Believe, The Province of Quebec and some of New Brunswick) is French speaking and Canada is bilingual as to 2 languages however I cannot speak French. I am sure the other ladies speak English as their first language too.

Yes and Celsius drives me crazy too and I live with it ...

That's funny wtih the celcius - it actually made it to 24 degrees celcius.  When I lived in England it was always farenheit - I made the switch pretty quick.

    I dont speak French either.

I am at 155 - bloody stupid scale.

Well we are off camping - will be fun trying out our new camper.

Wishing you all sunshine and happiness this weekend.

    Chat soon my lovelies xxxxxxxxxx

Tazzy, enjoy the camping - hope weather plays along for you! Here on V. I. it's dripping again this morning after a week where we had temps upwards of 20 degrees Celsius -  sigh. DH even went waterskiing on Thursday afternoon though lake water was only 12 degrees C!!??? Yes, aren't scales just stupid? They should ban the dang things . . .

Believe, the majority of Canadians speak English as their first language. French is spoken more in the eastern provinces like Joanne explained, and in Quebec it is the first language of most people. Where I live in BC on the west coast I almost never hear French.

Adagio, I loved your post.  My chemo experience was rather impersonal as well.  The nurses were always rushed and there were so many that I didn't really feel a connection with any individuals.  Patients didn't chat much as the layout of the room made it difficult.  The saving grace was my dear hubby sitting across from me, handing me cookies and walking me out afterward.  I hated rads at first, having to lie on my back half-naked in a cold room under a giant machine, but over time I really started to like the techs who always had cheerful smiles and small talk, the receptionists who remembered my name every day, and a few fellow patients who made conversation in the waiting area despite the annoying big screen TV.

    Aruba, lovely glass pieces!

Ann - isn't it great to have those visits behind us now and I am hoping that with time it will become more and more a distant memory. Having said that I want to remember enough so that I can help other women who may have to go through the whole cancer treatment. Enjoy your weekend!!! I am off to San Fran this afternoon and I am looking forward to the break.

Hello to all of you!  I have been lurking and reading in admiration of everyone.

Aruba, love the glass.  What beautiful art!

Juneau, happy house hunting.  I love watching HGTV's House Hunters.  I have never been through the process as DH owned the home we are in before we got married.

Ireland, good to hear from you.  Great plan to look at the cafe business from that angle.  We have owned a restaurant for the last 21 years.  Don't know if I mentioned that to you before.  While it is a good life, it is our life and we are anxious to get out of it...and find some time for ourselves and out of the public eye.

Believe, I speak only English but our two kids took French all through school and were bilingual on graduation.  Not sure how much they have retained as they probably never use it.

Shari-I had a great time in NYC and next time I go there, we will meet up with you and the rest of this group!

Mcook-congrats on being done Herceptin!  Definitely a reason for wine.

Adiago-have a great time in San Fran...love that city.  Don't forget to check out the Giridelli (sp?) Chocolate place near the wharf.  Free samples.  Scottiee won't mind as they are small and if it is dark, it's good for you!

To everyone else I have missed, have a great weekend and keep on posting!  I love checking in here!

I wish I was like a super survivor. I'm not. If I get 45 min on the treadmill, I am proud. I am one year from starting chemo and the buzz cut to baldness. I now have a 4"long curly mess of lively hair. I go from not thinking about it to wondering if cancer is wedged into my bone marrow despite all the unpleasant treatments.I did start Lexapro and it is helping immensely. Never thought I'd need something like that but hey- my spririts were in the toilet for too long.

However, my demanding job as school principal is going great, I am enjoying spring, my spirits are better, my weight is good, my Aromasin SEs are mostly for the first few hours of every day... but I am aiming towards more humor and lightness!

Lisa - I'd say you are a Super Warrior! 45 minutes is a lot. I do 30 minutes. Of course in the back of our minds we worry about recurrence but so far so good for all of us here. We decided collectively we would worry about that when and if it happened and just like last time, if we had to, we'd attack with everything like we did before, only this time with experience! I have a great sign, you may have seen it before. It says "Worry is a waste of the imagination". I did worry when I got called back after a mammogram but even that was just my team making sure they didn't see anything suspicious. Sigh. We will learn when to worry but not every day, we'd wear ourselves out.

I take Arimidex too. I take it at night and 90% of the time, I sleep like a baby. Have you tried taking it at night?

In my humble opinion, we are all Super Warriors. Look how far we have all come!

Adagio - I got excited when I saw you were in SF. Yes, it's beautiful. I thought maybe Embook and I weren't the only ones out here. Then I went to your profile and see that you are from Canada too. Wonderful having friends all over too! I'm the lucky one since my email is full by the time I get up, with the time difference. Of course that also means the majority of you turn in way before I do.

Schatzi - I'm sure you are fun! French sounds great, maybe we can learn together, in the future. I took Latin in school. Now that was a waste!

Liefie & Outdamdedspot - I've spent a little time in Quebec, that's probably why I wondered about you all speaking French.

My DH played golf today and got a hole in one (his 2nd one) and he's only been playing golf for about 15 years. Pretty exciting. He bought a lottery ticket, (still looking for a hand pay like Aruba). I hope he didn't use up all his good luck on the golf course:-)

    Hi everyone.....

Met a fellow warrier yesterday at a kids party......her mother has fought this 3 times and two of her sisters and now herself...she has had a double mastectomy, has one chemo left to do, rads and the herception. She was in great spirits And I have to say I really admire the way she is handling. The part of her story that I thought might brighten ur day ladies...and made me think of the younger gals here on this board...was that one of her sisters underwent her treatment...which included a tough chemo regime.....23 years ago Yip thats right.....TWENTY THREE YEARS!!now has a 12 year old child! Hope ur all having a great week-end. X

Believe....I took French in school as well as Latin....they were my best subjects. But since, other than reading cereal boxes, my French was never used. Other than Priests, who speaks Latin?

I could have taken German or Spanish at the time instead but didn't. I sure was sorry when I moved to Austria at age 40 and had to learn German. After 8 years there, I still was far from fluent. It's been over 20 years that I left and came back to Canada so the little I did speak has long since gone. LOL

And speaking of DHs golfing, my hubby's first day on the course, he lost our brand new cell phone! I am not a happy camper. Even if they manage to find it, after a night in the wet grass, it will be toast anyways. *sigh*.

Hey everyone, hope you are all out enjoying the sunshine!! I wish I was :-( I put my back out so I'm tucked into my recliner, while the rest of the family is out playing in our finally spring like weather.

Went to see the Alabama concert last night, it was amazing!! I'm afraid I had a little too much wine at dinner and afterward tho lol so along with the back pain I'm a wee hungover.

I wish I could say that the rest of the weekend was good but unfortunately there have been two horrible incidents. Friends of ours lost there home in a fire. Four fire depts took 6 hours to extinguish it. It was burning so hot that the steel I-beam that supports the main level over the basement shot straight through the walls. Pretty much everything that wasn't lost to fire was damaged by water. My heart just breaks at the thought of lost baby pictures, wedding photos, keepsakes and mementos all gone!!

This morning we found out that one of my husbands employees lost a cousin in a car accident last night. Coming from a small rural community, my husband knew him as well. 21 years old, it's just so sad. I just want to bubble wrap my kids and never let them out of my sight!

Sorry for being a Debbie Downer :-(

    Big hugs to eveyone

Aruba.... Your glass pieces are so beautiful!! You know you could probably sell them....

Marian....please let me know how your mindfulness-based cog. therapy works. I wonder if it's something I could read the book and do or if it would be better to be supervised while following? I see my psychologist for the 2nd time tomorrow and I'll ask her about it.

This weekend was so beautiful!! I tried to be outside and keep busy in spite of my fatigue. I've been on my Tamo for 5 weeks now and am wondering if this is how I'm going to feel or if it will get better. I see my MO on Friday for my first checkup since starting it. I can't remember how often she said I'll be followed after that.?.

I went for a walk with my dog, my neighbor and her two boys this morning. Boy do I need to build up some stamina!!! It was so fun though. The boys are about 8 & 11. We walked into the woods behind our property because they'd never been back there. There's an old, old car back there and lots of fallen trees. The boys pretended they were Indiana Jones. So fun to watch the young and innocent at play! A 16 and 18 my girls are way past that!

Shianne....I'm so sorry you hurt your back. Hope you're taking it easy! I'll keep your friends and your husband's employee's family in my prayers. When it rains it pours. Speaking of rain...we're supposed to get it all week. WTF?? If I get desperate enough I may have to visit a tanning bed and pretend it's the sun. I'm serious!

Hugs, ladies! Hope you all had sun-filled beautiful weekends to sustain you through the upcoming week.

Swgee-glassblowing was sure fun and I may do it again sometime.

Shianne-so sorry to hear all this sad news. Life can change in an instant...don't we know that.  Glad you had a great time and that you are recouping in that recliner. Did you hurt your back in the mosh pit at the cocertWink?  In any case glad you had some wine and are recouping!

    Ireland-Glad to hear from you!

Believe-congrats to the DH on the hole in one!  I can't even do that on the minature golf course.  Hope that lottery ticket does it's magic too.  Boy would that be fun to celebrate!!

This week is doing errands, getting haircut etc and taking off for a fun 10 day road trip on Friday solo.  First to see DD in Indiana for the weekend at the college where she coaches.  Then off to Chicago to visit two dear friends that I have not see in too long.  Back here on Mother's day.  While I am away, DS will finish up classes and return home from Knoxville, TN for his summer law job while his finace continues to work in Knoxville.  So the noise and clatter of him and his friends will liven up the house one more summer before he gets married next year after graduation.  What fun this will be!

Hello again everyone. I am back from my vacation in Corolla, NC. It was a really great trip. My DH and I ended up buying a vacation home down there. We have been talking about doing this for years and started looking online to buy something since right before my DX last March, but never had the time to actually go down and look at any places. We are so excited now. We still have to go through the inspection next week, but hope to close by the end of June if all goes well. This will make an already busy time even busier, but I have decided we need to start living our dreams now.

Work is going to be crazy this week since I have been gone for a week, but at least I can look forward to another vacation in NC.

I have been reading everyone's posts while away, but did not have time to post myself.

I am excited for everyone making the trip in July to Iowa. I would love to go, but will be having my hernia surgery that week and will not be able to travel. I will be there in spirit and will look forward to pictures and lots of posts on it.

I am in pockets for anyone that needs it this week. Hugs to everyone also.

Remember the song "Getting to Know You" from the King and I? I am so loving the friendships being made here.   I thought it might be fun if everyone would do a little Q and A about themselves outside of that one thing we all have in common that brought us here.  I'll start...and if you you feel comfortable, please let us know a little about you too (you can cut and paste and change the answers to fit you)...would be fun to learn more about you so anything you want to add!

Believe, I missed the post about your DH getting a hole in one!! That's so awesome!! And his second, I sure hope that lottery ticket works for you!!!

Aruba, no mosh pit accident, it was just me being stubborn and stupid me. Trying to move some rocks from my garden instead of waiting for DH to get home and do it ;-(

It seems our DSs are in the same proximity for school, yours in Knoxville and mine a couple hours south of that in Harrogate, TN.

Momofthree, how fantastic!!! A vacay home in NC. Good for you guys to start dream living!! I wish I could talk my DH into slowing down a bit.

    Here I go....

    Name: Luanne

    Age: 43. 5/14

    Married 22yrs last march

2 DS 21 and 10 this year. One was a surprise lol a gift that I was told wouldn't happen

I have one very old (16) and very fat (22 lbs) cat, she both refuses to stop eating or breathing. She will wake me up in the morning with cuddles and purrs then proceed to growl and flap her tail if I don't feed her fast enough.

I live in a very small town called Washago, Ontario. Where everyone knows everyone, we take the meaning of family serious. There is nothing that a neighbour wouldn't do to help out.

Fun facts. Ummm... Really, I'm just a small town country girl who likes to have fun. I'm more comfortable in my "fat pants, t-shirt with no bra" but I love to get dressed up for a night out as well. My two sons are my pride and joy. I like to travel but I also love sitting on my deck with friends or family. I LOVE golfing and what we call "the lot". It's acreage that we own and use for bonfires, cook outs, four-wheeling etc. We use it fall, winter and spring, rain, snow, cold, anything but summer and hot because the bugs will carry you away. I don't work outside the home and kind of like it that way lol.

Hello All.  My bio is as follows:

I am a 51 year old, 100% Italian American female who grew up in the Poconos of NE Pennsylvania but lived and worked in the DC Metro area after undergrad. (Marywood College) school for 29 years.  Occupation:  Registered Dietitian and Food Safety Consultant.  I was lucky to have earned my Master's degree at GWU in Washington, DC and have had a wonderful career.  Last May though I got very sick as peri-menopause darkened my door and I missed so much work in a new job that I was laid off.  Then my nutty husband (who worked as a bartender and wasted his VERY expensive degree from American Univ) decided he could not possibly take care of me anymore so I tossed him out, sold MY CONDO, took the big profits and headed back home to PA.  I have a darling Pug named Broadway Rudy Gulliani but feel fortunate that after nine years of marriage and two tries, God new that children were not right for us.  My condo was in a very sought after area of Northern VA and sold in 3 days.  I then moved home with my Parents for the summer of 2012 and was treated with Lo Lo Estrin for the nausea and devastating SEs of peri-menopause.  After 6 months on the estrogen and feeling all better again, I rolled over in bed one morning to feel a LARGE lump in my left breast.  And after mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy was diagnosed with IDC in December of 2012.  If you have not noticed the theme of 2012 yet, all I can say is it sucked!  The trifecta of bad luck!  But things are much better now as I am living with my only Sister in lovely North Texas and I have received EXCEPTIONAL health care since moving here in November of 2012.  Now 5 months later, I will have my LAST T/C chemo treatment this Wednesday and the LAST Nuelasta shot from HELL on Thursday and (put a fork in Me), I am DONE with Chemotherapy.  YIPPIE!  Later in May I will be mapped for Rads and then a possible removal of the ovaries.  I so long to get back to work here in Texas as I have made this my home now.  May is a big month here for my family with my Sister's youngest son graduating from the Winston School in Dallas, my parents visiting from PA, Memorial Day weekend and my 52nd. birthday on May 31.  I'll start the daily Rads on June 3rd. and hope that 2013 just keeps getting better and better!  Meeting all of you has been a major force in my survival of this demonic disease and I thank you all again and again for the love, support and general acceptance I have received over the past months.

Have a super week everyone with minimal SEs and Peace, Luv and Blessings!

    Carolyn
