Remember that anesthesia is powerful stuff. I think causes sluggishness. I don't even want to get my nipples done because of that stuff, lol.

I was super pissed for a long time...and I was no where near as healthy as you. But 30 year olds aren't supposed to get breast cancer and that made me angry. You will go through all the emotions. My mom had DCIS in her 40's and has been cancer free for 16ish years and still gets pissed off.

Omg you are right 30 year olds are not! And to think those morons want us to get mamms every two years.

I work for a very large health insurance company and we believe that wellness works, so they are all about the preventive care.

Question for you...do they do the nipples the same time as the exchange, or is it another separate procedure?

  • markat
    markat Member Posts: 502

No it's usually a separate procedure. They usually want you to wait 3 months to make sure everything is settled and where it's supposed to be.

    Hi fellow Hermits,

I just couldn't stay away from your thread and I think I qualify for hermit status! I had to go out to a small gathering last night for the first time since my ooph. surgery and I really just didn't want to. My hair is about 2 inches but extremely curly and looks less than one inch so there is no mistake I am poster bc girl. Well most our friends are soccer related as both my kids play soccer, but my freinds other two kids are cheerleaders, so last night was cheer moms night, really should have stayed home.... Left early and cranked up the old tv, much better!

October was terrible I was just about to explode all month, now this month is my one year cancerversary. Went to MO this month just emotionally fragile and told him how everyone I talk to asks me that I'm cured right? I don't know how to answer, mostly say yes, but MO never said that. I asked him point blank am I cured, he said I will be under observation for 5 years before he will say cured NED. Well that really makes me feel better, not. Well just a vent, looking forward to Christmas this year, last year I was doing chemo so I just went through the motions. Thanks for the hermit club, cause I really don't want to go out!

Loving the Christmas movies starting already!

I read this on another thread on this board...so I cannot take credit but it is a snappy come back the "are you cured" question.

I will know I'm cured when I die from something else.

    That should shut people up.

I have to make jokes because otherwise it would be a pity party. So I stole this one too...

My neighbor, a friend, said wow you look great.

I said well the cancer was in my boob, not my face.

We both laughed our butts off.

    😄

Welcome Flislander. Now we have two FL's!

Our hermit group is expanding. All the new faces- new hermits, old hermits, quasi hermits, socialphobes, people haters, Christmas letter burners, pink haters, email'ers, funny cat picture lovers, aliens, Anne Hathaway haters, teachers, film industry people... We accept and support all here.

  • Stormynyte
    Stormynyte Member Posts: 179

Ha Markat, funny you would put people haters. I snagged Cams pic that say "why do I hate people. Oh yeah, because of everything" and put it on my facebook. My aunt commented on it with "Keep your chin up, It will get better." I started to type a rotten reply, but deleted it.

I get a port tomorrow, start chemo on the 19th and I'm stage IV...I don't think she understands why "It'll get better" just sounds stupid to me right now.

My only contact with people is facebook, I'm a hard core hermit Lol, but geesh, even there they make me want to yell.

I agree I'm pissed Anne Hatheway looks like that with short hair! Actresses are not making the short hairstyle any easier.

  • markat
    markat Member Posts: 502

Ugh, Stormy. People say super dumb things, me included. I hate FB. I almost deleted my account after the election. Serious crazies imploding all over the place. I hope your port surgery goes well and you have little pain.

I have a friend that was bugging me about going out Saturday night. People *know* that I don't go out unless there is a fire chasing me or one of my kids. So this morning I texted her and asked her how the night was. She said "it was okay, blah blah, could have been better, blah blah, I hate myself, I'm so fat, blah blah." I suggested that she see a therapist...she hasn't texted me back. Geeze, what did I say Foot in Mouth

    Anne Hathaway can kick rocks.seriously.now.

I should be folding laundry, thinking about how to better communicate with real people using the spoken language, and probably taking a shower.

Cyndie That's why we start Christmas eve ITALIAN we're still following tradition. But we celebrat the next day too. Of course the energy leve has changed but I still love it.

Stormy port tomorrow? Ok it's all right to do and chemo the 19th  I truly hope it goes well for u--u have to always tell us how it's going so we can help in some way even if it's Markat making u laugh----The pressures on u Markat.

I saw my onc this morn. and I see my Card. this afternoon--I'm glad I'm getting this all over with today.

BTW my onc. found  lump on mu rib so I'll get a scan--so I told her how much I liked her hair and that's how I want mine cut--I have a pic. here somewhere so I'll show my DD but she had thick hair mine is thinner on top--Thanks chemo. markat Member Posts: 502

Camille- is lump where you've been feeling the pain? I'm glad you found a hairstyle you like.

Mine is still just sticking out everywhere and slightly longer in the back. Business in the front...party in the back, aka a mullet or like a Canadian hockey player's hair Innocent

Darnit Whaevah, I knew I forgot something...pole dancer.

Stormy, how are your pole dancing skills? Whaevah, Kltb, me, and now Omeggo and anyone I'm leaving out are like the Pussy Cat Dolls of chemo. It's hot...(not really, well maybe for Omeggo, she is a professional body workout person).

  • camillegal
    camillegal Member Posts: 15,711

Markat it's not where my pain is--WTF It's doesn't really hurt just when she pressed on it--so this is new  cuz it wasn't there a couple of months ago???? Just another BUMP (LOL) in our road of terror. hahaah--but I'm not worried about it at all--really.

Well I'll be leaving soon for the Dr. and I'll let u know how that went--I'm just tired so can't wait to get home and comfy. Abd it's cold out here now so good comfy weather. I'm going to the store after I need a few things so then I'll be set to non-socialize again for a while LOL

You all (in Florideze:  y'all) are pretty darn funny.  I'm from CA but live here in FL, which I truly love (west coast of FL).   I think I already have written that (how funny y'all are).

Do you know, just NOW, like two minutes ago, I finally GOT the pole dancer joke?  All this time, I wasn't really sure what you (whoever) was referring to...needless to say, my imagination DID go wild, just for quite a while, if I be honest.  And no, I don't bodybuild professionally.  Just did a couple of amateur shows.  It was a blast. I'd like to do another one next year.  There's an open Master's Competition (Figure) in PA next July.  That would be so great. I have a friend who suggested we do that together when I met with her in August, right before my surgery.  Right after that, she totally blew out her knee.  "Man plans, God laughs"  as they say.

I have a question, since this thread is full of all kinds of important information and definitions.  What does WTF mean?  Is it what I think it means?  And what is ROML or whatever?  I've never had the nerve until now to ask.  I'm in an altered state...chemo #2 is tomorrow and I admit to having some jitters.  This last week I have felt better than I have in MONTHS on EVERY level.  Ladies, that is saying  A LOT!!!  Sucks that it'll really change in a flash tomorrow but I want the little (sorry, I'm gonna cuss again) the little 'gollum fuckers' DEAD!  or rather, in FL again, "DAID".

I'll probably post some more here tomorrow as I cruise around on line with my extremely cool new gizmo (Smartphone).  I love it.  Shocking, really...I've been adamantly low tech for years!

For those of you starting chemo and getting ports and for those who are new to all this BC shit, we are here for you.  I have done a TON of psycho-work to help me get through and if you'd like to hear of what I've been doing, you are welcome to PM me.

What the f*ck (WTF) is Omeggo talking about hehehe. I'm Rolling On the Floor Laughing (or better ROFLMAO, " My Ass Off, wish you could really do that...)

    markat Member Posts: 502

In all seriousness, I'm glad you are feeling good and hope that tomorrow goes well. Think about the pole dancing as you are trying to go to the bathroom. It makes sense.

Oh, I just can't keep up.  So much going on with everyone.

Camillegal--if Joey is your third grader (it's ok if you think I'm nuts)--you can save $ and be the hit of Christmas if you give him a roll of Mentos mints and a bottle of Diet Coke.  Be sure he's outside and in old clothes, or can run pretty fast...  When the mints hit the Coke, there's an explosive fountain of fizz.  Or--a tiny bottle of ketchup and a roll of pennies--and he can watch them turn from tarnished to sparkly.  Or--a pk of baking soda and a little bottle of vinegar--and he can fizzle happily at the kitchen sink.  He can become a "mad scientist."  :-)   I hope your bump turns out to be nothing fiercesome.  (I have a new lump to be my show and tell centerpiece for my appt next week...  ick.  and it hurts.)

whaevah--love the idea of throw another cat on the bed.  Mine throw themselves.  (have two)  :-)  Hungry?  The going recipe around here is tossing candy corn and peanuts together... tastes like Payday candy bars.  It's inhaled by the buckets. (i'd rather have a Heath bar.)

flwarrior--the down low has really worked for me.  There is a super small prayer circle of those who know at my school, since I had to tell my principal and my team... my dh and our two daughters (who shared with closest of their friends, as a pressure valve for them)... I'm glad you get it.  Seems many don't.  (long live hermit spirit.)

Stormy--love your little critter pic.  and I've made extensive use of the delete button.  Even learned how to undo a sent email on gmail.  Keep your chin up gets old fast.

Flislander--if I didn't have to go out, I would be a full-fledged stay-at-home hermit.  I have always been reluctant to mix and mingle, and bc emphasizes my inclination.

markat--if you want ooze to go with the alien kit (ooh--camillegal, this would be great for your little guy!)  mix powdered borax, a blip of water, and Elmer's glue, and a little of any food coloring--and you have your own squishy Alien innards--squishy and nontoxic and hours of fun.

Sixth grade insult of the day...  You're... you're...  ugh!!  You're worth your weight in Brussels sprouts!!!

Good luck, all, with appts and energy.  Breathe.

Pole dancin' tomorrow, wearing my "so ugly they are beautiful " chemo inspired boots!  You should try it Omeggo, all you need are the premeds, 3 liters of water and your fav music...I am expert at this. To date only bumped 2 people and a chair. I forgave the chair, it didn't see me coming.

Omeggo, you are psycho as well? Cool.WinkLaughing

I hope Camille isn't wandering around lost at the grocery store.

    Good luck tomorrow whaevah.

K, jane, FLwarr, Journey- are you all hiding from us today? :)

CSmommy, Jinkala, Sissy- not sure if you all still check in, but thinking of you ladies too! Hope you are feeling good!

    Hi hermits!

From one FL to an other FL, welcome.  Are you east coast, west coast or some where in between?  I'm west coast.

Sounds like there is a lot of action going' on tomorrow between ports and pole dancin'.  Wishing you all a smooth and easy time. Sending good vibes your way!

Camile when will you get the scan? Darn, you may have to take another shower.  Wink

I don't like/do facebook.  I hear horror stories from friends who do.

Markat - Love your description of our hermit clan.

Today was not my favorite day.  I was bored at work and it seemed to drag on forever.  On the way home my blinkers and windshield wipers in my car wouldn't work (wtf?).  Got home and my roommate had left the freezer door ajar...lots of defrosting went on, had to through some stuff out. ARG!  Damn I do not have the strength or energy for this stupid sh*t anymore.

    Hugs to all hermits!!!

FLwarrior... Autozone will check it out for no charge.  Might be as simple as replacing a fuse.  (ask one of their guys to do it--takes 30 seconds)  Not on facebook either.  Some fbi guys (truly) visited school and told warning stories to our kids.  Not worth it.

whaevah--blessings to you at the dance.  Will be sending warm thoughts your way.

    Hugs to each hermit.

OH Joey's my grandson--so I'm not allowed to do lots of stuff--but we sneak things hahaha

And this time when I saw my Card. He looked GOOOOD I told him the first time I thought he was Doogie Houser but today he looked GOOOD and I found out one of the girls in the office has a big crush on him and I told her to go for it. I laugh cuz I ask all the goofy questions.-oh and BTW nothing went good in tjere so this bothers me, not the rib thing, but I have to go back next week and the week after and I don't know everything is all goofed up with the heart thing. This bothers me--I came home and slept so long. Oh well he's changed some meds anddouble others so we'll see Oh and of course added another-Geeze--more confusion for me.

Hi everybody! I'm infusing as we 'speak'. I'm getting a little woozy. Gotta stop twirling the pole and playing Limbo and all that jazz. They actually say that it is disruptive! The nerve..
