well today I am off, I have the appointment with my doctor the one that gives me depression pills. I will go talk to her tell her how things are now that I am back and that is all. Then I am 4 days straight in the office and next week 5 so back to full hour :( in a place I don't want to be.

Bb regarding my sister the plan did not change what she is receiving is both chemo so she is getting chemo pills and on top of that chemo in her veins. She was  lying to me before saying only pills. Well she is now in big trouble dealing with more se than before and it's very sad. Hoping the tumor reduce zise but not sure what will happen next.

BB- god that sucks. One thing I realize about the healthcare industry is that they always act like everyone has a bunch of people to help them and we single gals are not always in that place. I don't have much family left and the ones I do have don't live where I do. I had a friend take me to my last colonoscopy apt, but who knows who will be able to do it next time (one coming up in 2 more years).

Well, you have tried and the medical system has made it IMPOSSIBLE to do this, so ask the MO about the new test that is coming out on the market that is supposed to be able to help determine if there are any issues via a stool sample. I have been hearing about it a lot on the news and supposedly it can tell if you have any tumors as well as polyps. Tell your doctor you are willing to do that instead. It is not like we are going to be able to change our family circumstances, we may be better off for asking for this non-invasive test next time. I am going to.

Glad you liked the post. We all need some encouragement.

BB - That's a big problem I noticed we face when we're alone - no one to pick us up if we need a ride, or if the car breaks down, or if something else happens - especially if other relatives live far away, or if we just don't have friends that we feel close enough to that we can ask for favors.  My docs have been urging me to have a colonoscopy, too, due to family history, and I'd be in the same boat that you're in with rides.  Months ago, the paramedics came here and offered to take me to the ER (luckily, as it turned out, nothing serious!), and I had to say "no" because who would I call for a ride home afterward?  The situation really stinks, doesn't it?

E - I hope your sister is doing better soon!

Hi, Piper, Jazzy, June, everyone...  :-)

Coconut oil tastes good when used for baked goods - for example, greasing muffin tins with it.  Yeah, I know... You're all far more disciplined than I am in watching your health.  I do eat plenty of salad and veggies all day, but I should cut out the sugar altogether.

Bb, I wish I was there to take you home. It does sucks that they don't allow us to take a taxi, taxi drivers can also make sure we get in our building if we ask. Next time I will just say it's my nephew he is a taxi driver hahahhaha

Life I can't cut honey I managed to cut white sugar that's about it I still put some honeymoon my coffee and raw honey is ok too when I get it cuz no many store sell it.

BB- I think working would really help you, but also understand you are also not feeling well. I went back to work when I was between surgery and radiation and felt like crap, but also worked PT for awhile so I could recover. As hard as that was, I will tell you it stabilized my life in more ways than I can say.

I wonder if something part time and that would not have you on your feet too much would be a good way to ease into it? If you are needing to wait until Nov to find out about your surgery, is there any place you could pick up some work for the holiday season? That might just take you through December and not be too much of a commitment. Easing into things is a good way to go after all this junk we go through.....

It would get you out with other people, give you something to focus on every day, some money in the door, and more. Now is a good time to look for those holiday season jobs.

Let us know how we can help? Maybe share some job opps with us and we can help you as you go forth with applications, interviews, etc.

BB- maybe a part time job 2-3 days a week would work better for you. With predictable hours (where you know what days you are working). It allows for apts on the other days. Perhaps not something you can do now if you have apts at various times, but when you are past those. I am doing that structure right now with my consulting work and it works well. My two days that I am not on site for the client are very full (today being one of them). There are part time jobs around that are not retail either.

Enjoy your birthday celebrations with your boys. Those sound very nice.

Hello, everyone - Milky, Piper, Jazzy, June.  Hope your day is going well!

Enerva - I was using honey for a long time, too.  It's better than processed sugar.  I just wish healthy foods weren't so expensive.   I used to splurge on things like pure maple syrup (expensive - but a great sweetener).  It wasn't until my early 40's that I began to "snack" on unhealthy foods, and then soon afterward I was DX with BC.

BB - I never heard of Groupon.  Checking into that now...

As to finding work, yeah, I can understand BB's dilemma.  That's my problem, too - arranging a job around all of my other responsibilities and commitments, in my case surrounding my sons.  I looked into freelance work for a while and even tried it out.  Total earnings:  $20.  LOL.   But at least it was better than nothing.  Oh, and here's my current bank account balance for the last few days:  $.01.  Yes, that's one cent.  LOL.  It'll be interesting finding out how the divorce and everything plays out in the end.

Hi folks- crazy busy week but glad to report I have my strategic planning cert done! We finished last night, and enjoyed the course but thought it should have been a bit longer (6 weeks) but also sort of relieved we are done. Onward and upward.

Melp- that is great news on the margins. That may result in less treatment, which will help you to recover faster. Glad you got some good news from your surgery. Keep us posted on what comes next so we can support you!

Milky- glad you got a massage. It helps what ails you. I wish you luck on your midterm!

And there are groups who post about members who have passed and it is sobering. Despite it all being much more treatable, there are sisters on these threads who are stage IV and not doing well. I know of at least one on another friend on another thread who stopped chemo and seems to be in a decline.

Life- Groupons are great to access more expensive things at discount. Discounts on all kinds of stuff. A friend invited me to a rafting/float trip last summer with one of those. BB has found some discounts on plastics procedures. It can save you a lot of money on things to get you to try something out.

Piper- glad to hear you are putting some goals together. I have work to do on that for myself and biz this weekend. Sometimes just a few goals so you are not overwhelmed helps us to move forward. I ready something the other day that writing things down and visualizing them gives them a sort of power that does not exist when they are in your head.....

I was thinking about something today for the folks here looking for some kind of work/income. Have you talked to any temp agencies in the area? They can help do a skills assessment and see if there is a good fit for things you have done in the past or could do now. For example, there are always data entry jobs and if you know how to use a computer and can plug numbers into a spreadsheet, you can do this work. It will be better paying than retail and also maybe easier on your body. You may need to do some research for temp agencies in your area and then start calling them to set up some meetings/skills assessments.

Here is a link to one in our area just to give you a sense of the kinds of things they look for. I am not sure if this firm is in your area but try googling temporary work in X location to see what comes up.

Hi ladies- I had a good meeting today with the city planning dept. about a cool project they are doing. I think it went really well, they said "great interview with you today" as I left, but know the timing is off. They want someone to start now, and I agreed to the work I am doing  for my big hospital client through December. Timing is everything.

Enerva- what a creative gal you are with those pumpkins, they are awesome! Sorry they are still being awful to you. I remember during the worst of my last big project that we all dressed up last year for Halloween and had a fun party. It was the best day I had there in 18 months. They are doing it tomorrow but I am not going in for it on my scheduled day away, which is already full anyways. I am hiding from the trick or treaters too.

BB- sorry to hear the temp agencies turned you away. Fork lift, jeeze. I think one of these cancer non-profits should invest some money in helping women to get back to work after treatment.

And it is very sad about the women with late stage bc who are still raising kids. I have witnessed the losses in families many times when a parent dies and leaves a family behind. Those women must be so scared with what they are going through, and their families are too.

June- a gal on another thread said the same thing about needing some wine this week. Sometimes a bit of vino helps to calm the nerves. I love wine.

Melp - Great news!  :-)  I'm sure that's a relief.  Time to get on with your life again.

Milky - I hope the massage session worked and you're feeling better now.  I hear ya' about the food - I've been enjoying eating food - comfort food - maybe a little too much these days.  lol

Piper - Yeah, a part-time evening job might work, and I've been looking around.  We'll see.  Funny video, btw.  "Stop it!  Stop it now!"  lol  Let's face it:  Do men ever try to protect us?  Or does that only happen in the movies?  lol

    Hi, Jazzy, Enerva, June, BB.

So, ladies, every year Halloween is big in our neighborhood.  The houses here are hit hard.  Our family always handed out a lot of candy.  But this year, my sons and I are broke.  LOL.  Plus, our house has become a horror house without even trying, if you get my drift.  (It's falling apart.)  So my sons and I are hiding in the house with the lights off, ignoring the knocks.  LOL.  Oh, this is shameful.

I hope the rest of you are enjoying the evening.

life, lol I am in a building and kids go to the lobby, so I don't see any, we are ask to donate candy if we can. This year I didn't, today I checked and I did not get pay so forget it. Lol  funny about your lights off. Don't feel bad other neiourgh ll give them candy.

;) so it turn out I worked the wrong hours this past month lol

I was supposed to work half days and I didn't read the paper so my manager never said anything figures. So next week I will work only afternoon. Lol

E - So now you'll only have to spend half the time on the job that you don't like?  That's good news.  :-)

I do have a job to do, that's not paid, but that involves me working with others (long story).  And today I kinda flipped out on a "coworker."  lol   In hindsight, I should've handled the situation differently.  ;-)

Happy Halloween friends (or not)- I am opting out of the trick or treat thing too. I am tired from the week, and also not into handing out candy this year. I think it's an optional thing anyways and it is expensive. I know when I have done it, my house gets a lot of kids, and I usually get wiped out of my supplies early anyways. On a weekend night, they will be out late. Did I mention I am not into it?

Life- I am sorry about your house. Maybe once your other son is off to college, it will be time to sell the place and downsize. You might get some $$$ in the process to help you too? I hope you and your sons can just enjoy some time together tonight minus the pressures that go with today.

Enerva- wow, so the good news is part time will give you more space to work on your real estate career but worried you may not get paid for the other half of those days? The boss sounds like a dolt.

Happy Halloween to you, too, Jazzy.  The trick-or-treaters seem to be gone now.  Whew!  That was a close one.  LOL.  ;-)  I guess you still have a couple of hours left there.

Yeah, selling the house might be unavoidable.  I'm not expecting much money from the sale, though.

I wasn't thinking with my last post - I hope Enerva is being paid for those extra hours!
