Treating estrogen responsive cancer naturally

I was taking flaxseed and putting it in yogurt and tea, however I was told not to take flaxseed and to avoid soy because of the er/pr+ status. There is a lot of info out there and much is conflicting. I hate to think I am taking something that could actually be worse. I read an article on juicing cannabis leaves and will try that, there are a lot of antioxidants in cannabis, it is supposed to be very potent in its "raw" state and not when smoked, you can soak and juice the leaves. The article is called "preventing disease with hemp" not sure who wrote it as I do not have it in front of me.

So right, Mini!

I've started using Chia seeds since I can't do flax. And unlike flax, you can use them ground our whole.

Can you pls be specific about the chia ? Is there evidence that it prevents recurrence etc ..
also, how much/ did you order online ???
Many Thanks!0 -
Can you get in trouble for having hemp leaves? Has anyone tried San Miguel non alchoholic beer from Spain? I heard the hops help you sleep. I have sleep issues and this bc and Femara are not helping that issue. Went to Baja on vacay and got items that are prescrip in USA. Anyone tried lavender oil for new boobs? How should it be mixed? It has to be diluted to use on skin right?

INFORMAL SURVEY
Hi LadiesI wonder if you would mind answering:
For ER PR + , if you could pick only 1-2 alts and had no access to RX, which would you choose and why ?
THX!0 -
DIM for sure. I'm not sure on the second. I'd have to give that some thought.
0 -
Probably matake and turmeric. That might change after we see how the essiac works

Thanks, Ladies----I'd love some more answers as well as details and SEs if possible.

RE: LAB TESTS
May I also ask...what lab tests have you ladies taken to demontrate your DIM is working?
I want to ask my integrative DR to order some tests.
Many Thanks!0 -
Purple, what does it cost to go to an integrative doc, if I may ask? I wanted to make an appt with one at the hosp where I work. He is also a peds onc. The cost for a consult was $375. So I put it off for now because I am learning so much elsewhere and not sure it would be worth it. Sorry to interrupt. Please everyone continue with the supplement info that Purple asked for :-)

Details about the maitake; its the most medicinally active of the medicinal mushrooms and works well by taking it orally, as opposed to infusion. It kills cancer as well as causing the death of the cancer by aptosis. In a study it was used along with chemo by reducing the dose of each in half and had a better response than the full does of either alone. That is what I read about it. The study is on pubmed but I am using my phone right now and too complicated to look it up and copy-paste. But that is why I have a lot of faiith in the maitake. I take the 4X pro D fraction that comes in a bottle. The dose is based on weight. I weigh 120 lbs and the dose is 27 drops per day. I put it in coffee and it tastes good. I take about 10 drops in one cup of coffee.

Forgot to say its also a very powerful immune enhancer.

I get a quarterly mag. from U of MI from their cancer institute. It indicated that turmeric is to avoided.

Mybee333, this very surprising. I receive treatment at U of Mi and hadn't heard this. Any chance you can post a link or provide more info on what you read? I looked at their website including their online "thrive" magazine and saw no reference to tumeric. My oncologist, the head of the cancer center, has encouraged me to consume more tumeric, so I am very curious! Thanks so much...

The only thing I could find is that it does interfere with chemo, preventing the chemo from working as well.

HLB, that makes sense, thanks.

Yes, it was from Thrive. I only noticed it because I had read that some were taking it.
http://www.cancer.med.umich.edu/support/help-or-harm.html
The chart that links to the article says that curcumin has estrogenic properties.

That's okay. I dont consider it an interruption, but a part of the conversation. This integratve DR is an MD so my INS covered !
I thought I had found the best of both worlds.Unfortunately, he gave me a list of geneal things like mushrooms , melatonin, tumeric, selenium , vitamin D ( things I already knew) and that was it. No lab work, no tests, no suggestion for the ER PR pos. No Breast Health suggestion at all actually. He was the only one I could find near me.
Good luck to you HLB!
For the rest...thanks for your input. Please keep posting!

As for the mushrooms, I bought LIFESHIELD IMMUNITY at the drs suggestion ( reishi cordyceps Maitake Shiiatake)
Later, I googled and saw they can lower BP( min drops) so I called my DR but he claimed they " probably wouldnt".I dunno'., I have other supplements I may want to try (like GSE) that are also known to dip low BP so I dont want to ' double dip" so to speak!

Esmerelda - We're neighbors! BC here.
Do all mushroom supplements cause BP to lower? I love and eat mushrooms all the the time. My BP runs on the low side of normal and sometimes to low - low 80's over low 50's.
I've never seen anything about tumeric being bad. Just the opposite. :-(

My integrative dr claimed that if the BPO was * already too low* it would not change it ( WTH is the name for that phenomena/ anyone ?)
It may be true, but at the time I was looking at GSE which does lower BP, and I got wrapped up about not taking it. The bottle still sits here.I am going back to see my BS tomorrow (UGH) and may be on arimidex by the time I get home!

RE: DIM
I am looking at 75 or 150 mg ( what mgs do you all take ?)
I am going to my endo dr. teusday.I have a goiter, and I know cruciferous veggies are goiterous.
Can anyone give me some idea ( to tell her ) how many servings/ pounds are in DIM?
I wish there was a better option for me, but I dont ee it , and I just foundout I am 100% ER.0 -
About 6 weeks ago, I had a sudden bad leg pain and could hardly walk the dog, a day later I was admitted to the ER with Extensive Acute Deep Vein Thrombosis of lower extemity (apparently I have a Factor V Leiden gene that I inherited from one of my parents that make me 8% morre likely to get blood clots....NOW THEY CHECK, I TOLD THEM 3 YEARS AGO WITH 1ST DIAGNOSIS THAT I HAD DVT WHEN I WAS PREGNANT WITH MY DAUGHTER MANY YEARS AGO, SO WHY DIDN'T THEY GIVE MY BLOOD WORK TO CHECK THEN AND NOW AFTER THE FACT!!....Now on warfarin (blood thinner) have to be extremely careful, already fell once and am bruised like I was in a auto wreck....Will have new ultrsound in 3 months to see if my body has dissolved this....DR took my off Arimidex, since this could be a side effect....
While in the hospital I was given full body CT to make sure it was not cancer caused and also Bone Scan and luckily those tests were negative...I am a little afraid of being off arimidex and am taking tumeric and trying to eat estrogen inhibiting foods...I will for sure keep up with this topic to try to find natural foods/spices to help inhibit my estrogen...especially since last week at my mammo/us....another small area of concern was found in almost the same area in my other breast, just crazy...having biopsy this Tuesday Oct 23...I was so shocked since full body CT had showed nothing just a few weeks ago, but I guess it can not pick up any area less than 5mm.......I have also heard that grape extract is another estrogen inhibiter, anybody know?.....I eat a lot of pineapple...Don't know if Doc will put me back on arimidex after DVT clears, but now don't want it so will be researching other means....thanks to all for research and info I will be checking back....

.......I have also heard that grape extract is another estrogen inhibiter,
YES
This is true of GSE but it may cause blood thinning. In your case, I would investigate DIM>
so sorry for your troubles... good luck to you.

I haven't posted here much, but have questions for all of you. I was on Femara, but had to stop due to it causing eczema. Tried Aromasin, but was having very similar problems with it. Chose not to push it till the skin break out. I am using DIM and grape seed, but really am not sure how much to use of them. I am trying to eat better as well. Just am really wanting to do all I can. By the way had to stop chemo after first dose. My Onc. was unwilling to continue due to how I eacted to it.

I take two 100mg DIM right now, although I just found what another brand that has fewer fillers and they put the 200mg in one capsule. I've had no side effects in the last two months, and I am someone very sensitive to taking medications and supplements. Anastozole and Aromasin gave me HORRIBLE side effects and had me zombie-fied within a matter of weeks. I have had a blood clot in my leg, so I am very hesitant to take Tamox given the benefit to risk ratio for me. DIM was my next best choice. So far so good. I've also added turmeric and resveratrol to my arsenol.

Are the 200 caps able to be broken ?
Just wondering as I am planning to start at 100.THX

Do find out, if you are on coumadin. My first *guess* is that it would be your best bet, but I am not sure becuz I know you should avoid salads and spinach while on coumadin.
Ask the DR about cruciferous veggies in XL quantities.
IF I were you...and I am not, I wouldnt touch tamoxifen with a 10 ft pole.
Good luck to you!
