Josie- I am sorry you are having such issues at work. I work at home but still know the feeling! I shouldn't but when working with almost all women there are those times. I hope it works out for you, you don't need this frustration.

Kate- hope things are okay for you, I see you moving and "shaking in CA" again today.

Cindy- you are all over the place, good for you! Enjoy your time in the river.

We are having a snowstorm as I type, I shut the blind I cant bear to see it. 5-7", enough already.

Shall I warn Vegas you all are arriving?

Welcome, Tink. So sorry you are here; so happy to be able to share hints.  I used emu oil morning and evening.  Eeu oil, being an oil, does not transport well, so whenever I was out and about,  I used Jeans Cream, which the rads department gave out like candy.  As an anti-grease shield, and because I didn't want anything else touching my sensitive skin, I wore a white cotton Tshirt under everything all through the "experience."  My very fair skin did turn red, and toward the end, I had the itchies, but no real problems.

How many treatments do you have scheduled?

Thank you! Brook side!   I am very lucky early detection and supportive friends and family. I have 33 treatments planned. Where did you get the emu oil? Health food store? I will ask at radiation tomorrow about the jeans cream.

The emu oil was a gift from my daughter-in-law, who ordered it online, maybe from Amazon.  A little bottle lasted all throughout rads and for weeks afterwards.

The rads center also gave out coritisone cream towrd the end of treatment, when the itchies started.  They had lots more options for those who had skin issues, and when I was all finished, they gave me more stuff to use in case my skin got worse.  I've still got it all.

Welcome Tink!  My rad team recommended 1% hydrocortisone and emu oil...bought on amazon...ostrich on bottle...at 14/33 changed to 2.5% hydrocortisone&emu oil and an occasion icing with jeans cream or my girls.  Free boobing if you can...soft cami with the girl out...I had 3 soft cotton camis to get thru rads and protect my other clothing...hydration is critical so drink up:). You will do fine laser tag warrior!

RO now provides free, she was impressed several of us chose i, but at the time amazon for my stuff....always ask team...and I did bathe prior to rads so no residual oil or cream during treatment but I app,IDE as soon as I was done...good luck!

Hi Tink.  Just wanted to add 100% aloe, apply immediately after to avoid or treat burns and though I heard good things about emu oil I went with boiron calendula cream.  Lovely, soothing, available at whole foods or online and recommended by my RO. Drink lots of water, as Cindy said, and eat protein too.  Light exercise will help the fatigue.  It will be done in a blink…hang in there!

A whole afternoon of writing and not one single useful word.  If we still used typewriters I would be sitting in front of a trash can full of balled up paper. Argh.

Well, I missed you all but had a great time in the country with the kids.My parents drove and we rode pretty squished between my two kids for over an hour but it was worth it.Poor hubby had to work but I didn't feel guilty going without him.

Beautiful sunny weather mid 70°.I haven't been down there for probably a year. When we were kids we would go down every weekend. Can you imagine packing up 6 kids for a weekend? I think my parents were crazy. My parents enjoy seeing us enjoy it too. Seeing the kids have fun without the computer. They did Archery , played in the creek, built a campfire to burn brush, flew a kite, swing until the swing broke. Then my son and I dug out the new swing under the cabin, swept it off and carried it back a cross the creek and we even hung it in the tree for them. This was a porch swing.

Oh man Joan, I am so jealous! Great picture of you and your kid and Mark!

Well ladies, am at work with very little time but wanted to pop in and say hello. I am in week two of a planned "break" from aromasin and I feel 10 years younger already! I have to restart it on Saturday Bawling but I am enjoying the break. My BP was through the roof and they wanted to see if it was the aromasin or something else. I go back to PCP for a recheck on Friday morning. Not sure what it was, but have checked it a few times on my own and it was normal again. Weird!

As for my 'boob issue" doctor was not at all concerned and said to keep an eye on it. Said it does not "look" like Paget's breast does and that it could have been hormonal...ugh!

    Ok, gotta run! xoxo

Gigil, I apologize...so sorry for not responding.  My time in Tampa was completely "booked" and I had no car.   (It was DD's business event.) There were events each day and buses or vans to transport. I did not check BCO often.  The distance to Clearwater Beach is about 100 miles and 2 hours or so...under different circumstances, I'd be in the car .Happy

Edwards, yes, very spoiled...Happy Opening Day!

At work...will be back later...early day today.  Yay!

Janis, are you here?  Missing you...

    Hi Kids.

It's only 22more days as of tomorrow, and I am beyond stoked.. I can't wait to see you. I have been running around catching up on errands. Also with nurses and physical therapists coming to the house I have a lot more to do I need to catch up with the weather to see what I can wear. I don't think large pants will work, so I will have to get a few cute summer skirts. Then I am needing to see if extensions will work for my hair. I'vre lost a lot of weight so it will be fun putting some back on. All of that tiny stuff will work out fine. I'm sure you could care less irf my hair looks great. What I care about is that you are all happy. I cry at the drop of the hat just pidcturing seeing you.

Mindee it has been such a long time since I've talked to you, I am hoping I can talk to you soon. I love and miss you more than you can ever imagine.

    Love,

    Mom

OMG I sent a note to my daughter on this website. I had a lot of meds yesterday evening. I have been having a struggle with pain meds and constipation. last week my last stool was Tuesday. Then Wed, thru Sun. I did not have a bm and a nurse couldn't come out to give me an enema. Finally on Monday I got an enema after 5 days. I would say only 1/2 came out. By last night I was in a screamintg pain from gas and cramps. I called Doc and he prescribed a temp dose of oxycontin, and he also prescribed that I take Milk of Magneisia, Miralax and Colace. The O(xycontin took away somew of the pain, but I did not have a bowel movement again today, so I am uncomfortable. Today I have an appintment with the pain Dr., but I night have to cancel, becfause i don't feel well enoutgh to tgo.

Awwww Kate, I loved reading your note to your kids and thought you were just letting us in on your passion and excitement.  I hope you have the most amazing time, you deserve it, and I am sorry you are having another difficult time with those darn bms.  Do what Cindy suggested, fiber, green tea, and walking if you can manage it.  I pray you have relief soon!!

Cindy, I wish I could see those Bluebonnets!  We don't have them in Dallas, not that I have ever seen anyway.  I loved the weather today, it was overcast and warm, but I was in the office most of the day.

    Thinking of you all.

Hi ladies - Just stopping in to say hello. Doing ok but have been busy with appointments and tests and all this house stuff. I finally called the insurance and filed a claim for all the damage from the ice storm/power outage. We waited till the weather broke to start it all because my contracter could not work in the house with no ventilation. What a mess but getting started. Most work will be done when I am at my cousins April 20th- May 10th. They are going to the islands for a second honeymoon and my cousins son and I will be taking care of the house and Sahara...the teenager. I am going to take photos and hope to post when I get back. I have had a couple of shrink appts and I really like this one. She is new because my other one retired. She jumped right into my having so much loss in the last 10 years. Something my other one never addressed. Change is good.

Spring is almost here. One warm day we had last week I got  big surprise with a swarm of black ants marching into my bedroom window. They were everywhere. I have old original iron crank windows that do not seal well. So I called a friend and he came over to help me seal the edges all around with clear packing tape. You should have seen them trying to bust through that tape. Oh I hate ants. I can not use pesticides because that is what started my Sarcoidosis. Pesticides and mold. Anyway they are gone for now. Nothing like ants running across your bed to shake you up.

I have a question for anyone on here with thyroid problems. When you were trying to get diagnosed were you having issues with your temp? I swar I wake up in the am witha 96.0 temp. I sleep with my sweats on and socks with the heat on 72. I was never cold like this before. Just curious.

I pushed the submit button instead of preview....silly me.

Kate - I see you are still having some trouble with the constipation. Darn it. Hope they get that fixed. The weather here has been cold still. We are getting rain/snow this week but nothing heavy. By the time you come this way we should be in the warm stuff. I just tried on my clothers for summer and I have lost a ton of weight too. My skirts and capris still fit but a bit baggy at the waist. I am just going to add a cute straw belt, tuck in my tank and keep a big linen shirt to wear over it all...open. You have georgous skirts so take them and cute tops. I know you are excited to see your family. You are my hero when it comes to travel. I say I can't but you manage and you have more stuff to deal with than me so I will try it too. I am going to Lake Mi this summer and see my aunt that lives there in Grand Haven/Suagatuck area. If I can handle that I want to go to Vegas.I can not fly because of my lungs but I do love the train. My granddad was a chef on the rails back in the 40/50s so my mom always loved them and so do I.

Josie - Sounds like you had a really good time. I am jealous too. Still dealing with the crappy job situation....somthing will change.

Joan - I missed it but looks like you had a great trip to Fl.

Cindy, April, SAB, Brookside - Just a shout out.

New ladies - Welcome to the group. Will have to read back and see where everyone is on the rads chart. Stay moisturized above all and just know everyone is different. I had a hard time after rads but not from the treatment as much as my other health issues. Hang in there.

Cindy, Big D and Bunkie thanks for the support.

Cindy I hope dh is doing well.Sorry about your knee, but 12, 000 steps is still good.

Big D I am going to take your and Cindy's advice, drinking green tea and walking as much as possible.

Bunkie I am so proud of you tackling your stuff. Getting started on the house and visiting cousins is great. Best of all is that you are seeing a shrink, and that you like her.

We have a lot in common, but I just learned another one. I don't like to fly either. I love the train

I am still having trouble with bowel movements. Nurse came and gave me an enema today. Still needed one after taking 3 tablespoons of Milk of Magnesia and one dose of Miralax

I am still alive and well Joan.  I do read the posts and check up on everyone.  I think of you all the time!

Kate my goodness, I am sorry you are still having so many problems with your bowels.  I hope something begins to work for you.  How is the weaning form the pain meds going?  I am thinking once you are off those your system will adjust and begin to work normally.  I sure hope so.

Bunkie I was so pleased to read your positive posts.  You sound so cheerful!  After everything you have been through you seem to be doing so well.  Happy dance for you, keep the happy thoughts coming.  I always feel that no matter how bad things can go, we are tough and can persevere through it and come out smiling!

Joan, how wonderful you were able to get away from the cold and visit sunny Florida!  What a wonderful escape, I am so happy you were able to go.  Thinking of you always my friend.

Josie I am also happy you got to get away last weekend.  The trip sounds wonderful and looks like everyone had a great time.  I am sorry you are still having so much angst at work.  Hopefully something will give and you can get out of there and move onto somewhere that is nurturing and positive.

Cindy, Brookside, Sew.....too many to recall but I hope all is well with everyone.  Also a warm welcome to the newbies.  You will love it here.

I have been having terrible problems with my reflux.  I went to my regular doc (actually she is a Nurse Practitioner, Kara.  I just love her.  My records indicate I have been taking Protonix for over a year and I still have so much reflux.  It has gotten worse and nothing is helping.  We are eating dinner closer to lunchtime and still when I lie down it comes up.  have lost 23 pounds since my last visit in September.  So, she is referring me to a surgeon.  She wants me to have a procedure called 'Nissen Fundoplication'.  I can't even pronounce it!  Has anyone ever had this, or know anything about it?  She gave me a lot of paperwork so I pretty much understand it.  Kind of scary.  All my labs were normal, bad cholesterol too high at 101 but not awful.

Sorry if I missed anyone, please know I keep an eye on you dear ladies.  Love and hugs all around.

Janis thanks for yout support. Weaning off of the drugs will help eventually. I've dropped from 80 mg of oxycontin to 60 a day. By Monday I shouold have accomplished dropping to 60. After that they have me on hold till I come back from Chicago. I'm in a catch 22. Constipation causes pain and the pain pills cause constipation. In the meantime I am doing Milk Of Magnesia and Miralax

Pretty scary, I agree, Janis.  Is this the only proton pump inhibitor your gastroenterologist has tried?  I had to go through several to find one that works.  And has he had you try taking the pill at different times?  Different dosages?  I know you know this, but feel inclined to mention that sometimes specialists have freedom to tweak medications in ways that pcp's do not.  If you need the surgery, of course, you need it, but here's hoping you've not yet run through all the medical options.  Ignoring truly nasty reflux is not a good medical option, any more than it is a lifestyle option, and it is indeed wonderful that this surgery is available, but here's hoping there's an escape hatch.

Kate, your message to your children was so filled with joy!  I know you didn't mean for us to read it, but it did provide such a lovely lift.  So sorry this bowel thing is continuing, and that you're so dependent on the nurse for relief.  Any chance she can teach you to do it yourself? You haven't mentioned your leg in a while, so maybe it's getting truly better?

Janis, poor you....dealing with reflux is not nice at best and you've worked at this a long time.  Brookside has a great point though about trying other meds.  I also had to switch to 3 different PPI drugs to find one which works for me, so perhaps it's time to go ahead and see a gastroenterologist and perhaps a surgeon too, or maybe they're the same person.  I think like Brookside that they have a number of different tricks in their bags than the primary care docs.  so, the referral is a good thing, I think, as I'm hoping they try different drugs first before surgery.  I don't know anything at all about that surgery, just that my gastro doc doesn't seem inclined to fix my hiatal hernia and the valve but rather to deal with it by eliminating the acid.  Good luck, and let us know.

On another note, the good news is the huge oak tree that fell onto our house Tues night didn't collapse the wall or the roof.....the bad news is, there was a giant old oak tree lying at the apex of my roof just at the top of the exterior wall of.....what else?....our bedroom.  Talk about scary!  So, there we are at 10:30 at night with my DH crawling around on the roof trying to lighten the load of that tree as much as possible so the whole wall/roof didn't collapse and me standing on the ground advising caution.  Big help I am!  We determined that the roof hadn't been harmed apparently, but also decided that we shouldn't sleep in the bedroom.  By midnight we're dragging the king size mattress in to the dining room and making a cozy nest on the floor.  This old lady no longer sleeps in sleeping bags on the floor!  Anyway, I got a tree company out here Wednesday and they've removed the tree and hubby has repaired the two roof shingles which got "injured" when the tree was removed.  Amazing.  No harm to the house.  As my DH says, we've just used up about 30 years of good luck!  I agree.  All of this done in time to still hostess my fiber arts group meeting yesterday.  Whew......I'm tired just thinking of all of it.......

Sew, I am so glad you had good luck, and that the nasty tree is gone. Very scary indeed

Brookside thanks so much for your support. Bowel thing is still aggravating me. I can't seem to have a bowel movement without an enema or a suppository. I am taking 3 tablespoons of Milk of Magnesia and one dose of Miralax. My nurse said it will take time, but I will get there. I sure hope so. Chicago trip is only 19 days away, and I don't want to be needing an enema while I am there. My leg is still very swollen. It hurts, but not nearly as much as gas pains from constipation. Thanks so much for asking

Sew, wow, close call...I love trees but with the winter storms and hurricanes I now have nothing large near the house.  It's so nice you have your fiber arts group coming over.  My mom was a fiber artist and fine embroiderer...my SiL took most of her work as they shared that talent.  (not me)  We have more unfinished pieces than finished.  Are you a "finisher" or a "dabbler"?

Janis, glad you checked in.  Reflux is not to be ignored...I assume you sleep elevated?  I have it occasionally and I can see it being a problem.  I agree that you should explore any other options.  I do not understand your pending procedure ...sorry you have to deal with this.  Hope your DH is doing OK.

Kate, I hope you feel better each day before your trip.  Enjoy your shopping...you sound very excited as you should be.  Take lots of pix!

April, I am glad you are having noticeable relief during your AI break.  When I stopped Arimidex for 2 months, my joint pain never left.  Am on Femara now, and just dealing with it.

Bunkie, you do sound energized.  It is so good that you have plans and things to look forward to.
Ants -- UGH I can't sleep if something's crawling...I'd go sit up in another room and fall asleep in a chair.  I have had ants for years - lately not so many - the worst are the big carpenter ants that crunch.

Cindy, I have about 5 more weeks of the semester...then a short break.  Then back to work day and 3 nights for 5 weeks.  Summer starts on June 27 for me, through Aug. 22.
I would love to see the TX bluebonnets...never there at the right time.  My first cousin built a country home outside of Dallas and has bluebonnet fields.  He is the general manager of the DFW airport...and I don't see him much.
    Enjoy the warm weather.

Happy week end....tax days for me.
