting, just chuggin' along......
