Bunkie, I know when I sold my Long Island house, the agent told me absolutely not to pay for an inspection. The buyers will never, never trust an inspection paid for by the seller.  They will want their own, so the expense would just be a waste of time.  Have you had an agent in yet to advise you on what will or will not bring in the extra bucks?

I'm heading down I-91 to Long Island on Friday. Outside chance of meeting up with Joan on Sunday.  How's about you, April?  Others?

    Dogs and Diane, thanks.

Today was kind of an off day for me. I was nervous I guess about what the heart doc would say . I went to my appt and before I could give an update on my medical history(3 yrs since seeing this doc) they were already hooking me up to the EKG and as I laid there I started feeling faint. My Heart rate went up to 105 and she took my Blood pressure it was like 140/90. I think I was worked up before I even walked in.

The heart doc said I did have some irregular Heart beats but nothing serious and said everyone has irregular Heart rhythms from time to time.He said I'm just more in tune or sensitive maybe. As for almost passing out when they hooked me up to the EKG he said it was probably a Vagal reaction. He said I need to not worry too much. I think he's a good doctor and he wasn't just telling me it was all in my head he maybe was just trying to say you can't worry about every little abnormal rhythm. He said It wasn't dangerous and I didn't need to come back unless I was having problems.

When I got to work I think I was just still a little worked up. My day wasn't great I was back up front on the phones again but this time by myself. The other day I was sitting right next to the lady training me listening in on a training headset. I did ok but I am my own worst enemy sometimes.

Hoping for a better day tommorow.

Josie I think once you relax a little you will realize you got all good news, heart sounds perfectly healthy!  I am glad you did the test and you are okay.  As far as feeling faint, it is not uncommon for stress to raise our BP and cause all kinds of problems.  Deep breaths.....you have had so much going on and I am sure the added stress doesn't help.  Try to relax, you were hired for a reason remember?  They have faith in you and you will do well at this new job.  The weekend is ahead and I hope you can enjoy it and go in Monday feeling refreshed and confident.  You can do this, and soon you won't be new at it anymore.  It takes time to learn everything new.  You will get there.  Hugs!

How is everyone surviving this cold and snow?  Gigil, my son lives in Moorhead, MN and I am sure it is bitter up there.  I know you have had a lot of snow.  We have probably had close to 8" here which is very unusual for this time of year.  Also it is cold, but not likely as cold as everyone back east.  The worst part here is it is supposed to warm into the high 30's later and the snow is expected to turn to rain.  That can't be good for the roads!  All schools are closed so I hope everyone hibernates.  We do have to go get a prescription later.  We have a 4WD truck so we will be fine.  Highs here plummeting to the 20's until late next weeks.  Brrrrrrrrr.

Brookside that would be wonderful to meet up with Joan.  Hopefully you can find a few others to join you.  Have a great time.

Stay warm and safe everyone!  :)

Thanks Janis. I know it's good news that my heart is ok. I just feel like sometimes these docs only hear half of what we are saying.

I hope you stay safe with all that snow. We are supposed to be getting about 1 inch tommorow.

BTW, Wednesday I have 21 bone densities on my schedule. Can you believe that? That's a record!!

Josie 21 bone densities?  That seems crazy.  How long does each one take?  It would seem to be almost impossible to be able to give each patient the proper attention when having to do them that rapid fire.  Wow.  Wednesday ought to be very interesting.  Keep us posted.  In the meantime try to enjoy the weekend and get some much needed rest when you can.  It sounds like you will need it for next week.

We went to the store today and that was it.  Just one stop, I had no desire to go anywhere else. If I hadn't needed my prescription I would have stayed home.  When the roads are this bad I prefer to stay off of them.  :)

Janis, I know it is crazy. And they want that girl from the phone room I've been training to do it herself while I'm standing there making sure she's doing it right. She pretty much can do a bone density start to finish but she is slow and there won't be time for slow. Literally on busy days in order to get my paperwork done for the patient I will start the scan keep an eye on the screen while I'm reaching over to the other computer to do her order. It's crazy. And I should be able to give my full attention to the scan. Each BMD takes about 15-20 min.

Josie, my primary care physician has a bone density on my list of tests to have done. How is one done? What should I expect? As for your irregular heart rhythm, I have that too, and it is worse when I am stressed. My daughter has it more than she doesn't. She got it after a bad virus as a kid. When she was pregnant, she went to a specialist, and he said even a case as bad as hers, isn't dangerous. The irregular beats are usually called PVC's. Certain things make them better or worse, stress, of course, dehydration, and even spicy food can do it to some people.

70's Charger it is snowing here again. I have so much busy work to get done in the next couple of months. Selling one house and buying another. I can't wait to be done so I can head south for a couple of months. At least we will have part of the winter in a warm place. I will appreciate it more, having had to endure some of these early winter snowstorms. If these cold places we live weren't so beautiful three seasons of the year, it would be hard to put up with winter. I love the first snowfall. After that, not so much!!

Bunkie, I agree, get a realtor over and find out what they think you really need to do. I was pleasantly surprised about what we didn't need to worry about doing. Our house sold in less than a month. Thank the Lord for that. We are moving into a newly built twinhome on the edge of a golf course. I am hoping my husband and my daughter will have more golfing time together. They both need it, and I need more time with those grandkids. I had Cole, my grandson with SMA last night. HIs mom, dad and sister went to see Garth Brooks. I had Cole's handicap van, and we went to do a little Christmas shopping (his shopping list). He bought such sweet and cute things for his family. He and I put up the small Christmas tree we have in our family room. We were confined to the bottom level of the house, since he can't do stairs and we don't have any assist devices for him yet. I ran up and down the stairs getting what we needed and it worked out great. This is the first time my daughter has left him alone with me since he broke his leg and became wheelchair bound. His leg is healed, but he lost what remaining muscle tone he had while being in the wheelchair. He won't get that back unless some of the latest research proves a certain gene therapy is working. He loves Christmas so much. He is such a good kid, and takes his situation in stride. He is one of the most patient people I know. He just inspires me to be a better person. I am so glad my daughter and son in law were able to get away and have some fun. They have a lot to worry about most times, and they don't get much down time. I am hoping our new house which is only 9 miles from their farm, will give them the help that we can provide with the kids, and a storm home for them in the winter when it is blizzarding or the roads are icy.

Now I am home alone after several days with one kid, grandkid or another. Two days last week, I spent with my son who is 48 and going through a real stressful time. He had two huge business meetings that involved a lot of driving. I went with him and kept him company and gave him moral support. He was very grateful for that. It gave us a little time together, which we haven't had in a very long time. He has a wonderful, but busy wife and three kids, and he loves them all dearly. I think approaching 50 and starting a new job, as well as buying a new house has him in a bit of a sweat. It will pass. I have been through similar at times. We are an anxiety-prone bunch in my family.

Well, time to kick back and enjoy some down time. Hope you can all do the same.

Brrr...I'm such a wimp! It's 45 here today and I'm counting the minutes until I'm warm in Rancho Mirage at 75.

    April - spot on!

Janis - good to hear from you

    Josie - Yippee :D

    Bunkie - get it SOLD!

Brookside - take pics of the meet up! You will all be dressed so warm we won't be able to is you! Brrr

Joan - how's the night owl! Getting busy for the holidays with family:)

GiGil - sounds like a great condo location for family. Cole is such a sweetheart...precious times GM! Enjoy the quite it will soon be family time again. Ah, how our kids all have bits of us good and bad...breathe. Bone density is the easiest test...lay down on table the scan goes over your body waist to thighs like a sonar sound and you are out in minutes ...no anxiety at all :)

Trying to get ready for our flight. Laundry going...packing just a carry on for the 2 of us and pup in sky kennel. Confirm airport is expecting us...thought of bumping g up to 1st class if I could go down below to check on my baby boy, but it's only 21/2 flight and we are in the first row behind 1st class...shuttle comes early and then there's the dreaded drive from LAX to Rancho Mirage...praying pup&i don't suffer too much separation anxiety.

    Ok, dryer buzzer going!

Gigil, I'm glad you asked. Bone Densities are really simple. You just lay on the table and the tech puts a cushioned block under your knees. We scan the spine and then the tech takes the block away and puts a triangle between your feet. There is a Velcro strap that goes around your foot to help you keep your feet turned in against the triangle. This also helps turn in your hip bones for the hip scan. Then your done after the hips. Sometimes they will do a forearm too. It's really a quick painless test. Easy.

I'm glad you got to spend some time with your grandson Cole and your son.

My DH is off for the entire weekend. We are really thrilled. Went the grocery store this morning and bank.

It's snowing tonight. Good thing we aren't planning on going anywhere.

Hi - am at DD's near Boston. Am here for my Gd's 7th BD party (yesterday).

Up early and cant sleep. Have the long drive back. I have to add almost 2 hours to drop off my other Gd in CT. Hoping maybe Brookside and I can meet for coffee or lunch after Gd is dropped off.

I have enjoyed reading back and hearing mostly good reports. The weather here is so moderate compared to the greater midwest area. We hit 20s and felt thecold but it is sunny so warmed quickly.

Charger I have been to southern Alberta - Calgary and Dinosaur provincial park. It is beautiful with the rockies nearby and rich farmlands on the plains. I remember the bright green fields of canola. Of course I went in summer and it was perfect! Glad you are getting away.

Josie hang in there. They are going to miss you, even if some people pretend they wont. How did they respond to your notice? For the new job dont panic. You have a nice rapport with patients and will do well up front or in the back. Just show your willingness to learn and do ask questions. Do you keep a notebook of new things you have learned?

I am glad you got the OK from your cardio evaluation. I saw my cardiologist Friday and it wasnt good. Up 10 lbs. and cholesterol up 30 points. I have been traveling a lot and not watching what I eat. I have work to do.

Cindy have a good trip & pup will be OK. Do you give a sedative? I jope both you and DH can stay well and enjoy the sunshine.

Gigi how nice that Cole stayed with you. He is amazing and his parents do deserve a break. Nice that you will be closer.

Bunkie you are a strong lady with a lot of determination. You seem more upbeat with your friend being there for you. Dont be afraid to let go of things that bring a lot of worry and stress. Moving should give you peace and more control. Your parents will be withnyou wherever you go.

Hi Janis, keeping warm? It is a great time of year for baking. Sorry to hear about the job situation for DIL and Ds. Stressful times... I hope they can find something soon.

I need to try a nap befire the kids get up. I have 5 hours to drive today plus a ferry ride.

Alice thank you fir sharing your wxperience with lung capacity changes. You are doing well. That is something many of us feared when facing rads. It helps to hear tgat there are things that can be done to help.

April, love thd cartoon! And your description of Aubrey. Sorry we are so vague about meeting up. We will see where Brookside and I are in a few hours.

Gemini - so near but I have my grandaughter and have to get on the road. We will meet soon.

Back later I hope. Am typing on my phone as i cant get on to wifi at Dd's

    Yawn!!

Joan it is so nice you are able to travel to be with your GD for her birthday.  You are such an awesome Grandma!  I am sure everyone was thrilled to see you.  How long a drive is it for you to get there normally?  Be safe my friend.  Wanted to clarify that only DIL got laid off.  My son is safe for now, he has another year left on his contract.  Still that is scary and I am sure that he has feelers out.  It is a pretty exclusive community those petroleum geologists.  He has a good reputation within that community and I so hope whatever is next for him will be something he enjoys.  He and Jen have always wanted to open their own business as fly fishing guides.  He loves Wyoming and the back country, not the tourist areas.  For years they have dreamed of doing exclusive guide trips that involve back country (he is a licensed pilot) to go into remote areas.  He and Jen are both experienced kayakers and he was a fly fishing guide in college during his summer breaks.  He did this in Alaska.  They would be so awesome at this but need to have a bigger nest egg of course.  They are still in their 30's so have plenty of time for their dreams to come to fruition.

Be safe on your travels Joan!  Just be careful out there, I know you have a long haul.  Coffee!!

We got about nine inches of snow here, but the cold is what is so unusual this early in the season.  It was 2 degrees below zero when I woke up!  Last week at this time it was in the 60's.  The 'boyz' love it...my guys love the snow.  Poor Dh can barely go outside with his poor lungs.  Sad.

I don't know if I mentioned that I saw my MO a few weeks ago and he switched my AI.  I am now on generic Femara, Letrazole.  The anastrazole was killing my joints.  I am not sure this is a great trade off.  I am starting to have hip pain already.  Out of the frying pan........:)

Stay warm and safe my friends!

Joan, sounds like you've had a busy weekend. Be careful on the roads. Enjoy your meet up with Brookside. Thanks for your nice comments about my job. I have been taking notes and the other receptionist wrote down some thing to reference to.

Sorry your appt with the cardiologist didn't go as well. Have you tried WW? That is what I need to go back on. Anouther patient thought I was pregnant the other day. She was very old and her husband was in the room so I forgave her but really? I need to start doing sit ups or something.

Janis, sounds like your getting a lot of snow.Brrr... sounds like its very cold too.

My DH just got a phone call from his best friend. They will be in town this afternoon and are stopping by.Well I'd better get cleaning.

Josie I can't believe anyone would make a comment like that!  You have posted several photos of you with your family and you don't look at all overweight to me, much less pregnant!  That is really bizarre.  Being very old her eyesight was probably not very good!  No worries Josie, you always look great in pics and that is supposed to add ten pounds!  :)

We decided to go to the grocery store awhile ago.  Our subdivision is always a sheet of ice after the snow, but when we got on the main road it was equally bad.  WTH?  It snowed Thursday, this is ridiculous.  We were in the truck with 4WD but that is still ineffective on solid ice.  This is a main thoroughfare, 4 lanes.  We saw several vehicles spin and lose control.  We didn't even drive half a mile and decided to turn around and come home.  The store is another 4-5 miles up that road and not worth the risk.  We'll try again tomorrow.  It is sunny but bitter cold, about 10 degrees right now.  We live closer to the 'poor' end of Nampa and I wonder if that makes a difference?  It sure shouldn't but three days out to see this road had never been plowed, or salted......inexcusable!  :(

Janis, yeah that is terrible that the roads haven't been cleared or salted. I'm glad you turned around and went back home. We don't have problems on the road today but just snow on the grass. I guess the roads were too warm that's a good thing.

Janis, BTW I had actually lost weight after my surgery and dads but started gaining a little back after starting the Tamoxofin. I've talked to a few others who admit that tummy was caused by the Tamoxofin. Not sure if that's true but I'm ok with blaming it on the Tamoxofin. I know one thing is for sure it used to be I'd have one or two hot flashes a month now it seems like every night I wake up sweating. I guess that's why you call them night sweats.

Janis, Tami tummy...now, that's a new one....I guess I have Femara flash and flab. I agree Josie looks great...and nobody should ask someone if they are pregnant unless they know for sure!
I can't do WW because it allows all my "trigger" foods. I will get to Whole Foods this week and then restart the low carbs program. If I cut out wheat, and sugar, and animal fats and (dread) cheese, I should see results.

So, in the past 10 days I have been in Florida, DC and Boston area. Exhausting but great fun with the grandkids.
My trip to Cohasset (south of Boston, DD#3's new home) was a whirlwind. I had to pick up my grandaughter in Westport CT which added about 2 hours to my drive. I was up Saturday morning at 4:30 am and on the ferry at 6 am. Arrived early for the party at 11:30.
OK I have to describe what my DD had set up for this Disney "Frozen" party:
Large poster film on front doors. Snow machine dumping snowflakes in entryway to greet the kids with Frozen theme playing. Inside: Full size cutouts of Anna and Elsa. Hand-crafted light-up canvas with "Let it Go" painted on...in dining room was a dessert table in all blue and white - the babysitter did it all and it was gorgeous...they got to select their treats with take-home bags after cake. Anna and Elsa characters showed up and did sing-along, craft, photo session, and cute princess lessons. Each girl took home a photo frame with their "instant" photo with the characters. The party ended with a wild dance party while the parents came in. DD also provided the adult family guests with a mystery blue cocktail and lots of small plates of "real food". I was in disbelief with all she did.
She is in the midst of a separation from her DH but he was there running the technical program...his parents (DD's in-laws) were there so it was quite strange. All worked out and the kids had a blast. I was so tired...
Got up today and drove my grandaughter back to CT. (3 hours)
I was just 10 minutes away from Brookside who was with her family in CT. We actually managed to spend over an hour together catching up on random things. It was a great treat to visit again. We are hoping to get the New England ladies together soon after the holidays.
I then drove another 2 hours through New York City and back to Long Island - I live about 75 miles east of New York so it was quite a trip.
Thanks for the good wishes, Janis and Josie. I made it home fine. My leg starts to throb after about 2 hours but my heated seats and Advil help a lot.

I know I have over-extended myself; but someday I may not be able to do all this so I may as well do it while I can. I am so glad I got to see Charlotte so happy at her party. It's tough at home with the separation even though her dad still lives in the house. Yes, my DD "spoils" her kids but we discussed "spoiled" and they are not really...they are privileged and over-indulged. But they appreciate what they have and take care of their things.

Janis, I had no idea you had so much snow! and such cold...brrrr. Good idea to turn around in that snow. It was above freezing here most of today and it felt "normal". No snow. Rain tonight.
Josie, I'm glad you are keeping notes. You will figure it out after some time on the job. Are you still going in to the bone density job? I think yes, but kind of lost track.

I am thinking of the ladies who have not shown up here in awhile (Lemon, BigD/Joan, and some of the newer rads grads). Hope you will check in. BigD, praying about all those variables you are facing. We only get one day at a time, and each day brings its own challenges. I am hoping for a solution that makes sense and reduces stress. Meanwhile, you have to take care of YOU.

OK - gotta catch up on sleep after my marathon...
I want to post a pic but the toolbar is not showing. I will try my laptop and hope I can do it!

April - that cartoon is too cute and true! Men are such wimps sometimes.

Josie - I can attest Tamoxifen does contribute to weight gain. It's so discouraging when you exercise and eat less and still can't lose weight. My oncologist said some people lose weight- lucky them! I have brutal night sweats too- wringing wet sometimes. Ugh.

Joan - such fun you are having and what a cool party! That's a lot of driving.

Janis - we are supposed to get a dusting but nothing like you have. Hate winter.

Gigi - Cole sounds like a great kid!

Cindy - you are such a good dog mommy!

Okay you guys turning 29 again Saturday. Given I have a child that age it's a neat trick to be the same age! Haha!

Sorry if I missed anyone. I'm behind on the news and travels. Stay safe and warm!

Joan love the pictures, all of them.  The party sounds amazing.  Charlotte is not likely to forget this one filled with so much fun, love, family and friends!  Your DD sure is creative and did a beautiful job with all theme and décor.  I am so happy you got together with Brookside.  Your recent activities sound positively exhausting.  I hope you get to stay in one place for awhile and regroup.  I am joining you Joan on the Femara flab.  My Mo switched me to Femara (I take the generic, Letrazole) a few weeks ago.  The Arimidex was just beating up my joints.  I have had terrible sweet cravings on both these meds.  That is my excuse anyway.  I love good healthy foods but unfortunately also love bad ones equally.  I keep threatening to work on my diet.  I stopped taking my cholesterol med a couple months ago.  I have to go have blood work done in January and admit I am pretty nervous now.  I don't drink or smoke so food is my drug of choice!  My bad for sure.

Brookside how nice of your son to make his home available for your meet up.  You two ladies look awesome!

Joan, what a neat Birthday party for your GD. Thanks for sharing. Your daughter did great planning such a party. How's she going to top this one off next year. How cool her and her ex were able to put differences aside so she could have a great party. I'm glad your home now and how nice to get to see

Brookside thanks for sharing the pics. I wish I could get to Connecticut some day to see my sister then I might be able to meet up with you ladies too.

Diane, happy early birthday! I hope you enjoy. I'm glad you know what I'm talking about with the Tamoxofin tummy. And night sweats. No fun.

My replacement was very frazelled today and didn't seem too confident about taking over after I leave. I felt bad for her. But I can't worry too much about it. I will do the best to let h e r know as much as I can before leaving. I'm sure we won't get totally caught up on things but I've accepted it.

When we were on the South Shore last summer, it was my granddaughter's birthday and I looked into having a princess party for her. I found the company that offered the live princesses attendance. Unfortunately we were there for a wedding and we couldn't invest that much time and effort into her birthday. We should have stayed an extra day or two to make it happen, but I think time was restricted due to work obligations. My sis is moving to a new place in Cohasset, so you never know, we could be there at the same time in the future. I plan on visiting her sometime next August, if not sooner. Not winter, however. She is itching to show me the private beach she belongs to.

Josie, glad you are working the last days at that job. Soon you will be done with all of that negativity. Janis, I am glad you stayed off those icy roads. Cindy I hope you are in warmer places now and breathing easier. It is record cold here in Minnesota. I can't wait to finish all of my work so I can head south.

Here is a pic of my sweet Cole. We had so much fun together this past weekend.
