I love you! I did not know how I would do this event without all of you who have got me through my darkest days this year! You all have held my hand and listen to me here and became my sisters:) I would not have made it through this year without all of your holding my hands! I am so excite that some of you will be able to make the trip to the Midwest this summer and we will definitely dance on tables so if you are in for some fun, hugs and lots of love please join all of us in July!
This Friday I have my last (praying hard it is ) infusion! One year of herception over!! What a feeling that will be on Friday! I hope the chemo room is ready for some tears of joy!

Mcook, I was smiling at your excitement in your post!!! I'm excited too!!! Haven't told my family yet as the man I'm married to and I are not talking lol (no DH tonight, more like AHH for a$$hole husband) but I'm pretty sure there won't be any issue. For the record I'm into all the mentioned activities ;-)

Been kind of down lately, I feel like I did when I was waiting for things to happen, waiting to start chemo, to have surgery, etc. anxiety I guess? I just want to either rewind to 2 yrs ago (and play it out differently) or fast forward 5 yrs, get tamoxifen over and everything is all clear and done!! I'm angry that my life is altered that way. Some of you have heard this on the other thread and have helped so I apologize for the replications. Maybe looking forward to a Midwest pool party will help lol0 -

mcook: I too smiled at the excitement of your post. Not sure how I'll be getting there but have told DH that I am coming. Could be a road trip with the ON ladies, could be meeting up somewhere. Just keeping my eyes open for seat sales.

I have booked the hotel in Chicago (outside) for July 15, 16, 17 and then to Coralville for the 18 and 19 ... heading home on the 20th. We could do something in Coralville --- we are booked into the Homewood Suites. Have 2 queen beds and a sitting area and kitchen too -- can have people there. iatigger is looking into restaurants for the Friday night .. I have started an Iowa City get together thread -- under "get togethers" .... join us there.

HI ladies. I haven’t caught up yet – in fact I’m writing this in MS Word and am going to cut and paste it into bc.org after, because I’m at work and don’t want them seeing me on a “chat forum”.
So I have been exercising like crazy and Saturday I found myself at a muscle pump class at my gym at 11:15 (I usually skip any and all organized activity that requires me setting my alarm to get there on the weekend)…anyway – and I found myself half way through the class rolling into my neighbor on my exercise ball. When I looked up I saw a fellow ‘sister in arms’ starting back at me – about weeks PFC and with a beautiful pink ribbon necklace on. I asked if she was a survivor and she told me she was. I told her I was too. She then told me she actually had 6 Rads to go! And there she was putting me to shame!
So after the class we got to talking. She still hasn’t had her reconstruction and will have DIEP in 6 months. She’s 36 (I think) – and let me tell you – she’s a warrior!!! I mean HOLY SHIT! To be exercising like this with 1) your TE still in and 2) the last week of Rads. She is one strong bitch! We exchanged numbers and I wrote down the url for her to find us. In fact I saw her again yesterday with her mom coming out of kickboxing (as I was finishing spin) with her mother, who is also a survivor. Anyway – now I know why I managed to get my ass up and get to the gym on Saturday… I was SUPPOSED to roll into her. ;-) AND I LOVED the class and instructor and am going to try to make it part of my weekly routine.
Anyway – Believe – I missed your birthday!! SO HAPPY BELATED!!!
Regarding this summer trip to Iowa…. Where should I be flying to Chicago or Iowa? I’m thinking we need to be there for early Friday to be part of mcooks day, right mcook? (AND YAY ON FINISHING HERCEPTIN THIS WEEK! IF I still drank I’d do a shot of Tequila to celebrate for you! Actually it would probably be MANY shots, which is WHY I don’t drink anymore) So do I need to fly into the area on Thursday night? I will just request Friday off from work. And if we are doing this, can someone local call a mid priced hotel and see if they will give us a group rate? The cost of hotel might make or break my ability to come. My DH and I are house hunting… YES we are considering home ownership. For us this is a BIG deal…. I was afraid of the commitment of buying a full bedroom set 3 years ago, so this is HUGE! As two recovering addicts we are about 20 years behind everyone – so it’s a little scary to think about being responsible for maintaining a home.
Anyway, back to work. Will read up later…

Joanne; just read your post - surprised you booked already as we hadn't really firmed things up. What is the rate at the hotel Coralville? Can you get a group rate? How far is that from the race area? From the local airport?

Juneau I have no idea distances. Mcook said Iowa city so .... I can always cancel. We will be there on the Thursday to Saturday and probably head home on Saturday. I have the manager's email so will write regarding group rate ... Wanted an idea of numbers.

Juneau, The Cedar Rapids Airport is only 15 min from Coralville. I would be happy to pick you up on Thursday if that is when you come in. Once MCook knows exactly where her section of the run is we can plan where to cheer her on at. Might be fun to be at the 5 mile , 10, 15, 20 and end of her run to keep cheering her on.
I know SWgeeWi wanted to come over from Wisconsin too. Those who are still around Saturday I could still have an outing at my house.

Hi gals!!! OMG.... I am sooooo excited we're going to cheer mcook on and I'm so glad so many people can go!! Thanks for starting the "get together" thread, Joanne! I plan on coming in on Thursday and going home Sunday since I live so close. If someone would like to split a double room with me I'm game. I'll wait to make reservations until we're sure of the hotel. I might just have to bring some cheese from Wisconsin, some Spotted Cow beer from the New Glarus Brewery, some wine from the Wollersheim Winery, and some local root beer. (After all, New Glarus is America's little Switzerland!) Oh we'll be dancing on tables all right! Let me know what else I can bring Aimee! I just may be inspired to start getting my ass in shape!:). I'm so excited to meet all the gals from Canada!

We may have gotten snow again today, but at least the sun is shining in my heart. I'm so thankful to have all of you sister warriors in my life and can't wait to meet you! Sheila:)0 -

We have state of emergency flooding all over the place here and calling for 10-25 mm of rain in the next 24h. But I think snow would be more depressing!!!

So ladies I start my run at approximately at 9 am and no side lines for my sisters
at any time you can walk or run with me! It is not like a marathon it will just be me:) so I can welcome others to take a mile or two for me if anyone is interested!
I start about 26 miles out side of Grinnell, Iowa then I run for 26.2 miles towards Iowa City then someone else takes my torch and runs the next leg and so on and so on till Iowa City. If you google maps from there to Iowa city that is the approximate route I will take. It is about 60 miles from Iowa city so not far. My estimated time is 9 am. I think I can make Chicago the weekend before too! I am not competing so as long as I finish in six hours I am good:) I will get the final route details before July so that I can get to everyone and more details on good places to be on the route! Holy crap! I seriously wouldn't want anyone else but all you there:)
With that said if anyone wants to join my team on that day and take a mile or two let me know! All you have to do is go to my page and sign up! Nothing else needed unless you want to share with you friends and help me raise funds but optional and totally up to you! Or just come bring me wine and water:) and cheer me on!

Just read an article that states we might be washing off our VitD3 . It says that
after spending all day outside in the sun and you shower when you come home, lay off the soap!!!!!....It states that Dermatologists believe we "soap up" too much anyway.
We are washing away the natural oils in our skin and perhaps Vit D3 as well. This
research is ongoing. Interesting article.0
