Oh aruba....big hugs being sent to you♡

Hi Aruba.....what a scare!!!!........I know the feeling though and as you said, it's part of our new life, the part I hate so much. Every twinge now, every abnormal feeling I get, I go to
dark places, so to speak. Before BC, all these twinges and aches etc., we put down to
just getting older.....I wish we could go back to those days. ❤ 😡0 -
websister-so happy for your DIL and happy birthday early since i never know if I will be on from one day to the next.
Mcook- My turn to check and see where you are???
Momof3infl- welcome to the group.
SwgeeWi, are you anywhere near Dubuque, IA?
Shari, keep resting, the first week or two you will live to nap and then the energy comes back slowly, at least that is how it was for me.
As far as April Fools day no pranks on me and I didn't even get my 12 yr old this year. She is usually pretty easy to get too.0 -
Aruba (((hugs))) I hate our new 'normal'... truly sucks, big time!

wow! I have a lot to catch up on so this may be a long post.
Bhlri- sorry for the late Happy birthday, but happy birthday hope you had a good one.
websister- I'm sorry about the comment your mom made. I remember as a child my mom said "her life is over after 30". so on my 30th birthday, i cried all day long thinking my life was ending. Little did i know it was just beginning. I'm assuming your mom doesn't know that you had a BC. That must be really tough for you. Btw Happy birthday tomorrow and Congrats to your DIL winning, so happy for her. Talk about a social network crowing her a winner.
Internutz- Welcome! I do think that 50lbs is too much to be pulling or lifting, take it easy.
Shianne- I think we all have body issues. I know I do. I'm getting use to looking at the incisions on my breast. I don't think they are the prettiest or the most sexy thing, but my hubby still likes what he sees. I'm good.
Sherylb- i hope your SE's are getting better. Let us know how your doing.
Believe- I use the term Fluffy to describe myself all the time. Have you ever seen the comedian Gabriel Iglesias. He's freaking hilarious, i would kill to see him at a show.
Swgee- I hate when i have no kids home, i don't get any sleep at all. all the little noises keep me awake and I still try to listen for all the sounds my kids should be making.
cmbernardi- Hope you are feeling better. I think the lack of energy sucks for anyone with exhaustion due to chemo/rads/surgery.
shari- glad you are feeling well. Are you staying on top of your pain meds?
momof3infla- the end is so near. I can't wait to be just one more step closer to the end. 2 more procedures nips and tats.
Tazzy- i think you are trying to show all of us up by doing so much today.
scottie- chocolate pomegranites? Did you eat the entire bag or is Jo going to have to beat you?
momof3greatkids- I think you starting PT is the best thing you could have done. I have LE and I start my therapy again Wednesday, I'm so excited about that. good luck with it.
Aruba- That would definitely be scary? glad you Dr said everything is ok and not to worry.
Mcook- I agree with iatigger, where are you?
I spent Saturday sleeping all day - no lie. Sunday morning was breakfast with my dad and stepdad at Ihop, i did very well only ate 1/2 of my meal. That afternoon we went to my mom and stepdads for an early dinner chicken/beef kabobs. Came home and did laundry. I have called today Tuesday since i'm off work on friday. Going to Galveston with my hubby for a work thing, we are leaving early Friday morning (4am) going to meet up with a former co-worker of mine and have dinner with them. I'm really excited about it. It's my first official day off since last May that did not have to deal with a surgery or Dr appt. I'm sitting in my chair watching a movie and drinking a small glass of grape vodka, sipping it to be exact. Let's see how quick it takes me to get drunk. ha Hope everyone is doing great.

Greetings, all!
Sandy65, welcome to this thread! I'm sending you a PM.
Shari, congratulations on finally getting that surgery over with! Hoping for great pathology results.
Tazzy, I'm curious about your greenhouse. Did you build it? What do you have in there?
Aruba, so glad to hear it wasn't IBC! Our thoughts can turn to dark places when we don't have enough information. But nine times out of ten the real story is nowhere near as bad as our fears!
Momof3greatkids, hope you can get your range of motion back.
Momof3infla, that is a bummer that you're still dealing with these issues two years out. Hope you can get some resolution, and can take it a bit easier in the meantime.
Cmbernardi, I also remember that lead-leg feeling. Never knew which of the chemos caused it. Generally it was better in the third week, but it is progressive. The good news is you should bounce back fully from that when you're done with all your treatments!
SwgeeWi, I'm curious if you think it is the Tamoxifen that is making you tired, or the aftereffects of rads? I'm supposed to start Tamoxifen, and I'm not sure what to expect.
SherylB, my oncology nurse suggested B complex and magnesium for neuropathy. I think the B complex helped. My neuropathy lingered for two or three months after chemo, but it's gone now.
Shianne, hope the rads SEs have improved. I was told no Silvadene until after radiation was done because the silver can interfere with the radiation treatments and make them less effective. Fortunately I didn't really need it. Hopefully your skin has healed enough to get you through the rest of the treatments.
Chrisrenee, sometimes those sleeping-in days can be very energizing. Hope you have a good time in Galveston.
Hello to everyone else I missed! Oh, I am thirty-twelve. (Lol, I can't remember who said thirty-ten, but I'm adopting it.)

Hi Aruba. So jealous you're in Fla. (I' m originally from Findlay, now in Wisconsin.) I finished my rads a month ago and I've had those huge pores from swelling. I have my one month follow up tomorrow, so I will ask RO about it. It's scary how quickly your mind can jump from one line of thought down to some freaky scenario. Glad you called your Dr. for verification to put your mind at ease. Enjoy the sunshine state and good luck with your Dad, ((Hugs))

Ok I wasn't done.
Iatigger- I'm in New Glarus, probably about 1 1/2 hours away from Dubuque. Want to meet up sometime? We have a thread for Wisconsin ladies and we're going to try to set up a meet sometime this Spring or Summer.
Stride-I'm pretty sure this fatigue was from the Tamoxifen. In fact I thought it was worse than rads. I haven't been as super tired this second week. I'm still tired and I may be that way for a couple of months, but I don't feel like I have to take a nap anymore!0 -
SwgeeWI - I am actually in Cedar Rapids but from DBQ originally. It would be fun to meet up sometime.
0 -
Hey all, I'm almost asleep, but wanted to check in. I'm down to my final two rads and in a much better frame of mind but I'm super tired. The mind is willing but the body unable :-(
This too shall pass. Right? Lol
Just want to say thanks for everyone's support and wise words. The encouragement has helped so much. I'm forever glad I found you ladies!!
Websister, congrats to your DIL that's fantastic!!!0 -
Just remembered a question I've wanted to ask forever, my chemo brain never thinks of it tho. I had SNB, 5 removed and all neg. is there still a chance of LE for me?
I see RO tomorrow, I hope to remember to ask him lol0 -
Chrisrenee, grape vodka? So you are actually practising your drinking? LOL! Let us know how it goes!
Aruba - phew! You had me so worried there for a moment. So glad it's not what you thought!
Shianne, unfortunately you have a chance for LE even with only one node removed. It happened to Binney over on the LE threads, so this is just one more gift given by bc that we have to deal with. There is very good advice on that thread re LE as well as what precautions to take to prevent it. It sucks, but this is our reality.
0 -
Shianne- I only had 2 nodes removed and I have LE. Start OT Wednesday for the 2nd time. So be careful with heavy lifting. I would suggest going in and getting evaluated for LE.
Liefie- I'm trying to practice for Friday. I didn't drink all of it because when I stood I got dizzy and had to sit down and fix popcorn to soak up some of the alcohol. Haha0 -
7 nodes = LE+ here.
Bummer but there it is.
0 -
Aruba; WHEW!
I have my first mamo in the morning. I'm not going to stress.
shianne; I had 5 out, no LE... Yet.
Gotta get to sleep. Hoping for minimal SEs for all.0 -
Hi all you fine folks,
Thanks for all the prayer, hugs, and suggestions. I actually started the B vitamins yesterday and gabapentin and actually slept for 6 hours without having to get up and take a hot bath, woo hoo. Went for my CT simulation yesterday and I start rads next week, bring it on!! I am ready to get this sh*t overwith and get some hair back and feel like my legs will actually hold me up and not feel like rubber chicken. Hugs, prayer, and love to all..
Sheryl

Sheryl,
I met that rubber chicken and I do not like him!
Shianne - DO get evaluated for LE. My oncologist gave me plenty of easy exercises to do to stay limber and keep it at bay. At this point I would like to be evaluated for total body PT but my medical insurance says it is a "no go". Bummer.

Juneau - in your pockets today
Aruba - what a scare for you!
Chrisrenee - hope the popcorn did the trick. Re: Mom - it's just how she is. After my June 29th surgery she said 'That's behind 'us' now', that's always been her way of dealing with things and she doesn't talk about it after that. I have lots of other support though
Tazzy - glad you had a good weekend
Shianne - only two to go! Yay! It's been almost 2 1/2 weeks since last rads for me, I'm amazed at how good my skin is doing this week, fatigue is getting there. Congratulations!
Sheryl - glad the B vitamins and gabapentim are helping
Cmbernardi - hope you and the rubber chicken don't get too chummy
Thanks to all for birthday wishes - Scottie - I plan to have birthday cake today but I'll have some fruit with it0 -
Websister; HAPPY HAPPY!!!! Enjoy your cake!
I got the all clear this AM on my mamo. I get an MRI in May.0 -
YAAAYYYY on the all clear, Juneau! Did you see the 'Uniboobers Unite' thread? Can't wait for my TE uniboob to become a soft, warm one on May 21.
SherylB, sooooo happy you're doing better, girl!
Chrisrenee, what kind of liquor is on your practise schedule tonight? LOL.

Juneau So glad you got the great news! Oh and while I appreciate your welcome to the "runners" club, I just signed up for the Slowwwww stride club for now.
Liefie So glad the date for your soft uniboob is creeping closer. That really is something to look forward to!
Tazzy sounds like you had a well deserved, great weekend. (sounds like the trips to the woods are finally paying off for your DH too! )

Juneau - wonderful news!
Chrisrenee - yes, how do you plan to practice tonight?0 -
Hi hi ! Doing ok .. Recovery going pretty good.. I am still anxious over upcoming path and even though I feel better cancer is out I am still struggling. I am suffering from a little depression and its hard for my mom and everyone e but they r being wonderful.. Hopefully pathology will help me move forward and feel like my life is not over.. It's just scary not knowing and hat if the knowing is bad.. I can't deal with feeling my fate is sealed.. However my parents keep going on the fact that both surgeon were very positive especially breast surgeon.. She mentioned we wontf know anything until pathology but she did make a point of telling them nothing looked suspicious or out of the blue and that nodes came out very easily(Like nothing was stuck together and she said that's a very good sign) I trying to lean on that but u know me., my mind goes to worst possible case.. I just want my life back.. And I want to never deal with this cancer again.. Take my tamoxifen amd move forward... Anyway I. Will keep u updated
Sha
Glad everyone is doing ok so to speak.. I am still struggling but healing is going well.. Went to ps today and he said everything looks great! And staying on top of pain meds everyone!0 -

Juneau.....good news.....now you can have a piece of Believe's cake......I don't think you should touch Websister's.....why do I think chocolate is involved with that fruit!!!!
Believe.....you should have been a dietitian.....lol
Shari.....positive vibes still coming your way....❤
Mcook......where are you?.....we miss you....😥0 -
10 nodes out - no LE to date. I believe that LE is like getting cancer... total crap shoot.
Believe : love that cake
Happy Birthday websister.
Stride: I am growing flowers & veggies (marigolds, lobelias, begonias, busy lizzies, daisies to name a few. Veggies are snap peas, radishes, tomatoes, spring onions, haricot beans and of course herbs) and veggies in my greenhouse. It is a Palram one and DH constructed it for me last year. It is my therapy
2Fried : you know me well
Work is manic as always, but dont let it stress me anymore.
Hello to everyone I have missed - have read your posts just dont have time to respond to all. ((((hugs))))

Juneau congrats!!! That is fantastically awesome news!!!!
Websister happy happy happy birthday!!!! And to many, MANY more!!!
Shari, glad to see you, and that everything is going good. Patients, honey. You will be fine no matter the outcome of your path.
Believe that looks delicious!!!
I'm so tired today, couldn't sleep last nigh, every time I rolled over I irritated my burnt armpit and boob. Thank god it's almost over.
It's so true that just when we start to think we have it bad life shows us someone worse off. I met this lovely lady today. She just started rads last week. She did the 4ac/4tax but she had to delay the last two tax due to shingles and a heart attack!!!! She recovered from both, continued on had surgery and is now doing 25 rads!!! God bless her heart, she was in there laughing and joking around. I was amazed.0 -
Shianne, you made me cry. What an example that woman is! Isn't the human spirit just a wonderful thing? If we choose the right attitude, nothing can destroy it. Not even cancer can invade it. Thanks for sharing that amazing, positive story - that should give the rest of us reason to pause, and think about our own situation. I have to say though that the women on this board are all pretty strong and positive. Let's march, warriors!
How many more rads, Shianne? ((((HUGS!!!)))) Those are for you too, Shari! As you begin to feel better physically, your mind will follow. In the meantime, try to distract your attention with good books, movies, and your parents' wonderful company. Best wishes!
Believe, that 'cake' looks positively delectable!
