Five years ago today, my trusted family physician and long-time friend called me and told me I had breast cancer.  Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be here 5 years later!  But I am - 6 cm plus tumor, 9 positive nodes, Her2Pos and was only able to have  THREE months of Herceptin due to heart damage.

But I am still here!  Thank you all for all your comfort, hope, and courage that you gave me through the years!!  I am so grateful.

5 short years from surgery this week. NED, no chemo, no AI's. Lots and lots of hope.

Five years ago this month I found out that I had cancer in both breasts and four positive nodes. November of 2011, I had a BMX, ALND, and bilateral DIEP reconstruction. Five years later, after having chemo, radiation, more surgery, and 4+ years of AIs, I'm still kicking!

    Hi All,

    Five years out! Age 66.

Check out Metavivor.org. Lots of long term survivors with METS.

I am Five years out from DX Stage 3 with nodes, the works ( TCH surgery and rads) , two years almost out from regional METs. ( Doxetacel/Herceptin/Perjeta combo)

NED until the next CT. Recently sprained both ankles not watching where I was going.

Marched in DC from the Washington Monument to the Capitol in honor of the 113 bc folks who do not make our milestones. ( Stampede for Stage Four...Metavivors) . (30 percent of BC patients become Metastatic.)

    Keep on truckin'

Five years ago yesterday, I picked up a phone call--it was my gyno. "It's cancer," she said.

And here I am today, happy and healthy. It was a long, bumpy road to get here, but SO worth it.

Almost at five. Diagnosed on my 65th birthday. Started on AI, with few side effects. Had mast with DIEP two months later, due to a planned major trip out of the country, plus ILC not usually fast growing. Low oncotype but everyone surprised I had a node involved. Expect to remain on AI several more years if research bears that out.

My five years is up today! Hooray! The really amusing thing is I had not thought about it at all today until just now. Now that is irony. Sorry BC radio, your signal is getting weak.
