Good news Fluff!
Special K, I think we will be getting our fair share of rain and storms overnight tonight and tomorrow. Glad to hear you're doing OK and feeling better after the fever. The smallest thing puts me into a tailspin, I guess it's what we've got to get used to.

Hi all...yes, the really bad stoms were south of us. So sad.
Chick....how the tables turn! Telling our parents that they should no better than to ignore the phone. I laughed out loud. Took me back to when I was dating my DH and we went to the drivie-in. Stayed through some storms that moved through. Got home about 1:00 a.m. And my dad was standing at the front door saying was I not aware there had been tornado warnings? Oops...lol and this was before the cell phone days.
SpecialK...hope all continues to heal well. let me know if you learned anything valuable from your conversation on the study. Are you going to do it?
On sizing with skin issues....I went to exchange with the plan to have 450-475 high profile. Came out with only 425 because one area is so thin skinned from the pseudomona infection that he was afraid to try to jam anything bigger in for fear of jeopardizing it. Hence the fat grafting on March 30.0 -
momof3 - I am typing this because the wind/rain woke me up! It makes a howling noise through my pool cage screens and it was scaring the dog. And yes, it is prepare for the worst and hope for the best mentality at this point. DH is supposed to run in a few hours in the Gasparilla thing - he is not sure he is going! Could be pretty miserable.
fluff - I had dinner tonight with a friend that I used to work with. She works for a company that handles transplants and she offered to do the HLA antibody typing on me so I would know what I was before going in to narrow down the sorting by half. I did determine that the vaccines are not albumin based because that would have disqualified me. I left a copy of the study with my MO but that day saw the P.A. so I have not talked to him directly about doing it. I probably need to make a decision but was sidelined by the surgery last week. I would go to D.C. to do it because DS is there and lots of old friends.

Fluff-my mom apologized for scaring me...
DD has what is probably the croup. Very hard to stay away from a 7 yr old when they don't feel good and just want to snuggle.
Hope everyone is feeling good today!

Bogie, I have not had any more scar tissue that needed to be removed. I will be on Singulair for 4 or 5 more months, though.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

SpecialK- It encouragee me to read that despite all your procedures you ended up being a full C cup.You are quite an example of patience in the midst of adversity. About the fever, I made a mistake. I read my post-op instructions, and they instruct the patients to call when fever is above 101. Somehow I though it was 101.5. I am glad that the fever you had was short lived.

Fluffqueen: Will the fat graft give you an increase in cup size?

Mkw....I dont know. For the area that is thin, I would thhink not. It will just shape it better to round it out. For the stuff he puts in the upper pole, it will make it fuller, I hope.
When I was having my meltdown earlier this week, and I saw him first, I wore a bra in that had space in it so he could see exactly what the goal is. I dont want to stick out further, just be filled in a little more. He said it is definately doable, but might take more than one shot. i told him to do as much as he can on the first shot and then I would decide from there if I wanted to go through it again.0 -
Specialk-i would like to go to DC, but cant as I dont have the military connection.

fluffqueen: My friend got pretty good results with the fat graft. They did the fat graft at the same time as she got her implants and she said her breast size increased but not immediately. I guess they placed purified fat stem cells or something like that. I am confident that you will also have good results with your procedure.

Fluff-I can definetly see where it has filled out the upper pole. Haven't been able to try on any bras yet to see what it looks like in those. I still have tape all over the place. My problem is going to be convincing myself to do it again. I am still in quite a bit of pain in the stomach area and under the breast. Not sure why under the breast unless it is because he gave me a "lift". I am very frustrated with myself as I didn't expect this much pain. I sure hope you find it easier!

fluff - I thought the location in D.C. was the National Naval Medical Center/Walter Reed in Bethesda, Maryland, which is a military facility, and I contacted them first. They have study administrators there but they are not enrolling anyone. They sent me to Sibley, which is a civilian facility in D.C. itself. I spoke to Ruth Chamberlain, who is their recruiter. I can send you her contact info, but I think it is on the study thing also. She is very nice, I spoke to her on the phone. I see no reason why you couldn't go there as well.
mkw - patience is my middle name, lol! And I am a bad girl - did not call the doc. I see him on Tues. so I will probably fess up then! I will most likely get a lecture. My PS does fat grafting after exchange - I think several months. He usually does it in stages as some of the fat dies off and some takes. It can take a few times to achieve the desired result. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how exchange softened my upper chest where I had some pretty serious divots after the BMX. I have a bony chest and even fully expanded, which was beyond a D cup, I could not wear scoop necked tops because those divots showed. They are much nicer and softer after exchange.

Wow... I took a few days off and have missed so much! I wish this site offered a "like" button or instant reply, so hard to comment on everything I want to!
Am glad that everyone is doing well, although it looks like some struggles too.
I have been sick with flu. Hard to work, be a mom, and keep up when sick, but better now.
Hope you all are having a great weekend

SpecialK: I also like to avoid dr. visits as much as possible. I do not like to bother the PS outside of office hours unless there is a real emergency. I am having some occassional leakage from the site where the JP drain is inserted. The possibility of developing another infection worries me, but I am scheduled for an office visit with the nurse tomorrow. I have been on strong antibiotics and the site does not look red. On the other hand, I am nervous about having an opening to bacteria near the expander. I an keeping it clean, putting antibiotic ointment and covering it with gauze.
I can see where doing the fat graft in stages has its benefits. My friend also developed fat necrosis, which scared her to death because she thought it was a recurrence.

mkw - I know what you mean about not bothering the doc - but I have also gotten that lecture from him. He has stated that it is his problem to worry about, not mine, and I should never hesitate. I only called him once, on a Sunday - when I was home alone, when the expander came through the skin. He called me back within 30 minutes and I ended up in emergency surgery. It sounds like you are doing all the right things with your drain area. I have had this happen as well, I think it is pretty common. I am glad you have an appt. tomorrow.

Special k...I just went back and read my email and totally missed Sibley. That would save me about 2 hours in drive time. Did they mention anything about where to stay? Wake Forest has a $35 rate at a nearby hotel that is really good. I think I might contact her. It should be a cheaper flight also if I wanted to fly in. Could you pm me her email address?
0 -
Specialk -i found the contact info .
0 -
fluff - glad you found it! I didn't ask about where to stay because I lived there for 10 years, but I can say that the DC area is expensive. I would stay outside the city and commute in and it would be cheaper. A $35 hotel in DC will land you in murder and mayhem! There is a very good and inexpensive subway system that reaches out into Maryland and Virginia, so that is what I plan on.

We are going to talk in the next day or so, so I will ask if they have any arrangements with hotels. That is what the one is in wake forwst. It is an extended stay hotel, but the hospital has worked out a rate for their patients.

DD has viral bronchitis now so no sub job tomorrow either. Gives me 1 more day to heal too. Night and day difference between saturday and today though. Have a 1 week post op tomorrow afternoon but not with my PS, with his dad. His dad is the one that one fill put 80cc in without asking me first leaving me miserable for days.
0 -
chick - ouch on the 80cc fill. I would have been hoppin' mad! That is what I feel like right now with the 600cc implant in the 575cc pocket! Better every day though.

Just noticed my poor left pocket got red again and skin weird yellow spots...Close to old incision, not new one... oh, Lord... Have to go to do Herceptin and echo for my heart, somehow to call PS and insist on seeing me... what now?

So provide me with some advice all you TE problem girls. I am having fat grafting done at the end of March, along with nipples and deporting.
As you know from my recent meltdown posts, I discovered a lump of some sort last week. MRI, ultrasound are all clear and show no sign of cancer, but they don't really know what it is.
I asked my PS if he could look around and maybe remove it while he was deporting me. He said he would prefer to go in through my existing scars, remove the implant, and remove the lump from the inside so that I don't have any additional scars.
This sounds awfully invasive to me and feels like I am asking for trouble.
I think I am going to tell him to converse with my BS (they are very close) and to arrive at a consensus. If they feel it is something that merits removal, then ok. Or, if they feel that the 4 month check up they have planned now is ok based on the test results, then I will go with that.
What do you all think?
This will crack them up as I question everything they do and make sure I am part of the decision process.

Fluff-In my opinion if you are going to want it removed I would remove it now as opposed to down the road. I am not sure if he removed my implants or not, but I know he did a lift on the left side and pulled the right side in. I have incisions on both sides. You are already having pretty invasive surgery with the liposuction (didn't you ask him to do extra). I really don't consider myself a wimpy person but for me fat grafting was a lot harder then I thought it would be. Today is the first day I feel almost pain free. If you don't care about an extra scar and it is somewhere he can get to can't you push for him to do it that way?
Olgah-Sorry to hear you have more trouble.
0 -
Chick, those are some of the questions I just asked him also. I had lipo under my arms at the time of implant, to get ready of the fatty pouch there. It was really painful, but more sore painful than stabbing. I am hoping that is similar in the abdomen. I just don't want to jeopardize anything unnecessarily. They look really good, with cleavage, etc. I'm worried that if he takes it out and messes around, something might shift.
I have 24 days to decide, so will be doing some thinking! I told him I want to know if he and the BS feel the lump warrants that kind of aggressiveness, or if they really think it is just irritated scar tissue, or fat necrosis.

Oh, fluff. Tough decision, but I would be hesitant to have my implant removed. I like your idea of having the BS & PS talk it over.
Olgah, hope it turns out okay.
Ouch, chickadee! 80 sounds like a lot at once.
SpecialK, hope your pocket relaxes soon!
Good luck, mkw1.
Hope you are feeling better, DM13.

Fluff-I guess since my TE issues never were due to infection or compromised skin I wouldn't be hesitate to have an implant removed and put back in. For me I would rather have it done now as opposed to when I have nipples. I understand your concern though. And when I say "pain" it is more soreness like you describe. I just figured out what my pain under the right breast is...I have stiches under there. When i pointed it out to DH last night he said, oh yeah he told me about that....it is covered by tape so I will be interested to see what it is today at my appointment.

Fluff: I can see that after waiting all this time to have the final implants placed, it would be hard to have one of them taken out. If they take out the implant, would they immediately place it back in or would they need to do an additional surgery to place it back in?
0 -
It would go right back i.

Fluff: I trust my PS and BS. I trust their judgment, knowledge and I sense they have my best interest at hand. On the other hand, I would also have them include me in the decision making process just like you are doing, but most likely go with their recommendation.
