Well, 6cats, I'd also take the room closest to the conference. If it so happens that you'll be driving, your car also could be a convenient nap station. Just lock the doors, turn on the heat or A/C for a few minutes, then turn the key off, tilt your seat back and close your eyes. My memory of rads fatigue was not that I toddled off to take a nap, but that I continually drifted off while watching TV. You might want to prepare some stay-awake tricks, including sitting near an exit so you can easily dash to the ladies, splash your face with cold water, and maybe jump around and wave your arms until your body thinks it's wakeup time.

Thought you'd like to know: Last summer, a made-for-TV movie was filmed hereabouts. They asked me to volunteer to play Mother Superior. Finally, the film will air tomorrow (Thursday) on EWTN at 6:30. It's called The Journey of Sr. Marie de Mandat-Grancey. Now, they may cut me out entirely, and even if they do not, I kind of think I automatically turned my back to the camera more often than not, but maybe y'all could have a hoot seeing my altar (alter) ego.

Linezolid is sometimes used instead of vancomycin to treat MRSA and other drug-resistant bacteria. It’s very expensive—when my mom had a MRSA colony in her lung, she opted to get a central line installed for 2 weeks of daily vancomycin drips because it was cheaper. (She was on home hospice, and they originally didn’t even want to treat the MRSA, but they realized their visiting nurses dealt with immunocompromised patients and were running the risk of not just becoming carriers but actually contracting it; her Medicare Part D carrier agreed to cover the IV vancomycin but not the oral linezolid).

$4000 for a drug that could mean the difference between life & death? As long as they didn’t demand payment in advance, I’d say yes first and pay or negotiate later. You can’t renegotiate if you’re dead.

A matter of life and death definitely makes the decision a no-brainer. Idk if there is an option about payment in this case but for my husband it was payment expected at the time of service. They would not permit a revolving charge payment. His meds were $3000.

His meds and subsequent test was critical to determine whether he had Parkinson's disease or essential tremors. In addition to the cost of the meds the test itself was $2800 also paid on the front end.

It's impossible to comprehend money or lack of preventing someone from having a test critical for survival but I know several people who were denied treatment for breast cancer for financial reasons.

Hello Ladies, the PS took a look at my chest and said it was mild cellulitis. He said I can go to the hospital to fix it quicker, but I didn't have to. At first I thought about go to the hospital because I have cancer, but later found out IV in the hospital would cost me 4000 so I left. I went home and get the oral antibiotics which cost $26.00. If it means life N death I would go the hospital. But isn't MRSA contracted in the hospital setting as well. I have another question, when I see my OC in April, she didn't order any petscan. I finished rads in 01/31; how long is it to do a scan, and is it required? Thanks ladies.

Houston. Glad you got the meds. If they don't work you can always go to the hospital. Petscans: ...I don't know anyone that's had one.

Huston, may I ask how difficult was the radiology treatment. My partner who is currently having CT (one down 3 to go) is then due to have radiology for 5 weeks. I'm fighting a battle to have her stick with the CT. She is saying she will not have the radiology.

jacksam, for me, the first four weeks were normal, no changes. From the fifth week, that's when the redness sets in, swelling an pain under the armpit and that continues throughout the end. I hesitated to do rads as well, if I can help it, I would not do it. Now rads cause infection like cellulitis that I didn't think it would occur. But it's the individual condition that determines she needs rads whether you like it or not. Good luck.

I had 33 Rads treatments. I had a bit of redness and fatigue halfway through but other than that not bad at all but there are ladies on this website who had serious side effects from radiation. It is howevertroubling to me that sometimes the effects of radiation like lung issues don't materialize for years after the treatments.

It's a tough decision either way. I was so relieved to have dodged chemo I didn't think twice about having the treatments. My experience at the Cancer Center was as good as it could be. The techs were so incredibly efficient and compassionate. I scheduled my appointments first thing in the morning. I wanted to get it over with.

Radiation treatments are much more sensitive to and directed to the target area.

It's an individual decision of course but for me I didn't want to chance it or play Russian roulette with my life or second guess myself and look back and say what if.

Just got the answer to our appeal to BC/BS. Won the appeal. Yea! They will bill us in-network. We were at 100%. Thank goodness because the bill was nearly 6K and we would have been responsible for all of it OON.

Glad you liked it Diane, couldn't resist posting that link since we appreciate it more than anyone.

BTW cute pics of the babies Diane.

April is that the baby that has pig tails? What a cutie!!

Sorry I've been absent lately. I've been. Busy. Don't remember if I posted about my dad but he has been ill lately

My sister was in town from Connecticut and we surprised my parents with a night at the casino. All six of us pitched in $30 and got the room for $90. We thought the rest they could use for dinner or gambling.

I got a picture of Mary and Maisie my granddaughter.

Thanks Josie. Your little one is pretty cute too. What a nice gift for your parents. Sorry your dad is ill. My BIL loves to go the casino. My sister not so much. He is a high dollar gambler. They have money so it's not breaking them when he loses.

Nice family pic. I wish we could get our whole family in a photo but several family members live in in different states and we can never seem to find a time that's good for everyone. We did manage a family photo some years ago that included just my whole family that I'll cherish forever since one of my brothers in the photo passed away in 2002.

DS is storing furniture and tvs here until he finds a rental home. Wall to wall clutter. Thank goodness we have spare rooms.

Weather has turned cold today. 80 yesterday.

Diane, we've been there with having kids that moved out come back or storing there stuff. But our house is tiny and bursting at the seems already. Especially with the baby items she brings across the street for Maisie and never makes it back to her house. Right now I'm trying to sell my youngest daughters full size bed minus the mattress and box spring. She thought she would just order a frame and get rid of the expensive bed and headboard. We got that from Ashley furniture and we paid probably almost 500 or more for that bed a couple years ago. I listed it on a local buy, sell and trade site but the two that was interested backed out. I only was asking like $200 or best offer

Josie - we have a website here called Collierville resale.com. You can find some real bargains. My son's (X)GFF has gotten a lot of baby things, furniture and clothes for her girls from that website. I used to travel around Collierville where I live and pick up things she ordered. It got to be a bit much esp when she didn't always pay me for the items. I let a few things go like shoes for the twins but got tired of footing the bill. My son paid for a few things for them but I am pretty sure he had no idea how many things she ordered. I even kidded with her and said I felt like a Uber driver. I thought it was funny but she doesn't have much of a sense of humor so she got her back up. Amazing how she is defensive and I am doing the fetching. So since then I have picked up one thing and she paid me asap. I don't mind helping at all but I wont be taken advantage of and I think she was doing that.

I think that's a good asking price. I am sure you will sell it eventually. I usually do a Spring garage sale. The neighborhood used to have one but stopped doing it because so few houses participated. I think Collierville Resale has impacted interest in garage sales. Still I am thinking about having the sale the weekend after Mother's Day. This weekend is Fair on the Square in Collierville so not a good time to have one plus I going to the fair and not Mother's Day weekend either.

Sorry April I didn't get a chance to thank you on my last post but my DD wanted my phone because hers is broke so I had to hurry and finish my post before I lost it. Thanks for the nice Comment on the picture. Yes there is 6 of us siblings.

    Diane,

We used to have garage sales to but it's a lot of work. Sometimes it's easier to sell online if they don't back out. Maybe I should of Just taken the offer for $100 instead of the two $150 buyers who both backed out. Oh well.

W have had so much rain and flooding in our area lately, I'm ready for some sunshine for the weekend.

Josie - I have settled for less and then instantly regretted it. You just never know. I agree garage sales are a lot of work for a small profit but at least you declutter. I have given a lot to various charity organizations too.

On the flip side I have found lots of baby toys for the twins at garage sales that we keep at our house. Since DS and GFF have split we have stockpiled baby stuff here as well. I found shirts and shorts and pjs at Target and Walmart for $4-$10. Really cute too. I think my son is totally overwhelmed with a baby much less 2 at a time. He has us now but it's only temporary. When he moves it's pretty much all on him.
