Hi All... I have a question about bones mets.

For the last couple of weeks I have had a dull kind of pain in both hips when I first get out of bed and move around and it sometimes feels like my nerves are on edge. The pain subsides when:

    - With movement

    - With rest

It comes and goes and some days are better than other days with little or no pain at all. If I flex my back I can feel tinges of pain in my lower back.

I can exercise, cardio dance, kickboxing and do upper body/lower body ST with no problem. I walk about 30 minutes after work and carry bags on both shoulders... within the past 2 weeks some days the pain is there when I walk and gets better... and ... some days it gets worse... but... when I get home and rest the pain goes away.

I have had no problems with arthritis but I know that within the last 3 weeks I have been carrying heavy bags from grocery shopping home a few times and felt a twinge of pain in my lower back... it was after carrying the heavy groceries that the pain started a few days later but I don't know exactly how many days passed before I started feeling it more often.

I am an 11 year breast cancer survivor as of July.2017... Stage II... I am worried that the cancer may have spread to my hips/bones.

Does anyone here have bones mets and if so, would you be able to tell me:

    - what symptoms you experienced

    - was the pain worse with movement, with rest, etc.

I see my doctor on October 7th for my annual check-up ... do you recommend that I ask her if she would schedule a Pet/MRI or whatever kind of scan I need to rule out if I have bone mets or if this is arthritis?

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long post. ~ Dee

Oh, Babs, what a wonderful spread on your daughter's Paris faves, fashion and lifestyle! I had to smile because she is probably about 10 years ahead of my future DIL who is a manager/buyer for a small group of upscale boutiques here in the Palm Springs area, and just did her first trip to the New York shows and market. I'll have to show her this so we can drool over it together; maybe even put her in touch with your daughter in the future. I'm smiling ear-to-ear because your daughter is so classy and beautiful and living her dream!

Chelle, great picture of Wendy! Thanks for sharing it. And Jen, such a beautiful photo of you and your handsome son! How wonderful that you were able to show him where you lived, etc. Hope he enjoyed he. He sure looks like he did!

    Hi All,

Babs, I want to go to Paris right now and go to all the great places your daughter has mentioned!

Good News.........Today the FDA approved abemaciclib, also called Verzenio for ER+ It is a sister drug to Ibrance. Since Ibrance failed me, I just finished CT and MRI scans, and will see MO on Monday for new options. In the running is Xeloda. I'm excited that we have another drug to choose from but not sure I'm a candidate if Ibrance didn't work.

Gracie, You should be fine having a crown put back on without much trouble. That happened to me a few years ago and They put it right back on.

Lindalou- see the Ibrance thread- Cure-ious said that the abemiciclib works a little differently and could be used after failure with Ibrance. Also could be used without a hormonal. Worth checking out.

Starting Ibrance tomorrow at 75 dosage due to bone marrow problem. Thrilled to hear about this new drug.. that neutropenia may be less.

Does anyone have suggestions on time of day. It it better to take morning or evening?

Babs your daughter is lovely. How delightful to live in Paris.

Hope all have a relaxing weekend

Maire67- I take mine with dinner. The first cycle I felt tired and nauseated and not good after I took it- so wanted to sleep through most of that. I did take a walk after dinner which helped. That was 125 mg. I'm now on 100mg and really don't usually notice much after I take it- so could switch to morning or lunch. You must take it with food. Some people get insomnia when they take it at night

the pharmD wanted me to take with dinner in case they wanted to change something when they got blood work and would know that I hadn't taken it yet- I really don't thing that that is an issue anymore. I may switch to morning with next cycle. I am keeping a daily journal of SE I notice just to help with those kinds of decisions. Good Luck!

My mom, who is now 83, was diagnosed with breast cancer 17 1/2 years ago. Last September after having pain in her back that wouldn't go away, the doctor gave her a PET scan which showed she had bone mets/Stage IV. The cancer is only in her bones but it is in many places. The oncologist put her on a drug regime of Femara and Xigiva for six months but found the Femara was not effective. Also, she had many treatments of radiation for pain.

Since the Femara was not effective, she is now on Embrace and Flaxocil. With the Ebrance she has gone from 250mg to 75mg because it made her too tired and wiped out her white and red blood count. Initially, for the first two months, she was handling it okay.. But now the issue is -- she is tired, weak, sits in the house most of the day and sleeps. When I hear her voice on the phone, because I live away from her, it is so weak. On top of that, she needs to be on oxycodin for pain and takes them three times a day. I'm not sure if the drugs are making her better or worse and I'm not sure what to do or who to ask. The doctor said that he felt the drugs were effective because her recent bone scan showed that there was no new growth - so that was good, but her overall quality of life has gone way down in the past two months. If the cancer has not spread and is the same, why is she suddenly so weak? Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Thank you

thanks nkb. Like the journal idea. Will try first round in the evening although taking a walk after dinner is fine now in NJ. Not so good in Dec thru Feb.

OK total freak out time! Was supposed to go in on Monday and have this crown sealed back down so tonight was having rice and milk for supper thought I was having something easy. This whole dang thing just came out of my mouth the crownand everything that was underneath it and this long white thing that was sticking down inside the tooth literally I took a bite of rice and milk and the whole thing came out. I am so freaking out! My dentist is supposed to call me back and The oncologist on call called me and said they could call him if they had any questions. Dang I'm like how the heck does that happen. Boy I wish I had somebody living here with me and I weren't alone !!!!

Gracie, take some deep breaths! It's stressful, but you've gotten through worse things than a crown coming off a tooth, and you will get through this too. Can you place the crown back on the tooth? That seems to be the first recommendation I could find, if it's possible.

Here's what one website suggests: If you do have the crown, it's a good idea to temporarily place your crown back on your tooth, using some over the counter dental cream. You can find it at your local drugstore. You can also use a small daub of toothpaste. Before you use the denture cream, be sure to carefully examine the crown to determine the correct way it's supposed to fit on your tooth. Test the fit before applying any cream. If the crown is on your tooth correctly, it should feel right when you bite down. Don't bite too hard, though, or you may damage your crown.

And here's another link that has some helpful suggestions: https://www.dentist.net/pages/cap-crown

And here are more ideas: http://www.colgate.com/en/us/oc/oral-health/condit...

Hopefully your dentist will call you back and make arrangements to see you. If not, I might look in the phone book and see if you can find a dentist that offers emergency service, especially if you are in pain.

So sorry that happened to you. Please keep us posted and let us know if your dentist calls back! Hugs, Deanna

Thanks Deanna! I called Micmel and she helped too. It's more than just the crown though. It's the whole inside of everything they put in that tooth including the white stem that goes down into the root for the root canal. So basically the entire thing. Yes I am really trying to breathe 😊 Thanks so much!!! Hugs!!!

Hang in there Gracie! I don't think you mentioned being in pain so that is a really good thing. If you are in pain and you don't hear back from your dentist then perhaps your on call oncologist can recommend someone. Or as Deanna suggested go to the phone book. But I'm sure you will hear from your dentist. I'm so sorry you are alone. I know it is so much harder to deal with all of this on your own. Try to keep your mind occupied. Distract yourself with a movie. Personally I like to go on on youtube and watch funny baby videos or doggy videos or babies with doggies videos. They are a hoot! ((HUGS

GracieM2007 , How are you doing? Has the dentist contacted you? I hope someone came to your rescue! I have had a crown come off, but not the post and all. The last thing I want to do is make you nervous, but If I were you, I would not try to put the crown back in place. It's hard to hold onto a crown and put it in place, and if you do, you could drop it and and things could get worse.

yes I could not have even begun to get it all back in place because of that long post, and it wouldn't have stayed. My tooth was already bleeding and I didn't want to make that worse. My dentist is meeting me this morning to look at it all and see what can be done. He said, if nothing else, he'll pack it and seal it all off until I can get off the XGeva long enough that they can do something. He also said is the tooth has to come out they will send me to a surgeon who has experience with working with biphosphonates (sp?)

Hi all... I dodged a bullet yesterday plus had a terrible heartbreaking experience. I had an appointment with my onc and during the exam she found a very swollen and tender clavicle lymph node. It was time for my PET scan so we scheduled it and I got an appointment the next week (Thursday). Had the scan and the radiologists didn't read it before my appointment with my onc, so we agreed that she would call me when she heard the results. She called right at 9am yesterday morning and told me the good news - that swollen node had not transmitted the cancer through more of my body. Yay! Less than five minutes later, one of my dogs fell off her bed onto the hardwood floor and was having a grand mal seizure. Long story short, I got someone to help me load her into the car (she was 80 pounds) got her to the vet. She was still seizing (for over two hours by then), so we let her go after considering her age (elderly) and her general physical condition (not the best). So my good news was eclipsed by the loss of a dog I dearly loved.

I'm VERY happy to continue having an affair with the stable boi, and VERY sad to have lot such a beloved dog. Fly free, Effe.
