moon.... I saw PS today...will be back in surgery in two weeks.  Rt side collapsed so it needs to be fixed.  Will probably pin muscle and skin to rib on that side now too.  You were correct in he had to reconstruct this way bc of all the muscle, skin and tissue I have lost.  I just have to come to terms with my cancer took more from me then I thought.  But I am blessed to be alive and I will get through this.

Hugs purple.  That does suck. Sandra also had a lot of damage repaired. That's not easy! Hang in there you will get it done.

    Much love

I'm having surgery to try to put right expander back in August 19th. My right side looks healed up, I just pray it works this time. I've kinda gotten use to not having it though, so whatever happens I think I'm gonna be ok ;) he's going to only fill to 100 ccs at surgery. My Initial surgery he filled to 600 ccs. Please pray for my mom also, she was diagnosed Monday with breast cancer. Hers is infiltrating duct NOS grade II/ 6 points triple positive. All I have is her pathology report until she sees specialist next Friday.

Does anyone else have a day here or there when you sleep on you TE's wrong and wowsa the pain!  Today is a day like that for me.  I've had my TE since March, so you would think I would be used to it, but I must have slept on it funny last night cause it is really bothering me, so much so that I am contemplating leaving work early today.

Is it just me or does this happen to anyone else, where you are going along fairly fine, then bazinga out of the blue you have a day like this?

    Frostecat,

You are not alone...and it seems it takes mine a day or two to get back to normal!

Lissab, I'm so sorry about your mom. As unfortunate as it is, you will be able to help her through this better than anyone else.

Frostecat,  I can totally relate.  I have a very ornery expander on the left side that likes to give me trouble every other night.  I wake up stiff (frozen shoulder and underarm) and in pain. I think the expander hits a nerve every so often and makes things miserable.  Hang in there!

lissa sorry about your Mom. But as I wanna said, you can sure help her navigate this stuff.

Frostecat, the TE's just do what they want sometimes! I have not noticed anything like it with my squishies though. They are behaving so far! 6 months out.

    Much love to all.

Frostecat, I have a leftie that does what it wants when it wants too. Feels like it moved towards my underarm last night and is now sitting on a nerve that is pinching in my shoulder blade. Can't wait to get rid of these things on Sept. 2! I am flying out for a girls weekend tomorrow so it better behave!

Lissa, so sorry about your mom. Be prepared because your mom will look to you for support and advice. My daughter was diagnosed 2 years before me. Even though our cancers are totally different types she has still been there and offered lots of advice. Really helped a lot! Best wishes!

    Lissa prayers to your Mom.

Thank you all.  I left work early, first time through all of this.  Couldn't wait to get home and whip off my bra and foob.  Took it easy, and made sure to shove a pillow under my side so I wouldn't roll on it again last night while sleeping.  Still uncomfortable (like usual) but nothing like yesterday.

Had a fill on the Right side which has the replaced TE.  I think that's the third now.  Things are going well with  it so far.  PS debated being aggressive with fills but decided against it since I'd not had any higher than 60cc at a timethrough this entire process.  We'll take longer rather than wind up in pain. Left was alone this time so the right could do some catching up.

Don't know about others but I'm one of those who sweats a lot in the breast area.  Still do, even with foobs.  Between is bad, usually put some kleenex or gauze tissue folded over down in there to absorb for a while.  Skin over the breasts tends to get break outs as if I was a 16 year old kid.

Galsal funny thing about sweat. If I am in the sun or at the gym I have no idea my chest is sweating, I can't feel it! It is always a shock when it drips onto my stomach or I reach down and feel it!

Frost....this is my second "work week' since the TEs were placed. Both times I asked to work only two days. I drive all day to see two patients. Last week I had to tell them there was no way I could do two in a row, they had to separate the days. Yesterday I told them today I will only see one patient, and close to home. The bumpy roads are killing me. I clutch a pillow to my chest and drive in tears for hours. By the time I get to my patients I look like I have been through a war and it's really bad when your hospice patients are comforting YOU!

    Bethq,

Not sure if it's better or worse than you and galsal with the sweat... I don't use a bra (which I love) but... I find I can't feel when I'm uncovered!

Twice already, I had a shirt slip a bit and expose some scar! At least I don't have to worry about showing off my nipples!

Same here. Was at a retirement party and looked down to see half of a foob hanging out.

What I love is the itch you can't scratch. I feel an itch and touch that spot to scratch it, but of course I can't feel it so I continue to have the itch!!

So sorry about the pain.  I used a microbead pillow between the seatbelt and bubbies right after surgery.  Most of the time I use it now for protection.

Have you tried some cold over your breadt? You have to be careful not to freeze your skin but it helps with the Phantom itch.

    Moonflower,

I'm chicken with all the skin issues I had to use cold... I do stand in front of the AC a bit and that helps! Lol Also, I've become an expert at leaning up against high counter tops and shelving in public to apply a little pressure to where I think the itch is! Lol

I am having same issues waking up very sore from sleeping on my side too long! If I push on my expander...even just lightly I get shooting pain! And it is normally one side! I have ALWAYS been a belly sleeper so I am miserable trying to sleep with these rocks on my chest! Hopefully exchange will be Sept

Has anyone went and had fluid taken out because of pain?? I swear this last fill has been awful! My non rad side is so painful under the expander. When I wake up in the morning and crawl out of bed there is a shooting pain on that side...sometimes just bending over to pick up something is a chore! I did get a large fill (almost 100cc) but that was 2 weeks ago! I called and my PS is out of town. I am probably not going to get any more fills...just wondering is this pain normal?  If

PS said he wanted to do a larger fill on the right side that was replaced to catch up with the left side.  He decided against it since I'd never had a double fill.  Recently had a patient that in 1-2 days had to remove fluid so chose to not rush mine.  For which I'm thankful!

clyday, it did take more than a week for pain to let up after my last fill. Was it hard for the P'S to push it in? That's what tells my P'S he's getting to the finish line. When he can't force more in. LOL.

I hope it let's up for you. Can you get muscle relaxant?  If your PS is out of town maybe you can call your BS or G P?

Those "phantom limb" twinges and itches are weird, aren't they? My nipple on the left (problem) side will itch...except I haven't had a nipple for nearly 1 year since the BMX. You'd think that would go away by now. I'm getting a little feeling back in the axilla of the beat up left underarm. Wouldn't you know...my next surgery (#5 Sept 19) will be to continue repairs on the left (among other things) so it will probably be completely numb for a year again. ScaredMakes shaving on that side a bit "sporty."  Various other spots on my chest are beginning wake up. It's not much, but I never expected any sensation to come back so it's a bonus.

Purple, how are you doing? Fingers crossed things will go your way for a change.

Moon, how are you doing? Are you still rockin' the walker?

    Sandra,

I get the itchy :-Onipple thing too...I know it's not appropriate to scratch a nipple in public, but do you think I can scratch the itch if I announce to current company that I have no nipples? Lmao!

Radical, you are so funny.  Also can we walk around topless since we don't have nipples?

    Julie,

Not sure about outdoors, but I've certainly done it at home more often...I wish I had the guts to see if it was considered indecent exposure! I wonder if any of our flat sisters have tried it out? I'd love to be there for the argument with the law officer trying to ticket a flat sister!

There actually was a woman who petitioned to be able to go topless after a mastectomy.  She argued that she looked no different from a man.  Here is the article:

Oh wow! On a case by case basis! Are you friggin' kidding me? What do they do present you topless before the town board to see how well your ps did? Jeez Louise...that one didn't call for a blanket law covering all women without reconstruction?
