I followed a similar, but somewhat reversed path, - born and raised in the Bx, then in California for a couple of years, but have been in Queens for 30+ years (thought this was a temporary move!), - also a retired teacher!
Stay well and enjoy!!

If anyone is an old fogey like me, and remembers Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen from the mid 70's, you may enjoy this Chanuka adaptation of the song.

Kayak,
Thank you! I am a big Six13 fan. They also do a Hamilton and a West Side Story Hanukkah which you can find on YouTube. The Maccabeats, another a capella Jewish group is also fabulous

Thanks exbrnxgrl. (I'm an exnycgrl). I actually never heard of Six13 before today.

kayak,
Glad you recognized what my username meant! Yup, proud graduate of PS 97, JHS 135 and Columbus HS. Then off to Queens College, when CUNY was still free. I’ve lived in CA for over 30 years but am still just a nice Jewish girl from the Bronx. Love those a capella groups!

Hi all - for those still reading. I was diagnosed 2 months ago with a second cancer. Multiple Myeloma. It has been a hard two months. In the middle of treatment.

Karen,
I am so sorry to hear that. The late Debbie Friedman sang a beautiful version of Misheberach so I send it on to you (because you don’t want to hear me sing it!). Take good care and I hope your treatment and it’s se’s get easier.

I'm sorry Karen :(
Wishing you strength through the treatment!
