I don't have much pink stuff in my wardrobe but what little I do wear I space it out during the month. For me its my statement that "I may have had had this crappy disease but it doesn't have me!"

Yes - I've warned my family away from the 'pink pollution' as well. Since most of that stuff is made in China (and I'm adamant about not purchasing from that nation) they probably would have steered clear of it anyway but I didn't want anyone making any donations, etc., in the mistaken belief that I would appreciate it.

We've lost (or nearly lost) so many friends and family members to cancers that get very inadequate funding that I'd much rather any funds be directed elsewhere.

October is Pit Bull Awareness Month !!    *the heck with the pink pollution*

    http://www.dogingtonpost.com/october-national-pit-bull-awareness-month/

It's time to show eveyone what great dogs pit bulls and pit mixes are.  You can see my sweet baby in my avatar picture. My FB feed is full of pit bull links, and not so much pink,, and I like it this way.

Edit:  she does have a pink collar, Maybe I should get her a new one.  *down with pink for Oct*

Well, I'm more of a cat person and it is October after all, so I label it "Black Cat Month" in favor of the feline of the house but I'm totally o.k. with Pit Bull Awareness Month for October as well. :)

Your PB looks like a sweetie - and in that photo is looks as though she's trying to entice you into a game of tag!

At the oil change place on the corner today, they had guys out there holding signs that said "Get your pink windshield wipers here!"

When we first came here. Many of us had tee's made up. I had a tee made that said "Cancer is Not a Marketing Opportunity". Stopped at an insurance office that had a sign that said "Save the Ta-ta's Breast cancer insurance policies sold here".  Me to them "Read the shirt"

Wow - I would have LOVED to have been a fly on the wall in that office, Sas! What a shame you weren't wearing a body cam. :)

Hopeful:  I am totally on board for Black Cat Month too.   Totally goes with the Halloween theme, that this month should be about!!

We were actually at the ice cream shop in that picture. She was hoping for another piece of cone !!  She's a total foodie.

We have Pinktober over here too, although to a much, much lesser degree.  Whatever is sold (damn little compared to the US) is either tied to the few known BC research charties, BreastCancerCare.org, or Cancer Research UK.  There is a recent raised awareness to cancer linked with obesity.

Someone just jumped the shark. Baker Hughes, a fracking company has teamed with the Komen folks to do this. They are actually distributing pink drill bits to their gas fracking sites along with lovely pink brochures. How this is supposed to help is unclear.

A recent study by the CDC has shown elevated levels of benzene in the urine of well workers. Benzene is a proven human carcinogen that is linked to higher incidence of leukemia, and yes, you guessed it. Breast cancer.

    I fracking give up.

One of the ambulances in Prince Georges County, Maryland is pink.  I am becoming more militant about Pinktober, lol.  Have signed two letters from Breast Cancer Action to various companies and sent an e-mail complaint to Tattoo Sales doing a Breast Cancer Awareness Month sales to show their support.  Nothing about donating to any cancer cause.  As a matter of fact, they wait for requests before they donate.  Sent a reply back calling them out for not donating up front.  I hate this month.

Hi all- I am Loving City of Hope tonight- this is from their site and they are dedicated to research!! Have not been in for a long time but knew just where to come with this.

    breast cancer awareness

If you recognize this symbol as a Breast Cancer Awareness Month ribbon, you're awareness of breast cancer has been raised. Now it's time to take action.

wyo, thanks, they certainly have a handle on exactly what we want.

I was approved through one study to get a Li fruemini(sic) genetic study on a grant(free) from City of Hope. DH was seriously  ill at the time with terminal lymphoma. No time, grant time ran out. But I remember they were willing to do it. That counted, even if it didn't get done.

I am going to thank the manager of my favorite publix today.  Instead of having all the pink crap by the entrance, s/he put it waaaaay in the back of the store so you aren't assulted the second you come in.
