Josie - My fault really for trusting him so much. I got a lucky break and the guy who was part of his crew told me to get another opinion about any work this guy suggested. Apparently he was not paying the guy what he earned on a couple of my jobs and he decided to let me know I was being taken. So sad when small contractors need the work so much but if this is what happens I will stick with larger companies.
Sorry about your MIL. She is really shaken up right now it seems and that makes it much harder on you trying to help her. No you do not sound selfish. You are allowed to think what you want. You are there for her and that is what counts. Lets hope your FIL gets better. That stem cell stuff is hard on the body although if you get through it some really do well. They are testing stem cell treatment for a lot of these auto immune diseases like my Sarcoidosis and I think MS is being tested right now. .

Thanks Bunkie for understanding.

Bunkie! So nice to hear from you. Glad BT got contractor thing on a much better road . We do much of our own reno's just for that reason. But it just sucks that they have to be like that & take advantage of sick or elderly. Can't wait for Karma to show up!
Josie Big Hugs. Doing the best you can & that's all anyone can ask for.
Doing yard clean up, transplanting about 120 tiger lily bulbs, in short spurts. Still haven't figured out where to move them all to. I just know they didn't like where they were. Also getting all the cars ready for winter. We SO need a big shed or less cars. I'm pretty sure shed will win.

Redheaded1 - I am about to do a brain MRI also. The last one was when I was already in the hospital. They gave me valium and a 10mg dose of steroid just to combat the contrast. This time I asked for an open machine. It will still be close to my face but not tomb like. I am really clostraphobic and start to itch as soon as I go in the thing. You can not move so I continue to itch. Makes me nuts. The last time they could not get the needle in a vein to do the contrast. When I came out they had 5 bruised areas in my arm and when I left the hospital my whole arm was red and black. The steroids make your veins close off after a time. I have been on them 7 years now for my autoimmune disease. Glad yours is over. They are looking for my daily vertigo cause and all the balance issues. They never find it but just want to rule out any bad stuff. I have tinnitis too. Sounds like a whistle blowing all the time. I clench my teeth but my dds did not think it was TMJ. They just guess at everything now days.
BigD - Glad the colonoscopy went well. I am due for one but unless they hospitalize me the day before I am not going. I get too sick from any stuff that I drink and dehydrate very fast. Then my adrenals stop working and I go into adrenal crisis. I end up at the ER pumped full of steroids and too sick for the test. So if they want to put me in the day before, hook me to an IV and then give me all the stuff plus nausea meds I will do it. I am a mess it seems when it comes to tests.
My BT grilled today and for desert we had these wonderful salted carmel cookies from Great Harvest Bread Co. If anyone has one close to you I am telling you to try these cookies. OMG...I always get the oatmeal rasin and my BT likes the chocolate chip walnut but we are converted to this new one. Ok so the Carmel cashew ice creme I had also helped it. I am going to be sick from all the sugar but I had to. At least they are natural and fresh baked. I have finally gained 5lbs. I feel better and look more normal. I was looking really drawn up and old. At 62 we need a little fat....at least I do.

Bunkie - better late than never. What a bum and a tool. Fortunately we don't have to deal with home remodeling issues because DH can do them. So blessed. He is like Josie's DH - the go to guy for family home repairs. He doesn't mind and they are always so grateful but sometimes he is so exhausted from it all. Long hours at work don't help.
I hope your's and Redhead's MRIs go well. You guys have to endure so much.
Those cookies sound heavenly. DH and I are abstaining from sugar stuff for a bit. We were addicted to ice cream sandwiches - every night! So good. After my Ob-Gyn appointment next Monday I'm buying candy corn- love those pumpkins.
Josie - you are not selfish. It is a very stressful time for all of you. I'm sorry your FIL isn't feeling well. I'm sure your MIL is scared.
70charger - I just love lilies. Wow that's a lot of plants.
Diane

Thanks Diane. I am hungry for ice cream sandwiches.
Actually my dear Father in law was the go to guy for home repairs and projects. I told my DH a long time ago he won't be around forever and he needs to learn how to do it by himself. Little did I know how soon he would be sick and not able to do those projects.
I ruined my DH surprise for me this weekend. They sent a confirmation e mail to me for the hotel room. But I don't know the entire surprise. My DD wanted us to puppy sit this weekend. I'm not sure how we're going to work that but somehow we will. She was so upset at me when she found out we were going to be gone Sat evening. Her boyfriends great grandma died. She is finding someone to cover her shifts Friday and Sat. Meanwhile DD boyfriend has gone fishing and won't answer his phone. She is so mad. She and his parents cleaned his room today. Appears he is a slob. I just wish she could see the light. GRRRRRR...... She deserves better.

She does deserve better Josie and she will figure that out sooner or later. I can relate with my son's GFF. He is 25. Had to back off and let him figure it out for himself but boy is it hard. She is so not right for him. Hard being a mom these days.

Hi ladies. I have been trying to read and keep up with everyone. I really cherish the friends I have made here and always appreciate your loing concern and valuable input.
Bunkie it was really good to hear from you. I am really sorry about all of the problems with the contractor. It is so easy to be taken advantage of and I despise people that do it. Shame on them. Now you can just move forward hopefully and get some honest work done. I hope your MRI goes well. I am so glad I have no issues with claustrophobia. I have had several MRI's and other than being bored they don't bother me at all. Good luck Sweets! Please keep in touch. Oh, and thanks for much for asking about my DH. So far he is okay, he is having a colonoscopy on Oct. 10th and hoping it is clear. The pain in his left side is still bad. He is not one to ever go to the doctor, so when he wants to go that worries me.
Josie Josie! I laughed about your goldfish story. Great timing and good save. I have had cats all my life and know how they think. When I was in junior high I had a parakeet. My dad always put two cats doors in the house, one from the house to the garage and one from the garage going outside. Over the years a lot of different critters made there way in through those doors. One night we went to dinner, came home and the cage was knocked over and I could hear the poor bird screeching. I made it to the room just in time to see our cat Frederick heading through the cat door to the garage. I have no idea how I got to the other cat door just before he made it outside. Intercepted him, bird lived and Frederick lived to sulk another day. You have such a huge heart Josie and don't ever let anyone put you down. You do so much for so many and I hope they appreciate you for it.
70'sCharger it sure sounds like you are busy prepping for winter. We moved to the Boise area four years ago from Cheyenne Wy. Winters here are nothing compared to the long, frigid winters we had there. I laugh when it snows 5" here and the locals act like it is 5'. In Wyoming the snow never falls vertically. We used to commonly get 8' drifts in the same places every year. Often our entire deck and patio door were blocked by snow. I am sure you are used to the long winters where you are. LOL on the storage for the cars. We only have two, but with a smallish 'standard' size garage our pickup doesn't fit. Poor thing has to stay in the driveway year round.
Edwards bravo to you on ditching the sugar. Even though I am diabetic (very mild) I can't ditch the damn stuff. I am awful. After that appointment you deserve a treat. Enjoy that candy corn, and good luck at the docs!
LOVE to all! More soon, I promise. Off to bake a cake!

Janis, glad you enjoyed the story about the fish.My DD is crazy about it. She insisted we clean his tank last night.I said no it's not time she did it herself and handed me the goldfish in a cocktail glass.
Cake sounds good.I'm baking chocolate chip muffins.
Can't wait for this weekend.I don't know if you heard me say My DH had a surprise planned for this weekend. He's got a hotel room and everything. But they sent the reservation confirmation to my email. oops. Maybe I should of pretended to not see it. It will be our 23rd anniversary on Sept 28.

That's so sweet of your DH. Enjoy and happy anniversary. Love the fish story 2.
We are grandparents again. No. 9 - 4 girls and 5 boys. Boy no. 5 born today. Mom is fine. Month early. Baby in ICU but doing okay. They named him Atlas. Seriously. Don't know middle name.

Congrats Diane!! Enjoy that new grandbaby.
Thanks Diane, I'm pretty excited about it.
I am so tired tonight. I even burned dinner. I just can't multi task today. Do you ever have one of those days? I also pulled the chocolate chip muffins out but the little mini loaf wasn't done yet and I forgot it and it burnt. What is wrong with me today?
I was fine earlier. But this evening I'm pretty worthless. I got so much accomplished today earlier like cleaning in basement, cleaning the bathroom. I even went and paid my DD car loan for her. But I was wiped out this afternoon. Like the fatigue after Rads wiped out.

Josie I'm sorry to hear you're so tired, but I'm also chuckling at the picture of a goldfish in a cocktail glass! And Janis that turned out to be a funny story about the cat and the bird, although of course it could have gone wrong.
Today is my birthday, 51, wow. I wouldn't have chosen a rainy Tuesday but it has been a very nice day. My 8 am class threatened to sing and it was all I could do to stop them. My husband took direction well, made the dinner I asked for and got me things I wanted. Very pleasant. No dance party this year though!

RunFree Happy birthday. It sounds wonderful despite the rain. I was in Colorado on my birthday and it rained that day. Living in the west most of my life I am used to long periods of drought. I love rain and miss it so much. I was thrilled to see it on my 60th. For me it was a special treat. Isn't it funny how the weather is so different across this vast country. You probably think I am nuts! Your DH sounds wonderful, I am so glad you had a good day.
Josie get some rest! I think your body is sending you a message. Even if you can't sleep I think scooting off to bed early will help. How sweet of your husband to plan a little getaway for your anniversary. You deserve it!
Diane congratulations on the new addition. Wow, nine now. I just have one grandson. Wesley turned 13 last week. He lives in another state and I haven't seen him in three years. This living so far form 'home' is so tough. I want to win the lottery just to get back where I feel happiest. The rest of the money can go to charity. I just want to go home!!!!!!

Hey ladies!
Great reading about that fish Josie and Janis, your cat story was fun too...lol
Josie, hope your father in law is doing ok...
BigD/Joan, glad to hear your colonoscopy results were good!
Cindy, hope your hubby is doing ok!
Bunkie! Great to see you! sorry about the creepy and crappy reno dude! Someone should beat his ass...I volunteer if you want! I hate people who take advantage of us for repairs. Ugh!
70's charger, you are multi-talented for sure! Doing your own renovations saves a lot of headache as well as money but it is still not for the faint of heart..lol My hubby just changed a dryer belt and he was so proud you would have thought he saved a child from certain death in a drowning situtation...LOL
Diane, congrats on number 9! I am having my first one in mid October. They moved the date up from the end of October to October 16th last doctor visit. It is a girl (or so they say anyway..lol) and I can't wait to meet her. Her name is Aubrey and she and Atlas are on the A list..LOL
Runfree, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY *by one day* Hugs! Many happy returns on the day and here is to an awesome and healthy year for you and your loved ones!
At work, as usual and gotta run! Have 8 appointments scheduled to day in a 7 hour shift. Why do I do this to myself? I have no idea! I am going to be so spent by the end of the day but this is a busy time of year for us and I did not want to make the people wait for weeks for their appointments so instead I skip lunch and see people all day long...when will I learn? Who knows!

April, have a good day.Get some lunch girl!!You sound like me. I have missed lunch a few times before too. Glad you enjoyed the fish story.Wait for it........the puppy story will be the next one. Puppy sitting Thursday through Sat.I think those pups will have a rude awakening. They will be closed off in the kitchen or created.

Diane congrats on the little one.
Run Happy B-Day! Oh to be 51 again. Mine is next week The big 60. sounds like your hubby did good.
Josie After all that cleaning anyone would be tired. Sounds like you over did it.
Justmejanis. I hate winter, feel so isolated. It is pretty with the frost on the trees. It is fun to walk & see the animal tracks in the fresh snow, But I need to be somewhere warm. It's, hard walking around with so many layers on.
I've done very little this week. Monday was my chemo versary. I didn't take it well. Also been down about upcoming b-day. I had wanted to celebrate this year, but friends are out of town & pretty sure that hubby will once again forget the day. On a good note we are suppose to go to car show tonight. Wish it would stay light out longer.

hi everyone! Have to make this quick, and I apologize for not having the skill at calling out everyone like so many of you do! :-)
Happy birthday, RunFree!
April, do you know the song "Aubrey" by Bread? Your granddaughter has her own theme song! ;-)
Edwards, congrats on the new grandson!
Josie, I get tired just reading about how busy you are! ;-) I think the only thing "wrong" with you is you're wiped out. You're a good mom to pay your DD's car payment! I hope you get some much-needed R&R this weekend! You deserve the break, and that's so sweet of your DH to plan a surprise.
Love to all of you!

also 70charger ... How about you celebrate the chemo-versary when you hit the one-year mark of finishing treatment? That's the true celebration! :-) (unless I misread the date in your sig)
But at any rate, congrats on being a year out! :-)
Edited to add: see, this is what I get for reading and posting too quickly (but I do need to get to work!). I'm sorry I missed the part about your upcoming 60th birthday. I had my big 5-0 back in May. I decided to celebrate over several months rather than one big blowout on the actual day (e.g., I had ladies over on a Friday night a few weeks after the big day, and my husband and I took a trip to my hometown of St Louis to visit family and friends in July). So maybe think of some things you'd like to do in honor of your 60th and celebrate them over time with friends and family as your schedule allows? They don't even have to be big plans ... Even something small that you don't normally do but would like to, like hitting golf balls at a driving range, going bowling, singing karaoke! ;-)

Thanks Gemini All good ideas, gives me something to ponder.

Cindy, no worries, dogs get walked a lot despite being seniors and not appreciating the latest heat wave. I often don't think anyone understands my deep love for my animals. I would starve before they would. Both my dogs and all three of my cats are rescues. People think I am nuts, but they are my children at this stage of my life. Call me quirky. Animals are not culpable of hurting a soul, as humans sadly are. Sometimes I am stunned at the joy they give me. I know there are many animal lovers on here, and you understand. I am so in love with Golden Retrievers but love all breeds. I have zero tolerance for neglect or abuse. I firmly believe if a person can harm an animal they will harm a person. Whew....where did all this come from? Sheesh......one, ONE glass of wine tonight. LOL. I think I better shut up! Cindy, Josie, I know you love your puppers! They are so much fun!

Happy Birthday Run - 51 - still so young. I hit the milestone 60.
Josie - good grief girl no wonder you are tired. Yes I have burned things before and in fact just did yesterday. Nice of you to pay DD's car note. We bought a fence - inside for our pups. Right in front of doggie door so they can go outside whenever they want. Worked like a charm potty training them.
Thanks everyone for the congrats on the new grandson. At least they live here. 5 of the 9 don't.
Janis - me 2. They eat before I do and totally agree about people who neglect them. Such precious angels who love you no matter what. They are my babies 2.
You are not weird - you are a compassionate and loving person esp taking in rescues. I wish I could afford to take them all.
Cindy - you are so funny. Several neighbors are Arky fans, Texas fans, Ga Tech fans, LSU fans, Vols fans and us Notre Dame fans. Football is a religion in the south. Went to a Gamewatch last Sat night. Had fun - more fun when you win - which luckily they did.
70charger - maybe he won't forget - enjoy the car show!
Love you guys!

Gemini,Diane, I should of been more specific.I took DD debit card, withdrew the cash from her bank and went down and paid it. I wish I had that kind of money to help her out. But not. She's doing ok but I wish she didn't work so much. She asked me to since she was working.
Cindy you are to funny. Thanks for making my day a little brighter.
Diane, glad to hear your new grandbaby is close. That makes a difference.
I wish we had a doggie door. DH just went out and bought a baby gate so we can gate them off in the kitchen. Luckily she won't be bringing them till I'm off work tommorow night.
Janis I did take your suggestion and tried to go to bed early. Then DD knocked on the door at like 11:20 pm And wanted to talk and pick up debit card. It was almost midnight before she left. Then DH came home in the tow truck in the wee hours of the morning. Uggg couldn't wake up this morning.
DD has a new friend. Well she has been over every night and stays for dinner and never wants to leave then begs to spend the night on a school night. She doesn't want to be home. I feel like the bad guy but can't bend that rule of no sleepovers on a school night. Makes you wonder what kind of home life she has. They are only a few doors away from us. My DD gave her a bunch of clothes she grew out of even though this poor child is older than Claire.

Hi Y'all
Had to laugh my GS tries to pet the doggy on his iPad...so cute...pup now weighs...drum roll 43#...what? Yes, my pup of 16 weeks is growing fast...still gets 3 feddings of 1C but somehow he is growing. Obedience class begins Sat...hope we get As. Did a walk through Petsmart today...too big for small side of doggy park and too small for big side...got to find other means of socializing...well bathtub is entertainment for now. Have to admit I'm counting down the days until my 3 day retreat to the coast...hubby is very scared...hope he doesn't do doggy day care...bow wow.
Wondering how are you all doing on HT...since my bad AI bone loss and Zometa infusion I'm struggling with taking AI and trying to figure out supplements...risks for cardio issues...maybe overthinking all this...QOL
Keep celebrating BDays:))) everyone!
Excited this Saturday is line dance social...dinner and 3 hours of dancing...I've missed all so this will be my first. Practicing and trying to get my stamina ....hate for all the older people to out style me on the dance floor...boots are ready...chica boom boom and bamma slam and a rumba to Pussy Cats Sway...favs...hubby says he will go and watch... Give me a 10!
Ok, now time for tai chi...open close
(((Hugs)))

Hi Cindy,
That zometa has probably done wonders for your bone density. prolia (2 infusions) did for mine. I'd highly recommend 1200 mg of Calcium Citrate (the expensive kind, not the kind of calcium that's in tums as it isn't the same at all) spread out over the day (I get the 315 mg ones and take 4), added to 2000 iu D3...those two things are standard. To that I add 250 mg magnesium (helps bones absorb that calcium) and...the real thing that I think helps the most....5 prunes per day! I kid you not. I read about them on this site. Brought me from full blown osteoporosis from the AI to no osteoporosis at all, even any osteopenia. Of course, that was last year, this year I haven't had any Prolia and have my bone density in Feb again so we'll see........You sure get enough weight bearing exercise so with these supplements and I think you'll do great...and yep it's good not to over think these things which I also do.
