The Hermit Club

Hi everyone. I'm a huge David Bowie fan and I was lucky enough to see him perform in 1983. I've been in tears since hearing of his death, have almost all his albums, there was no one like him. Listening to great music is certainly food for the soul and has helped me at stressful times. I'm something of a hermit too.

The reaction to his death has been enormous today. Shows you how much he impacted lives around the world.
In the past week, we have seen Natalie Cole pass away (I was really hit hard by that one, saw her twice and one of my forever fav vocalists) and now Bowie. I remember sitting at a Neil Young concert a few years back thinking about when some of the music legends of our time passed, how would I feel? This is our generation of music for most of us. Huge losses these past few weeks.
BB-sorry this has hit your son so hard.
Optomist- hugs to you too sister. How lovely you got to see him in concert all those years ago
And liver cancer death too. Cancer sucks

BB- I totally agree. I put him in the same genre as The Beatles and other legends. That music will go on forever!
I have seen and read so many interesting things about him I never knew today on FB.

Or Neil Young, James Taylor, Paul McCartney, I could go on and on.
You are going to live a long time BB. You have things yet to do.

I know what you mean, Blues. I held my breath last year when Joni Mitchell was hospitalized with an aneurysm. I was a bona fide hippy (if you can be without the weed, which never did anything for me), back to the farm and all that. Went through my 20s without a bra even. Actually lived on a farm in Maine. Well, Joni and Dylan were some of my – I don't know, mentors? inspirations? heroes? whatever. And Judy Collins, and Joan Baez, and Tom Rush, and James Taylor. And they live in my phone now.
Did you know David Bowie was married to Iman?

LOL! Blues, I saw Tom Rush in concert in a tiny venue in Rhode Island, in I think 1970. I still love his music, and one of my favorites is Joni's Urge for Going. Oh, and No Regrets/Rockport Sunday. Have you seen a newer video of his song about getting old? I'll try and find it.

Mags- I heard Joanie Mitchell has been recovering from her A last year. I have to heard much since, but love her so too.
Teka- I like you listening to that album!
I saw this video as part of the tribute to Bowie yesterday on FB and it made me smile. Hope you enjoy it too!

Hosp phoned yesterday - Went for my ultra sound on lumps today - was lying there thinking it is only radiotherapy damage as lumps grew fast - then i checked my remaining breast and felt new lumps - went cold visions of having totally flat chest, felt sick to my soul, frantically tried to calm myself.......then technician came and did thorough exam guided by me and where i have lumps.........she lectured me about not having a mammogram as said i could get ductal cancer too!! I said I have MRI´s and one is due......she highlighted a couple of areas on my actual breast, without comment, then told me the other lumps are benign cysts but said they will monitor it, told me i have inflamed skin on that breast and to do nothing to it.......pronounced all lumps on flat side are radiotherapy damage..........and to massage área to help with pain..............
Tonight I looked up to see how my friend in hospice was, as I have done every day for last month, and lately expecting the worst....and her husband posted on her Facebook page this morning that she died yesterday............she had same breast cáncer as me but lower stage, and has had a really rough ride the last 18 months, this damn disease is so unpredictable and so exhausting to deal with emotionally, feeling really tearful now.........

Have to make new business cards since I am selling more than just NOVA right now. Just signed up last week to be an Independent Sales Consultant for products from a company that is all natural and is based out of Minnesota.

So very sorry to hear of the loss of your friend Lily55. Hugs.
I haven't been posting much been so damn sick from chemo. Had my last one on Tuesday and have now started on Arimidex.
Have had a lot of family stress happening too. Which doesn't help. My son's partners Mum passed away suddenly last Friday night. She was only 48. Autopsy results thus far have failed to determine the cause of death. As you can imagine the family are really struggling and I'm feeling useless as I have been too ill to help them out with minding the kids etc. Funeral is next Wednesday; my low week. Wish I could do more but know I have to look after myself. My grandkids need a Nanna in their lives.
Take care all, Donna xx

Oh my Donna so sorry.........xx

Donna- I am sorry you have not been feeling well. Sounds like the chemo may be over if you are starting on the AIs. Takes awhile to feel better from all this.
My condolences to you on the loss in the family too. A young woman with no explanation is so hard to accept. Sending you love and hugs across the miles. I hope you can take care of yourself first.

Sorry to hear this Donna.
Despite the stress of changing my business cards to include my new business, I got them done.

Lily,
Really sad to hear about your friend and read your report about these lumps you have with my heart in my mouth. Soooo relieved that they are not further cancer and you are ok - or as well as can be.
Holding you in my heart - always.
xxx

Lily- I missed your post about getting the lumps checked and that they were cysts, and went back to re-read that post. I remember you had that terrible infection awhile back and wonder if that has not contributed to the inflammation. I am glad there were no findings of concern.
So very sorry about the loss of your friend. Hugs sister.

Teka- I have a friend here who named her dog, El Chapo. LOL!

Teka- that will be interesting! I am going to miss 60 minutes tonight, as I do a Sunday evening meditation and yoga class these days but hope to find it on line later. Penn seems like he may be trying to clear himself of any wrong doing?
I love Charlie Rose. I watch his show on PBS regularly.

Teka- working tomorrow during the day so will miss it but maybe it will run at night too, sometimes it does! Thank you for sharing this!

I heard that. He is one funny guy! I thought the GG's were a bit dry and would have been a tank without his humor.
Bill Maher had a good one on his HBO show the other night. He is wanting folks to sign a petition for him to get an interview with Obama. He said "even Sean Penn can get an interview with El Chapo, but I cannot get one with our president despite him being on every other talk show!" His show this past Friday was hilarious.

Thank you - really need those - just been accused of all sorts by someone and I have not the slightest clue what I am supposed to have done, and every time I ask I just get another rant.......issuing me ultimatums and threats and orders and just gets angrier every time I ask for clarification so I have said I am not responding to anything anymore tonight as I am too upset.........my heart and head are now pounding and racing, I wonder why I even make any effort sometimes really, especially as I always seem to be the person who gets attacked and I am actually a very straight forward person.........

Lily, who is doing this to you? Sounds like a special hell only family can provide. I got that T shirt, too. More hugs!
